They didn't stop the deal. They put up a lawsuit to stop it.
Bloomberg is reporting that the United States government just filed court papers in Washington, D.C. to block the much ballyhooed tie-up between AT&T and T-Mobile USA.

So this lawsuit will proceed, palms will get greased, the merger will eventually go through. Then there is the facade of due process. If they just let it pass there would be a lot of noise. But quickly going at it in court, for show, will appease most people. "Hey, they went to court and the court found blah blah blah, it must be better than I thought." World keeps on turnin'.
Sad. Really. I'm so jaded that I'm suspicious of the silver lining, the cloud, the sun, and the sky. The moon is probably in on it too.

SMH.... Read around bro, please, for the benefit of yourself and the greater good. Don't be a Sucker.
Also: check att's leaked documents regarding the merger. Shows how what you are looking for won't happen as they dont actually intend on doing it.... Quite the opposite.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Actually thought it said they intend on doing it. I the point of the leaked doc was that so far at has said they can't do it without tmobile. But in the doc it showed the cost for att to do the buildout and it was extremely less than the price they are paying for tmobile. This creates a problem and shows they are doing the merger for other reasons than the main one stated which is a big no no.
If the deal still goes through rest assured that there will be some big restrictions or stipulations surrounding it now.

Sprint has been sued in almost every state for tax fraud. I remember in Texas they were making customers pay some fake tax 18 months before it was even legal to do so then they claimed, "oh we're just making sure the billing system works" of course after millions of dollars of extra profit they DID GET TO KEEP! none of it went back to customers. Sprint thinks they are above the law. I personally think that the CEO should be put on TV and shot in the head for his crimes against the country as an example. Big CEOs think they can comment crimes then hide behind their corp and act like they knew nothing about it.
"the road of life is rocky, and you may stumble too, so while you point your finger, someone else is judging you."
Google + pertinent info = results
Shot in the head is a little far.
But CEO folks get away with alot of crime...blue collar crime theft = 5 to 10 years and effed up employment history...white collar crime = 3 to 6 months at club fed or house arrest and a seat on the board of another company you get to eff up

I did that a few years ago when my car was towed. Came in and dropped 250 rolls of pennies on the counter. It would have been better if it was just loose change. Strange but true, a lot of banks dont keep that much change on hand. I had to go to 3 different banks to get that much change. Would have been f**king awesome if Samsung really did that though

It's worth noting that there's nothing in the article that indicates that they don't have similar orders in place for other carriers. The Verizon order is the one that leaked, but it would seem that given the breadth of the order, it's probably not VZW specific. The others just haven't been leaked at this point.
I don't personally lose a lot of sleep over this, but I can understand the concern on this. I do think that an order this broad is excessive.
I'm sure it's not just Verizon
I love the "if you're not doing anything, nothing to worry about" argument. No, I'm not doing anything. And it's because of that fact that no one should be building a database on who I call and for how long and where. People just don't get it... How far will it go? When does it stop? Should every person walking the streets be subject to search at any given time because "we might get a bad guy"

Oddly enough Verizon most likely never put up a fight to this. Verizon license their air waves from the federal government.. as with their lte service and upcoming aws service they are leasing it from the govt. Makes since if you think about it..

All airwaves are "leased" from the FCC. I deal with radio communications. Fire and law enforcement were pushed onto the 800MHz spectrum about 10 years ago. Now the FCC wants them to move to the 700MHz spectrum so they can lease the 800MHz to cell phone carriers. Tax payers pay for the equipment needed to make this change which isn't cheap.
All the complaints I heard about google snooping on your WiFi are nothing compared to our own government snooping on every spectrum out there. No communication is sacred unless it is face to face.
The extreme would be to go back to basics of a land line so your location couldn't be tracked. And not using any social media sites or forums. How far are you willing to go?

What I find more disturbing is how ok a lot of people are with our constitutional rights being blatantly violated by the government under the guise of they might catch a boogeyman. The point isn't "if I'm not doing anything wrong, I have nothing to worry about, so I don't care". The point is the lower level implications that the government is wiretapping us without a warrant for us individually without just cause. They cannot do that according to the constitution, and there should be impeachment implications over it AFAIC. Same goes for the second amendment. You might not like it, but it is our right - constitutionally - to be able to own firearms. Like I said, I'm troubled by how many people are just ok with our rights be stripped of us. Rights that make us American, that made us the free people we were.
I wonder how much more intrusion, how much more erosion of our rights it is going to take before the American people revolt and tell them to back the eff off. I don't think we are those kinds of people any more sadly. We are not the people with the spine to stand up to big brother to defend our freedoms from an overreaching government. Myself included - I know I don't have that in me.

While true, the Patriot Act was extended by congress and signed by the president that is sitting in office right now. They had a chance to let it die, and didn't. Now it is all on them for what we have today from that Patriot Act POS when they should have let it die out.
The government likes to use the argument that "they (we) are still looking for terrorists." This argument is now void. Seriously, we stopped trying to end terrorism years ago. We cannot possibly still think that our government is still trying to do this. They are constantly getting into our private lives like it is nothing.
Look, I am a soldier in the United States Army, and I do not see myself ever going into some senators house and going through his documents because I can. That is exactly what they are doing to me! I have nothing to hide. Just do not go through my personal life. I guarantee that they would not like it if I went through their personal lives. LEAVE MY VERIZON RECORDS ALONE!

Oh ok I gotcha. Yeah I knew they were doing the benchmark boosting for a while now. To average consumers this may mean a lot, probably because of the "spec" and "flame" wars between brands, so I can see why they would do this (although not very ethical.) but my reasons for liking a phone come from everything but benchmarks.
Mine do as well ....I'm getting the mega for giggles this week
my addiction:Flashing.
Eh, I don't think it's necessarily fanboys. Fanboys don't care about scores. They don't let a little thing like numbers get in their way. They're the guys who think swiping OVER your phone in the air is way more efficient and helpful than swiping ON the screen.
To be fair, I guarantee you I can find upteen threads, both regular and inside of ROM threads, where people brag about benchmark scores as a sign of speed.
But, with all that said, it's extremely lame what they did. No denying that.
Agreed. What Samsung did was wrong and immoral. But haven't other companies been doing the same?

Shayne, you should really make the switch right now, man. T-mobile has no money down right now. So you can pick up the Note 3 for 47.50 (just the tax). I switched to Jump! and even in 6 months when I switch to whatever is fancy, then, using the Note 3 will only have cost me $200.
Tmobile is offering the note 3 on no money down?! Imma check that out right now!
I'm using tmobile prepaid on our note.... I don't want to be locked down on any contract ever again.... Sprint and Verizon both screwed me... So I said the he'll with it... I'm grabbing the mega keeping it for a year and seeing what comes out then.
That does sound really good too though Anthony

Those that care about benchmarks should buy an iPhone 5s since the A7 chip "blew" the competition away. I'm guilty of admiring high-end specs and features but benchmarks don't mean jack to me. I never ran benchmarks on my new phones since 2010.
