[Q] CWM not working on my Ace - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello guys, i don't know what i'm doing wrong here but i just cannot get it work.
I would like to install custom ROM's but i believe i need the CWM first.
I have tried to flash it through the original recovery and with odin using the "One packet" method but neither of these methods doesn't work. The flashing goes without any problems but when i try to enter the CWM(Home+Pwr) it freeses right at the "Samsung GT" logo and there appears to be green triangle at the top left corner..
Any advices?

Should there be some kind of menu? I only got the "Galaxy" logo and the triangle.

Which version of CWM?

Make sure that you go to recovery by holding the power and middle(home) button down. Make sure that your CWM is the correct version , v5.0.2.6. If this does not work, flash your phone using Odin to reset the firmware. It should work after that. The words in CWM v 5.0.2.6 should appear in blue. Please share more of your experiences here.

i've tried version 5.0.2.6 but it still wont work. I know i might be doing something wrong, i'm quite new with this stuff.
I downloaded the latest firmware from samfirmware.com and flashed it, and after that i tried the CWM. Should i try some other firmware?

Yes.. it could be because you did not install CWM 4.0.0.3. Try it, like kelvinkiller said.

Try this. I used it (the mrs. has ace) and it works. I had stock 2.3.6 before flashing. = no odin, no cwm 4.x needed..
(now I'm with carbon Sunday by Jusada, its great, just changed the theme and updated lagfree to v3)

This is exactly the tutorial i used first but it didn't work for me...unfortunately.
Gonna try with older version of CWM now and see it that works. Thanks for the help so far!

Sh&$it. good luck!
From my Galaxy (ICS RC3.1)

Ok, tried so far...
- ReFlash the latest firmware with odin
- Flash older CWM 4
- Flash CWM 5.0.2.6
- Flash the CWM 4 with odin
- Flash the "recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix"
i've tried several versions now and none of them works. So the problem is somewhere else than in the CWM versions i quess.
I think i'm gonna try the stock Firmware next and then flash the cwm 4.
Any ideas where can i get the stock? Don't have any backups lol.

Stock

From my Galaxy (ICS RC3.1)

try the version 4 if you are using 5

aargh, i tried to flash the stock ROM with odin but the phone freezes to start up. Gonna flash the lates FW again. This sucks!

OK!! With so many tries!!!
Remove your sim card and try.. In one of my friends phone cm7 only works when the sim card is removed
Hope it helps

[Q] UltraToxic Rom v8.0.2 startup yellow triangle removal?

Hi, I have just flashed UltraToxic Rom v8.0.2 on my device as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334124&page=69 I can't get rid of my yellow triangle with my mini USB jig. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial to do this? I have rooted a stock ROM before & the jig worked then. No idea why now. I think it might have to do with a kernel but I don't want to lose access to CWM / Titanium Backup Pro.
TIA
You need to flash the old bootloader in Odin then use the jig. Just Google it.
Edit: http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD
Just flash in the bootloader section of Odin.

Wait...so you flashed an I9000 kernel and it still booted? Maybe I will try investigating if we could just port kernels from the galaxy s phones.
But anyway..just boot into download mode and reflash one of the custom kernels for the 4.0.

I think a dev should make a sticky to bricks. They are coming up too often now.

Why would you flash a i9000 kernel on a YP-G1 ? What kernel did you flash, we're going to need that kernel to see what happened!

get odin, stock firmware, and flash the stock firmware with odin
I have the same problem since I've flashed a kernel for the Galaxy S.
My Galaxy player has not booted.
I have flashed Steves ROM and since that I have the same problems.
I've found so far no solution.
The flash of the stock firmware did not help.
I have also tested other ROMS.
Did you're player run 2.3 or 2.2 stock, because that would make a difference. If it ran 2.2 then therea you're problem isolated.
Infact I just noticed you said touch button, so are you sure its not US?

To install cm10 you need root access, go check cfroot by chain fire. Gapps is basically your Google now etc. With a custom recovery, just flash the cm10 and Gapps and you'll be good to go.
Stock kernel is subjective with very little difference. All kernels work for me so it's not so much of an issue deciding which is better.
The best rom is the one you try for yourself. Rom comparisons are not allowed on xda
Latest stock will be depending on whether you want android version 4. 1.1 or 4.0.4
Wrong section btw, should be posted in the q&a

You can safely ignore that error.
CWM in the apps drawer is the UI interface of the CWM recovery (accessed by pressing the Vol Up+Home+Power when booting up). CWM recovery works without a hitch.

All options are there when you boot into recovery, it is just the app that is incompatible, meaning a couple of the options won't work directly from the app....you need to boot into recovery to do those things.....don't worry, it's all there.
I personally prefer the older recovery as it doesn't use the blob method of backing up. And I'm used to the old way!

rom advice (wifes phone)

this is my wifes phone (I have a Note) I want to know what rom I can go to that is very stable , prefer ics :
Samsung SGH-I777
2.3.6
I777UCKK6
2.3.35.14
GINGERBREAD.UCKK6
sorry but I dont generally mess with her phone , she does have root and cwm touch 5.5.0.4 . There seems to be a wifi problem it turns on and then off , never sticking , I suppose wiping all might help , I hate seeming naive but when I mess with my own phone its all a chance , I dont want to just do that with hers!
There are a lot of stable roms. Do you want touchwiz based or AOSP based? I don't have an opinion on AOSP roms because I've barely used any of them.
For Samsung based roms, Shoman94's roms are very stable and popular. That's what I use as my daily driver. For ICS, use SHOstock2, but for the latest JB use SHOstock3.

If I remember correctly, I think that version of the Siyah kernel was put out by zedomax on GalaxyS2Root website. That kernel combined with UCKK6 was always a problem. In fact, that package was always a problem.
Anyway, the kernel has ClockworkMod Recovery. You should decide on a good rom, as discussed above, download the zip file and use usb to transfer it to the sdcard on the phone, then boot into recovery, perform a wipe data/factory reset, and flash the rom. It doesn't matter that you are on Gingerbread right now. You can flash either an ICS or JellyBean rom because the package will contain the complete system and kernel and modem, everything.
---------- Post added at 07:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 PM ----------
Enter recovery by holding down all three of vol + vol - and power buttons continuously until it boots into recovery. If it won't boot into recovery, then it might be a bad flash.
Thank you, I got the siyah kernel from a thread here, when I first got the phone (off ebay )it did in fact have the wrong kernel,I used entropy flash back to get back,I guess I did something else, but I will use one of the roms you mentioned ,glad we have you here ,I've been messing with wp7 the last few years and finally getting back to android (cept been playing with boot loaders in a500)

It is exactly that, a counter, and the only purpose of it as far as we know is warranty protection, so I would say no, it's not important. On the other hand, most folks don't like the splash screen with the yellow triangle, but you can remove that easily enough if you still get it on boot.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 i-777 does not turn on only blinking black flashes

okay so I read through some of the threads and I still don't know how to fix my issue. I rooted my phone using Odin v 1.85 and used siyah 3.4.2. I did it successfully and everything was good. I then gave the phone to my cousin and he said he performed a factory reset to get rid of everything on the phone ( contacts ,etc). Now when I turn on the phone it shows the samsung galaxy display with the triangle and then the screen goes black and just blinks. It still goes back into download mode I just dont know what to do to fix the problem. I know I'm a noob but please HELP!!!
Development section. You'll find the stickies that show how to flash stock packages with Odin. Go back to stock to fix your issue. You should then be able to load a new kernel and flash a custom rom.
Oh, and never let that cousin touch the phone again.

Flash a kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery, then boot into recovery and flash the firmware. Mobile Odin can't handle the CWM flashable zip format.
There is a Siyah kernel for gingerbread that would give you CWM so you could then flash a custom rom. It would be in the development section. Just make sure you grab the version for gingerbread and not ics

I assume you mean nandroid backup from ClockworkMod Recovery? No. It's mainly a space issue, where you want to store them, because they take up quite a bit of space, especially if you have several.

The general answer you will get around here is try them all. You can see what I like by looking in my signature.
I like both Shostock3 and the collective's rom. I don't think there is a bad rom on here.
