Don't worry....you'll get ICS
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk

You'll get stock SE ICS only providing 2 things:
1. You don't do the update using the PC suite and instead update Over The Air.
2. You update using whichever method you like and a rooting method is discovered again (in other words you lose the root and then root it again once that's possible).

Just rooting won't be any problem to use pc companion. But unlocking boot loader will. There are 3 methods of unlocking boot loader and some can effect updating to ICS via pc companion.
01.Unlocking boot loader with sony's official method will kill drm keys means no pc companion use = you will have to flash ICS update manually after ftf files makes it way to internet.
02.Using s1tool I am not entirely sure about this, bcos in some places I read you can use pc companion and in some places I read you cannot use pc companion after using s1tool.
03.Using setool2.This is paid method. But drm keys never will be killed and pc companion works fine.Means you can use pc companion(tested and works well on my Neo V ) to upgrade to ICS once its released

True I guess. I interpreted his question as wanting to keep the root intact though.

Simple yes coz we will still make a Rom what ever you do to your phone

[Q] Rooting with flashtool, clarification

Ok i need to know a few things.
Can flashtool root my x10 without any special PC Companion or SEUS installed? Because if so, sweet. If not, my life sucks for a while. Recent fiasco of this very laptop being naughty when i was trying stuff with flashtool caused me to have to jack a friends computer for a bit because he had working SEUS. So now im back to the start. If flashtool cant root my phone by itself, then are there any root APPS that work?(Unless im stupid, and downloading the default SU app from market will root.)

It is complusory for the drivers to installed before using flashtool. Therefore in short: yes you have to have PC companion to use Flashtool. Also I suppose you could use an app called z4root or something like that I can't remember off the top of my head sorry D:
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
It depends on the firmware. If you are runing .504 firm or under you can root with z4root. If it's higher you need OneClickRoot or Flashtool and installed usb drivers.
@Realorasz, didn't DooMLords' guide for manually installing the drivers helped for you. I mean the one which are in the Drivers folder in Flashtool.

(Q) How to return to stock eclair, having nAa couple?

Hi everybody. Right now i have latest nAa rom and kernel. Id like to know how safe is the restore procedure with pc companion. Does it restore eclair and stock kernel?
Do i have to relock bootloader? Im really scared.
I really need to know this before flashing nAa kernel in another x10 mini pro.
Thanks!

Pc companion or SEUS will reflash stock rom and kernel
Yeah, if u r using pc companion, u will get a fresh stock of S.E firmware. And if u want to flash any custom ROM then, u need to root your device once again. its not gonna re-lock your boot loader. u r free to flash your custom kernel.
Thanks a lot for your answers! Now im ready to flash my friends u20.

Wow... I'm confused again. Can I restore the whole phone with pc companion without relocking bootloader???
I don't wanna touch the bootloader! And i'm planing to go back to a fresh stock eclair
If your bootloader is unlocked, repairing it with SEUS or PC Companion will not relock it, but it will restore stock eclair.
Once the bootloader is unlocked succesfully (you still can make calls and things), there is no need to touch it again, unless you want your phone back in original state for repairs under warranty.

easy way to relock your bootloader is use S1 Tool, for guide you can read this post from stiv8785 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19624790&postcount=2. after your bootloader relock success now you can restore to SE original firmware with SEUS latest version.
with this way your phone will be normal i hope

How did you make PC Companion to detect your phone?
My x10 mini is using nAa kernel + MiniCM7.
I'm trying to flash stock kernel using PC Companion, but it doesn't even detect the phone.
It asks to mount the SD card when I plug the USB cable, but after I do that, it says "No phone connected".
It doesn't need to If you want to flash back to stock with PC Companion you can turn off your phone and disconnect it from the computer
Choose update in PC Companion, (It doesn't detect your phone) It will give you a repair option
Follow the steps and only connect your phone when it asks for it (popup asking you to connect your phone in flashmode)
The repair-option let's you choose your model and downloads the firmware for that.
Let us know how it goes

Thank you very much.
I'm going to unlock the carrier restriction of my girlfriend's x10 mini.
The problem is that I've installed nAa kernel and MiniCM7 ROM in it, and it seems that CyanogenMod 7 doesn't have na option to insert the unlock code for SIM restriction.
Searching in Google, it seems that I need to flash stock kernel and ROM to be able to insert the unlock code.
Too much headache for a simple operation that CM7 guys should have implemented...

CM7 is stock android with some extra tweaks The functionality you're looking for is part of android, i'm sure the CM7 guys didn't take it out.
I guess you want to sim-unlock the phone to use it with other carriers? In that case, just pop in a sim-card from another provider and at start-up it will ask you for your unlock-code.
It's as easy as that, but i agree there should be an option to put the code in somewhere in the user-interface

I tried to do that (inserted a SIM from another carrier), but it didn't ask me for an unlock code at the boot.
I've made sure to test with 2 different SIMs, from different carriers.
In both cases, MiniCM7 didn't ask the for carrier unlock code and the radio signal icon showed 4 empty bars with a red little icon (don't remember if an "!" or an "x"). Also, the message "No service" appeared in the screen.
I'm sure that the phone is still carrier locked, since it's working with the original carrier (where I've bought it) SIM.
Odd But I hope it works with stock eclair for you then

Yea. Sony's stock ROM has the feature to insert a carrier restriction unlock code.
It should ask you for the unlock code as soon as it boots with a SIM from a different carrier.
I really don't get why CyanogenMod guys haven't implemented such a feature in their ROMs.
Whatever. Thank you very much for the explanations.

Hey man you are not supposed to use android sdk to relock your bootloader. There is a relocking ftf which has to be flashed. First flash stock ics, then flash the relocking ftf and reflash the stock ics rom
Then you will be able to update via SEUS or PC COMPANION.

MAn you made a huge error by using pcc, after unlocking your bootloader , sony tells you that do not use pcc and seus or ota updates as they may harm your device, even i do not know how pcc recognized your device, and with custom roms it is even harder to solve, however please can you tell me if cm10 is smooth enough?? anyway here is the solutiuon:1)if you have cwm try flashing a custom rom if a custom rom is available on your sd card or try formating your device. 2) flash the official ics .587 by using the flashtool :http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/38251 , if the drivers are not available for you to use the flashtool , go to help in the flashtool and hit drivers, and to let your device boot in flashmode ( your device should be off, a green light from your LED light should appear after booting to the flashmode) please hold the volume down button while connecting your device to the usb, to flash the ftf of .587 please click on the first button on the left and choose flashmode, then choose the ftf and flash it P.S: I am a newbie but not a noob, I helped a lot of people on sony forums and on gsmarena and other forums, if I helped you please hit thanks

Be sure that you choose the .587 not the .431 from uliwooly's links and if the flashtool shows you errors please try using the flashtool64 ( available in the flashtool folder), you have also another choice, download a new custom rom, use the flashtool in fast boot mode ( hold the volume up button while connecting to the USB connection) and flash the new custom rom , then try flashing the stock rom by flashtool if it doesn't flash it well on your current rom

Update Center 'Could not verify'

Hey guys,
Today my phone said the update 17.1.1.A.0.402 is available for me phone. But whenever I try to update it via Update Center app it downloads the firmware and then it's verifying and after a few seconds it says 'could not verify'. I tried to update via PC Companion, but PC Companion says there's no update for my phone. Any idea what's wrong?
My phone has a locked bootloader and it's rooted. I also got dual recovery installed. My firmware is stock, I only rooted it.
It wont let you update if you have a modifed Firmware
Dual recovery and root can be counted as modded firmware
You can use flashtool to flash a stock rom (include system only and exclude data wipe)

He used the repair function in PC Companion, which will wipe the phone and install the latest update.
If you prefer to keep your data, you could just download the 402 firmware FTF file and use Flashtool to flash it, then root the device again. Just ensure that you untick the Wipe Data option in Flashtool.
Yes. I tried to repair it and followed all the steps but it said the software had been changed after I plugged in the USB while holding the volume down.
