Unexpected interruption android.process.acore - Folio 100 General

Hellow people
I'm new of this Folio 100.
From a few hours it is giving me this error especially when I ask for the keyboard.
I would like to try a factory reset but... ..what about my "Documents to go" licensed SW ? Will I loose it ?
The same question apply if I want to install Foliomod 1.4 ...
Thanks for helping.
miazza

Backup it but if you're on stock, install adb and pull it from running device:
adb pull /data/[app_name] [any_directory_on_computer]

Thanks for the help.
I have routed the stock ROM and I have done the procedure with recovery image.
So if I have well understood it is enough to back it up with adb pull command and than restore it in the data folder ?
What about installing directly a modified ROM like the foliomod 1.4 ?
Will the same procedure apply ?
Thanks
miazza

You can push pulled app with push command.

OK. Thanks very much. I fixed it

No longer able to update to custom 2.1 roms??

Hi, I've had lot's of problems with my HTC recently, no adb access etc, device not being recognised and recovery playing up, ie not being able to wipe install roms etc... however I fixed the recovery issue and managed to do a nandroid backup, I put on I think it was 1.5 HTC sense hero rom... and recently realised that i can only flash 1.5 roms, not 2.1 anymore? would any developer know what would of caused this problem? Any 2.1 rom just locks on the Hero logo, and I've left it for over an hour in some cases and nothing happens. Again, I used to be able to put on any custom rom.... I'm all out of ideas.
wipe
did you wipe? what recovery image you using etc etc?
1. post in the correct section.
2. remove the ext4 partition from your sdcard, or change it to ext2 or ext3.
3. get adb logcat, otherwise this is like the question "my car won't run, can anybody tell me why?"
I have wiped numerous times... sorry for the "my car won't run type question etc...." just that I've done my research, gooogled, posted detailed info previously on here and another forum, I even fixed my own problem of the recovery image, without fixing that I would have nothing. But anyway the card is partitioned with swap, ext2, fat32 using the latest Amon_Ra image 1.6? something... i've spent weeks trying to resolve this and learnt a lot along the way.
Obviously not where to find the adb logcat... don't worry I'll google it.
Apologies for posting in the wrong forum, if it can be moved could a mod do so?
i had this problem with my magic,Using the goldcard method to downgrade and starting from scratch will fix this

Thanks for your reply, I will approach this method again at some point and give it a try, but I think I read somewhere that I couldn't do it for whatever reason, but I'll look into it again seeing as you've had the same issues. Thanks.

Actually I believe I didnt attempt this because I was no longer able to get my HTC hero working with ADB, as soon as I plug the device in, it comes up as device unrecognised, so I think goldcard method it out.. :-(
on the risk of offending you again (even though i am trying to help here...): you did not provide really much valid info. for most things you just said "doesn't work". what happens if you start by pushing home+power? saying the recovery doesn't boot up tells what does NOT happen, for a diagnosis we need the info what DOES happen.
anyway, if i get you right your recovery is now working. now repartition your sdcard (ext2 and fat, NO swap), do a full wipe, then install the rom you desire to use, then move the log to sdcard ("other" in recovery). reboot your phone and execute "adb logcat > c:\logcat.txt" on your pc. if it doesn't boot up after five minutes stop logcat with ctrl-c and post the two logfiles (recovery.log and logcat.txt). you need to set up adb, if you have problems with that sort them out, there is no way to get any information about your problem without the log.
oh, and about the goldcard: i don't know too much about goldcard'ing, but i can't see how this should help here. my strongest guess is that the swap partition interferes with the boot process...
No worries no offence taken. Pushing Home+Power works and takes me to recovery. Back+Power takes me to bootloader and USB Bootloader device is recognised, so I am able to get Fastboot.
Just recently installed stock rom, to see if that solved the USB and ROM issues but no such luck, re-rooted, put anom latest recovery back on, and went on to do what you have advised to help.. i've attached only the recovery.log in zip format only, as when doing adb logcat command use mentioned(after installing new rom), all I get is "waiting for devices" whilst the phone is stuck on the Hero logo, I waited about 10 minutes, exited from the adb, and the log file was empty as I guessed. I've tried every possible way that I found on the web to try and get the ADB function working again and I realise this is important to get some info.. but I've ran out of ideas for that.
Maybe the recovery(attached) may show something, all I noticed is that the cache and something else was not wiped for some reason? If you or someone has time, have a look through maybe someone knows what is going on.
Thanks for your help and patience

best option for old rom?

Hi.. just hjoping for a little advice as im unsure what would be the best course of action for my old Hero.. (wife uses it now i bought a desire)
When i got it... i did the root thing,,, and installed one of the first Modaco Roms on it,,, but since then ive not touched it or updated it in any way..
Obviously now there's been alot of updates up to as far as 2.2 i think,,, mines still on 1.5..
Im not to botherd about it keeping rooted or anything.. as my wife uses it and as long as it works and is stable she is happy with it..
So what would be my best option to get a stable, up to date rom that is based on the HTC sense version? and what steps would i need to take to get it installed? ie.. would it need to be unrooted or something first if i just wanted the latest official rom?? or is there better roms out there that are just as stable with everything working?
Many thanks for any advice.. ive been out of the loop a fair while
Moved to Q&A as not development.
You're probably after a 2.1 Sense UI ROM. There's plenty available in the development forums You can flash an RUU if you want 2.1 officially, or just flash a new custom ROM using recovery, after nandroid and wipes.
In my opinion I think that you should flash the rooted update:
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=1973
As its very similar to the official HTC rom, but the phone is still rooted and you can save apps to the SD card.
Remember however that all the data on the Hero will be deleted when applying the update, so everything needs to be backed-up.
I'd highly recommend Villain 12 as a very stable 2.1 Sense ROM. I'v had it running for a couple of weeks now with ZERO issues.
I'd go as far as saying it is as stable (if not more so) as Modaco3.2 when we were all on Android 1.5.
No need to unroot,... you might have to update your recovery but thats hardly a big job. Then flash the new ROM.
There are plenty of guys on here to advise if you need more help with it.
thanks for the replies.... afaik i think i am running with an amon-ra recovery... how would i know if it needs updating? cheers

Check the version string it gives you. 1.6.2 is latest, 1.7.0 is semi-released beta, and 1.6.2a is a VillainROM special that fixes a bug (that bug is fixed in 1.7.0)
right.. quick update... looks like i got the recovery thing wrong... turns out its 1 by Cyanogen... i installed it in september last year.. so will this need changing? and if i wanted to change to the newest amon-ra ( i think thats the 1 reccomened to use with villainroms?) is it difficult to swith from 1 recovery image to another?
1 other thing i forgot to mention... i now use Windows 7 x64... i heard this can cause problems in certain instances?
thanks again
Having Win7 can be an issue for 1st custom rom flash but shouldn't be a problem for you now.
Ok,... the method I used to install the recovery was using an app called flashrec. Step by step instructions in BTDAG's guide linked in my signature.
I've also heard you can just put the recovery.img on the root of your sd then go into fastboot and it finds it automatically, I find it hard to believe it will do this by itself though.
EDIT.... Nope you do need to run commands whilst in fastboot.
adb shell reboot bootloader
fastboot boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
adb shell mount /sdcard
adb push recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
adb shell reboot

Video Tutorial - How to root, install recovery and ROMs on LG Optimus T / One

Hey everyone, finally got my video up. Sorry it's a bit crude but I was trying to finish it in the time my girlfriend was in the shower! This is a video supplement to my original blog post, so please use both together. This isn't a full step by step tutorial, but I hope i've clarified to most confusing parts!
Video:
http://tablet-crunch.blogspot.com/2011/01/video-tutorial-how-to-root-install.html
Original walkthrough:

Let me know if you have any questions!
thanks for your patience!
Tanks so much!!
Hey, thanks a million!
Now I've almost gathered enough courage to start messing with the original ROM!
Just one more question:
When I've flashed a new ROM I imagine I'm left with a blank OS, so I'd have to reinstall all my apps and redo all the necessary settings.
I've read about backing up apps using Titanium Backup, but I still don't quite get it. (Yep, I'm a total noob)
Can I back up my apps on the original ROM, flash a new one and restore them all? Just like that? And will it also back up settings (Email account info etc.)?
Thanks for all your efforts!
P.S.
I hope your girlfriend is OK - sounded like she wrecked your bathroom...

Ya the way you would use titanium backup would be to install it on your current installation, run it and back everything up (you can run a 'batch' operation where you backup all programs, userfiles, settings, etc...). Once that is done, you can install the rom, install titanium backup again, and then go into the program and restore your previous backup. It will save everything to your SD card, so as long as your SD card is still in the phone, the fresh install of titanium backup will read the files on the SD card and let you restore them. I think it restores most settings, but i'm not 100% sure.

Thanks man. It's always a challenge finding the "right" places to go. This is my second root/recovery and am very pleased with the upgrade from MT3G to the Optimus T. Since you're a "local" you should check out seattle.craigslist.org ... I picked up mine NIB for $130 US.

HELP fastboot error
Hai, I would like to say that i'm a total noob with this whole rec/fastboot thingie, and that's why I think I missed up BIG TIME.so here's my prob, I've recently tried to install custom roms, and I installed a custom recovery before that, and I typed the cmds with terminal emulator, but I just gave up and then I felt like reseting my cell, so I did, but then when it goes on reset mod, i'm stuck with a black screen and it says.
"fastboot mode started"
udc_start()
-- suspend --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
fastboot: processing commands
EDIT: forgot to say that I can't even boot, it just goes to Fastboot mode,
then I tried to plug in my usb and it says
EP1/out FAIL nfo=40 pg0=74000
-- portchange --
usb_read() transaction failed
-- reset --
-- portchange --
fastboot: oops!
then when I try to force reset it (power+home+volume up), it just goes to the same screen, it wont let me do anything, im literally stuck there's pretty much nothing I can do, so thats why I asking for your help.I also tried to take out the battery putting it back in, same goes for the sd card, nothing seems to work.so please if there's a way to fix this, let me know, abd if there is, I would like someone to tell me how ot fix it step-by-step, cuz like I said im a totale noob @ this.
Thanks
Wha??
You gave up in between the custom recovery flashing!!
There is a guide for bricked phones. It might help. I am not too sure. If it does then good for you. Else i am sure someone on the forum will help you out. Dont worry.
after using this step # flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img I get the error that error writing recovery: No space left on device
So how much space do I need to keep for using this

HELP needed

Hi all
Just got my gtablet and installed a custom rom on it ( Vegan-Tab Ginger Edition )
All was fine till the famous " the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly." I have tried to opening and disconnecting the battery, waiting for the battery to drain. etc. But to no avail
I followed the steps on NVflash to try to restore the firmware back to stock
I had the 1.2
at first, when i used NVflash, i manage to install the rom. However, when i power down the unit, it was unable to power up . Look thru the forum and found out that some of the user here also had this problem
Finally after 10 hours of trying, I manage to install this " alternate nvflash for gtablet zip file" from gtablet-for-dummiesl.
Now I am able to on and off as per normal.
However, I cannot get the system to enter CWM. Then every i press the on and the vol + , it just shows DETECT A RECOVERY KEY PRESS / BOOTING RECOVERY KERNAL IMAGE and it just hangs there forever.
When i connect the tablet to my computer , using the ES file explorer /SD card/ and a LOST.DIR
Will any kind soul out there.. please help. I am really at a total lost of what to do next
Thanks
Did you partition your SD card in CWM before installing vegan? It's part 1 step 7 of this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
and it's a critical to avoiding random FC's.
Sounds like you may want to get back to a stock baseline (via NVflash) and follow the tutorial above.
This site has many tutorials as well:
http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
Good luck!
1st what you will need to do is download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974422 what it will do is erase everything including any current rom and things on your device completely.
Then you must NVFlash after that to reinstall the stock ROM.
Hope this helps
Hi
1. Format the gtablet ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974422)
DONE ! Now am I on 1.1 or 1.2 using the format.zip ?
2. Install CWM ( http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/clockworkmod.htm ) - using the external SD card method for 1.2 rom ???
3. Clear / format data etc
4. Install ROM by using NVflash to either 1.1 or 1.2 ?
Are the steps correct ?
At this point just use code red on my start here page. Link in siggy.
What you originally did wrong was put the wrong cwm on the wrong branch.

1- After using the format the tablet should no longer be having a rom on it (not even stock rom)
2- NVFlash (Back to normal)
3-After NVFlashing you normally need to do an OTA update to 3588 which is the 1.1 bootloader
4- CWM Internal or External your choice REMEMBER TO PARTITION (2048 for first choice and 0 for the second)
5- Install the 1.1 rom of your choice
Please refer to this page for details on installing a custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Please refer to this page for details on NVFlashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
BUT BEFORE GOING AHEAD AND DOING THIS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GO AHEAD TO GOODINTENTIONS WEB SITE THE LINK IS IN HIS SIGGY AND I THINK HE WILL HAVE WAYYYYYY BETTER AND SAFER INFORMATION FOR YOU
And remember step 4 partitioning is very important!!!!!! But thats as far as i know =/ I do not guaruntee this will work but I really hope it does.
Hope this helped
http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/starthere.htm go to code red.
BTW your problem was you used the wrong clockworkmod for your branch
Thanks .
ok. I have formatted. And I have a red Magic value mismatch ( Which I presume is correct as I have formatted the drive )
Now, following CODE RED. I have downloaded stock Rom 1.1 branch zip with CWM pre-installed. Saved the file and unzip the folder ( BTW I am using windows 7 )
OK. I have created a folder with the stock rom 1.1 branch and the nvflash_windows_20100500.zip
UNzip both file and let it run
Rebooted to TNT. Now I think casue i have mess up my partition, it keeps showing " the application email ( process com.android.email ) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again .
Understand I have to use CWM to repartition the internal SD.
However, now the problem is the same. I cannot get it to enter CWM by pressing the power and +

Hi jjkoolj8282,
Problem is now because of the partition i keep getting error and there is no way for me to get into CWM
once I power off my gtablet, I will not be able to power it on again
Was wondering is there anyway for me to repartition the internal SD before installing the ROM
I have tried using
Part III - NVFlash for the few. (Most of you will ignore this part)
For some people there are some incompatibilities with the nvflash for windows files in Part B. If you are one of the unfortunates who have done Part B and got an error, then use the alternate nvflash for gtablet zip file. Follow the same procedure in Part B, but replace the file in step 1 with this file.
with NVflash for windows and it allows me to turn on and off the gtablet
However, there is no CWM
How do I get CWM onto this so that I can repartion the internal SD ?
Please help
hmmm. the partition should if anything help....
i cannot stress enough
1- make sure you are on 1.1 and make sure you installed cwm v08
if you are on 1.2 you must have this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125379 you must nvflash if you find out you are on the wrong cwm
and 2- the partition is after NVFlash and before the custom rom and the sizes are 2048 for the first choice and 0 for the second
NVflash again (i know annoying) check you bootloader and then install the correct CWM.
if all else fails go to goodintentions website and then over to code red and maybe even double red
the part you added to your post is out of my league....but i saw the power on problem somewhere else....i'll give you a link if i find it which i will look now
hi

once you formatted it you must nvflash it (i may be repeating myself but i am sharing what i would do) follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950 so you are back to the stock ROM
and from there you should be able to put CWM on the correct bl
cwm entering is entered by holding the power button with the volume + button simutaneously and you will see recovery key detected
WOW !! at long last.. manage to enter CWM.
Tried using the double code red. pressing the + button while it was NVing and + button before it loads into TNT
IT shows clockwork recovery v2.5.11 bekit 0.8
Is this the version 8 ? the latest one ?
YES> !!! it booted up nicely after doing the repartition and fix permission !!!!
Sorry for noob question
Hope my luck last..
It is probably on 1.1 since it booted into CWM 08 which is also 8
It is not the latest one, you dont want the latest one. the reccomended version is the one you are on
and if something goes wrong....again lol
just NVFlash and try again. this stuff is hard work xD

you can't believe how happy i am for you lol
yes update to 1.1-3588 but not further!!!!!!
then most roms are compatible with your bootloader, which after you updating it is 1.1
but always check for the bootloader information about a rom
if you have any more problems just PM me and always remember how to NVFlash because it'll come in handy.
Thanks thanks
I really thought that my gtablet was going to be a paper weight
Will play around with the 1.1 before deciding again to take the plunge to flash a new 1.1 rom .
What do you recommand ? TNT lite ?

TNT lite is a very good ROM, but my personal favorite is Vegan Tab 5.1 which is a froyo ROM . The only difference is pretty much looks, but TNT Lite is retired so it is hard to get unless you already have it.
Thanks . Will try the Vegan tab in a while
It always baffles me how a hand full of people get problems that I can't for the life of me replicate. I must admit that, sometimes, I doubt these problems really do exist. Can anyone (preferably a tech or a dev) confirm that these problems really do exist?

Need helpwith installing quicksense ROM

I have finally got my phone unlocked and rooted. Now I am trying to install the quicksense ROM. I know I am doing something wrong, because all I get is the white HTC screen at start up, and thats as far as it goes. So, here is what I did, and maybe someone can help me out.
I downloaded amazing quicksense and dragged it into my sd card
I booted into recovery
I did a backup
I wiped the cashe
I went to install from sd card and chose the zipped quicksense file
I then got install from sd card complete
I then went back and rebooted phone
From here the phone freezes on the white HTC screen and does not fully boot.
I had to go back into recovery and do a restore to get my phone working again.
What am I doing wrong. Please help.
Seem like you did succeed at everything except the cleaning parts
Please try again by going into recovery and
1. wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe cache partition
3. Go to Advance then wipe dalvik cache - after that, choose go back
4. Install rom from sdcard
5. Reboot
I will try and do what you have instructed. However I wanted to ask one question before I do this. In your first step to "wipe data/factory reset", will this reset my phone back to factory, essentially wiping all my data and everything I have on it? I know unlocking the bootloader did that, but it would suck if I had to do this every time I installed a ROM. Just want to make sure what I am up against. Thanks

Hi
I am by no mean a dev so my advices is more like ... well, advice - not instructions my friends
Wipe data/factory reset mean wiping every personal datas that you had on the device and yes, this will reset your phone back to the present rom that you had on the device - in your case is the stock/factory/carriers rom.
Every time you install a new rom you should - and every dev will suggested this - wipe clean your data and whatever info that may still left on the device from previous rom - you may not need to do this when you update to the new version from the same rom. Sometimes the new version of the same rom featured too many changes then the dev will instructed user to wipe all the data. That's why we user should always read the first, second and third post to make sure we keep ourself up-to-date when flashing rom.
Personal data means your google account, emails, contact list, SMS, wifi password, bluetooth pairing and apps setting ... However, we can backup and restore most of these info using diferrent apps. Here are some app that I found helpful in term of backup:
* Gmail account for contacts list
* SMS backup for SMS and call log
* Titanium Backup for apps and it's data: This app is very useful, for example if you use it to backup your email app it will included your setup and password ect ... so after install new rom and restore a particular app, you have an option to restore the app plus it's data or data/app only
Read this thread for some useful tips on how to using Titanium Backup
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324291
Googd luck and welcome to the Amaze
I really do appreciate your advice. I will go ahead and backup everything, and then attempt the ROM install again. Hopefully it will work this time. Again thanks.
Not a problem mate
Since you already backup your rom and QuikSense is a Sense rom anyway, it doesn't hurt to try restoring data from the backup. You can do this (after finish flashing the new rom) by go back into Recovery/Backup and restore/Advance restore/choose the backup file (in case you have more than 1 backup)/then chose restore data
I did this when switching from QuikSense rom to Senseless Rom and it work flawlessly
Worst case scenario is you will have to restore again. This will save a lot of steps.

How long do you wait?
The first boot may take several minutes.
Do you have adb installed on your computer? If so then from the command prompt (or terminal if your running Ubuntu) type "adb shell logcat" and if it seems like it's repeating itself over and over again then your caught in a loop and would probably just need to clear the data and caches. Your problem should clear right up.

If so then from the command prompt (or terminal if your running Ubuntu) type "adb shell logcat" and if it seems like it's repeating itself over and over again then your caught in a loop and would probably just need to clear the data and caches. Your problem should clear right up.

To be honest with you, I did wait for maybe 5 min or less. I guess I thought it would boot normally. I will try again and give it some time.
Being very new to this, I am trying to learn all of this. How do I know if I have adb installed on my computer? Thanks

Hope this helps.
Well, I finally got it to work. My probem was that my sd card was not FAT32 but FAT. I think this was the problem I had with trying to flash clockworkmod. I did everything except the wipedata/factory rest, to see if it would work. And sure enough, I am now running Amazing Quicksense 1.5.1. Thanks for every ones help.
