The Prime froze up while browsing. Did a power reset and it began to reboot, but got stuck at the ASUS, Inspiring Innovation Persistent Perfection screen with the loading circle at the bottom. Is there a backdoor way to do a "battery pull" off sorts like I read can be done with the Razr?
My battery pull was to exchange it for a new prime. My old prime did the same thing after the ICS update. Sticking with honeycomb this time.

After calling ASUS, the reset button (which at first glance appears just to be another microphone) was the solution. I had to simultaneously push in the reset button, hold down the volume down and power button until the the "wipe data" icon appeares. If it's already highlighted quickly push the volume up key twice, otherwise click down on the volume rocker once to highlight it and then push the volume up key twice. You will be wiping everything, but at least you'll have your tablet back.
Is that the top or left side hole?
Glad if worked for you. I did a wipe data also and while it did help at first it later came back.

First question... do you have 3 arms? They don't make it easy!
How long did it take (should it take) for this wipe data icon to appear? I tried a few times and couldn't get it to show, but at least my Prime is now off, which is good as the damn thing didn't want to turn off (holding the power button just reset it, boot, rinse repeat).
Just two arms
I can't remember how long it took, but I think it was a few seconds (maybe 15). I had an ASUS employee walk me through it.

I might give them a call tomorrow if I can't get it working, cos right now it's a nice champagne coloured paperweight.
No problems since then, sooooo that's good news. This happened to me months ago.

I used Aroot to root my phone, week later I then used Titanium Backup to restore; thats when the trouble started. It cleared out my fingerprints cannot change password or install new fingerprints or do a factory hard reset. Any help would be appreciated.
there's a way to factory reset when turning on the phone, i think it's power+volume down to get the recovery menu, search the forums. you could also flash the leaked beta firmware. again, search
hmmm very useful tips .. i think if any send instruction step by step its will be better for us ..
To do a hard reset on the Atrix, you power off phone- then press power button down at the same time holding the volume rocker down. Continue clicking the volume rocker down until you see a message on the top left screen that says recovery- then click up on the volume rocker. You will see an android with a exclamation in a triangle on your screen. At this point tap the bottom right corner of screen then you will see some blue text on the top left corner of screen. Scroll using the volume button down to wipe data/ reset then click up on the volume. It will take about 5 minutes. After just log into motoblur account if you still have that. Hope this was helpful.

Once I activate it, it just spins and spins and won't reset.
I'm having trouble getting android market to work and was advised to reset the tab.
Now what can I do to fix the danf thing?

Therefore I have to understand what you really did. What do you mean with "activate"? Have to set-off the fast-boot? Have you first reset and enter the boot-loader? What really happens and where?
I think the op is trying to factory reset the flyer and the busy indicator just spins./freeze. I also experienced this and had to reset the flyer. The market was acting up then I works fine 2-3 days later.

I had market issues as well and a factory reset and formatting of all the storage worked for me. Takes a bit for everything to settle. How long has it been spinning/did it spin?

Use the Bootloader to reset
If you aren't trying this from the bootloader you should try that, you will need to disable Fast Boot under the Power menu in your settings. Turn the tablet all the way off, and then power it back up by holding Vol - and Power at the same time until you get the BugDroid's skating across the bottom screen, you use Vol +/- to navigate and Power to select, one option should be a factory reset.
IF you are already trying it this way, I dunno what else you would do other than placing a factory ROM zip and having the bootloader flash it!
Thanks everyone for the advice... I'm going to try and get to the bootloader.

my flyer doesn't even HAVE a factory reset button under privacy. Yeah I know its weird. I'm starting to suspect I bought some skinned version of the flyer.
But the power off, volume down and power button worked for me though. I still didn't seem to fix the problem even after factory reset, I don't know what kind of flyer I got. I believe its UK version.
For some reason I can't shut my touchpad down. If I hold the power button down, not much happens until I release the button. Then the screen turns off. Tap it again and it's back.
Any ideas?
thats strange try a hard reset, hold the power button and the home button down for literally a minute or so or until it resets. it will reboot into moboot hopefully. you might have to do that and go back into webos to completely shut down. good luck
Thanks for the reply, I was just trying it when the battery ran out!
But I'll give it a go if the problem returns, thanks.
Ran into the same problem today. The power menu, along with various power/reboot widgets wouldn't work, but after about 20 seconds of holding home+power it worked and booted to moboot.
I had this happen to a coworker, after I had recently upgraded her to alpha3. I tried everything to repair it before deciding to start from scratch. The best thing to do is restart using the power and home buttons (hold them until reboot).
Then think about reinstalling.
Good luck!

I had this same issue today. I downloaded Quick Boot from the app store and it allowed me to restart. Worked great
just happened me too, it MAY have something to do with low battery, i noticed someone above had the problem with low battery. mine happens to be low too
also, i turned off lockscreen earlier, maybe that was related.
ok so I'm new to this forum, was suggested to go here when i got my first smartphone.
So basically my idiot friends were messing with my phone with the pattern lock. They messed it up 15 times and now I have to sign in with my gmail. But the problem is that whenever I try to sign in, it gives me invalid username/password. I know I'm putting in the right password and right username because I've done it about a million times on my computer and tried to unlock my phone about the same amount of times. I've also tried all my other gmails that my phone is registered with but none work.
I'm still on stock ICS because im new to the android world and haven't gotten around to figuring out everything. Thanks for helping!
Okay first did you possibly have your Android debugging on? If not the only way us a factory reset. You can reset it by turning it off, hold down power and volume down. While holding volume down let go of the power. Then using your volume keys select factory reset and select with the power button.

Okay so first press down the Vol. Down button. Next press the power button firmly for 3 seconds. DO NOT let go of the Volume down button till a white screen (Your bootloader) appears. Then use the volume buttons to select factory reset (If it's not there look for bootloader or somthing like that) press the power button to select.
Volia your phone is now factory reset!

EDIT 2: FIXED, thank you Checkm8!

Original Question:
My phone won't boot into recovery by using the manual method. I can boot into it no problem using GooManager to tell the phone to reboot into recovery, but no by powering off my phone, then holding down the power button and volume up. The phone'll vibrate and say "RECOVERY BOOTING" in blue in the upper left, but the screen will just go black and the phone will boot normally after 2 seconds.
This isn't a big problem by itself, but my phone also seems to have a problem with wiping system on its own or something, because multiple times of rebooting my phone just to reboot, the phone won't boot at all. It'll just stay at the "Galaxy S4" splash screen.
EDIT: Flashing to complete stock using Odin doesn't fix the recovery issue, tried it multiple times.
I had a similar issue but it was my fault. I figured out later hold (in this order) volume up, home, and power buttons. Once the phone vibrates, let go of the power button but continue holding the other two until you see "Recovery Booting". Let me know if that works for you.

You are correct sir.... Its not like the S3 that you had to hold all 3 buttons until you saw "Recovery Booting"..

Thanks, that got it to boot into recovery! But now it's just sitting at the "teamwin" screen and has been for the past 5 minutes... I'm going to assume that it's a one time thing and carry on with my life regardless. but now I know how to boot int orecovery the right way! I had gotten it to boot when i first got the phone a few times but I guess I had since started doing it incorrectly.
