Instructions for rooting Fascinate on Mac? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having trouble finding up to date step-by-step instructions for rooting my Fascinate with Gingerbread installed (2.3.5/EH03) using a Mac computer.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

you will need to push the superuser 2.3.6 file via adb...

Thanks for the info, droidstyle.

Sorry for bringing this old topic up. Is there a step-by-step instructions for fassy owners that use mac beside using terminal? (for example something like odin)
All the instructions I found when googled were very old and outdated.
thanks

look in the dev section for the eh03 one click heimdall file by sixstringsg

Rooting stock V20C (2.3.3)

Hi folks...
According to reports on this forum, some people seem to have managed rooting their stock 2.3.3 roms.
However, I don't seem to be able to do this
I used the official LG update tool to upgrade to V20C, and it looks like I have a perfectly working Gingerbread installation, but when I try to root (using Gingerbreak, which I thought should work), nothing happens (Gingerbreak keeps running without changing anything).
In the DEV forum FAQ, there is no information about rooting GB roms (yet).
If anyone who successfully did this, would care to comment, I'd be very much obliged
thanks

He cannot do any such thing with stock recovery. ("I used the official LG update tool to upgrade to V20C".) Duh!

Either that or do this:
in ADB:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
then open superoneclick and root (using psneuter).
Thanks, that worked fine. First time I tried I had some problems but I must have done something wrong

Use the EXE installer since obviously you have no clue what you are doing.
crap... didn't see the text file. adb has been moved to platform-tools. sorry
Doktornotor seems to have disappeared (deleted?) and his signature's gone with him also, it's impossible now to search on his username.
Does anyone have a link to the thread where he describes how to root by flashing? I'm probably too stupid to wrap my head around the search function on this site because I really can't find the thread. (by the way I don't think it was the general thread where he tells you how to flash gingerbead)

I believe the file to be flashed was this, but I haven't tried it and I can't find the original thread either. :/

EDIT: found it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146566 (3rd post) Maybe Ciaox should mention in his howto-repo that this contains info about rooting stock 2.3.3

[Q] rooting my Galaxy S II

Hello everyone,
I had like to know how I can root my phone, now you may treat me as whatever you like, however, I just got this phone and am looking for a thread which will explain the rooting process of this phone. I am a very quick and fast learner, so, if you could just direct me towards the right thread it would be very helpful.
Thanks for your time.

Have a look at the xda bookmarks in my signature. In there you will find links for both CF-Root, which you flash using Odin, and Easy Rooting Toolkit, which is a 1-click method. Both Odin and the 1-click method require drivers installing on your PC, so you'll need to install Kies first as this includes the relevant drivers.
Just take your time reading through those threads and pick whichever suits you best.

Follow these quick steps to root without increasing your custom binary counter:
1) Download DoomLord's zergrush exploit package from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
2) Follow instructions and your phone is rooted, no need to flash anything
3) If you need to flash custom ROMS after rooting then buy 'mobile Odin' app by chainfire from market and enjoy Android.
Hope it helps

I think what you need is actaully something to Root stock roms right?
So look here
Yeah, that looks about right, many thanks. Any chance you could point me at tutorial so I can understand what "Streakmod" is and how to work with it?

Here
I'm very grateful for the link, but it's a bit of a Pandora's box, as the first instruction is to "Unzip and flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img". I've never Flashed before, have no idea how to, so I now need a help file on how to flash before I can run Streakmod before I can then finally root!
Try as I may, I simply can't find anywhere a beginners guide to rooting. Surely one must exist somewhere?
Before someone posts the quote about "no spoon feeding here"; I'm not asking to be spoon fed, I'm simply asking for some guidance as to where I can find information that I need to read in order to learn - FROM SCRATCH - how to root.
Can anyone please help with pointing me in the right direction?
And in your other thread I suggested looking at the flashing guide in the wiki. However, Radimus has posted a guide to rooting that I used to root mine. Search for one of his posts because his flashing guide is in his signature.

[Q] All one-click root links are broken, what to do?

So I have UKK6. The links here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285894 are broken. Entropy's updated links aren't one-click, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18065445&postcount=1.
What to do!? I cannot find a guide for Odin. The stickies are a confusing mess... Help!
Are you trying to get root access or are you trying to install a custom ROM?
If you are indeed rooting, try using the Hotfile link from the '2c' section of this thread by creepyncrawly. The 2c link leads to an Odin3 OneClick file, and is currently working. This is what I used and it has worked like a charm.
For installing the kernel after the rooting process, you'll wanna use Mobile Odin. They're different programs.
Be sure to bookmark that creepyncrawly thread -- it is a great guide and was singlehandedly responsible for giving me the security of mind I needed to take the plunge as a new user.

I advise you to reread the stickys until your confusion is reduced. Unless someone is going to come to your house to fix your phone, you might want to know what you're doing...

Here's a good tutorial that I found. It worked perfectly for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2KhSKpt4hs
How is an i777 with a i9100 bootscreen and warning triangle working "perfectly?"

This is probably a newbie question.....

I have an at&t s2 I777.....it is rooted one i guess (it was gifted)..
I want the ICS on it...and believe me i know nothing about how to get it....
i googled and found many people explaining the process for a windows PC version.
I have a mac and if some one would please care to explain (step-by-step is much appreciated)..i attach the present status of the I777...
Thanks....
Senior members will probably scream SEARCH at you 'til blue in the face, so I'll throw you a bone since I've been stalking for far too long.
This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878686) is a guide to Heimdall (basically Odin for Mac) find a kernal to flash (I started with Siyah http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19650906&postcount=1) and follow the Heimdall guide to flash to your GS2. Next you can download any ICS Rom (I've been using ShoStock2 since version 1.1) to your phone and flash the zip using CWM (there are a plethora of guides on this should you need it, so search.)
Check out my thread, no need for a computer to flash the update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722064
I would suggest you follow the guide linked in my signature. It has instructions for using heimdall with the mac.
Do *not* install Siyah 3.4 on your phone if you are running Gingerbread stock or modified firmware. You can not use an ICS kernel with a Gingerbread system.
If you have any questions or problems as you work through the guide, feel free to post your questions in that thread.
Edit: if you already have ClockworkMod Recovery on the phone, then you can just download the firmware distribution you want and flash it in recovery.

Yes, it is based on the last AT&T release. You will need CWM to install the ROM.

When you use mobile Odin, it gives you a choice to root while flashing.
