Just curious, but why would you like to do that?
Yes, along with voiding warranty and some tech skills.

That would be possible to do, but the raised question of voiding warranty is valid one...

Where? Can you post picture? I hope it is not same problem as with Arc and the very common crack on top of front housing?

Any idea how it happened? Could it be manufacturing problems?
Nooo, it wasnt an out of nowhere crack, my friend pushed me while I was holding it and it got dropped down...

Damn, that's unfortunate. Feel sorry for you, seriously. Would you mind changing thread name to "Housing cracked". I now there no issue as such, like with Arc, but at least more people would be aware. That's why maybe it s actually worth considering buying case.
As I said. Its a very small and someone that dont know about it wont notice it so its ok. Ty anw for ure help!

Change the housing and change your friend just kidding.
I bet it is possible, when I change the arc's housing at very early time it was very expensive but later got a lot cheaper. Try and make it a warranty issue. Does your phone has sign of being dropped?
It could be more difficult to do it under warranty, better chances under insurance?

as "Cholek3" recommends, insurance would be nice since its the complete replacement of the phone. Warranty housing replacement sucks because first you have to send it back to repair center for inspection and sometimes to send it back.

Can I remove the back panel on the atrix and not void warranty?
Where did you get the idea that removing the battery cover would void the warranty?

I guess, if you can put it back the same way like it was never touched. I know that there are guides of how to do that here, and maybe YouTube.
What's going on that you need to take apart your phone?

He means to access the motherboard. I believe they put a special tape that you break when you separate it, my friend at sprint repairs phones and always puts a new tape in after he repairs a phone... maybe if you don't fully separate the two pieces?

Oh. Well that explains a lot.
I think the only tape is the piece that is holding one of the data cables on to the motherboard, otherwise you can theoretically remove the back cover without them knowing, be careful not to scratch up the screws with your torx.
Called HTC then a few moments later, im getting a new battery cover =)

Did this today as well after I noticed mine had a stain or something on the beautiful white...
Can you just request any cover or do you need to tell them there's something wrong with it? Mine's a little dinged especially around the camera.
I called on Monday and got my battery cover on Thursday. She was very helpful and even gave me the white one knowing I already had the black one. She said, "sure, add a little color right!" Their service is quite good. I'll hold off on the charger cable and battery for a few months.
Hmm going to try and call today, I have white back cover but I want black also, do I call T-Mobile or HTC

sweet thanks for letting us know! i just called in to replace my back cover cause the volume rockers were getting damaged. should have a new one in the mail within next few days. the customer service was great as well, very surprised lol
yes waiting for mine
I got shipped the white one when I confirmed my phone came with the black one. They reshipped a black cover and I can still keep the first white one they sent. Now I have 3 all together. Yay

I'm sure it still has warranty on it. May not be from your carrier but HTC covers it. So go ahead and call htc. Tell them your power button is not working properly or the case is making a creaking noise

I got the one I ordered couple days ago, funny that she checked my serial, it checked out as white, I asked her to send me the black, she said she couldn't, she checked if she could twice, said she still can't, talked to her a bit more, guess I said something right because she confirmed with me that she'd be sending the white, opened up my mail, I got the black instead.
The other night I stupidly hit a can of coke over onto my rez. I soaked it in rice and everything is functioning except for the proximity sensor and a mark that was caused by the liquid. The mark is getting larger constantly and now has most of my screen taken over. The touch screen still functions there but the mark is a gigantic nuisance. I also checked behind the battery and there isn't a sticker to detect water. So if there is no definite indicator that it was liquid damage should I take my phone to verizon, should I just cut my losses and buy an off contract phone, or should I just suck it up and deal with it?
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2
There is supposed to be one on the edge of the battery itself, one in one of the screwholes of the red chassis cover, and one on the internal board near the headphone jack.
Make your own risk assessment based on the location of the liquid relevant to those areas, and know that sugar still may leave a telling residue after drying.
If there is no sticker, I would assume they would immediately think you removed it, thereby voiding your warranty. If they catch it after you've sent it in, you're SOL.

I dropped my last rezound in the toilet.. it completely submerged and after grabbing it and trying to get the back cover off to pull the battery (with wet hands :/) as I'm sure you can imagine how long that took. After getting the battery out I let it sit in rice for 36hrs booted back up and had zero problems.. that being said when I returned my rezound for over heating issues over five months ago Verizon didn't/ still hasn't said anything about it. And i seriously doubt they'll pull part every rezound that got sent back. Especially of it boots up..

I had something similar happen with a thunderbolt. I had a bottle of snapple break open in my backpack, and it just doused my phone. I let it dry out, and it booted, then immediately hard bricked. Never breathed life into it again. I used the asurian warranty because the stickers were clean and you couldn't see water damage under the screen.

If he did and provided that he doesn't try and claim warranty which it seems like everyone enjoys going in situations like this where there is no proof. Although it's not exactly water damage as much as accidental but eh.

They should make water proof phones so that people don't keep losing them to water it helps the owner and saves manufacturer time dealing with it.

well most warranties do not cover water damage..so once your water damage strip turns pink, that's it, BAM. No warranty.
I could be wrong though.
Do they have some kind of "VOID" sticker so when you open it they can tell? or what?

Yes. When looking at the back of the phone with the cover off, the middle screw on the right side has a sticker that says "VOID".

The sticker on the screw always said VOID. If it's there, they know you didn't open the phone (or you replaced the sticker). If it's missing, they will know you have opened it (or you took off the sticker or it fell off). Maybe it would make more sense for that sticker to say NOT VOID.
And to your first question, you would open the phone, replace the water damage sticker, close the phone, and then replace the VOID sticker on the screw.

yeah that's what I was implying, you could just get a new sticker and HTC wouldn't be the wiser.. until they take the phone apart and see lots of scratch marks, etc

Like Max said, if you break the sticker (or remove it, etc) THEN it's void. That's how all void stickers work. This sticker was just too small to put a lot of lettering on, so they just put "VOID" on it.
