OK, atrix 4g is my first android phone. Got it about a week ago.
I experimented with it a few days then rooted it with superoneclick.
All went just as described in other forum posts regarding this method. Thank you.
Then along came the update to 4.1.57 and guess what?. I applied it, yes, I did...
SO, now my phone is no longer rooted. =(
I figured I would wait for the 4.1.57 update fixes to be circumvented by the wonderful devs here and elsewhere.
Now comes my quandry. I find posts here saying specifically that atrix 4g 4.1.57 is rooted or can be rooted again, but NOT for "Bell" (I assume ATT?) atrix phones.
What is the diff between ATT (Bell?) atrix phones and others?
If I can't root now, will I be able to, possibly later, if I wait for the wonderful devs to do their magic?
Regards,
T.
This is the wrong forum for this question . If you need more help, go to the thread for rooting the newest software (How to root 4.1.57) , or ask in general forum.

If you bought ur Atrix in an ATT store in the USA....you are good to use the hacks. Bell is the Canadian carrier that sells the Atrix as well. Alot of mods here don't function yet BC there is no restore SBF for the Bell Atrix yet.

Is the update out on the Bell atrix?
And why does that affect you anyway you have an ATT atrix.

It effects me in that I was unaware that BELL != ATT. I know now that my atrix should be safe to root, etc.
As I said in my original post, this is my first android based phone, and I was just trying to make sure I am not about to create an expensive paperweight out of my new phone...

don't do anything until you can run 'adb devices' and get a response, 'fastboot reboot' reboots and rsdlite recognizes your phone. Then at least you're in a position to follow instructions to get it going again if you screw things up.
I've rooted my WiFi only Flyer and reverted to "stock" (US, Best Buy WiFi only RUU isn't available, so I chose what I thought was closest). I need to root again to get GTalk w/video to work, so I can see my daughter, who lives 2,000 miles away from me, but when I try to run revolutionary, the cmd prompt hangs at "waiting for device" and won't budge... I really need to get rooted, or I can't see my daughter. I recently lost my job, and my laptops are either busted or run windows 7 (blech) and seeing as my Photon is running 2.3.4, but can't handle GTalk w/video (awesome otherwise)... Well, I need root on my Flyer. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I would try re installing the htc drivers and see how that goes

Indeed you need to install the HTC Fastboot drivers from the Revolutionary site http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
Activate USB-Debugging in your Flyer Settings and your Win 7 Device Manager should show Android USB Devices if connected successfully.
Hi i need to unroot my flyer i have the Wifi only 16Gig how did you unrooted yours?
Did you get your Flyer s-off and rooted? What RUU did you flash?
Not sure if this is the case but I had the same problem with a UK 3G Flyer a couple days ago.... When you ran revolutionary were you in fastboot mode? Run it again from the home screen of your Flyer, that's what I did and it went through the whole process flawlessly.
Oh man, and I'm a tard... I just noticed that my fiancée's laptop didn't have the drivers installed. Forgot that I rooted on my old work laptop originally... DER!! Gonna install drivers and try again, and sorry for the dumb question, guys...

I have read a few posts that the HTD dev bootloader unlock app on the htc website isn't working for the Amaze. Anyone else having this issue today?
I wasn't able to unlock my new T-mobile US Amaze today. I get blank errors.
The error page says:
Error Code: .
Error Reason: .
I was getting this same error but i thought it was because i relocked mine and was unlocking it again. Luckily i found my unlock.bin file from the first time so i was able to re-unlock mine. But yes i got the same error.
sent from my Amaze Quiksense 2.1.2 w/faux .006 kernel
Tried doing it for my friend today. I got the same issue.
same issue with me as well
I had the same problem. Thank god I found my unlock code as well. For awhile there I was sweating bullets. I guess either HTC is locking down for some reason or the website is just down. I don't know. Sucks tho. If you can't remember like I couldn't and since HTC won't give you any instructions after the error check out this this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L30M6j8Kt-8
Thanks for the video link!
I think this may be happening for other phones as well. It is hopefully just that the unlock program is down for the whole site and they didn't specifically take it off for the Amaze.
same issue here too.
Tried 3 phones. No luck.
Even though the error codes saying nothing for me, but i can see in the address bar that the page i have been redirected to is for a CID not allowed error.
Can you guys check what you address bar says at the error page?
I got an email not sent in the address bar.

Seems to be down again today. Been showing maintenance message since 07:00 GMT. The one day I go to unlock my bootloader on One X
Hi xda community,
I was wondering, given I cannot find any straightforward thread about this, I decided to create one. If you know if any, please feel free to point me there.
Long story short, my HTC EVO 3D was unlocked and rooted (4ext) S-ON with LeeDrOiD, and all was working smooth. Unfortunately, it started having this strange issue that if I pushed close to the antenna/camera it would turn off, and would turn on just after some time.
Sent it for repair after flashing back the original rom and relocking, got it back with another motherboard.
Now, HTCDEV unlock code won't unlock it any longer, and HTCDEV support are just a bunch of retards who have no idea what a smartphone looks like (and I really can't say I got patience with callcenters that just bounce you back and forth with emails that carry nothing but air).
I got the ICS upgrade then when it came out, although I must say I really wasn't that much eager about it, but it was so annoying that I let it go through. I find it to be very bugged in a lot of departments and very unstable, and was wondering if in the meanwhile someone had found another way to unlock this device aside using the HTCdev site (so I might try King Cobra's or some other ICS cooked roms).
Any guesses? Personally, I have to say, I'm guessing I'm never gonna get another HTC in my entire life. I had HTC from the Diamond 1 phone, but this stupid policy they have now really ticked me off, and to "ensure unlock" but to deny it in such childish ways definetly isn't something I expect from an Enterprise such as them. Guess SAMSUNG, or NOKIA with WM8 will serve my needs better...
For the time being though, if anyone of you guys had any insight...
HBOOT is 1.53.0007
S-ON
Stock Rom and all the Jazz
(obv locked ).
Thank you very much!

Offcourse it won't unlock with the same code... you basically got a whole new device. follow all the steps on the htcdev site again and you'll be unlocked.
I find the customer service of htc to be just fine.

I obviously used another code generated from HTCdev website...
Just to hint you... It does happen EVERYTIME they change your motherboard (and the HTC support is full of retards).

Hey all,
Long time user, first time poster. I have a bit of an issue that I'm trying to figure out. So the day before the evo 3d ICS update came out for sprint i decided to unlock the boot loader of my wife's evo 3d to remove all the crap apps that come pre-installed. Everything was a success, however, the next day, as previously mentioned, the ICS updates became available for the phone. I would really love to upgrade her phone but when i download the upgrade and try to install it i get the blue android with the yellow exclamation mark (meaning an error and won't install). I'm sure this is due to the unlocking of the phone. i tried re-locking the phone to no avail. So i'm just curious if i'm still able to do the upgrade to her phone to ICS (i'd also like to get sense 4.0). any help is much appreciated. thanks all

Since you unlocked it, S-OFF it so you can root it and flash ROMs. That's what I'd suggest you do
