[Q] WSJ Tablet App on ICS - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi all,
I know there is a WSJ app similar to the iPad edition for android tablets. I see that it is downloadable on the TFP running HC but mine is updated to ICS and it will not allow it due to incompatibility. Is there any way for me to get this app on the TFP running ICS?
Thanks a ton

Thanks, I did that. But on my previous TFP I downloaded it while running HC and when I upgraded to ICS, it was still there and I was able to use it. I exchanged that TFP though because of issues and did not have WSJ installed when this one was updated to ICS so I was wondering if there was a way of downloading the app and loading it manually onto the TFP.

Found a link to an old post that had the apk and I was able to send it to my TFP.
Here's the link in case anyone else is looking for this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459572

The market ics app is very slow and sluggish, here's what i did. I've a htc amaze & the WSJ app for that is tight & light so I copied my titanium backup to the microSD and restored it on the prime, it works just fine. Of course you need root to do this. There are a bunch of other apps I did this way and for the most part they almost all work.

CNN Tablet app

It was released today, I have not been able to find the apk anywhere and I cant install it from the web market from my HC Nook. Anyone have any ideas... or a Xoom? Lmao...

I figure this was a question, but I clicked on the thread anyway, hoping it was a statement of successful installation!
Hah sorry to get your hopes up! I would imagine it would install without a problem though, we are running HC after all. The issue I see is booting it up and it looking for a service or hardware we don't have.
Perhaps if someone is kind enough they could venture on over to the Xoom forums and ask around for an apk?

Remember we are only running a premature "preview" HC. Any APKs from the XOOM may require one or more API only present in the final SDK build. Also, any app that requires "Renderscript" will fail too. For example, the YouTube and Google Books apps require Renderscript. Perhaps the CNN app does also.
The CNN app for Android Phones came out. Does anybody had the apk since the Nookcolor won't show it in market. Thanks.
I'm pretty sure there are both a honeycomb and a "standard" version.
Got it from my G1. Installed fine on the nook. Pretty basic, but doesn't look as hot as the honeycomb version.
I grabbed the .APK from my Epic. It wouldn't install on my Nook. Perhaps it is time to share the G1 Version?
Looked up the rules and I think it's okay.
Here ya go. I'm running CM7 stable and OC'd 4/18c, and it works.

EXACTLY. The OP is talking about a "tablet app" that "came out today" for his NC running HC....well, that "today" was in February...the "tablet app" for HC has been out for a month. Every other post about so-and-so CNN app, under this month old post, can and will be confusing to some.....
Here, I'll be the ****:
THIS WHOLE THREAD IS EFFED UP. THE APP CAME OUT IN FEBRUARY FOR TABLETS, HONEYCOMB ONLY.
THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT OP REFERS TO. THESE POSTS ABOUT A TABLET APP LATELY ARE INCORRECT.
There. That wasn't so hard.

[Q] Netflix App

hi all I was just curious if anyone knows if the new Netflix app is working on the Thunderbolt or not. I assume it would but the thunderbolt is not listed on the netflix web site as a supported phone for this app, even though 3 other HTC phones are listed and are older tech than the Thunderbolt. I tried to install it but they want me to start an account with them first and I'm not opening a Netflix account unless I know for sure this will work on My thunderbolt. I'd appreciate any information anyone has on this,.. thanks!!
there are hacked netflix APKs out there that work on the thunderbolt
I thought it was only working for cm7?

You are correct.
I appreciate that,.. now next,,, 4 things,..
1. what's the best way to Root the HTC Thunderbolt
2. how do I install a ROM, never done so before
3. can someone link me the cyanogen mod 7 forum where I can download the files for it
4. Can someone link me where to get the APK that works with Cyanogen mod7 for Netflix?
oh and 5th... thanks!
what about netflix for virusrom? ......i'd post it there, but I'm not allowed to post in development pages being a new user and all...

The Netflix app will not work with any ROMs based off the official Thunderbolt RUUs as of now.
I was so mad when my boyfriend's Incredible would stream Netflix, and my newer Thunderbolt WON'T. He doesn't even use his phone. He fixed it so he can use wireless tethering..and uses his ipod touch! That's what made me so pissed off about it. I actually want to be able to watch Netflix on mine! Maybe one day soon =(
yeah This fairly well annoys me as well.. I purposefully bought the highest end phone I could find with the latest technology and it can't run the netflix app while the older models can,.. sounds kinda backasswards to me... really bugs me
Would love to have this working. Til then I guess I'll just have to use it on my DX

If you are rooted you can trick the app into thinking you are using one of the phones that are listed. I think i read about the trick on android central if i find the link i will post it.

Don't think so, so far its only working if your running CM7 I believe.
Has anyone on here used CM7? I loaded it one day and nothing really worked on it. I couldn't get on the internet or anything... sounds like to a waste to run CM7 just to use netflix
Netflix does work on cm7 and will be supported on the thunderbolt soon. The reason why it wasn't initially is because the phone is new and Netflix didn't have time to test it on our devices. Just give it some time and you all will be rewarded.

My understanding is that they are waiting til after the Revolution comes out to activate it for LTE phones. Its one of the selling points of the Revolution so it will probably be exclusive to that for a month or so. Just speculating though.

Yep, yep! When I first got the View on Monday I originally thought there was a problem with my internet connection, then I started to suspect an issue with the app itself. Good times now though!
Though it's a smidgen less useful since the geniuses over at HBO decided to cancel Hung, Bored to Death and How to Make it in America yet kept the show with the lowest ratings, Enlightened.
Care to share your account?. Some of us poor folk, ok cheap folk, don't have HBO, Showtime or cabletv for that matter.
Doesn't work if you're on honeycomb. Device not supported.

This actually belongs in the apps section, but ok.
HBO GO® is only accessible in the US.... your HC Flyer thinks it is a UK Model P510e. Otherwise it will work. Have someone give you the apk.
Or we can watch entire hbo series start to finish. Wtf???

Thanks! Well at least I now have a reason to wait a bit longer for the official honeycomb update. Maybe I'll get lucky and HBO will update the app for HoneyComb near the same time as HTC releases HoneyComb for the WiFi Flyer.
I would not wait for either. Do the update from the forum and enjoy HC and blow off HBO. Just DLNA your video over from you PC.

Guess I did not lick out, the HC update is availed, but HBO GO for HC is nowhere to be seen. However, experimenting with my girlfriend's Acer Iconia A500 HC tablet I've realized that HBO GO works well enough in the browser.
Has anyone tried HBO GO in the HC stock browser with the UA set to desktop? My gut tells me that the Flyer wont be able to handle the video feed as even the iconia choked when broadband allowed for the highest def streams. But any word would be much appreciated.

Google Watch and Root

I finally decided to try out Watching a movie via the market, excuse me, via play ;-) and I noticed that it wasn't working so I decideed to look it up and saw what I had assumed was true: I can't watch it because I'm rooted. Just now I decided to try it on my rooted Asus Transformer and to my surprise it worked perfectly!
I'm running a GB rom on my TF whereas I'm running an ICS rom on my Rezound, could it be some new protection in ICS?

Could be that the other devices don't look rooted to the app for some reason.
I've used OTA Rootkeeper to use it and Amazon Prime Video with success.

People who distribute the media do, because they think that if you are rooted, you can break the stream protection and "steal" the content.

Angry birds space

Question about angry birds space not showing in my library. I am rooted on stock 1.4.0 and I have purchased books with no problem. Purchased this and it isn't showing up for some reason? Any suggestions on what I could try? I have the purchase email and the status is shipped so it should show up.
Edit: It says it is not supported yet I downloaded from B&N? I am surprised I could download it from their site and not have it work?

I bought it from Amazon yesterday (99 cents) and it works fine. 16 GB NT, rooted, running Veronica's Ribbon ICS rom.
And the price beats the heck out of what B&N is charging.
It seems awfully short though. I blew through all the levels in no time.
I downloaded the ad supported version of it to my phone, then copied the apk to my tablet and it runs just fine. Rooted 1.4.0 I believe that b&n has an agreement not to allow the free versions to force you to buy them through the nookmarket at higher than normal prices.

Here's my second Noob Question of the day, Do I need a Rooted Phone to Copy the APK file and transfer it to my Tablet?? And if not How would I go about doing that??
I have just switched my BuildProp to Droid3 and was hoping that would open it up but no such luck there.. Figure I'd try something else before I brick this thing..
And since I don't see anybody talking about where to D/L APK files, I'm guessing it's not a topic of discussion around here, so I'll stay away from that..
Thanks for the help..
@Watersoldier, Yes, you would need a rooted phone if you want to copy the legitimate copy of angry birds from your phone to the nook.
Downloading apk is fine for discussion, it's just that discussing about warez (pirated/illegal uploads of paid apps) are taboo. There a lot of websites that hold apk of free apps. apktop or even just a simple google can yield a good amount of results. The best way is to try and go to directly to the dev's website, and if its free, you can get it from there.
Just installed the premium version for .99 from Google Play on my rooted Nook Tablet. Works great.
