[Q] Specific Roms for the Fascinate???? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know there is a listing for Roms for the Fascinate, I havent posted ever but been a long time follower so I know quite a bit about roms and flashing and the such but I saw this in a different thread......

Also, I Got ICS MIUI Up from the Captivate.
Very nice. Especially with the radio working.
Laggy, but nice.
Could you please post a link to ur port of 2.1.20?
It wouldnt let me post in that thread so......
Enyo are you saying you used the Captivate 2.1.20 Miui rom on the Fascinate? and it worked?

Umm, I wouldn't get your hopes up in regards to usable roms from enyo. Part of the reason he was recently banned is for creating hype threads for roms that never came to fruition, or that were just pure kangs. If you search the fascinate forums for his posts you'll see what I mean.
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to put anyone down here, I'm just relaying what I've seen in my admittedly limited time in the fascinate community.

Cool, thanks. Well do you have any info on the subject in general? Like can i use a vibrant or captivate custom rom for the Fascinate?
I know when i had the captivate you could flash I9000 to it and use custom roms made for it. Is there something like that, that can be done? or not with miui?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen people talking about doing it. Well, actually I've seen people on the mesmerize post in the ICS discussion thread, but I don't know that I've seen anything about it the other way around. I think the fascinate/mesmerize/showcase have more in common with each other than the captivate and vibrant.

It could possibly be done if someone wanted to kang it, and port it to the fascinate. I know that's a common practice with MIUI roms.

RCA TV out

Has anyone found a way to get the tv out to work on the fascinate yet? I would assume a simple package from one of the other sgs phones could take care of it. I know there was an old post about it, but everyone seems to have forgot about it. Ive also heard rumor of it being applied in the 2.2 update, any word on that? Thanks
Sent from my SCH-I500
I believe there are already two other threads discussing this.
I dont know about RCA out but I saw my Samsung rep demo a micro-usb to HDMI cord that works with the 2.2 update.

another useless thread... I cant imagine how crazy this forum gonna be when roms start rolling out
Why the flame? I check these forums daily and this isn't exactly a hot topic. My first post after lurking for a while and youre already jumping me.

You shouldn't post a new thread when it's already being discussed. Try posting in an existing thread instead off cluttering the boards.
Ok sorry man will do

Roms..

Hey Guys,
Im just wondering what roms you guy's are using.
Are there any ICS based roms yet ? or does anyone know the official release date of ICS for GS2 ?

sorry admins
Well, I think we all remember what it was like being new to ROMS and flashing. I certainly could have used some advice
The only ICS based rom out is an alpha some bugs are present in it however. Link below, they've cancelled development, until CM9. Full description on the website.

If you like a ROM with some nice tweaks and great battery life then I would check out ANDROIDMEDA. Thats what I'm using, very happy with it. Might be in the other 'Original Development' forum.
Hope it helps

I think the main problem with such threads is that they usually get closed down by the admins because it all comes down to personal preference. Well that is what they say before they lock them.
They advise users to experiment to find what works for them. Seriously, I've seen about 3 of them closed in the last week.
BTW, I use checkrom. Very good and easy to customise with its kitchen app. Give it s go...it has it all.

You can also flash the i9100 ROMs and use the hellraiser package.
I think we are in the lull before the storm. Once the full i9100 ICS source drops, and a port can be made for the i777, things will pick back up to a feverish pace.
Plus, what else is there to do? Everything I have tried is stable, smooth, and generally great. If themes is what you want try CM7/MIUI, but have hundreds of themes available.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I would flash some i9100 roms aka international SGS2. There are quite a few good ones. All you have to do is flash one of them and hellraise it and it will work most of the time. Start out in the Hellraiser thread and then check out the QA thread it gives some helpful info about not flashing roms with bootloaders and what not. AOSP (cm7/miui) based ROMs do not work with the Hellraiser.
ROMs are super-duper secret. You're obviously not in the loop.

someone may have flashed an international ROM, but here we can pretty much completely assure you that that person did NOT hellraise it. I think the hellraiser package has pretty much got it down well enough that there really shouldnt be any worry with it, fixes keyconfigs, kernel and some other things, so u dont need to worry much or wait for anything on that front anyway

Pfft, you mean the HTC 8525 (TyTN).

At last, I 777 feels like the Captivate

I always felt Captivate was in the forefront of development (when I had it, back in the days). Even now, it already have ICS (I need to dig out the old captivate, glad I didn't sell it). But in last months, so many I9100 ROMs are porting, it feels like the old days with the Captivate.

And this is the reason why I dont mind the hellraised roms getting their own threads (or at least their own section). This thread is case and point. (this is in reference to the other thread where it was in discussion about what to do with those roms, since they technically aren't new development). Hellraising i9100 rom's is nothing new but many people either (1) didnt know about it because they dont read or (2) they didnt want to try it because they were too nervous to attempt it.

There's also possilbe bugs that come about after hellraising them. It's good to see others port them and work out the bugs since many of us don't have the time or know how to do so.

Haha. That's right. But now I am flashing a rom a day.right now, I am using lidroid. But I am already thinking about the next one.
We gaining new devs and porters. It's good only took a few months. I took the past week reading up on a ton of things. Figured out how to edit stuff for multi-dpi and how to build a rom. It's been interesting. I'm happy I finally took the time to learn some more about it.

Fully is not the right word. How about mostly. Audiohacked kernel will allow for in call audio but it can be unreliable(See Entropy's op, do not expect call audio to be without issue). From most accounts its a nice Rom to "toy"(from OP, too) with but revert back to whatever stable GB rom you're used to after done playing
Maybe try Reading through his thread to see if it's "fully working"?(Thread is not that old so its pretty easy to read through the entire thing) Here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512900

Porting/Converting or hellraising i9100 roms question for devs.

So I was wondering when all the devs are converting i9100 already built roms and putting them in the dev section here do you all ask for permissions from the original roms dev? Just curious as I decided to convert an i9100 xwla4 rom and theme it and change things to properly work on our phones for my OWN personal use/testing. I did this JUST to learn how to do it basically. I have thought about sharing my version but wanted to know the question above or if others are JUST giving the ORIGINAL links and thanks in their op when they post them. Thanks.
Also any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Give credits
Do updates and changes if your going to post a thread

Without question, you should definitely ask. Worst case scenario is they say no. Best case is that you guys collaborate and we the community ends up with something better
One way that this would actually benefit them is if we keep threads over here, then we are not cluttering up their threads with issues that may only pertain to i777s.
Agreed - ALWAYS ask first. Even if a project appears unmaintained - at least make an attempt at contact and wait a reasonable amount of time first. Sometimes developers take a break and plan to resume work - and when someone "takes up their flag" without talking to them it makes them angry. (This recently happened in the I9100 kernel community - some guy "rebirthed" Ninphetamine without Hacre's permission and then immediately started throwing in features that Hacre would historically flame people for asking for. On top of this, Hacre is seriously considering resuming work when ICS hits.)
Thanks for the comments. I decided to ask in case I eventually wanted to get it onto our devices properly but I got a reply of NO. Bummer cause I liked the CheckRom.

No, it used parts of their themes plus some of my added morphs. Maybe theh will port ot over eventually because it is an excellent rom with really noce features. As close as I could get on a self contained rom with built in theme engine to cm7 with all its extras.

Nobody cares about personal use.... they usually have issues for re-posting it.
Some devs are just like that and some don't care.
