trying to turn a animated GIF into a boot ani. how do i do this?
Boot animations arent animated gifs. They are a collection of pics like a flip book. I found some info and a PC app to do it. Google around a bit you'll find some info

Well there is probly a program out there to break up a GIF into or extract individual pictures
Sent from my MiUiCrAcK using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
Found this with google:
http://gifninja.com/split-animated-gif/new
It's web based, and you'll need to save each individual image and then resave as a .png, but it works.
Irfanview will do it. It's the Swiss army knife of image viewers for windows and the best freebie on the internet. Been around for many years. No spyware. If nothing else, everybody should have it just for the sake of having it. Lol, can you tell I think it's a great program?

How exactly do you do this? I have Infraview...but no dice with editing .gif? Or save as multiple images?
Open the gif in Irfanview and click options>extract all frames. A small window will open prompting you for the folder that you want to save them in. Browse to the folder you want to save it in. Before you save it though, at the bottom of the window you'll see a save as box. Click the arrow and select png (portable graphics network). Then click the save button. You should end up with a picture for each frame in the animated gif saved in the proper format.
If you only want to do minimal editing, you might be able to use Irfanview to edit them however it's editing abilities are quite limited. Much like those of MS Paint. If one of those programs doesn't work for editing them the way you want, use whatever graphics editor suits you fancy.

I have tried a multitude of the other guides for other devices, but so far no luck. I have the pt1 and pt2 folders set up just need to know the config for thunderbolt.
Thanks
Garrett
Drop pt.1 pt.2 into "bootanimation.zip" Use Root Explorer to copy it to the system/media folder. Make sure its the right folder, check "system/customize/resources" if not media if you didn't know. Text file in zip. Works for my thunderbolt running Bamf Sense3.0 RC4.9 Running stargate bootanimation.

Take wife, take car, don't touch my Thunderbolt...
I dropped a link to my bootanimation.zip file. Just add your pt.1 pt.2 to the zip and drop it in your "system/media" or "system/customize/resources" file, which ever one it is. Use Root Explorer, if you didn't know that is. Use at own risk. I don't know what you files are. Make nand backup always....
Take wife, take car, don't touch my Thunderbolt...
You need a .txt file to let the phone know what part to run when and at what fps but I can't remember the code, my suggestion is to find your stock ani and look inside it for this

OK so I looked at your ani and this is what I suggest
First the only folders that should be in the zip is part 1, part 2, and the desc.txt
When I opened your zip these files were inside two other folders
Second change the PNG numbers to start at 1 (they currently start at 3
Third change the numbering to 3 digits instead of what you have now. Ie 001....etc
I can't guarantee this will fix it but its all I got. Lol

Hey Guys,
I wanted to offer this to anyone who didn't know how to do it. I can create custom boot animations for you from .avi or flash video formats.
Also, if you see one for another device anywhere and would like it modified for our device resolution, let me know and I will convert it.
I have tested all of these on my device, so they are confirmed working. If not let me know and I will fix it. I am not responsible for any problems caused by you doing something wrong in the flashing process.
Simply post post a url to your video. That's it. YouTube is a good source.
I will do them according to post order.
Here is where the ones I've done will be listed. They are all flashable in CWM recovery
Credit for Call of Android goes to this thread. All i did was make it flashable and optimize the resolution for our device.

Hi, I would love to have the "glowing S" boot animation that is used with the Perception and Cognition 777 roms to use with Unnamed 1.3.1 ...Forgive my ignorance if this isn't possible to flash over or simply isn't cool to the dev. I'm new to the community and still learning the do's and don'ts. Either way THANKS!
I don't have a video of a specific one but would it be possible to make one resemble the old SEGA or Nintendo animations? Maybe even change it to say Android or SGSII in that font?
I made some crude animations of what I have in mind, if anyone is more animation savvy and willing to play with it please feel free to do so. These are very basic so please don't hate on them haha

Here is the file for that animation that you need to place in your system/media folder. Use root explorer and copy and paste. Be sure to rename original bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak.
I tested it and it does work, however it doesnt have the sound, which I would rather not have anyway personally, but if you do want the sound let me know and I will work it up to.

My reason is to give the appearance of stock bootup even though I am running root and Zedomax OC kernel. I already have my jig to reset the flash count (lost the yellow ! triangle - - YAY!!)

Have you used emulators before? What file type did the game come in? Was it a zip file? If so, I believe you need to extract it. You should get an .img file or .bin file. Maybe a .cue file.

Ive only used emulators on computers. This is my first time using an emulator like this. Ill try extracting the files. Before I would just take the .zip file and place it on my sd card.
Is ISO just a fancy name for .img files and the like?
Ps1 emulators use a lot of different file types. If you look up the info on the app it should say what type it reads. I know it will run .bin files and I'm pretty sure .img files. Not sure about .iso. probably will tho. If you get a file running on your PC though, it should run on this app

PocketISO that they want you to download is for modifying your own ISO's from discs you have. (Making them smaller, etc.)
You don't need to mess with it.
It doesn't matter where the BIOS is as long as you can find it.
Games need to be unzipped and should be in one of these formats: .bin, .iso, .img
If you attempt to simply change the extension in Windows you'll break the file.
I recommend emuparadise.com
Most of the files they have are already in .bin format. Just unzip, copy to your SD card and JOY.
I will be closing this thread, and here is the reason -

I'm not sure that this particular method would work if you keep those names, but who knows, there may be a workaround. I actually keep the files with descriptive names in dropbox, but when I move the ones I want to use over to the SD card, I rename them 1 through whatever. That way, I keep the names for my purposes, but they behave when they're on my phone.
Definitely worth the effort to learn how to use Tasker, it's really a revolutionary app. You can eliminate a LOT of standalone apps that just do specific tasks like this using Tasker, and make your phone behave in ways that are positively magical.
