Setting an Mp3 as ringtone or notification tone - Cyanogen7 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Maybe I searched the wrong keywords...
I can't seem to set an Mp3 as my ringtone as I just recently flashed:

Any ideas?
EDIT: Turns out you have to put the mp3's you want into folder on your SD card named "ringtones" and it'll show up on the list. Alternatively download ringdroid

Does WM2005 have MP3 ringtone support?

Subject says it all, in case you missed it  :
Does WM2005 have MP3 ringtone support?
yes, it has mp3 ringtone support
i copy song.mp3 to root of storage card/storage/extrom or to My Documents and i can set it as ringtone
Every device that have Windows Media Player 10 have mp3 support.
I have WM2k5 on my XDA, and cant add an MP3 ringtone?
Come'on guys, try to decide. MP3 or not?
Which versions of WM2005 do you have?
How about alert sounds and other voices? Are there possibility for MP3?
Hate that MS policy to push their own formats instead of mainstream..
I can't use MP3 as ringtone (with media player 10)
Subj
But I really wanna use MP3
mp3 works ok for me added in root of sd card
Well from settings>System> Add ring tone you can assain mp3 tone for ring tone and alarm tone. Now I'll cut so of my mp3's and I'll make myself mp3 ring tone.
or you can manually put MP3 files in the \Windows\Rings directory of your device
if u add em to the windows/rings folder then that takes up memory on ur xda, i found that just by having them in the root of the sd card that they appeared in the available ringtones section of phone/options.
so i didnt need to add them, so u can add upto 1 gb of mp3
this was with 1.501 96 2005 btw
guys sorry
I've missed my forum - for blue angel platfrom there are some troubles. you can't choose mp3 from "add ring tone" even after all latest update (WM10)

Go to Settings --> Sound & Notification --> Notification Tab --> Messaging: New text message
Ok works, thanks alot!!
i want to know if there is anyway that you can put a mp3 as ringtone or a wav file or something plaese help thanks
i use ringo mobile for that. wav, mp3, aac, ogg, wma ... no problem for ringo making as ringtone or sms... i manage my ringtone groups with ringo. thats more comfortable =)
just copy any mp3,wma in the windows directory and then select it from settings>>sounds and notifications>>notifications, then choose event and assign a sound

Click to collapse
If I am not mistaken, I think that only wav works for SMS. mp3 or wma works for incoming calls only
Here are mine if you are looking for some "inspirations"
well if you ever saw the movie eurotrip, you may enjoy this .wav/.mp3 file
enjoy lol
EDIT: I have a .wav for an alert tone, and .mp3 for my ringtone (not this mp3 but something else)...and everything is on my SD card (in the root directory, never tried hiding it in a folder)
EDIT SQUARED: I uploaded another .zip file, it has two mp3 ringtones that i use, my email notification noise, and two other .wav files (the old and new SNCF tone)

(solved) how to change message notification sound?

Hi guys!
Just wondering how to change the sound which is played when a sms comes in ( or email or calendar and so on) to one of my own mp3 sounds ( not just a sound preinstalled with the phone from that list in the sound settings)
Greets felikz
So how was it solved?
Apologies, answer was in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542151&highlight=change+notification+sound
And you can use mp3's for notifications, just enable SD card notifications, place your file in the sdcard/media/audio/notifications directory then bounce (reboot) your phone.
Create the directory if you don't already have it. Other useful directories are /alarms and /notifications.

[Q] Problem with Notification Sounds

Hello all. I am using a Huawei U8500 with CyanogenMod 7 (2.3.5-Slax-SP10-3) and have been having an issue with ringtones/notification/UI/unlock (a.k.a. all) sounds. Before, none of the sounds (except Music) would work on CM7, but I figured that out. It was the sound profiles that were overriding all my other attempts at resetting volumes.
However, while my sounds were disabled, I used the Music app to set a song as a ringtone to see if the sounds would work again. Now that I have solved the issue with the volumes, every single one of the sounds (again, except music) are replaced with the song that I set as my ringtone. When I go to Settings>Sound and try and select a new sound, all the previews of the sounds are even of that song. I checked the .ogg files in /system/media/audio and they still play the correct sound.
Now for the questions:
-Has anyone encountered this issue or something similar?
-If not, how does Android handle setting a song as a ringtone?
-Does it put the .mp3 file somewhere on the root phone storage? (If so, I could just delete or rename it and hope for the best.)
-Or, does it simply reference the .mp3 file on the SD? (If so, I could rename it so that it wouldn't be able to fetch it.)
Thank you very much for any help!

Hi there,
Does someone know where i can find the notification sounds and how to replace them with my own recorded sounds ?

Root required ..
System Media Audio Notifications
Format is OGG .

as far as i know you don't need root.
make directory in SD card called "media"
inside media directory make a "audio" directory.
inside audio make 2 more folders: "notifications" and "ringtones"
put notifications in notification folder and ringtones in ringtone folder. format can be mp3,wav,mp4,ogg,etc. default system notifications should get sounds from the "notifications" folder.
It worked.
Thnx all
