[Q] FFC picture angle on Bionix ROM - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I have just installed the FFC and tried it in Skype.
I now use Bionix NexGen V2 ROM.
I have performed tests with both Bali1.8.8UV and packaged (with ROM) Kernels.
In both cases my picture in Skype is rotated 180 degrees.
As the camera I've bought is suspected to be some clone,and
I don't 100% trust it. I would like to know whether this is normal behavior,
and it has some cure, or I have to send the camera back and ask for refund.
BTW, FFC worked in Skype without any problem and did not require any modification
in build.prop or anything else.
Thank you in advance for your answers!
PS: It would be great if someone who is satisfied with his camera, could let me know what is written on his FFC chip,
or post a picture of the whole thing so that I can compare it to one I have.
Mine was bought on ebay here .
And of course, please don't buy from them, until I will confirm they can be trusted.
Besides the angle issue, I also have a feeling that the main (rear) camera adds
some yellow tone in the center of a picture.
I would like you to post where did you buy your camera, in case you are happy with it.
Thanks!

Its not the camera. Its the firmware causing the rotation. I remember my ffc was like that on bionix.

Edit your build.prop (root explorer or sgs tools)
ro.product.model=SGH-T959
ro.product.name=SGH-T959
ro.product.device=SGH-T959
ro.product.board=SGH-T959
ro.build.product=SGH-T959
change SGH-T959 to GT-I9000
I attached sgstools here just in case.

I thought that changing values in build.prop won't have any effect at all,
but I was wrong.
Suggested changes caused the angle to change from 180 degrees to 90 degrees.
Are there any settings that will show my pic with no rotation at all?
Thanks!

try SGH-T959V and see if works correclty, also try using bionix frost (Vibrant 4g port)

It is offtopic, but does bionix frost have working GPS?

That didn't work, nor did Bionix Frost.
Angle becomes 180 degrees again.
But thank you anyway!

This is why I left bionix so long ago. Install an I9000-based rom.

Some suggestions:
1) update to the newest version (kaosFroyo is at v38, I believe)
2) look through the kaosFroyo thread to see if others are having similar issues
3) try a different ROM
It's good to try different ROMs anyway. They are all a little different and you won't really know which one you like the best until you try several.

I've tried a bunch of these ROMs and most of them have so much junk packed into them. So far the cleanest smoothest ROM is:
[ROM][GPL] CELB Froyo 3.5(Trackball and Led notifications working )10-26-10
Conap keeps all the junk out for you to install yourself. All these ROMs have a little camera issue. If you leave the camera app open and walk from your phone it'll reboot the phone. I can live with that one.
Try that CELB Froyo 3.5 it's really smooth.

For the camera issue, try using Vignette (awesome 3rd party cam) or camera magic.
Btw, my rom is pretty much modeled after conap's, so you can included FroShedYo in that list too ... less junk... more phone

Totally agree... worth every penny fo sho! Camera magic is damn nice for being free, too. And it's the quickest to activate ... but picture quality isn't as good as Vignette's.

Camera Hack from I9000 Forum

Hello guys. I'd like to start off by saying that im taking no credit for this just meerly reposting. here is the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860609 started in the I9000 Forum.. this app allows you to take a picture while pressing the power button and also pinch to zoom. In addition it allows you to take pictures even if the phone has a low battery %....
Installation per original OP "You can install it via "sgs tools" in the market. Select 'upgrade stock apps', then camera hack."
PS im not responsible for broken phones... tested using Axura 2.0.6 and it works..
As fas as i can tell this will work on Froyo roms NOT Eclair..i have tested on Nero roms aswell as Axura roms and all is good, pinch to zoom works and so does the HD recording... enjoy...
works! axura 2.0.6 thanks for sharing

Thanks for the find.

Working great on my phone with the froyocollaboration rom. I can't believe samsung wouldn't do this themselves! I think it could use a couple of minor updates/changes, but from reading that thread it looks like the op is way ahead of me.

Works fine on bone stock JK6. Has the FFC switch button as well, being based off the i9000 cam app.
Anyone else having issue recording video in 1280 x 720? Just wanted to double check here before I mention something in the original thread in the I9000 forum. I'm running stock JK2 deodexed. I don't know about anyone else but I would like to see this implemented on OUR stock camera.apk. Anyone with more intelligence than me able to possibley do this?

[MOD][EB01] Reworked QuickPanel

I put this together for my theme, but I figured I would share a stock version for those who don't do themes or might want to use it as a base for their theme/rom. I edited the text below the mobile data and auto rotation icons to read "Data" and "Rotation" so that everything would fit neatly on one line. All that was edited was the twframework-res.apk so feel free to flash the zip over your deodexed rom (even if you have applied an accurate battery/reboot options mod). You probably will not want to flash it over a theme, as it will change most of the expanded statusbar (minus a few .pngs that are dependent on the framework-res.apk).
Big thanks to DtachD for helping me sort out an issue with the padding.
Awesome! I don't see it available for your theme yet. Hope it will be soon .
Great work sir. I like the cleaner look but I seem to have a problem with the auto-rotate button: once I turm it off it won't come back on even though auto rotate works.

Nope, still the same. Just reflashed using the new red cwm included in sc 2.3 & on reboot the auto button shows on but once you toggle it off it stays off even though the auto-rotate works. I forgot to mention that I am using adw launcher (not ex) though. I will try it on the gb launcher that came with the rom & also try to re-d/l it as well.
UPDATE: Just tried it on stock launcher & tried a fresh d/l flashed after a dalvik & cache wipe-still the same. Button goes off & never comes back on even though the feature itself toggles-not a biggie as long as the functionality remains.

*SUCCES* Gingerbread Screen Rotation Animation

This mod depends on Samsung framework and wil not work on CM7 or other AOSP based builds.
Edit:
Well its done! Check out de video i made: http://www.izlesene.com/video/galaxy-s2-fancy-rotation-animation/5208061
A video from someone with better vidskillz
thnx mccune
I am testing if everything works on the phone. If so i will post instructions
Disclaimer: Thanks go out to Samsung for integrating fancy rotation in Gingerbread on the Note.
I only did find out which file caused the fancy rotation. (Why dev if it allready exists right?)
Attached libsurfaceflinger.so and libsurfaceflinger_client.so are from a 2.3.6 Note rom (KKA i believe)
Edit2:
Aight here it comes. This is tested to be working 100% on GB 2.3.6 XWKK2:
Push atached libsurfaceflinger.so and libsurfaceflinger_client.so to /system/lib
or copy it with rootexplorer and replace, your phone will soft reboot.
or create a cwm zip and share
voila
Custom rom builders: sacrafice your roms to this mod
CWM flashable zip by Intratech
Allright. I will make some sparetime and dive in to The note source to figure out if i can find something in myorientationlistener. I think The mFancyRotationAnimation could give something

Can confirm, works fine on CheckRom.
Okay, one small problem, sometimes if locking the phone upside down with CRT-animation on (both on screen off and screen on), when the screen comes on(press a button or something), sometimes the image shown on the screen is upside down and mirrored, but the touchscreen remains the same (not upside down), but it goes away when you unlock the phone. I don't know if it's from this or something else though.

Noticed that too just now. Also after a reboot: Under CRT-Animations the image is flipped upside down
Awesome!!! But it needs a little bit of work, because it doesn't display correctly the images in Gallery when rotating.
No probs on XWKK2. Also no flipped image on lock here.

[Q] photo sphere

just wondering, has anyone tried to install the new camera app?
i tried and theres no preview, but it take pics anyways, and photo sphere does not work
I also get no preview, just a white screen. Still takes pictures. Panorama fc's. Video creates unplayable video file, and I don't know if photo sphere works as the screen is all white. Gallery seems to work, but FC's on a couple editing options. Hopefully an easy fix. I'm on epinters cm10 (10/29) with 1300 oc.
