I found this on amazon, pretty much the cheapest and highest i can find on the class category, right now i have a 8GB Class 6 but im running out of space because of the HD videos im recording, will i noticed any significant difference in performance on this phone? and its Kingston and trust them
http://www.amazon.com/Professional-...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1292972644&sr=1-2
anyone got feedback??
I had a 8GB class 2 and the phone needed alone around 3 seconds till the screen went balck and the cam started after pressing the camera key and 1 or 2 seconds till the cam was on.
Now I have a 16GB class 4 and the cam starts immediately (around 0,5 sec after pressing the camera key) and needs around 1-2 seconds till the cam is started.
I think Mediascape etc is also faster with the class 4 than with the class 2.
I don't want to have a class 2 card in my phone anymore, the whole phone feels faster with an class 4 card.
So I'd say you'll feel a difference. If you have the money, go for a 16GB class 4.
it comes with a 16gb class 2
get a class 4 or higher.
preferably a class 6
I read that the phone can't use the performance plus of a class 6 card compared to a class 4 one, so a class 4 should be the best choice.
I'm using 16G class 10 that i bought from Amazon
it work with my X10 and never had any problem until today.
effect: Camera and music are faster then the 8gb c4.
forgot to post the name of my 16gb c10 micro sd brand: kingmax
Good, bought the same card yesterday, hopefully it will he shipped fast. Changed from a 16gb class4 to class10 because with the latest firmware the X10 can read & write with class10 speed...
I'm actually upgrading from a Class2 2GB to a Class 6 8GB, hoping the system overall runs faster so I cant vouch for class2/6 change yet, although I'd question the "cheapest one" for class 2 I found this
remove the space between the "w" since i cant post links yet

Did you guys try getting readings on SD Tools for read/write?
On the original SD Class 2 I got write 1.6mb/s and read 60 mb/s (WTF?)
and on a class 10 which I bought off ebay I got 13mb/s and 17 mb/s !
Sorry if I'm not relevant but how do I find on which class my card is on ?

The best possible card is the Lexar microSDHC 32Gb Class 10, but it comes with a price of ~100Euro.
For 16Gb, check if you can find a Class 10 from Lexar, Kingston, Sandisk as these are reputable producers.
Or if the price is right, you can check out a Class 6 or Class 10 made by TeamGroup or A-Data, these are 2nd tier producers.
In the end, remember that not always the fact that is written on the package makes it true.

I use this card and "bang for buck" its the best out there. Never had a problem and read/writes are exactly as stated. In fact, after installing a custom rom, changing to .58 baseband and then adding this card, its made me fall in love with this phone for the first time since I bought it and iv'e had mine since launch (UK). Excellent sdhc card, well worth the money, if like me, you use your phone as an entertainment device.
Class 6 Plus Camera Mod
A while back I stumbled on a camera mod for Build.Prop.. if you get a faster card.. you can adjust your FPS of cam.. I bought an 8Gb class 6 and with the mod it works quite well. So there is ways to improve your software if you want to upgrade your storage.. I got mine at Target with a reader for $20.00. Sure beats the stock 2Gb class 2

Class 10
I'm in the business of looking for one myself as well. From what i have been told your best bet is a class 6 and up. I am looking for a class 10 myself just because the read and right speed are the fastest. Taking pictures, recording video, etc.. always try with class 6 and up for sure.
I have a Sandisk 16GB Class 4 card and just tested the speed:
write: 5.5 mbps
read: 10.9 mbps
Never had any problems with video recording but I can imagine the difference between this one and a class 6 is noticable.
I bought a Xperia Mini pro SK17i a few days back. It came with a 2GB memory card. I want to upgrade to larger space.
Please tell me should I go for 16GB or 32GB one. Will there be any problems? I mean any slowing down or hanging etc. Also tell me what class of microSD should I buy?
Im using a Class6,32G card on my mini,i think it's fast enough.
It matters how much space you need. Class 4 and above is fast enough for the XMP, not it is just your choice how much space you need . Im using Class 4, 32GB SD Card and I haven't got any slow or problem with loading my music or pictures.
I'm on a 16gb class 6, no problem at all.

Go for a 32 GB one if you think you'll be able to utilise the space. If you pick a class 6 or 10 card you really shouldn't have any speed problems. Obviously a higher class card is faster - class 10 FTW!
Micro SD Card Suggestion
Well 16Gb or 32GB is based on your requirements
My suggestion would be 16GBclass 4 or 16GBclass 6
I am using 16GBclass 6 on my SE Live With Walkman and it has no problem
for me
Class are based on their speeds
Class2 -->2Mbs
Class4 -->4Mbs
Class6 -->6Mbs
Class8 -->8Mbs
Class10 -->10Mbs
Use "Crystalbenchmark" to test the read/write speed of your cards
First check the read/write speed of your 2GB sd card that came with
your device and this help you to differentiate speeds of different class
types

These are only minimal speeds, these can be higher.
I have Class 4, Sandisk, 16GB, Write is 8.7 MB/s, Read 28.9 MB/s.
There's a thread on this subject somewhere here.
What you need to consider as well is access speed.
Higher class cards transfer faster, but to do so, data has to be accessedfirst, and that takes longer with class 10 than class 2 for example.
That means, if you are goinf to work a lot with larger files, it pays you to get a high class, if on the other hand, you are going to onstall apps to work with small files a lot, it will actually slow you down.
Edit:
I've found it, anybody interested should look at the tests results

Hi has anyone bought a 32GB microSDHC card for their Mini/Pro? How is it?
I'm using a 32GB card to store my music on the phone. No problems with it. Works fine and it is just a class 4 card.

Thank you, that is great news. Does it take long for the Xperia Mini to read your SD card when you play music? 1 second, 5 seconds or?

Music just comes from speakers/headphones. No lag for me, so don't worry about the speed.
Says the person who has Class 4 16GB SDcard.
sorry i am a newbee..but could u tell me how to know whether the card is class 4 or 6 will it be written on memory card cover? or it depends on company which manufacture it?
It will be printed on card.(look for a big C numeral will be inside it)
Class 4 is sufficient. Class 6 is gud nd economical. Im using class 4 8gb, no issues

Time to report back!
Well I got a 32GB San Disk Class 4 and...it's brilliant...the music library doesn't need any time to load...it's all ready...and after synching music, it only has to load what's changed (sounds simple, but not all devices are do that, trust me!) so I'm very happy with it...the bottleneck so to speak is now the Sony music app...it doesn't connect very well to Media Go. I'll save that moaning for the right thread lol
p.s. there are many threads on here about testing the diffferent class performance of SD cards and Class 4 San Disk was by far the best...other class 10s did not perform better reading and writing...they performed worse. Very happy with class 4. I got it on ebay for 23€ by the way, too expensive in the shops.
it depend on brand also. scandisk class 4 higher speed than other brand with the same class.

Whatever you do don't use Sony Media Go to transfer music ... it keeps duplicating songs on my SD and screwing other stuff up...I've given up on it for now. Songbird does a good job.

No I believe the phone officially supports only up to 32GB...beyond that is risky.

I will buy one if I have money
Using a Transcend 32gb MicroSDHC Class 10.
Works flawlessly and surprisingly fast (I've never had a class 10 before), though as with most, if not all, storage media, it becomes fragmented, thus I defrag once in a while..

1. Yes, max 32GB. Doesn't matter which type.
2. Yes.
Well true is normal micro sd have max 2gb microsdthc 4-32gb theses 2 formats are oficialy supported. Also few guys trying use sdxc (64gb and above) on multiple android device include xperia mini and when theses card are formated in phone on fat32 file system they just work but not with full speed. I see also from some1 sdxc need other votage and this use is risk. I try find this info later and maybe i test it self.

which memory card u guys are using?
Class 4 or class 10 ?
is class4 memory cards are compatible with galaxy s3?
10
jje
Using class 10 just because some cards struggle recording 1080p, but I still don't see that much improvement over my old Sandisk Ultra class 6.
Which is best 32GB memory card for Neo V..
n is the Phone fast with 32 GB card or getting Lagged??
i'm not getting any lag with my 8GB (class 4) card. 32GB will do good
Let me give you an advice.
To the best of my knowledge a 32 GB sd card will need more power to work which means it will draw more power.
Also it depends from whom are you gonna buy it?
Sandisk? (if it is sandisk then BUY IT)
Also at the store ask for its class.
Just something about classes.
A class 4 card IS always going to give you at least 4mb/s write speed.
Although this is not always true.. (i bough a Kingston class 4 16GB for 8.5 euro XD and it is working fine but it mostly runs with 3mb/s it is slow but it was the cheapest and bigger)
The higher the capacity of the sd the slower random read write speeds.
So if you are planing to move many apps on your sd i do not recommend anything class 10 like.
But if you mostly need it for gaming/music/movies then for CLASS 10
Oh and always but sd cards from the web they are way cheeper than from stores.
(my Kingston from a shop costs 16Euro -mostly like every card 1Gb=1euro)
Buy a card with a high speed class.
Take min. class 6 or class 10.
Buy a card from a well know manufacturer like kingston , San disk or Samsung.
I use a 16 gb Samsung class 10 and the write speed is fantastic. 12 mb/s.

The answe is yes and no.
What 32GB ?
A 32 gb class10 sandisk wont slow it down.
A 32GB CLASS 4 KINGSTON WILL SLOW IT DOWN
it depends on the cards class and company.
a kingston class 10 VS sandisk class 10
would lose sandisk creates very fast sd's
If you are willing to pay a lot of money then buy sandisk class 10
IT WILL BE EVEN FASTER THAN WHAT YOU HAVE.
It depends on everything!.
Also android doesnt use the full potentional of the sd card.
You will need to root your phone and use an sd booster app to unlock your cards MAX SPEEDS!
For 32gb class 10 is must. Otherwise video recording, playing HD videos etc will lag.
I use 8gb class 10.
toshiba 32gb class4 no lags so far
Exchange of files between the computer and the phone affects the importance of speed
Class 10 is a must. Im using imation 8gb card. Images and videos loads and saves faster cmpared to lower class.

I use this Samsung class10 32GB. http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/294822/samsung-microsdhc-32gb-class-10.html#tab:info
Previously used a transcend 16GB class4, the speed difference isn't that much, but you'll save a few minutes when making a CWM backup. (I went from 9 to 6 minutes).
But it was just €3 more than a class4 card, so worth the price.
My brother use Sandisk 32Gb class 4 for his MK16i (x.Pro)
Everything is working very well
