Anyone get call recording to work in ics?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I assume it needs kernel support to be done. And we won't have the ability to add it until HTC release the ICS kernel source for this phone which won't be until after the official update.
Bump!
I just (finally) got around to installing Scott's CleanROM 4.5 Pro edition. (It totally rocks Scott. Good work. Donation soon to come.)
Anyway, I've been looking around for a way to record phone calls. I want both my voice and the person on the other end. I don't want any of that speakerphone **** - I want a digitally captured stream of all the audio. It's legal in my state to do this.
Anyone with any ideas how to accomplish this?
Call recorder but its not free its by valex or something like that

This works just fine (100%) for incoming and outgoing sound, at the same time, on Newt's XXX 3 (super old version).
So it's a Sense 4 ROM. But this works, without issue, with all default settings. Test it on Sense 3.6? It's definitely ICS though here, and it works. As far as I know, my kernel is virtually the same?
Hi there,
I started playing with callrecorder yesterday.
The app's thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
There's a trial version in the first link of that thread.
It works fine on my rezound (s-off, Nils' Business sense 3.6 v5.7)
One problem I'm seeing is that it *always* records calls. There's settings that are supposed to make that not happen but those settings are being ignored on my phone...
I am interested in a call recorder app. but all of them I have tested only record through the mic so the other side of the conversation can not be heard that well. Does anyone have a call recorder app that works without using the mic? If so what rom are you using? Thanks in advance.
An alternate method of recording calls is to use Google Voice for all your calls. It has a built-in system allowing for calls to be recorded on their servers and then accessible just like your voicemails are from the Google Voice app or the website.

I am aware of this but it does not do it automatically, right? and I believe there is a beep while you talk?

I used to use Fring but that was just complete crap as far as call quality went... so, i've been using Skype lately.
the problem with Skype is that the call quality is still a bit "crappy" here & there + the latest update keeps pestering me to re-install it at least once a day(wtf?)
is there anything else out there that i can use on my Thunderbolt that has decent call quality, call land lines as well as get a phone # assigned to me for people to call me?
I use Tango and Qik all the time. They both work well.

i didn't bother with Qik as i'm not interested in video calling & Tango says it's a "free" app that's for making calls to other Tango users.
thanks for trying though.

If you have a google voice number and account then look at GrooveIP. i suggest you be in strong 3G or 4G coverage for it to work well
Google talk. Its free, better Quality then skype and works with every rom, can use wifi OR data. Search for gtalk 1.3 dowloader in market.
Google voice is free, as good of quality as my regular verizon line. Sets up on your celly, lets you choose which line to use to make calls, and you can foward your cell number to your gvoice vvmail box so you dont have to check 2 vm box's

my market doesnt show a gtalk or google talk, has a "google voice" but i believe thats something different? just to make sure, i can pay(unless its free) to get a phone # through gtalk?... i do not want to use the # on my thunderbolt. i like how i can call any # from skype and have a # set to my skype account, just the service is horrible.

Gtalk is only for video calls. Gvoice you can get a free number, and make and recieve free calls through any phone or computer and has free fowarding and vvmail options

It sounds like google voice is what your looking for, if you use gmail, google +, voice and talk all work together in your gmail act. Which just makes things so much easier. And its all free. You need separate apps to do each thing on your phone for now, but im hoping they integrate them all into g+ soon.

i ended up finding that gtalk via a google search and downloaded it from here. i tried to install it but apparently it isnt for AOSP ROMs.
as for google voice, i just tried that but it seems its just a voicemail management system and for making international calls. both i dont care to do.
oh well. ;(
I use it as my normal number all the time. I have a cali celly number but live in colo, so my gvoive number is my local colo number which i use all the time.

sorry but, when i installed it it was asking about managing my voicemail & then asking if i wanted it set as the default device for making international calls. it then dropped me into some sort of inbox and there were no call options anywhere. i did a google search on it but i just found info on how to use it on your desktop. i guess i'll have to attempt to find more information on the app. i just wish it was more user-friendly.
p.s. noticed a lot of negative feedback on it in market complaining about it being an unfinished app.

I think its pretty user friendly I've been using it since its inception and idk if they still do but Google had a long video about how to use it in there website. I would suggest setting the Google voice account up from a computer first and then integrating the app

i got Google Voice up & running yesterday & had been using it to make/receive a few calls. i just checked my minute usage though it seems Google Voice DOES use your minutes(confirmed it on google's site also).
Apparently there's a trick to actually getting it for free but requires downloading a few other apps from market and registering on some gizmo5 website(that seems to be down).
so itseems Skype is my best choice after all.
Hello,
I've noticed that when you flash any ICS rom that it originally has the dialer and messaging app like regular phones do, including signal and networking settings.. I would like to know if it's possible that Google Voice calling and Text Messaging can be implemented to the Galaxy so it can be used as a phone with WiFi.
Thanks for anyone who could give some insight if it's possible.

Yes it can. You can download GrooVe IP or Talkatone. GrooVe IP is just the dialer, and Talkatone has the dialer and SMS built right in. However, with Talkatone you have to pay for high quality sound as with GrooVe IP it is already unlocked. To offset texting you can just download the Google Voice App, and use that. That's what I do and is works pretty well. All don't require you to pay anything when calling/texting numbers in the United States, but everywhere else they do charge. Textplus to me isn't all that great because they randomly give you a number and if your area code isn't available then oh well lol.
Here's GrooVe IP https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5zbnJibGFicy5ncm9vdmVpcCJd

Hope this helps. I can give you my information since I use GrooVe IP and the Google Voice App on a daily basis ( I go to college and don't have a job for a phone lol so this is the next best thing )

I have Talkatone as well and it has both voice and text features. The problem that is inherent to the design of the Galaxy Player is that the mic is on the bottom of the device so everytime I've tried to talk to people, they can barely hear me unless I rotate the player so that I'm talking into the mic and then rotating it back to put the earpiece next to my ear. I haven't been able to pair my bluetooth headset to the player but if/when that happens, it should fix that problem.

It's not a Google Voice issue, because I use it on my laptop and have not once got lag. I think has more to do with the device. My sister got lag on her phone at one point and I fixed it by fiddling around with the settings. In GrooVe IP you can go to Audio/Echo Settings --> Echo Cancellation and check "Basic echo canceler" or "Adaptive echo canceler". Also go to Troubleshooting --> and check Audio Processing to, and then Go down to Mic Buffer and change it to medium or large ( I notice the larger it is the more lag). Talkatone I have no idea lol. I assume it has some of the same settings as GrooVe IP.

On talktone there is an echo cancellation option that has hardware and software check. And a echo path delay. Are these similar? there's also a "Jitter buffer duration" can these help fix the delay?

As I don't have much experience with talkatone but it sure does sound the same. I probably should be able to fix the delay. All I can say is mess with the settings lol.

Hello, after a full day of googling, messing my device up, and headaches - here I am.
Before I go any further it would probably help to explain my device configuration. I have a galaxy player, which has no mobile data or cellular capabilities (essentially a phoneless galaxy S), running unnoficial cm9 ICS. Because cm9 hasn't been optimized for media players, I still have the phone features such as the dialer built-in.
My goal is to get google voice working with the sip feature on the cm9 dialer. Through the help of pbxes.org and trial and error, I have mostly succeeded. The one minuscule yet painfully crippling issue I have is the ringtone doesn't play when I receive a call, even though it vibrates and shows the call screen normally. Now before you ask the painfully obvious; YES I tried setting a new ringtone, NO my device isn't in silent mode, and YES my volume is turned up.
I haven't tried a data reset yet, but that is last resort as I have no way to nandroid. I was wondering if this is a bug with cm9 or ICS in general, or a device specific issue I have. I would be so thankful if anyone that has experienced this and possibly found the solution could share it! Thank You.
I'll take silence as a sign no one else has this issue?

I have looked at other dialers but none of them have the sip capabilities. I also tried some sip clients like sipdroid - which rang fine, although interestingly simplecsp fails to ring just like the stock dialer. I am thinking it is a bug with our cm9 since system ui sounds also seem to not play.

There is no settings with in settings that allows you to put the ringtone so you might have to do it the way I did it. The way was is you have to download zedge and find the ringtone you want and then download it and then it hit set as and it will ask you what you want to set it as and set it as your ringtone and it'll work

Hmm, I have no problem setting ringtone.
I have made several important discoveries;
The reason the system UI sounds don't work is because the system volume is set to 0 and can't be adjusted in the system settings, but I used AudioManager to turn it up. Now system UI sounds work fine but still no ringtone.
Another discovery is when I set poweramp to not pause for incoming calls, I hear the ringtone! It plays over poweramp, but this is a huge clue to my problem.
For some reason I cannot make calls using my GV #. Everything thing else works with it.. I searched and saw theses custom roms sometimes use third party dialers. It was said to set that to off in call settings, but i am not seeing that. Any ideas?
I was having issues yesterday between 630AM and 4PM EDT......I think it was a Verizon issue as my wife was having issues as well. Are you sorted now?
Could it possibly have something to do with Google updating hangouts to include voice calls yesterday?

Nope... Still calls from regular # regardless of how I have GV set.... What gives!! I can't be the only one dealing with this.. Just installed on GFs S3 and she gets same results as me.
I have been making calls using Google voice integrated into the dialer just like every phone I have ever had. Works fine on CM based roms and TW based roms. Worked since the hangouts change so I don't think that's related.

Weird. I replied to this myself after I got the phone. Call recorder by @SkAlvex works perfectly. It even records while using Wi-Fi calling which my s6 could never do. Thanks for the reply though. I personally like call recorder better mainly because I am used to it and additionally because there is a link to recordings from within each contact.

BoldBeast recorder is another option that has almost always worked with every phone. They have great support and it's free. Root is not required (not attainable anyway, except on the EU version, for now).
I've tested it on the G5 and it works (though I haven't given bluetooth recording a try yet). Wi-fi calling recording does not work though.
Edit: Actually it works with Wi-Fi calling! Sweet!
If anyone is still reading this - don't upgrade to Android 7.
I did upgrade my LG-H860 (dual sim G5) and then of course discovered that call recording APIs are either removed or hidden - no software works!
Now looking for a way to downgrade back to Android 6.0.X....
