[Q] How to install Pershoot Kernel - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'd like to start by saying thanks to everyone who are working hard on all these great developments / tweaks / Kernels / ROMs / drivers and everything else!!
Thank you.
I am kinda new here, and just installed GalaxyTask latest 13.1 slim ROM, which works great, but I had the GalacyTask 10 version, which had the PerShoot kernel, which I think is better.
My question is this, how do I flash the Pershoot kernel?
If possible please provide a step by step explanation, as I tried a few things, all resulting in a need to restore a recovery I did before.
I read a few things in the droidbasment site, but I just didn't understand a few of the things there, any help will be great.
I have Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi, running Tasks 13.1 slim version (latest at this time).
Thanks in advance

Kinda strange answering myself, but what I did was restore just the boot part from a GalaxyTask 10 ROM backup (after flashing the boot for pershoot kernel, without the actual modules, as I have no idea how to do that, so all I got was snow...), it seems that SetCPU can OC my tab again, I can charge with USB and that things actually work smoother, meaning, seems that I did installed Pershoot Kernel, just by restoring the boot from a GalaxyTask10 ROM backup.
Does this make sense?
Should I expect any issues, or should everything work properly?
Sorry for the n00b questions (everyone were n00bs once, if you dont ask, you can never learn).

download this kernel boot-cm_2636.4_ux_hc32-oc-xtra-vfpv3-d16_fp-010912.zip from pershoots site reboot tab into clockwork recovery wipe davlik cache then install(flash) kernel zip then reboot tab download setcpu app so u can control max and min cpu in case you want to overclock
edit: pershoot says that you should flash stock kernel then flash his kernel
---------- Post added at 02:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 AM ----------
everything should be fine if you just restored boot but v10 had an older version of pershoots kernel

[ROM Repository][25-Mar]Dual Boot Rom Collections -SAMMY JB ROMS Modded for DualBoot.

Here will be my little contribution to the communauty, since I build my house alone, I don't have time to cook anymore (need to learn android... I'am from WM6.5 kitchen time^^ )
So here is the Idea, Building a collection of modded roms to allow dual boot....
Synopsis :
As you all know, by now, you can not dual boot Samsung official based roms .... but here is a workround, found by some, ( Was inspired by this thread ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120514&page=30 )
My way of modding; (sorry , it was late yesterday when I wrote that... it's corrected now, not /data/appdata but /data/sec_data )
-redirecting /preload/symlink/system/app to /data/sec_data
-removing Kernel and Modem flash files.
-editing update-script accordingly.
My Idea is to maintain an up to date database of modded built that are working in Dual boot.
Configuration is :
1 - Install Any Custom JellyBean ROM Available here at XDA ( CM10,1; AOKP, AOSP, all but SAMMY BASED )
2 - Flash latest DorimanX Kernel V8.X Avaiable. ( http://dorimanx.suckup.de/download/ ) It support any 4.2 rom as 1rst rom, and SAMMY JB official as second boot.
3 - Flash a SAMMY Modded Rom from this repository that work in dual boot as 2nd ROM.WIPE DATA/CACHE BEFORE FLASH & FIX 2nd ROM PERMISSION AFTER FLASH
Enjoy!
( you can now flash 1st ROM the way you want it doesn't affect the 2nd ROM BUT you always need to flash DorimanX kernel V8 after!)
First Modded ROM Available will be NeatROM 4.4 Lite. wich is a good base for a sammy day use rom.
Will upload tomorrow from work.
Feedback is wellcome.
So here is the Modded ROM repository ! Remember, flash it as 2nd ROM!

Don't really know if its the same thing, just seen that the author of the other post tell to read end of the thread as he doesn't have followed all the story.
After reading some page of the thread, I thought it would have been a great thing to have roms already modded avaiable for download.
Will try to make and test as many rom as possible, but I am sure Syah will find a way of dual boot out of the box...
For the time, I hope it will helps someones.

1. just ask author to mirror their work/roms
2. or use their links to modded roms
3. its just a clone dorimanx kernel thread /things around dualboot+kernel+working roms/

It's my thread
There are several Roms already prepared for dual boot. Most of them are made by other users, maybe you read a bit more in there, they have done good jobs on several custom Stock/Stock & AOSP Roms.
But hey, no (zero!) offense, if yours is better organized or more user friendly, it's all good because that's what it's all about.
Greetings
Thomas

that's exactly the Idea, I 'm not meant to shine in public, my goal his only to contribute and make it easy to find for people wanting to make a Dual boot environnement with Sammy Jelly Bean.
Will try to make 3 more roms tonight, ( Omega, Wanam for example)
neat rom dualboot work fine in secondary with dorimanx 8.10
primary xtreme v.5beta2
good work
now i tried with any mod- i saw is not possible flash mod in cwm -maybe paste in system/app
edit-crt-off work------flash in cwm mod xtreme v9 4.2 apps-clock 4.2 and camera and gallery 4.2 working
flash alliance mod 2.4 naturally not work totally but now have edge zoom and save a screenshot in power menù
also ink effect work
WanamLite ROM added! Aroma installer preserved.
OMEGA XXLSD V20.1 Added! ( Aroma installer NOT preserved; default install )

thanks for your support, I feel good with Omega too, it's the last I have Modded.
now I make Bitfor because seems to be a really good piece of work too.
This repository is a way of promoting DorimanX Kernels because its a shame we can't dual boot a Sammy jb easily, for me dual boot is a way of always having a stock rom in my phone....now its easy to do out of the box for everyone.
I hav finished modding Bitfor and testing it. its very fast, no problem at all!
Really a good rom too.
Nice thread OP. You may want to add Space and Time 2.6 ROM if you're interested.
Attention: I'm pretty sure your multiupload links will expire very soon, so please consider reupload the roms to dev-host.
Or I may download these 3 roms and upload here for the community.
This is effin' BRILLIANT!
Thanks!
Never saw a site as worst as depositfiles.com for upload/download...
Dropbox or Vip-files please
Not sure if it's a problem related to WanamLite or this "dualboot mod" but for some reason, the status bar doesn't exist I obviously cleared data & caches. Everything else is working perfectly. I've never encountered anything like this in my two year experience in Android... Anyway, thanks a lot! :highfive: Dualboot rocks
I dont get it. What is about dorimanx v9.x? Or only v8.x works?
because as I understand v8.x - for Sammy based, v9.x - for CM,AOKP.
situation - i need AOKP as 1st, Wanam 14.3 as 2nd. Which kernel i need?

On another note: Can we be sure it's the DorimanX kernel that gives a laggy experience of OMEGA v.20.1 and not the modification to make it dual-boot able?
I don't have the technical skill and insight to determine what the problem is.

The modifications we made to this roms have NOTHING to do with rom's performance and all things related to this.
There is variant that Dorimanx is not working very good with Omega, because as much I love this kernel it's always beta and not 100% stable.

I have also seen that Omega is a bit Laggy, hoping future updates of DorimanX kernel will resolve this.
Just finished Uploading new roms to the repository... but Bitfor has a new version 7.2..so I keep modding^^
TO bseuhgm :
DoriManX Kernel 8.XX is for any rom except ICS rom. You can use it with CM10.1/AOKP/AOSP etc...
DoriManX Kernel 9.XX is only for CM10.1/AOKP/AOSP etc AND DOESN'T SUPPORT ANY OF SAMMY OFFICIAL JellyBean ROMS
TO ALL : don't forget to do a Fix 2nd ROM Permission after Flash!!!

[30/10][CM11][Linaro][Bionic][Boeffla][Fidelity]CM11.0 - Fidelity Edition

This is the personal build of my CM11 used mainly for audiophile purposes. It consists of the following changes below aside from CM nightlies.
-Compiled with latest Linaro toolchain 4.7 and its NDK
-Compiled with Linaro optimization flags -O3 -pipe -Wl,--hash-style=gnu -fno-tree-vectorize -fno-inline-functions -fno-unswitch-loops
-Compiled with full strict aliasing (No warning error for kernel though because there're too many to fix)
-Some Bionic optimizations cherry-picked from SlimSaber source
-Boeffla kernel sound mod added from AGNi kernel by @psndna88
-Low latency audio/voice driver tweaks
-Use Superclock frequency for system clock used in kernel's audio codec
Download: cm-11-20141030-UNOFFICIAL-n7100.zip
great to see new aosp roms coming for n7100 thanks looking forward for the release.how about adding some cherry picks like hover and active display
Download is available now.
Used since yesterday, so far so good. No bugs till now to be found, continue testing. Good job mate.

May be your EFS is broken, try to restore it if you have a backup, if you dont, i think flashing an official Samsung rom with Odin could bring it back.

Tried a restore from recovery but didn't work. Mind you I flashed devil kernel once I flashed this rom so it may have something to do with that.
I had no problems when I reflashed slim rom.
Can you make a version for omnirom?

i used to suffer this problem too..
try my method:
- clean install first, let it boot completely.
- finish setup wizard, (setting up google account, etc) check if you got any signal?
- then reboot recovery, flash devil kernel.
hope this helps :fingers-crossed:

Hi,
I too get distortions, every 4 seconds or so. They were so annoying, that I had to ditch this otherwise fine, fine ROM.
Hope the cook can look into it. I mainly use my phone for spotify and pocket cast. So, sound is important.
Got back from visiting parents' place. I mainly optimized audio for walkman app. Going to properly optimize it for whole system with as little sacrifice as possible.

No problem. .take your time..your rom was super smooth. .just test out things..hoping for a great super stable rom.
I was busy since August and haven’t got chance to update the ROM at all. Now that I have some spare time, I’ll start with Note 2 I’m using right now. Fixed some audio glitches for streaming audio stability.
If you can provide sound quality of tw with smoothness and speed of cm11, it will be the best rom for me. Looking forward to test out the release.

It's exactly that and I missed a plane yesterday so I decided to compile another round with Boeffla kernel mod for better sound.

Kernel and Sound

hi guys. i´m trying to put my i9305 LTE the best mp3 player that i can get. i read that are some kernels (siyha) that has audio adjustments that "boosts" the sound, but o confess im really noob with flashing kernels and im afraid something goes wrong..
currently, i run CM11 nightly, but i can also run the CM10.1.3, i don't care about the android version on the phone...and i only "know" cyanogen mods.
so, i ask, is there any rom that as built in some kernel like siyha (i read that boeffla does the "same") that i can just flash the rom and complete my golds for sound?
i searched and searched but really i do know any other rom´s by using them...maybe someone with more experience can help me..
thnks
dont really need a kernel for that just go to the market and install viper4android or go here to the official viper4android site on XDA. It will amp your sound easily without having to have a new kernel

Every good kernel has an Instalation Guide. Follow this steps and no problem
You must find compatible kernel.
Also you must find that kernel include app or you must use Aroma installer to change anything

I tried cm 10.1, omnirom, ct-rom and with these roms if i flash boeffla nothing happens, if i flash agni stays in bootloop..
The only rom that has what i need(kernel)is amsha but i hate the design :/
To flash a zip kernel is not the normal procedure in cwm?

With Agni, you'll have to flash a custom recovery thats able to run f2fs (check the thread, you'll be able to find a link there)
If you get the chance I'd check out SOKP, Milestone 2 is a bit buggy at the moment but they're rolling out MS3. Where most of the bugs are fixed.
Thats part of the reason why SOKP has such a huge following haha
Good Luck!
-- edit --
On the i9305, the boffela kernel + the control app (you can find it on LordBoeffla's website for free) will let you "amplify" the sound. Youll find this under the sound's tab in the boffela control app.
For the best audio, try to tweak it so then you get the minimum background "hiss" [set the android master volume around 80-90% then drop the boffela volume to an acceptable level for your earphone/headphone]
(From a semi audiophile's POV, you're better off getting a dedicated DAP if you're using the i9305 only as an Audio player. If you dont have that much music, you may want to try and stuff all of it on the on board storage as running it off the MicroSD may deter audio quality [from bottlenecks and what not])
thnks for all your helps after trying and trying, i managed to flash c-rom, and the agni kernel, i did not test exaustly but i think its this im looking for...a rom seemed like cyanogenmod and a sound tweak option...the only "problem" for now is i cannot update to the last version of c-rom, i will try to read all the posts on the right section to figure out whats happening...

I would like to know the kernel needed to run this PA 4.6 .. I'm using Dormianx kernel where I'm not getting the optimum needed battery life .. My wifi is on all the time and I think that this rom is causing me some serious partial wakelocks i cant really find solution for wakelocks. Is this because of kernel or because of the build being a beta version. My battery was reduced to 10% from 35% without being used .. Suggest some solutions for this if any other kernel or anything else.

Hi, I'm trying to flash my s2 with this rom having never done anything like this before.
I'm stuck at the first hurdle in that I can't get CWM on to my phone, it's still using the stock android recovery - I've read guides and found that I first need to install CWM JB 6.0.2.9 and then upgrade from there to install kitkat roms - however every single link I can find for the 6.0.29 version of CWM is dead....
Does any one know of a mirror?
thanks.
thanks man

First you need to install the cwm 6.0.4.5+ to install Kikat roms so .. download the needed cwm's from here http://galaxys2root.com/cwmtwrp-recovery and flash the zip file, reboot the recovery and now you will find the needed recovery confirm it by checking the version it should be 6.0.4.5 or above .. Now you can flash the PA 4.6 beta 5 and gapps successfully You can also use
files to flash from odin if youre bricked and cant get into cwm now !!!!

Thanks in advance

Well, yeah, not knowing where to download from wasn't exactly my problem. I was asking if I should download dorimanx v10 or v9

I've installed this ROM and extended the internal memory to 12GB with a pit file. This is my first installed ROM on a S2.
The ROM works fine, but there are two bugs that need to be fixed.
1. I can't enter the camera, I received the message "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped"
2. When I go to the Gallery I received the message "No external storage available". I can't even take a screenshot.
Please help a beginner solve these problems. Thanks!

That has been a problem with all roms for the SII for a while. Large file operations freeze the device sometimes. Not sure if it's fixed by now in other roms, but for PA it will never get fixed, it seems.
Can I get it rooted

To install a Touch-Wiz ROM on i9515 the following steps are used:
1.Using TWRP wipe Dalvik & Cache, System, Internal memory (optional)
2.Flash the ROM you want (followed by Aroma in some cases)
3.Wipe Dalvik & Cache
4.Flash the Kernel (Stock or Imperium)
5.Wipe again Dalvik & Cache
6.Reboot and wait for the first boot
Here is an example of touch-wiz ROM

I didn't try the kernels on lineageOS...but these kernel nicely work in touch-wiz ROM...
Can you improve something in the kernel that will help reduce the stuttering?
Otherwise the kernel works perfect for me.

Sorry dear… I just share tested things for i9515…
Does the imperium kernel work with the Wizcyan rom? Right now I use the i9515L kernel since the i9515 has wifi problems... But that doesn't mean I don't have any problems right now. The phone gets random restarts, bluetooth isn't working, as well as the hotspot. So, will this kernel fix these problems?

I installed the kernel and now everything works fine. Thank you very much!
Hello, Cristian here, i want to thank you very much for your contribuition to our version of the s4 device whick is I9515 Value edition.
Already downloaded the stock kernel and all i hope is to be compatible with the latest version of wizcyan 4.1. But as far as it seen, should be effective unto this aspect and overall usage.
I will reply after i install the stock rom over clean install wizcyan 4.1, including the mini update attached to their official post.

As i said before, this method, including all other attempts in making the usage of stock kernel active was basically rejected by this S4 JFVELTE I9515 VALUE EDITION phone and will not work no matter what.
The good news is that the Imperium kernel is functioning well and as far as i observed, it behaves fine. I will keep testing its functions and if i will find any bug i will post it here.
Thanks.
