Alright, some of you know that when I released my original root method, I got bored and went to B&N to root a nook tablet. WELL now that I have a bootable sdcard, I wonder if I should do the same thing again. Kind of like as something I find hilarious and kind of a "spit in the face" kind of thing. Anyway, leave your thoughts / comments below?

Its up to you. Any one can now make their own bootable Sd with a simple download and click.

Sure it might be funny to some people... but it's still technically a criminal act...
Ah, but I don't actually have to root, I can just load up a burned sdcard, and wait until they happen to reboot it.

Oh this is different. If they have empty SD card slots, and you just put one in, and don't screw with the internal memory, then no harm done, so no criminal act... (this does not mean they wouldn't try.)

Okay, here it goes. I was trying to get my phone to return to stock, because i had a problem with rooted phone. So, i was looking for Firmware for Returning to Stock. and i found one, and used Odin3 to force update with the firmware, then i turned on my phone... and the screen said AT&T WORLD***** or W/E!!!!... i accidently downloaded AT&T Galaxy S Captivate's firmware... and now i cant go to 'Reset Factory Mode' or 'Downloading Mode'. can anyone help me? if i just can go to downloading mode, i can fix this. is there anyway to auto-goto downloading mode when you insert USB? like un-screwing the phone and doing something? i can take any-risk to fix this. thank you

Sorry bud.. More than likely even if we could flash back the correct firmware, bml12 was probably overwritten, and we can't replace that, so you'd have a device that won't even use the cell radio.
Best bet is to disconnect the wire to the screen internally so that nothing appears on boot up, then take it back to Verizon.

If you come to a sprint store for service and repair, make sure you remove root files from the phone. I figured this would be common sense by now. But I can't tell you how many rejected repairs we do because of it. I'm sure some stores are more lenient than others. But to avoid a headache and wasted time just remove any trace of root. My store is anal about it. Just tired of noobs arguing with me constantly.
K. I'll bite.

The SuperUser apk has a history of all the programs you have listed to remember root privileges. It will only list an apk on the green list if it successfully gave the apk root access. Which means it was rooted, the warranty was void the moment you ran Fre3vo, whether they know it is the question.

And that really is un-called for. b-reezy clearly has a boss, e.g. doesn't make this decision. Coming on here and posting this warning is a favor to us. Arguing isn't going to change the policy, if it were me, I'd be more interested in keeping my job than pleasing another XDA troll.
I usually just return my phones to stock if I need to go get the phones serviced. Doesnt usually take to long to restore everything back after.
Grow up people. Just put a sock in it if you have nothing sensible to say.

Because I've heard different answers to this question elsewhere, I wanted to post it here.
Will there be an opportunity for us to flash ROMS from Clockworkmods, etc. on the NT in the near future or not?
Thanks!
Tommy
Possibly, no ETA. No one knows at this point when but it is technically possible but it will take a lot of work from the devs to get around the bootloader.

New here so excuse me if wrong: but I thought the Nook Color was unlocked, why would B&N do that? Wouldn't that kill their sales of the unit? Does anyone think there will be a leak to unlock the Tablet?

I was hoping that the devs would find a solution but this seems to be the way to go.
Pretty much all the great devs have or are planning to get Kindle Fires.
The forum over there is "on fire" (pardon the pun)
As someone that loved the Nook Color that is very disappointing.
Yeah, I was on the fence between the two, but the locked bootloader, and kinda goofy looking form factor of the nook tab made the decision for me, and yeah, the kindle forums are busy. I am very happy with my choice.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Cm7 for the kindle has no sound at the moment, so yes, you can get a kindle and enjoy a buggy customization experience. You can already do a lot with rooting and side loading apps; you'll do this with a better screen and hardware specs on the NT.
That being said, the bootloader is a major clockblock for development of custom ROMs. While we can still root and sneak in apps here and there, we are as-of-yet powerless to remove Barns&Nobles pared down version of the android experience. This is a real tough nut to crack, as we're forced to either bypass or crack it, both of which are not fun to do. Remember, hackers are a minute portion of buyers, and B&N is subsidizing the cost of the tablet with their ecosystem.
The KF, on the other hand does not have the locked bootloader, which means its more likely that meaningful development will continue for it.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt
I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that somebody has already managed to bypass the locked bootloader? Is this correct? What will this mean?
I really don't get why anyone would get a kindle fire JUST because you can modify it more (right now). What's the point if it has no SD slot and choppy video playback?

Sounds like there is some hope. I have been long time user of the "other" tablet and ordered a Noon Tablet, should have it Monday. I hear there is a way to do "sidelaoder" to gain access to the whole android market without having to root it. Anyone have a guide I can reference to do it to mine? I see many instructions but want to be sure I pick a "safe" one.
Other than the market, I don't think there is much more I'd like it to do. Does android have a app for Synology NAS? I also like using XBMC on iPad, anyone know if adroid has it or something similar/better?
Anything thing else you recommend I do to the NT without having to root it? My mail functions for the tablet will be entertainment, internet, videos, pictures and music.

To get market you have to root. I don't see why you wouldn't as there is the one click unroot app and the 8(or is it 10?) failed boot to factory restore if you have any issues and want to return to BN

Why phrase the subject as if you did it, then ask if anyone has done it? You title is misleading; you could at least end it with a "?".
Anyway, I was wondering if it did too. There are people who wanted to remove the games, they should try it and tell us what happens.

By phrasing it like this: "Gamestop prime will factory restore delete added games", you are kinda saying it does do it. Then everyone will ask you did you do it and have prove, but when you read your post, you are asking if anyone did it. Yeah the question mark will let people know that you are asking rather then telling.

Yes I did and yes it will remove the games GS installed.
Isn't there a way to sync the games with your google account so you can redownload them in the future?
What he meant to ask was "Will a factory restore of a Gamestop Prime result in the loss of the bundled games?"
Now that we've got that out of the way. If I remember right, there are two types factory resets. A soft reset that erases user data and a hard reset that re-fleshes factory stock ROM configuration. As I do not have a Prime on hand I do not know the answer to your question. My guess, they go bye bye.
Could be wrong though.

Curious, rcbarr, do you plan to root the prime? what is the build number now that you did a factory reset? If your build number is less than what mine is out the box, I might factory reset mine and try to root it with the razorclaw.
I find it funny that gamestops game bundle can be lost so easily. Wonder how you would get it back if you had to do a factory reset to fix a problem. Guess an app like Mybackup Pro might help get it back.
Looks like rcbarr confirmed that you lose the games. Terrible setup on GS's part...good thing we have for Titanium I suppose.

I would use Titanium but Razorclaw doens't work on our Gamestop ones. Someone as mentioned the GS possibly did an OTA as they were installing the additional games.

The good news is, we now know GS did not mod the Firmware.
As far as rooting it, no, I am going to wait until I get ICS. Believe me, I have thought about it, had my EVO 4G rooted before the first week was out that I owned it, laughing.
So can these games be updated with updates are released in the future?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but can I legally sell a rooted nook tablet on ebay? I don't think I need it anymore, and I think I can get more money out of it if I sell it rooted.
Yes, you can sell a rooted nook. You could even take a paint brush and paint white and black bumble stripes while praying over it and selling it as a "rooted blessed bumble bee nook". It's yours fully, you are free to mod and sell for same price, profit or even a loss...
By the way, how much are you asking for it? Does it have CWM?
Sell It.
Absolutely.
Ebay doesn't discriminate against rooted tablets.
And for now, it is not illegal to root your android equipment or jailbreak your iDevice.

If the stuck SD card is the reason you're selling, don't, haha. You can take the back of the device off completely and have easier access to retrieving the SD card.
