X10i... Which Rom? (short review on a few :) ) - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Over the last few days i have been on a lot of different roms to experiment and now i will help people stuck at the current moment deciding on what i have found good and bad about the few i used.
Wolfbreak V7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988)
currently on, and loving it keeping the X10 SE theme but adding tweeks, and i have had no major issues with the ROM, i had a bit of slowdown at start but expected, its fast smooth stylish and has a gaming version
Superb work there wolf keep up the good work
ZMOD CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213843)
Another brilliant design for the X10, but using Cyanogenmod 7 design over the stock SE type, again no major issues and a few added extra tweeks for extra sweetness like a theme engine and ability to change lock screens
The ROM again is smooth stylish and fast, my number 1 choice if i dont want a SE style rom at the time
Looking forward to your ICS ROM zdzihu great work
ThGo v13 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193001)
A dam fast ROM here with ICS looks and a few extra tweeks, its nice smooth and bugless, comes with Appman which is becoming the standard these days.
Its a nice change from the normal of Cyanogenmod and SE looks and worth a good look at
If you dont like the look but like the aspects of it try T.E.A.M v3.8 ROM works the same, different look
These are the 3 ROMs i have tried over the last few days, and now that Wolfbreaks ROM has finally woken up correctly im liking this the most but do try different ROMs all part of the experience

the style is... well im an CM guy but if you like iphone style it´s great the icons are very clear and never are clumsy or anythinge screeen transition is very smooth and tha launer is to the max. the Wallpapers are sharp as a knive and themes are realy cool like a simspons theme with simpsons text art and everything buu they are hundresds of themes right now. any game i tested runs smooth wifi reception is great and for me it never cuts off when im in range.
in my opinion Oodie´s MUIU is the stablest MUIU for x10 here in the market.

I've run WB v6 for a very long and just recently switched to Oodie MIUI
WB v6 was giving me a few issues. Phone was getting laggy the longer I went between boots. I was previously on v4 and never had any issues. I even flashed stock 2.3 then flashed back to WB v6 and still had problems. A little gun shy to try v7, but just might do so.
Oodie's MIUI is excellent. My only beef with this rom is battery life. It seems like 24 hours is the most I can go on one charge. Otherwise, it is smooth, fast, and beautiful. I did decide to run the XperiaMIUI http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459059 theme because I love the ICS colors and look. Also went to MIUIAndroid.com and downloaded the 5 point lockscreen. With 5 point, you can unlock to home, camera, messaging, web, or dial screen. That's the best part about MIUI. You can customize your eyes out! If only I could get some battery life, I'd be sold for life.

Stock 2.1 Vs FreeX10 2.2 Vs CM 6.1.3 V4.1 Vs Gingerbread

Hello All,
I have been following XDA from a long time. I have tried all the roms on my X10 posted by diff devs. Here is my experience,
1) For 2.1, Bluesparks Rom worked the best and gave the maximum battery back with the best 843 QUADRANT SCORE.
2) in 2.2 segment, I tried FreeX10 beta 4 and CM 6.1.3 v4.1, although both roms work almost similarly, i find FreeX10 more clean and some how looks better on x10( after applying the semipertal HC theme).. CM rom makes the phone look cheap and the set of icons just dont look good.
Also the battery life is almost similar for the two roms But its was about 70% of the one with 2.1 rom.
Also, one problem with the 2.2 roms is the dialer(not the battery issue) , the dialer looks bad..stock 2.1 dialer is awesome with big picture of the caller..My view.
3) Gingerbread scene is still not set.. roms r not very stable..IN my view best would be to wait for the rom designed for ARC to be made fully functional on x10 and then use it. they tend to heat the phone as well.
GUys please post your experiences and share the ways, how u worked out your problems so that we all can use the device the way it is meant to

Don't forget 2.2 TripNMIUI with Arc home and widgets..It looks fantastic in my opinion!! and all work fast and properly!! ..howerever..i think that cm6.1 is more personalizable than Free X10..but anyway they are two good roms!! You are right saying that the dialer of 2.2 and 2.3 is not so nice like in 2.1..I hope that Trip can fix his TripNArc rom so we can have the SE awesome dialer back again!!

Which is the best rom for x10 mini pro?

Hi guys,
I'm using MiniCM6 v 5.0 by slade87 now. Recently I have had some random reboots and it seems to be slower.
Which rom do you use? Why?
Well i use froyocomb 1.6 to fit my honeycombs needs
And it is also fast and it saves battery!
But if your phone goes slow you can just adjust the cpu settings so it goes as fast as you wish
Or change rom i suggest using froyocomb or cyanocomb
They are really fast and stable!
But they keep getting updated fast with a lot of new things
When I try to change cpu settings I have a lot of reboots. I don't know what to change to avoid this.
Has Froyocomb the same feature of MiniCM?
Sonybread 2.0 imo.
"Stock Rom with Dualtouch & Link2Sd & Set Cpu" Works fine for me, used Custom Roms allot but they not really stable until now and little bit buggy bad not so bad but for everyday use i thing i had so much problems now that i went to stock and iam happy
Once you install a custom rom it's hard to come back to the stock rom
Currently got the stock 2.1 rom on mine.
But then again I've stuck my work sim in it and only really use it for calls/sms/email
I have a zte blade (with CM7) that I use for most stuff.
I have MiniCM6 v5 also. Had serious reboots and then I decided to install Advanced Task Manager and since then I've not had reboots
Try it.
Hi there...
got the same question...
Tested about every custom ROM and no one is really stable.
When its stable then one bug for an example is only VGA Cam and i need my CAM.
So @the moment i see no chance for custom ROM and try the stock ROM with App2SD ;(
But its really hard from custom back to Stock

Really??? Thanks!
Custom roms always seem to have serious issues. Camera not working or with pathetic VGA resolution, random reboots, missing features.
I installed some rom once to test. You couldn't even switch mobile networks manually and that wasn't even listed into the "bugs" section. It seems people are too busy with themes, overclocking and bundling the best music player. They also forget that the screen is just 320x240 and it should be usable with just one thumb.
At least the stock rom had some basic testing done, even though there are some things that I don't understand how they can left it that way (eg. buggy calendar alarms).
I tried to convince a Sony Ericsson employee to try to get things fixed but all I got was the last sentence of my signature.
SonyBread V2.0 is the BEST ROM EVERRRRR!!! Its gingerbread plus it makes u feel like its a real gingerbread rom given by sony ericcsson themselves plus its fast and really stable!!!!
Try it, it wont let you down I promise!

And does the rom have important bugs or missing features?
Like all the custom roms... stock camera ain't working but if u want gingerbread and a sony erriccson look and feel install the new sonybread v3.0 just released...now...lol enjoy minor bugs??? Hmmm not even significantly minor enuff to notice to b honest bt giv it a shot I promise its good
..::XDA RocK::..
SonyBread V2.0 has only VGA Cam and thats for me the "killing feature"
My Desire Z is good but the Cam quality is very bad, the X10 Mini Pro has a very good cam so i need ONE good cam and thats the reason not to install SonyBread V2.0
What I don't understand is that most you custom rom haters hate on custom roms disadvantages and make the smallest problem a major one.... if that's the case I'm sorry to say shut up and stick with android 2.1 while us custom rom ppl will enjoy the plus features of gingerbread sheeeeesh and if custom rom lacks this that this that and stock rom has everything why on earth are u lookin for a custom rom :/ be real.....

yeah farhandjobino's right. VGA camera is negligible in the scheme of things... you get Multitouch, Overclock, Battery Save, Overall Speed Increase, etc from using these roms. the only reason you'd get reboots has to do with your data. clean custom roms hardly reboot on virgin systems. so shove that in your pipe and smoke it, Custom ROM Hater Fags

[Q] Most Stable working Rom

Everyone's got an opinion on the "Best" rom, I just wanted to see which rom the forum thinks is the most stable with everything working.
I've tried lots of them and cant decide.
Obviously, it is Wolfbreak's rom. hands down.
T.A.E.M rom is great i think its better then wolfbreak's rom
Sent from my X10i or HD2 or Milestone XT720 or Samsung Galaxy S or Samsung Galaxy S2
In my opinion, on the sum of parameters, now the best ROM is ThGo2, v10
MIUI is best...
I have found Oodie's CM ROM has been great
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384147
Battery life is good as is the stability.
for further stability, any stock se 2.3.3 rom ( locked and unlocked bootlaoder)
custom:
miui- oodies light version, also i used tripndroid rom which was pretty stable as well..u can find this one in modaco
cm7- zmods 2.3.5

ohh you're damn right. for me, that is the best of the best. REALLY THE BEST.
@deckerm, if you want a recommendation from me, try ThGo2. There is a new version, the v13, but a bootmanager kernel needs to be fixed. but there's a stable version of the rom, just look at it, and you will look happy.
but for the majority of the people here in the forum, Wolfbreak's rom is the one.
but for me, hands down. ThGo2 rom. ^^
I like EWJet, its super fast and everything is working great!

Stock rom: Wolf, ThGo2 and ... ----- stable and can be fast with custom kernel
cm rom: FXP is ****ing fast, MIUI has greate UI.
For long term stability, Wolf is the rom. T.E.A.M. is good, too. Currently using prime, no problems except the ones I create. Any rom must settle some and although our phones are X10, they can react differently to the same rom. For your poll, Wolf will probably be on top.
I totally agree!! For me Wolf's Rom gives me best stability & fastest Gingerbread Rom I tried so far!!!
Only thing I regret is not having anything to flash no more :'(
Great Rom!!!!
Sent from my X10 using Wolf's Gingerbread UB
I like TEAM.
I started to have stability problems with Wolf's rom after 1.5 mo of use w/o flashing (stuck on start-up after reboot, stuck in airplane mode). I switched over to TEAM for the last 3 mo. and no stability problems and speed is good. Then again everyone's phone reacts differently due to settings & apps, so I say try one, and if it doesn't work, try another.
MIUI Prime for me the best rom I had before. Very stable, nice and long battery life (about 3-5 days with 2G only, synch off, brightness 40%).
Oodies CM7 for me. Great battery life and smooth running.
wolf's ROM does not really give the best battery life possible.... I'm still looking for a ROM that can give best battery life.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Probably not but I don't think that any Rom can make my battery last much longer!! My battery normally lasts about a day, while heavy usage!! I Also calibrated it.
If you want your battery to last for a long time, I'd suggest to buy a larger battery, that's just my opinion.

Totaly agree im a cyanogenmod guy because i like the twaeks and extras and overall i don´t like wolfs WLAN instability for me again and again WLAN rips of deactivate its selfs and so on... additional if you using ttorrent you can forget wolfs rom also MUIU Prime because WLOD.
Needles to say that Wolfbreak and Oodie did a ****ing great job on this rom´s but i don´t like how MUIU looks like Iphone or BADA. Because why did we buy an android device? because it has to look like ab Iphone? Well...
FXP 7.2 is very stable and if ya a gamer... well the quadrant score for me with 245- 1037 with governor Interactiv was over 1300
many great games run smooth for example: Dead speace for android, Thirdblade and asphalt 5 runs great lags are possible yeah but very rare
Hit thanls if i helped

Well, hard to beat stock on stability

[Q] [ATTN]Flashaholics...Fastest Rom?

I'm looking for some input from the flashaholics out there.
What is currently the fastest rom with everything working (except 4G)?
**Not worried about 4G since I'm unlocked. When I say fast I'm talking real world speed and smoothness.**

I keep coming back to this one for speed and stability.

Awesome. I was just going to ask this question here myself.
I've finally dove into unlocking my bootloader.
I was using Imperative Initiative for a couple of weeks, but grew tired of the remnants of Blur and the overall red theme.
I was extremely happy with the performance, though!
I tried a few CM7 ROMS, and was happy with them, but through either my somewhat sloppy ROM flashing, or quirks of the CM7 ROMS, (Or the kernels I was throwing at the ROMS) bits and pieces weren't working for me.
(Synching with exchange servers, Wi-Fi issues etc...)
After wrestling with a few different CM7 ROMS, I'm getting Imperitave Initiative loaded back up right now.
I'm currently on Loki's v1.0.4. It is a very nice rom but doesn't seem to be any smoother for me than stock. I know the benchmark scores might be better and there is more space free on the phone but I'm looking for a real world difference. Going to try with a different launcher and see how that feels.
So far I think CM9 has been the fastest interface but not everything works.
Anyone else? Maybe stock or stock w/deblur script is the fastest no-sacrifice interface there is for the Photon.
**Edit: I have tweaked the interface a bit more in Loki's 1.0.4 and now that it has run a bit I think the interface is indeed faster than it was with stock. Haven't added all my widgets yet but looks to be promising.

The problem with Imperium is the launcher. Then again the problem with Blur is the launcher. I included VTL as the dev has always responded to my include requests and overall it's not a bad launcher. Imperium really starts to shine when using smooth launchers. Zeam and LauncherPro run pretty smooth and Go runs like liquid. I may end up dropping VTL in the next release for more eyecandy and smoothness but am not sure yet.
CM has always been very responsive for me. A lot has to do with the lack of overhead from manufacturer junk. It takes a lot of magic to get most stock roms to perform as well as CM in general. Blur is pretty much hopeless in the regard as even running at 1.3 Blur home is still choppy junk.
Stock with the deblur script will show noticeable improvement but ADW is not the smoothest of launchers. It was used because nobody other than VTL responded to my include requests. A solution would be to pick a smooth, fast launcher and rename it to replace ADW in the script folder then run the script. If any of the launcher devs ever get back to me I will replace ADW. Then again I might just say the hell with it and use a smoother launcher without getting include permissions.

Thanks for the tip. VTL was not running bad at all but put LPP on there and it is pretty quick (plus the features and built in widgets are nice to have). Have used Go in the past on stock but it slowed the phone up considerably when using the widgets. Zeam just doesn't have enough features for my taste.
So far your rom is kickin' some stock butt. I should of tried it sooner. Thanks.
Flashaholics...?? What's that and is there a help class for this? Ha haLike a tractor beam, sucked me right in!
I haven't ran benchmarks on them all for a while, but 6476 on tutu is just wat I got on jokers cm9 0.6.0 build. I use for daily. Cm7 cy's builds was what I used before jokers, but ics runs super smooth for me so I stayed.
Best of luck in your descoveries.

jrebo's score is low because he's not using a class10 card and on the older version. With a class10 on v1.0.5 the scores are around 6500. Running at 750MhZ single core, Initiative v1.0.5 is about as fast as the OG Evo is at 1GhZ.

Reason I don't really care about the benchmarks....variables. Real world performance (on my phone with my setup) is the only thing that matters to me, not some number.
I am crowning Loki's rom the champion. Everything works since it has stock base and my Photon could not be more responsive. There is zero lag between screens, app drawer launch, starting programs, etc. Everything I was looking for in an interface with added bonus of Webtop+/Ubuntop which is awesome in itself.

I only use certain benches for testing and analysis but folks can't seem to leave them alone as the final word on ROM performance. That's why I explained why the scores were what they were.

Webtop is about to get better for a lot of folks, not just unlocked MoPho users. More on that later.
BTW. Thanks for the the thumbs up on Imperium. If it wasn't for folks like you I would have dropped it a long time ago.

MIUI VS Cyanogenmod 7.2 on p500

My purpose of creating this thread is to discuss about the smoothness
User friendly, customization, stability of both roms on our p500/p505 etc

for p500 miui is based on cm7!
Cm7 is based on Android!
Android is based on Linux!
And Linux is based on UNIX!
I haven't forgot that!

CM7, period. Performance-wise, the difference is negligible. When it comes to customization, however, the base CM far outstrips MIUI. You can make CM look like stock Android or like MIUI, like an iPhone or even WP7. Or get a launcher like Sslauncher and you can make it look like no other smartphone out there. With MIUI, you're pretty much stuck with MIUI looks, which is great if you're a MIUI fan, but can get pretty restricting otherwise. Oh, sure, you can customize it so that it looks completely different, but that's a bit more work and when you're done, it's more or less no longer MIUI.

MIUI doesn't look beautiful on P500 resolution. That's why they don't support mdpi devices officially.

& it is far more customizable then cm7 in all respects
So which are the actual differences?
Normally people will preffer what they have on their phones and stand by that, its obvious, but what differences one another?
> MIUI is all about looks and ui customization, while cm7 is also for customization thats why it had the tmobile theme engine on it. so difference would only be in User interface.. if you said MIUI is fast and smooth then so as cm7..

It's more or less really just the user interface, and the few MIUI-specific apps. Since MIUI on the P500 uses CM as a base, any performance gains one has over the other is really dependent on any tweaks or optimization a particular ROM has. Whether someone chooses MIUI or CM is just a matter of preference -- there's no such thing as a "better" ROM.
Edit: Ninja'd by neko.
I use gsnap by neko and it's the best for me, I tried MIUI and it looked much better than others but MIUI lacked smoothness due to it's framework..

Not due to its framework, due to the fact that we dont have the source to build from. You have a binary ports here, that is the HUGE difference between the CM7 and the miui roms. Even though it is based on our CM7 which is built from source, we do not have the source for the framework and other libs (which are miuicentric so to speak) to really mess around with and make fit better on our devices. By fit i dont mean mdpi though. I have flashed almost every miui rom here and always end up back on CM9 because of the new features available in ICS. I find that although the work these guys are doing are incredibly impressive, these binary apps sometimes clash with our base rom, superuser being one of the culprits. If our devs did have the code, lots of the bugs and fc's we experience would be sorted out quick enough to build a very able port.
Miui is more than just a UI paradigm, the lockscreen is amazing, but laggy. The music apps far outstrips the standard player in every respect. The black/white list functions available in the miui securtity suite is awesome. The launcher sucks ass though when you compare it other launchers. I take ages creating folders so I have only ONE homescreen because lets face it, memory is an issue on our roms. So when it comes down to it, miui is more than just a UI change over CM7 or even CM9.
For those who scream customization, most CM7 settings are still available in these miui roms. It all boils down to user preference, I grab every possible miui app that will work on my rom but stick to cyanogenmod for the basic rom.
