This does seem quite localised...I've experienced the same thing. Might try some things to remedy it first....

received it on my ns4g but yet on my evo 3d.
not really excited to receive it as i've seen quite a few issues with it on other devices from a developer's perspective. i remember reading the market has a silent update feature which allows it to automatically upgrade itself.
also, i'm sure you could grab the apk from another device, many of which ive seen posted online and use that to manually upgrade.
hope that helps!
3.1.5???

I am not sure if this is the one you are talking about, but I have build 3.1.5 that I got with a new ROM and I don't care much for it, mostly because it is slow and hangs up a lot. I have to FC it and relaunch to get it to work. I hope this is not the newest one, but it looks different from the one I had before.

[Q] Time without signal

Hey everyone. I searched the forums but couldn't find any info. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing 100% time without signal since updating to ICS? I never had this problem with GB. I'm on Telus if that helps at all.

Mine said the same thing when I would sleep at night. Are you connected to Wifi the whole time? If so, go into the wifi settings and tell it to stay running while in sleep mode etc etc.

Telus doesn't use wifi calling, so the two interrupting each other is less likely.

Ah yes forgot about that one =] Sorry
same here (stock s-on ota update). nothing to worry about, as it's a software glitch. previous versions of android had this glitch as well.

That's what I kinda figured. Of course, the Telus support insisted it was something with my phone and not a result of the OTA. Gotta love those guys.
Please keep all question related threads in the Q&A section. Thank You.

Just updated to ICS from stock system/rom and having issues...

Alright so I've never rooted my phone or done anything fancy with it as far as that goes. Recently the ICS update was released and I didn't update right away, wasn't sure how bad it would mess up my current settings etc. After reading that it retained all my settings and functionality I decided to upgrade. Ok so first off I can't Tether anymore and my portable wifi hotspot does not work either, I'm on Rogers and in Canada, never heard of 'tethering plans' such as other people refer to with AT&T. I have my 4g enabled, can retrieve internet access, and as soon as I turn on my portable hotspot my phone is unable to access the 4g anymore, It enables a wifi hotspot but anything that connects to it gets limited connectivity and can't access the internet either. It's like the phone just shuts it off automatically. I used to use this all the time and was one of my favorite features about my phone.. If I'm unable to use this I don't even want the data plan that I currently have, the data plan I decided on DUE to this feature.. So I'm gonna be pretty pissed off if this amazing little update is trying to force me to pay for something that I already pay extra to utilize properly.
I could be wrong here but I'm pretty damn sure that the battery life has dropped by close to 20% I can watch the percentage go down while I'm doing stuff and it seems to be losing life a lot quicker now, and I noticed that after the first day of using ICS. The resolution on the unlock screen seems to be botched, It's very squished... My old version never did this, and it's kind of annoying for my background images and having the clock looking out of whack.
I'm not sure what to do, there doesn't seem to be an update and as far as I know the update has been out for awhile now, why hasn't this stuff been fixed, who can I make official complaints to as far as Samsung or Rogers goes? I've checked these forums a bit and people seem to be having a lot of issues, some similar to mine some not, some I may have just had the luck to avoid so far. Is factory reset the only real option to fix things, and will that even help my tethering issues?
Anyone? :\
Is there a way to revert back to the old version?
There's a definite increase in battery drain while the device is just sitting there with the screen turned off doing nothing and the tethering thing is really annoying...

Hysterics, yeah, same issue here. Waited for ICS update before I decided to go custom. So I just updated last week and have noticed faster battery drain and my hotspot no longer works.
It blanks out and after 30 seconds it gives you a message "Unfortunately Settings Has Stopped"
How master resets have you done?
I haven't done it yet, but I've heard a multiple master reset may fix the problem.
It's just doing a reset is a pain in the arse!
Yes,
there is a return to stock option for you...it can be found here:

Read, read, read....
This method "will" return you to factory state. And you must read the entire thread, and follow the links to get a working device again.
hope this helps you.....g

Just noticed this thread is a month old....And you likely have a solution by now.
Now posted for future reference.
OP, if you see this, and meet with success, please place the word "solved" in the thread title.
It will steer other users to your solution, and help keep the threads clean.
Thank you !!....g
For me what stinks besides the battery and hotspot everything else seems to work great.
Just hate to have to go through the master reset for one issue. As opposed if I had sevral issues.
But it is what it is I guess!

What "it is" is that OTA upgrades to ICS are problematic.
I'd prefer flashing ICS directly through Odin using a stock ROM from samfirmware.com

Thanks guys for the info.
Idk if Hysterics solved his/her problem, but I'm probably going to have to go down this path.

GPS dead after installing 5.0 OTA

Has this happened to anybody else? The GPS WAS working on my GPe, I used it frequently before the update. I've tried a multitude of different apps, but it's just dead Jim.
I don't really expect anyone to reply to this post, but I figured I'd just throw it out there.

Try fasterGPS and then run GPS Data and leave it for a good while...
just tested mine and maps.google didn't work so am installing these now...
Edit
after installing fasterGPS I got a fix and google maps could get a pos, but chrome didn't want to - this may be something I've turned off on it though

Thank you for the reply. I installed Faster GPS, but it won't run because I don't have root.
I've got the same issue ...GPS is no longer working after the OTA ....

Z3v GPS

Has anyone else noticed frequent GPS issues with the new 5.1.1 update? My D6708 either sees GPS satellites and can't triangulate, or it can't see any. I've reset the agps settings and tried all of the GPS fix apps on the play store, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
Yes, have noticed it since the update, both of our phones do it, only thing we have done to get it to work is restart the phone, will work for a while then stop again.

I've noticed it happen even after I restart the phone several times. I just downgraded back to kitkat, so hopefully that fixes the problem until Sony or the community releases a patch.

I don't think reverting back to KitKat will be with the trouble. 5.1.1 is the possibly the latest and only thing the Z3v will ever get.

Yeah don't see MM coming or any other patches from VZW or Sony.
I am just killing time with this phone (Z3v) until all the accessories get here so I can start using my BB Priv.
I also noticed this recently. It was the first time I had really used GPS since the latest update. I thought it might be related to having to reattach the back cover due to separation but now it appears it's a more general issue.

I reverted back to kitkat, and I'm still having issues with the GPS. I'm pretty sure that the problem is hardware related, so I'm going to have to just wait until my Verizon contract is up. I've read a few articles online with the GPS issues of the Z3 models in general. I'm thinking that it might have just been one of the areas they cut corners on. If anyone has a fix in mind, I'm open to try anything at this point.
