My purpose of creating this thread is to discuss about the smoothness
User friendly, customization, stability of both roms on our p500/p505 etc

for p500 miui is based on cm7!
Cm7 is based on Android!
Android is based on Linux!
And Linux is based on UNIX!
I haven't forgot that!

CM7, period. Performance-wise, the difference is negligible. When it comes to customization, however, the base CM far outstrips MIUI. You can make CM look like stock Android or like MIUI, like an iPhone or even WP7. Or get a launcher like Sslauncher and you can make it look like no other smartphone out there. With MIUI, you're pretty much stuck with MIUI looks, which is great if you're a MIUI fan, but can get pretty restricting otherwise. Oh, sure, you can customize it so that it looks completely different, but that's a bit more work and when you're done, it's more or less no longer MIUI.

MIUI doesn't look beautiful on P500 resolution. That's why they don't support mdpi devices officially.

& it is far more customizable then cm7 in all respects
So which are the actual differences?
Normally people will preffer what they have on their phones and stand by that, its obvious, but what differences one another?
> MIUI is all about looks and ui customization, while cm7 is also for customization thats why it had the tmobile theme engine on it. so difference would only be in User interface.. if you said MIUI is fast and smooth then so as cm7..

It's more or less really just the user interface, and the few MIUI-specific apps. Since MIUI on the P500 uses CM as a base, any performance gains one has over the other is really dependent on any tweaks or optimization a particular ROM has. Whether someone chooses MIUI or CM is just a matter of preference -- there's no such thing as a "better" ROM.
Edit: Ninja'd by neko.
I use gsnap by neko and it's the best for me, I tried MIUI and it looked much better than others but MIUI lacked smoothness due to it's framework..

Not due to its framework, due to the fact that we dont have the source to build from. You have a binary ports here, that is the HUGE difference between the CM7 and the miui roms. Even though it is based on our CM7 which is built from source, we do not have the source for the framework and other libs (which are miuicentric so to speak) to really mess around with and make fit better on our devices. By fit i dont mean mdpi though. I have flashed almost every miui rom here and always end up back on CM9 because of the new features available in ICS. I find that although the work these guys are doing are incredibly impressive, these binary apps sometimes clash with our base rom, superuser being one of the culprits. If our devs did have the code, lots of the bugs and fc's we experience would be sorted out quick enough to build a very able port.
Miui is more than just a UI paradigm, the lockscreen is amazing, but laggy. The music apps far outstrips the standard player in every respect. The black/white list functions available in the miui securtity suite is awesome. The launcher sucks ass though when you compare it other launchers. I take ages creating folders so I have only ONE homescreen because lets face it, memory is an issue on our roms. So when it comes down to it, miui is more than just a UI change over CM7 or even CM9.
For those who scream customization, most CM7 settings are still available in these miui roms. It all boils down to user preference, I grab every possible miui app that will work on my rom but stick to cyanogenmod for the basic rom.

Soo i happened to change my default launcher to launcher pro instead of sense. The Reslult? most benchmarks i found had a huge improvement, notably cfbench and nenemark. Just thought id pass this along to show those Galaxy SII snobs we can keep up on benchmarks even with a higher resolution
What app did you use to measure? I'd like to try one since I disabled pretty much every non essential package possible and running ADW Ex.
At x33 overclock, I get 13,000+ in CF. I never tried with Sense..

Use CFBench Or Nenamark. Ive had good results too from ANTUTU
I got overall 5163, don't know what that means, don't really care lol. Using CF Bench. Right there with the sensation. About 1300 under the SG2
Im sure over clocking and a fresh reboot would give it a significantly higher score.

btw... once you have a different launcer installed, you can go into TiBu and freeze (i uninstall) alllll the sense stuff... Not some of the frameworks... But in doing this you get a HUGE memory reduction, as well as sell CPU activity.

It's almost all in the framework and service.jar file
The notification bar

Over the last few days i have been on a lot of different roms to experiment and now i will help people stuck at the current moment deciding on what i have found good and bad about the few i used.
Wolfbreak V7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988)
currently on, and loving it keeping the X10 SE theme but adding tweeks, and i have had no major issues with the ROM, i had a bit of slowdown at start but expected, its fast smooth stylish and has a gaming version
Superb work there wolf keep up the good work
ZMOD CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213843)
Another brilliant design for the X10, but using Cyanogenmod 7 design over the stock SE type, again no major issues and a few added extra tweeks for extra sweetness like a theme engine and ability to change lock screens
The ROM again is smooth stylish and fast, my number 1 choice if i dont want a SE style rom at the time
Looking forward to your ICS ROM zdzihu great work
ThGo v13 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193001)
A dam fast ROM here with ICS looks and a few extra tweeks, its nice smooth and bugless, comes with Appman which is becoming the standard these days.
Its a nice change from the normal of Cyanogenmod and SE looks and worth a good look at
If you dont like the look but like the aspects of it try T.E.A.M v3.8 ROM works the same, different look
These are the 3 ROMs i have tried over the last few days, and now that Wolfbreaks ROM has finally woken up correctly im liking this the most but do try different ROMs all part of the experience

the style is... well im an CM guy but if you like iphone style it´s great the icons are very clear and never are clumsy or anythinge screeen transition is very smooth and tha launer is to the max. the Wallpapers are sharp as a knive and themes are realy cool like a simspons theme with simpsons text art and everything buu they are hundresds of themes right now. any game i tested runs smooth wifi reception is great and for me it never cuts off when im in range.
in my opinion Oodie´s MUIU is the stablest MUIU for x10 here in the market.
I've run WB v6 for a very long and just recently switched to Oodie MIUI
WB v6 was giving me a few issues. Phone was getting laggy the longer I went between boots. I was previously on v4 and never had any issues. I even flashed stock 2.3 then flashed back to WB v6 and still had problems. A little gun shy to try v7, but just might do so.
Oodie's MIUI is excellent. My only beef with this rom is battery life. It seems like 24 hours is the most I can go on one charge. Otherwise, it is smooth, fast, and beautiful. I did decide to run the XperiaMIUI http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459059 theme because I love the ICS colors and look. Also went to MIUIAndroid.com and downloaded the 5 point lockscreen. With 5 point, you can unlock to home, camera, messaging, web, or dial screen. That's the best part about MIUI. You can customize your eyes out! If only I could get some battery life, I'd be sold for life.

Awesome. I was just going to ask this question here myself.
I've finally dove into unlocking my bootloader.
I was using Imperative Initiative for a couple of weeks, but grew tired of the remnants of Blur and the overall red theme.
I was extremely happy with the performance, though!
I tried a few CM7 ROMS, and was happy with them, but through either my somewhat sloppy ROM flashing, or quirks of the CM7 ROMS, (Or the kernels I was throwing at the ROMS) bits and pieces weren't working for me.
(Synching with exchange servers, Wi-Fi issues etc...)
After wrestling with a few different CM7 ROMS, I'm getting Imperitave Initiative loaded back up right now.
I'm currently on Loki's v1.0.4. It is a very nice rom but doesn't seem to be any smoother for me than stock. I know the benchmark scores might be better and there is more space free on the phone but I'm looking for a real world difference. Going to try with a different launcher and see how that feels.
So far I think CM9 has been the fastest interface but not everything works.
Anyone else? Maybe stock or stock w/deblur script is the fastest no-sacrifice interface there is for the Photon.
**Edit: I have tweaked the interface a bit more in Loki's 1.0.4 and now that it has run a bit I think the interface is indeed faster than it was with stock. Haven't added all my widgets yet but looks to be promising.

The problem with Imperium is the launcher. Then again the problem with Blur is the launcher. I included VTL as the dev has always responded to my include requests and overall it's not a bad launcher. Imperium really starts to shine when using smooth launchers. Zeam and LauncherPro run pretty smooth and Go runs like liquid. I may end up dropping VTL in the next release for more eyecandy and smoothness but am not sure yet.
CM has always been very responsive for me. A lot has to do with the lack of overhead from manufacturer junk. It takes a lot of magic to get most stock roms to perform as well as CM in general. Blur is pretty much hopeless in the regard as even running at 1.3 Blur home is still choppy junk.
Stock with the deblur script will show noticeable improvement but ADW is not the smoothest of launchers. It was used because nobody other than VTL responded to my include requests. A solution would be to pick a smooth, fast launcher and rename it to replace ADW in the script folder then run the script. If any of the launcher devs ever get back to me I will replace ADW. Then again I might just say the hell with it and use a smoother launcher without getting include permissions.

Thanks for the tip. VTL was not running bad at all but put LPP on there and it is pretty quick (plus the features and built in widgets are nice to have). Have used Go in the past on stock but it slowed the phone up considerably when using the widgets. Zeam just doesn't have enough features for my taste.
So far your rom is kickin' some stock butt. I should of tried it sooner. Thanks.

jrebo's score is low because he's not using a class10 card and on the older version. With a class10 on v1.0.5 the scores are around 6500. Running at 750MhZ single core, Initiative v1.0.5 is about as fast as the OG Evo is at 1GhZ.

Reason I don't really care about the benchmarks....variables. Real world performance (on my phone with my setup) is the only thing that matters to me, not some number.
I am crowning Loki's rom the champion. Everything works since it has stock base and my Photon could not be more responsive. There is zero lag between screens, app drawer launch, starting programs, etc. Everything I was looking for in an interface with added bonus of Webtop+/Ubuntop which is awesome in itself.

I only use certain benches for testing and analysis but folks can't seem to leave them alone as the final word on ROM performance. That's why I explained why the scores were what they were.

Webtop is about to get better for a lot of folks, not just unlocked MoPho users. More on that later.
BTW. Thanks for the the thumbs up on Imperium. If it wasn't for folks like you I would have dropped it a long time ago.

working on my version of halo app just waiting for PA to finalise their halo for kk:highfive:
Hello everybody,
I'd like to try it out but in my previous experience with kk I had some issues... For example the ram consumption was too much... I'm using utter and facebook for my business all the time so there's not any ram left and the phone becomes unusable... (I'm talking like 70 RAM remaining..) whereas on SJB I'm having all of those apps running and I still have 150 RAM left...
Is there any improvement in this particular rom?
Thanks in advance.

Im using it a whole day without experiencing any random reboots.
The Ram consumption is pretty amazing. I have an average of 150 to 180mb of free ram on idle.
even when facebook, messenger and google+ all open at once, its always fast.
technically this is the best and fastest rom ive ever tested on haida.
Camera works like a charm, tested all settings on both Picture and Video recording and got no problem.
And for Gaming, its sure fast and lag free at it has lots of free ram, tested Real Racing 2 and CSR Racing without any slowdowns.
Its like i have new phone on my Hand.
@rebelos your the best man. keep up the good work. :highfive:

Since a similar topic has 250+ pages on the Nexus 4 forum, it seems that it is not against the rules to share your personal setup in such thread. So let us get started and see what people like this time around
Atm i'm with cloudystock 2.4 + cloudykernel 1.4, i was testing the 2.5 release but it feels slower than the older version (2.4).
I use bruce's ROM and also bruce kernel. I like G2 UI more than G3 UI and also with G2 ROM you get the max features and stability of G2

Curently on stock 20f and bruce kernel
I've tried three roms so far, and here are my experiences with them. Please note that I respect the hard work of every developer - I am stating my personal experience which might not reflect nor represent the experience of other users.
I tried CloudyG3 1.3 with dorimanx kernels 6.8-7.6. Was a fantastic experience and I felt as if I got a new device. UI was beautiful and I loved the flat look. There were some occasional microstutter and battery life wasn't the best I had experienced (coming from stock unrooted) but the looks and the overall feeling was great.
Then I moved on to Pardus HD Classic 7.7 + dorimanx 7.7-7.8.
That was a fantastic rom, too. Battery life was absolutely extreme with dorimanx 7.8. I have next to no complaints about this comination because it works so good. With G2 Xposed and G2Tweaksbox I was able to get a G3ish look and everything was functioning well.
Yesterday I tried Mahdi 9-20 with its kernel.
That thing is blazing fast. Really. Battery life is on par with Cloudy G3. It is not as visually pleasing as CloudyG3 unless you're a sucker for AOSP. The main downside to it, is the horrible camera. My G2 used to take fantastic pictures, but since I switched, that ability is gone.
I might return to Pardus, but I'll give Mahdi a couple days first =)
Best rom until now cloudyG3 ! no need to change kernel.. !! cloudy kernel is just fine!! battery is good but perfomance is the best...
u can flash also g2 camera so u can have both G3 and G2 camera!
just the best until now... !
and stock roms are way better than aosp!
Now im using cloudy g3 2.0 or Liquid Smooth, aosp or g3 themed *_*

Cloudykernel 1.5
Switched to mahdi from stock yesterday and enjoying aosp experience.
cloudy g3 v2.0 and kernel dorimanX 7.8. it is super smooth
CloudyFlex 2.5 with dorimanx 7.8

I'm on cloudy G3 2.0 with cloudy kernel. So far it seems more battery hungry than 1.3. But i need to make a few more charging cycles to decide if i will stay on 2.0 or go back to 1.3. Btw , dirty flashed and 0 problems
mahdi + bart dorimanx kernel.

Now on stock 20d with Dorimanx kernel (although time and again I try flashing others) ? so far this is my "go to" combination cheers!

AICP on the stock AICP kernel that was tweaked by @Snuzzo, only change from stock is using Intelliactive governor, it is the best combination I have found for a ROM on the VS980.
CloudyG3 2.0
Now testing different kernels/voltages/settings to see if I can improve battery life even more
Whats the best rom for data/network signal?
I did some speed test because im suspecting cloudyg3 gets lesser signal than stock.
My speedtest proves me right.
With 15minutes interval and same spot.
What rom can you suggest for data and network signal? Thanks.

Speed tests are not an indication of speed... Your signal strength (not speed) should be irrelevant to the ROM, it is a function of the radios which are independent of the ROM itself, although how its displayed to you via the bars is ROM dependent. There are at least a dozen reasons those tests could be different. To test your signal levels, use a tool like Network Signal Info and look at your dBm level, which should a negative number from -60 to -120 with higher numeric values indicated stronger/better signal (-70 is better than -90).
Although I like Speedtest.net for quick speed tests, it is very inconsistent, if your on the US consider FCC Speed Test as it is more standardized but I do recommend going into settings and disabling Background Tests and device wake-up.
I would try a couple other ROMs as well.
