[Q] How to roll back to honeycomb ?? ICS is disappointing - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hey guys,
I just got ICS but up to now I've got 3 random reebots. I prefer to go back to honeycomb and default factory version. How can I do that?
BTW prime is perfect

You can't. In a few days you will get an update to fix your issue. Otherwise, return it.

No way I return it ... it is pretty damned good ... Can I root it and install the old android manually?

If I'm not mistaken, there is no way to access recovery yet so no you wont be able to roll back even when rooted. I could be wrong but I swear I read that somewhere around here.

Nope. Not until Asus give us an unlocked bootloader or recovery capable of flashing non-Asus packages.

[OTA] GT-P7510 OTA never arrived?

despite how easy it is to just root my tab 10.1 and just slap the 4.0.4 update on there, i've been holding out for the OTA.
the problem is, it seems like everyone already has the GT-P7510 OTA, but i'm still getting nothing when trying to get a software update
might there be something wrong with my tablet (partially why i'm hesitant to attempt root and flash)? or will i just be the last guy to get the update in the world?

Why wait, just root and get going..........the Samsung stock build still isn't as good as the custom ROMS.

[Q] Got some questions about Root and Jelly Bean

Hi!
Before the OTA jelly bean upgrade i had rooted my tablet using DebugfsRoot primarily for the reason that i wanted to use my PS3 controller with the tab.
Everything went good and i had a blast, then the OTA upgrade came. I was really stocked to try out jelly bean so i decided to take the upgrade even though i knew it would break my root (i was thinking there will probably be another way to root again in a few weeks).
I later cleared the tablets memory and it's SD-card to get a smoother experience on JB.
So here i am, jelly bean and not rooted. I've begun researching how to get my root back and from what I've gathered i need to:
unlock the bootloader,
downgrade to ISC,
root,
save the root,
upgrade to jelly bean,
recover the root.
That's a lot of steps for someone who has only rooted using the automated tool, and to be honest it scared me a little.
I just wanted to know if there is any other (preferably easier) way and if i can lock the bootloader after I've unlocked it (since the warranty goes away).
If there isn't any easier way, does anyone of you know a step-by-step guide i can follow?
Thanks,
Tallkotten

You cannot downgrade to ICS unless you did nvflash while on ICS which you haven't.
Your process would be, unlock bootloader, install TWRP recovery, flash custom jellybean rom with root built in.

Thanks, but then i wont be able to have the vanilla android experience. Or is it any ROM that's basically the same as normal android but root in it?
Why is it that i cant just unlock bootloader and then root? Do i really need to swap roms?

I see, thank you very much.
It just seems like a lot of stuff to go through compared to that automated root. Never wanted to change ROMS :/
Are you certain there isn't any other way?

Well u can unlock, flash twrp and then just flash a root zip in TWRP but that is no less steps than flashing the rom and you have none of the speed improvements. The reason most people unlock is to install the custom rom because it is far faster than stock but if that's what you want to do so be it

It's just that if i flash a ROM then i (since i like to be thorough) have to research and spend lots of time checking which ROM is best for me
We'll see what i end up doing.
Do you know how the warranty is affected by unlocking? And can it be restored to it's original state after an unlock?

There is no research to do. You say you want it like stock, that only leaves hairybean 1.51 for you.
Once you are unlocked you cannot relock and your warranty is void.

I'm in almost the exact same position you're in. Had root on ICS, lost it on the change to JB. I have several months left on my warranty so am uneasy unlocking and voiding my safety net. Having said that my Prime has zero problems and works as expected, but still I'm reluctant.
I've read through every page on HairyBean and Energy threads and am busting to experience them...especially Energy as it seems to get updated with stunning regularity. But I also believe Asus 4.2 update is coming soon and think it will further enhance the stock OS. Fark, dunno man.....lol I'll do it if you will

Some observations. I am not sure what the actual percentage is but from what I have seen most of the people who have sent their prime in for warranty work have gotten back a prime that can not be unlocked. I am pretty sure that if I got green camera or something of that nature I would just live with it or repair it myself. If and when ASUS releases a 4.2 update it will be an improvement to the stock os that will still not bring stock os on locked prime to a fraction of the speed and productivity available on an unlocked prime using a custom rom. Further anything asus releases will be available within the week with improvements by devs for unlocked primes. The warranty on the prime is for people who have the explicit goal to keep the tablet mediocre at best.

Haha. Just got my Nexus 4 a few days ago and i can tell you that 4.2 is awesome. I really miss it when i'm using my prime.
The only reason i'd like root is to have more freedom with my PS3 controller... Why did they have to go and make is so hard to root? :/
Will there ever be a way to root JB without unlock the Prime or is that technically impossible?

Rooted Software Update

So my phone downloaded the update at&t released today, but it just boots into twrp recovery... is there a way i can locate this update and install it manually ? What's the trick to updating a rooted phone? I am on stock.
No it isn't possible
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
So i can't install a newer version of the stock software if i am rooted? can i like unroot and then do it ? heh
To install an ota you need to be completely stock. Not rooted, no bloatware removed and be using stock recovery.

Wait just a second
Update, At&t released a update., what update
Anxiously runs to phone, checks both AT&T and HTC software updates, nuthin, nada, zilch, goes back to coffee, now depressed and out of sorts, gonna call in sick
Hmmm, if your rooted, and running twrp, your technically not stock.
I just posted an easy unroot zip I made for a friend who has the same issue as you.
Going with this thread, how can you get the OTA again?
The main reason i want the update so i can use Spigen glass tr protector.... ;/ The stock is very clean and runs great.. there has to be a way to update it somehow... Since my phone downloaded the update it means its stored somewhere?? can't i use recovery to install the update ? Now i understand that might break root prob but then re root ? just thinking outloud here. What is the best rom tha is a smooth as stock or even smoother with better battery life? trick or revolution ? those seem to be the popular ones

if you're stock rooted and want what the update gives you, just install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291908
you can flash right over your stock rom and not have to wipe or lose anything.

Im just curious as to what a update has to do with a screen protector
Fyi
You cant install the update without being 100% stock, theres a ruu posted in here thats the current firmware and recovery
The glass screen protectors didn't work well with older software because the capacitive button sensitivity was messed up. The latest att firmware fixed them
You can't install updates when rooted. End of story

So if I flash this it should have everything that's included in the att OTA update? Is this supposed to be the new sense 5.0 and 4.2 android update, or is it just maintenance? Thanks.

Q: Do I goto 4.3 ?

All:
I have my note II rooted, and its running 4.1.2
I received the OTA today, and I chose not to download it. Just curious on what folks are doing ?
I dont run any custom rom on my Note II, I just use it for rooting purposes....
if I do want to upgrade to 4.3 what is the suggested path of action ?
I thought I could use wugfresh I guess not though ?
Thanks

Once you upgrade to 4.3 OTA, your bootloader is locked and root is gone, along with the generally unwelcome addition of Samsung's KNOX technology. No bootloader exploit currently exists. If you upgrade by flashing one of the ROM's here on XDA or the non-OTA update to 4.3 (check the Android Development forum), you get the latest software and keep an unlocked bootloader & root.

Wife gave me my Christmas present yesterday...(a Note 2 she bought used...lovely phone). It started an update when I fired it up, (has been so long since I rooted my Bionic, I completely forgot about OTA's) It now has 4.3, and the only sort of tethering I can mange with it is usb pdanet, which merely qualifies as 'better than nothing', as it often drops out. Might have to put the damn thing in a drawer and fire up the Bionic until the tech gods here work it out. Am downloading a zip from another thread mentioned by Tfly12 that purports to get around the entitlement check...will see

Can't flash that zip though can ya? Trust me. Loosing tethering is the biggest thing that ticks me off about 4.3.

not sure yet, my last experience with this was the Bionic....and after I got it doing what I wanted it to do.....never bothered with it again. I made the same move after my speaker started going on my BIONIC, fortunately for me I made the move to the N2 a few months ago. If you are lucky and someone is able to get the bootloader unlocked on 4.3, you should find this device much easier to work with then using Safestrap and all that other jazz. Odin is sort of like using HOB except I have only had to use it twice and not constantly. Once to unlock the bootloader initially and just recently to update the modem and wifi parameters when I made the move to 4.3
Hopefully someone can help you get set up to use the N2 the way you need it.

return to stock, accept OTA 5.0

sorry to sound st00pid, I have Jasmine, 4.4.4, and I just want to return to stock, and accept the OTA to 5.0. Is there a SIMPLE way to do this? Without abd commands, and what not? I use the G3 as a secondary phone now, and I don't need root on it and all that jazz, but I would like 5.0, and there don't seem to be a simple way for a n00b like me to upgrade without being a 14 year old Asian kid.
Thanks!
