Is there a wallpaper cropping guide around for this tablet?
I've got an image i want full screen, but ofcourse the honeycomb wallpaper cropping tool and crop wallpapers overall limits it.
I assume you're mostly using the tablet in landscape mode?
You can download a Live Wallpaper from the market called Simple Image Wallpaper.
That lets you select an image for the tablet, and it will be full screen and stationary as you swipe across your different screens. Works for me!
I will say though, there is a bug when you turn the device on...the wallpaper will be black. But if you just hit Apps up the top, then head back out, it'll refresh the wallpaper to your chosen image. And that's just when you initially turn the tablet on, so it's not such a big deal.
Hope that helps!
Cool, works perfect.
Thanks for the suggestion, but i find it laggy?

Sweet, that has bugged me for a while.
Laggy
I haven't noticed it being that laggy at all on mine...
Initially, when you load the image, it can be a bit, but after it loads the image it seems to be fine. But I suppose, it's not optimal, it's a live wallpaper, so I imagine it's doing more than just telling the OS once to use a jpg.
But that was the only way I could really find to get it working...

Here is an image of my ICS (Android OS Version 4.0.3) wallpaper guide. To match the Sony Tablet S's screen pixel-for-pixel, wallpaper images should be sized 1920 pixels wide and 1280 pixels high.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The dimensions shown on the guide take into account and provide for the 48 pixels taken from the screen by the menu located at the bottom of the tablet's screen.
The dark green area is the horizontal (landscape) Home Screen area. The light green areas are the areas viewed when swiping left and right from the horizontal Home Screen.
The dark blue area is the vertical (portrait) Home Screen area. The light blue areas are the areas viewed when swiping left and right from the vertical Home Screen.
The gray areas show the pixel heights taken from the horizontal and vertical screens by the translucent menu located at the top of the tablet's screen. Notice that the pixel dimensions are not the same; i.e., 56 pixels for horizontal screens, 48 pixels for vertical screens.
The red area is the wallpaper's unviewable area. This area is required to cause proper cropping and placement of the wallpaper image.
Here is a screenshot of my ICS wallpaper guide displayed in the Sony Tablet S's ICS version wallpaper cropping screen with the cropping box fully stretched horizontally and vertically. Notice that the cropping's vertical box does not agree with the guide's vertical areas. This is due to a programming error made by Sony's(?) programmers; the guide's dimensions are correct.
Here is an image of my old HC (Android OS Version 3.2.1) wallpaper guide. It is based on an image originally posted by "kainv" (see their post here). It is a rough draft; I never finished putting all the relevant areas and dimensions on it. Notice that in HC, a wallpaper's full-scale pixel dimensions where 1920 W x 1408 H. In ICS, the dimensions were changed to 1920 W x 1280 H.
Here are URLs for downloading the images.

Hi all,
Fresh new dell streak, flashed streakdroid 1.9.
Now when I try to set any picture as wallpaper, it seems like it is zoomed in, destroying any high-res detail. Did I do something wrong? How should I go about fixing this? It is SUPER annoying.
Questions...
1. What are the dimensions of the wallpaper?
2. When you set the image as wallpaper, there should be an orange box on the screen. Using the multi-touch capabilities of the screen, did you expand the size of the orange box to contain the entire picture?
it happens using any wallpaper, both default and downloaded. The downloaded one im using is 1600ish x 1000ish. Yea, I use the box to get the entire image for my wallpaper, but still no luck. It still seems to show a zoomed image no matter what.
The resolution should be 960 x 800. At the resolution you're using, the picture will look horrible because the phone has to downsize the image to fit the screen. This leads to jaggies and moire effects on the screen.
Get a photo editor and downsize your image to 960 x 800, then load it as wallpaper.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: As an example, I use a cropped version of the following image:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The version displayed here is a low quality version. The original image is 14MB in size with a resolution of 2486 x 1914. While I could have downsized the image as is to something pretty respectible on the Streak, I discovered that on a 5" screen the sun would be rather small. That didn't appeal to me, so in order to see the sun, I cropped the image in Photoshop CS5 so it was smaller with the details I wanted, namely the sun, the blue glow, and the foreground.
From there I used Photoshop's Image Size and Canvas Size functions to get the final image, seen below as an attachment.
Now, you were complaining about a loss of resolution earlier. Unfortunately, the Streak doesn't have the same color resolution as my netbook does, and the two of them cost the same amount of money. Load my wallpaper into your phone and you will see distinct banding within the blue glow. This is because the phone doesn't have 32-bit color depth like a standard computer monitor. There's nothing that can be done with that to the best of my knowledge. But by resizing the image so the Streak doesn't have to downsample the image itself, you can make the image look a lot more presentable.
Ahh, that was it. The default wallpapers are all sized wrong. Thanks!!
If you want to properly thank me, hit the "Thanks" button.
But, you're welcome.

When I first started theming my hubs I used several different backgrounds and that worked great for a while. But then I started getting tired of scrolling through different images every screen, it started to hurt my eyes in spite of having nice backgrounds. So I had the idea to make a panoramic homescreen like this.

}
All you need is a launcher that allows you to add/remove homescreens like adwlauncher ex, and multipicture live wallpaper to set a different background for each homescreen.
You'll also need to set your transition effect to normal on ADW, and to 'slide' on multipicture live wallpaper.
Here are a few I split to display nicely on the transformer prime.
I don't have any for more than 3 homescreens, so if you need a homescreen for everything you may need to search for multiple display wallpapers to suit your usage. I'll try to add more of these later.

I use an Iconia A500 but still check out the other tablet forums and I must say this looks quite awesome I'll try and make my own wallpapers if i do go this route though. What I'm using right now is a single folder with about 70 wallpapers. The folder is set to rotate through them on Windows 7 and the folder is synced to my tab using Sugarsync (dropbox will also work). Then on the tab, i set up adw not to allow wallpaper scrolling and set the entire folder as a source in Multipicture. So now I have one wallpaper on all 5 homescreens and a doubletap anywhere will rotate it though the list! It's actually really fun to just sit down and cycle through them for a while. Great suggestion though!

My previous setup was similar. I think you can have multiple panoramic backgrounds without them conflicting with each other (like an odd image that doesn't belong) if you put all of screen 1's images in a folder, all of screen 2's images in a folder, and so on. Name them in order - like screen 1 would be A1 in screen 1's folder, screen 2 would be A2 in screen 2's folder - then just change the letter for each different panoramic background you use (b1, b2, c1, c2, etc).
Then go to picture selection in multipicture live wallpaper - and select ascending/descending by name. should work for all the homescreens.

Just added some more - much more for 3 screens than there were before!
If anyone has something they want broken down into a panoramic to use for their prime I am more then willing to help. I built my own custom 7 screen layout in photoshop. Just send me a PM and we can hash out what you want done. I run a hub on mine but you should be able to get away with using the multilive wallpaper app from the market for free without needing a separate launcher.

Just got a TouchPad last week and loaded the latest nightly build of ICS
Came across threads from last year about creating "hubs" for Honeycome
A dedicated screen for each media.
I liked the idea, so I started playing around with it over the weekend....

I picked 5 wallpapers I wanted to use (resize to screen size of ur tablet)
Next pick a photo for each screen.
The 1st is far most left. I made this my video screen.
Next screen, I made my music screen
The 3rd one is for your main desktop
(I haven't played with Apexi docking draw yet so for now I just used ICS to put all my most frequently used apps.)
4th screen I used as my next most used apps
5th All Games
In MPLW I have 'used lock screen settings' checked.
Everything else unchecked
Transition type a few work, so test to see which you prefer.
I use 'none'
Apex setting I have the following
Number of screens 5
Default screen 3
Automatic grid size - Not checked
Portrait and Landscape I have at -6x8
Horizontal margins small
Vertical margins medium
Preview animation - scale in and out

That's pretty cool, do you think you can post a tutorial?
I'm wondering how you get the different wallpapers for each "hub". Is that one wallpaper stitched together of different images, or some sort of live wallpaper?
I used MultiPicture Live WallPaper & Apex
I'll try to do a write up on how I did it, when I'm home..
Just took sometime to get the settings right so that all 5 screens would scroll right and for them to look good in portfolio view..

I love what you've done. Just a quick question: does the launcher you're on affect multipicture live wallpaper? I have tried it numerous times on Nova launcher, and despite changing settings, I can never get it to display different wallpapers (they're always the same on each screen). Looking forward to your 'how-to' to see if I missed anything- thanks

I found it on SII forum.I tested it on CM and stock.

This is an small app that lets you crop an image freely when trying to set the wallpaper or lock screen background.
In the Jelly Bean stock and stock-based ROMs, is not possible to properly set the home and lock screen wallpapers, due to a nice new feature of keeping the crop box aspect fixed to a square, but the area to be cropped is a smaller rectangle.
When trying to set the lock screen wallpaper with a portrait image, the always squared crop box touches the lateral borders of the image, forcing you to select a much smaller area -possibly scaling the picture-, and thus leaving us in a less than optimal situation, unhappy with our powerful pocket computer that could do much better with such a trivial task.
This lazily done app comes as an option when you try to set a wallpaper, and just calls the stock Gallery app with a crop action without the aspectX and aspectY parameters that lock the aspect of the crop box.
Note: This app needs the stock Gallery or Note 2 Gallery.
UPDATE:
2013/16/22 [v1.51]
- Fixed character encoding error in image paths.
- Other minor fixes.
2013/06/09 [v1.5]
- Prevents hiding part of wallpaper behind status bar.
- Lock screen wallpaper can be cropped to any size.
- Can work with AOSP's Gallery.
- Launcher icon with settings for some of the above features.
- Fixed screen rotation bugs.
If wallpaper scrolling is enabled, it's better to select an squared area or wider, or else you will see black bars to the sides or a scaled image. This version lets you choose what happens in that case.
2013/05/06
- Works with Quickpic.
- Better lockscreen wallpaper size (checks status bar height).
- Home screen wallpaper maximum width is 960; minimum is 800.
- Checks if lockscreen wallpaper is writable. If not, S2 Gallery handles it.
2013/05/05
- Handles all lock screen wallpaper process. Works on Note 2 Gallery.
MAY NEED ROOT. This works by saving the image directly to the Gallery data folder.
- Lock screen crop box is fixed to match the screen.
- No lateral black bars in home screen.
- Signed. You must uninstall the previous version before trying to install this one.
- Kick ass icon.
2013/04/23
- Processes and sets Home wallpaper to prevent zooming.
- Checks whether the Gallery activity exists.
