I've gotta say - I've been a little disappointed since rooting my phone a couple weeks ago. I haven't gotten any additional features that I wanted - though running Olympus Rom - it seemed everything ran a little snappier than it used to.
However, today I found out that my MHL adapter no longer works. With Olympus, I got an immediate crash, then after reboot - my adapter only worked to charge the phone. No HDMI out.
Then - after installing a Nocturnal Rom which was supposed to be stock with some tweaks, all I get is an immediate crash when connecting to my MHL adapter. Whether or not the HDMI cable is connected. WTF.
Can anyone tell me a ROM they've got working MHL with? I'm guessing the hboot might make a difference, since I never got USB host capability and some other features I expected out of Olympus Rom.
i think olympus used my kernel and older version had hdmi/mhl issues on hw002 phones, but was fine on hw001 (i test on 001)
flash my r13 release over ur rom - should fix your issue.

Thanks Chad. Unfortunately, the new problem I'm having seems to be that for some reason - I can't flash a new kernel? No matter what I do - your old kernel shows up under the settings menu.
Thanks Chad - I was finally able to change my kernel to r13 using Flash Image GUI. MHL works great now!
It definitely seems to have been an issue with hw002. I still don't have USB host though - so if you find that it's possible to get us a kernel with working USB host for hw002 phones - please let us know.
Hi guys,
Is anyone having trouble with the GS2 HDMI cable? I just bought one and when I connect it to the TV it says "connecting" and then "no signal". I know one end is the HDMI out, the other is the USB in and the side one is the usb power feed. I´ve tried the power feed by connecting it to the tv and also tried connecting it to the GS2´s usb power charger....both times no luck. If you click on "sources" the HDMI port shows up as active but there is no signal. I´ve tried in 2 different TVs and the same happens on both.
Is there something I have to activate on the phone?
I´m on 4.0.3 - baseband I9100XXIk4 - build Illusion-ICS v1.01 XXI.PB-I9100
I´ve tested with a stock GS2 and it worked...got some static and "no signal" at some point, but overall it worked. Too bad it won´t work on my ICS

I don´t think it does. I´ll wait for the official Samsung ICS release.
Same problem with HDMI out
I have the same problem after upgrading to the official 4.0.3. Did you get it to work?
Sadly not. I guess when the official ICS comes out this will be fixed.
I have the LP7 ICS ROM and HDMI works fine. I have the Internation version of the SGSII and using Samsung's HDMI Adapter and it is powered from the mains power supply.
SO there is not a problem with ICS compared to GB.
I'm using this ROM GT-I9100_WanamLite.DXLP7.Deodexed.Stock.NO-WIPE & HDMI works perfect. It is a Samsung based ICS ROM.

Will Snow Leopards stock AT&T rom located in developers forum restore/provide MHL connection ability?
Edit: Sorry for mispelling your name Snow. It won't happen again.

which ROM does it not work for you with? Also the adaptor needs to be powered by micro usb , and the order that the cables get connected seems to matter. Connect to phone last, trial and error for other two.

I'm on CM 11-20140104-NIGHTLY-e970
Monitor: ACER AL1917W (DVI connection)
Micro USB-DVI adapter: iKross MHL
Connecting LGOG last indicates no connection. I am certain LGOG is powering since screen remains on.
It is why I ask if returning to SnowLeopords stock rom will restore MHL.

You could likely even just use a different AOSP-base rom, no need to go all the way back to 4.1.
I know for a fact that Houstonn's 4.3 PA builds work with MHL, and I believe the official CM10.2 build also work.

I can confirm it is working on Beanstalk 4.4 also , using Samsung MHL that came with Infuse.
Do you know what kernel has MHL support for CyanogenMod?

I installed the Beanstalk 4.4 rom which included the slimkat kernel. The mhl worked. I purchased a rocketfish adapter and plugged it into my hdmi tv and all seemed well. Unfortunately my LGOG started to get very hot. I reverted to my old CM 4.4 with cm kernel and heat problem solved but alas no mhl output.

cm10.2 mhl works. Joy.
Edit: Recent developments suggest I was wrong regarding the 10.2 rom. I reinstalled it and it seems to be working fine. I cannot get my dvi monitor to work but my hdmi tv works great. So I must purchase an hdmi monitor in order to have my LGOG serve as my desktop PC.
My thanks to OMGMatrix for suggesting 10.2 as a solution.
@XDFernando, try the 10.2. I think you will find it easy to get along with.
CM11 now supports mhl
I upgraded from 10.2 to 11 last night and tried connecting to my hdtv and lo-an-behold it mirrored my LGOG, even rotated the view.
I have also not working
CM11 MHL Working
I'm pleased to announce that I have reached my goal of replacing my desktop computer with my LGOG. I use bluetooth mouse and keyboard and connect my LGOG to an $80 LED HDTV via MHL adapter. I was inspired by this blog http://www.livingdigitally.net/2012/02/using-a-mobile-device-as-a-desktop-computer.html. YouTube videos now play through MHL without a problem. My thanks to the CM11 post by shellnut. I'm using the latest CM11 nightlies with the gapps-kk-20140105 and 3.4.0-CM+ kernel. Pretty neat.
Yo. I just got a new TP2 RHOD400 and i installed FRX07.1 full bundle on my phone (old rhod100 died and i think that is because of the GBX0 build).
It works better: smoother and doesn't make my battery hot. so - audio wasn't working, but i got this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076884
and so, after i thought everything is fine, the 3,5 headphone port doesn't work. it works when using usb adapter for headphones tho. so what do i do to make that port work?

Why not try the gingerbread builds. They are a lot new and had a lot more work put into them.

i installed them and came to conclusion that froyo build just works better for me. gbx0c works slower, drains my battery faster and makes it really warm. i would switch to gingerbread tho if the 3.5 port worked. unfortunately - i can't even get audio to work at all. i tried all the kernels i could find - not many tho, since most of the links died, like that one on xdandroid page. if you could provide a working link i'd be glad.

this is on NAND, i'm talking about booting from sd card but i guess that's obsolete. after booting GBX0C froyo build is all broken. no idea what's happening so might as well try using your build.

Hi,
I purchased the qi sticker for my phone cover and it worked fine when I was on the stock rom.
When I upgraded to CM 12.1, it showed that it was charging, but did not charge. Now that I am on BlissPop, the same thing, charging light goes on and it does not charge.
Is this a ROM issue or a QI sticker issue? I did buy the sticker on eBay (not sure how good it is).
Any thoughts or input would help.
Thanks,

This is a known issue on AOSP-based ROMs. Stock will charge just fine.
Hi,
Are there any ROMs that would work with it such as Paranoid Android?

Nope, that is an AOSP-based ROM.
Outside of stock, are there any non AOSP roms that work?
So.... you want something that is not based on either stock or AOSP? Forget Qi charging, how would this ROM be created?
I was under the impression that qi charging works with 777jon's AOSP kernel? There is some comments saying that it does as long as you don't overclock. I am back on stock and unable to test right now. Give it a try if you'd like.

Hi,
Will I have to re-install the ROM and apps after I do this? I have never flashed a Kernel before.

Nothing is wiped when flashing a kernel. Just make a backup then flash the kernel.
Edit- If you're flashing the 777jon kernel to test QI charging with it, please report your results.
OK. I installed the kernel and still no qi. You mention over clocking. How do I make sure that it isn't over clocked out of the box? Are there any more steps I need to do?

Darn, I don't think it's overclocked out of the box but clock speeds are adjusted with Synapse app on that kernel.

Seems to be working here
