Issues wiping caches - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi everybody, i noticed this problem since i flashed ics, but i didn't bother till now.
When i wipe cache and dalvik cache from came on reboot i see again the gapps start screen (the android saying "touch me to start").
I've always managed to do everything anyway, but i think it would be better to actually be able to wipe caches when i need it (in order to avoid the said issue i never wipe them).
I'm using dta2sd, for apps and dalvik cache, on ics final.
Thanks in advance.

Apps cannot download from Market on CheckROM Revo HD V6

Hi guys,
Just recently downgraded from ICS to GB.....due to me not liking ICS much. I did a full wipe of this ROM and installed it successfully. Everything works fine except the Market. Whenever I try and download something it just says "*app name* couldnt not be downloaded due to an error"
This is the first time I have experienced this...any help would be grately appreciated!
Thank you!

try clear caches from seting applications
You must wipe cache, data, system and dalvik cache then install the rom. Then again wipe everything and flash the rom one more time. This has been discussed before on its topic

Yup, that did the trick!

Rom selection question (I'm sorry)

Currently on hybrid with the all dpi tablet mod. I get a little bit of lag playing some games like gta3 some lock ups etc. my phone felt faster on ginger bread. Ill flash a rom based off the official ics.
What gb rom would give me the best performance? maybe hoping for better pen and touch response
When I'm doing a full wipe for this phone I'm backing up data /apps to PC then flashing stock with Odin? Then am I rerooting? Sorry lol I should know this...

Try DaGr8's.
You should not have to re-root, and you should always wipe data, cache, and davlik when installing a ROM. I would suggest the new Unofficial Collective ROM beta 3 using the latest ICS leak with UCLD3, I've been really impressed with it so far, really awesome work.

I would have to agree. The Hybrid one really is sexy but a little more buggy. All those guys are making tremendous (and fast) progress. Cheers to all those guys really!
fucheeno
I'm still on hybrid I mean I love it but it feels like touches aren't accurate enough to use my phone lol. Also my phone has the bottom right screen problem and that makes getting the menu bar without the pen annoying.
I'm also quipped with a glas t
I think I may wait for the next version before flashing

Doesn't a factory reset in CWM wipe all three? I could have sworn it does it automatically.
Does wiping those three or doing a factory reset in cwm wipe sd card files pictures and downloaded files etc.
You guys really wipe three times?

No. Sd card is safe(external and internal), unless you do something wrong. Here's what I do and I've never had issues with a ROM. Factory reset 3 time, wipe cache 3 times, wipe dalvik 3 times, format system 3 times, then flash. Probably extremely redundant but I don't care. It takes a couple more seconds and can't hurt.

[Q] Going from stock to custom ROM

Hi there first thread for me
I was just wondering, I am on stock Samsung ROM but am thinking of installing either Foxhound or Paranoid Android (possibly CM10 when stable supported version is out)
do I need to do a full wipe or can I just wipe cache partition, dalvik cache and fix permissions?
Also out of Foxhound and Paranoid, which would you guys recommend and why? or would you recommend I wait for CM10?
Thanks for all the help guys, this is a great community!
To each his own. Try both and decide yourself. Always recommended to do a full wipe.

thanks very much for your help, I might just try both as you said and then I can make a decision from there
What actually happens if I didnt do a full wipe and just wiped the caches and fixed the permissions?
Full wipe is recommended but always not necessary. Try installing the Rom without a wipe and if you didn't get any fc then leave it as it is, else wipe it. Also fix permission is not required every time.

If you lucky (occasionally), nothing happens.
If you unlucky (most probably) , unpredictable bugs will annoy you to death

Before you flash new rom you should wipe data/factory reset (But only if you have custom kernel) then flash your rom.
If you have issues with new rom, do above again and/or try re-flashing.
Also you should give it about 10 mins after system has booted before you attempt to use device, this gives it time for things in background to settle. After 10 mins give it a reboot. This isnt always necessary however its good practice to do so to avoid some issues on some types of roms.

[Q] Sotmax v19 - Contacts FC

Hi
I've been using sotmax since v16 and since upgrading to v19 whenever I try to open a contact through the contacts app it freezes then force closes.
Has anyone come across this or know how to fix this?
Thanks
Do the standard clear cache and dalvik, if that doesn't help then full wipe and reflash might fix it.
Only ever upgrade when the ROM chef says it's okay, otherwise full wipe.

I only ever do a full wipe before flashing. I've wiped and re-flashed this rom 5 times now and always get the same issue
Probably a bug in the rom then, ask the chef to check for it.
