The overheat problem ...can it be solved ? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

hi all i wanted to buy the mini but after reading countess threads about mini's overheat issue it really made me doubt my decision ..even people that sent it to callibrate got the problem back ( according to SE forums ) it really scares me ..it feels like i am using a ticking time bomb ...so is this problem solvable ? or is it depends on the luck of the draw wether you get a overheat prone model or not ?

will it be solved if i flash a new rom and kernel ?

i found this
It seems cyttsp_fwloader has auto-calibration itself, so I poked the file and finally my phone is fixed now. Hopefully anyone who has the issue could use this method, too.
This script is written by GScript Lite, or maybe you could use this as a shell script. In both cases, you need a root access to run this script.
Code:
dev=/sys/devices/platform/spi_qsd.0/spi0.0
fw=touch_smultron_sony.hex
cyttsp_fwloader -dev $dev -fw /system/etc/firmware/$fw -verify_only
sleep 5
reboot -p
Your phone will shutdown by running this script, and after powering-on, your phone should be fixed.
Note (as usual): I don't have any responsible for this script, so use at your own risk!
but i don't know how to use it ... should i unlock BL first or after using this script ( if i know how to use it)

SE stopped manufacturing defective xperia mini, so 99.9% you will get a good phone, and 0.01% is when you buy from an old store

weoahh..now that's a sigh of relieve ...the retailer said he will get a stock on monday so chances are it won't be defectve right?

I had the problem and now it's gone forever. use the following instructions if needed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1387605&page=8
good luck.
E

kay will try it after i get my mini =)

it's really simple and easy to do it ..
important to root XM first
download and install GScript Lite from market
copy the code to notepad and save extension as .sh /
download the .sh that has already provide
put it in SD
run GScript an execute the code

okay ...in order to root .62 i need to flash custom kernel right?

well ..i use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386674
to root my FW.42 without unlocking the bootloader
i don't know that it works on FW.62 ..many says it doesn't work but some say it work ..
and i unlock bootloader with testpoint to keep my DRM keys

did you unlock bootloader?

i unlock the bootloader after i root
cause i'm board with stock kernels

have you even bought mini? if you get .62 FW just install .58 or .42 using wotanserver. besides, first thing is you wont get a faulty phone.

A question for the devs...

This question is related to the bootloader problem & the upcoming 2.1 update....Could SE change the way the bootloader works and negate the progress you've made?
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
since its not yet cracked ...i dont think SE will change the bootloader ...
i am not a dev .. this is what i think... but may be the new 2.1 needs a new bootlaoder ... so anything can happen .. but dev are keeping an eye on SE will loads its stock rom.. that way we can find ways to use to crack bootloader
I hope i can borrow this thread ...
Here's my question: Is there a way to delete certain games and programs that i don't and never will use without rooting my device? I like it the way it is right now, i just don't like that apps i'm not using wasting available space

I don't see how am i going to profit if i double the work. My question: "is it possible", was meant in this way: is there an app that allows doing this without rooting?
No, the default apps which came with the phone are located in a place which you can only reach when you have root access

One click root method, you literally have to install the .apk then click root. After you remove the programs you don't want, then click unroot. Doesn't get much easier than that
IS this one click method universal or specific from phone to phone? i am asking for my X8. There isn't a thread about this phone yet and because it is part of the same model group i'm asking here.
what?
What is horrible, the devs are days without saying anything about the breaking of the bootloader, we will do with the 10 x?, I begin to think that it is time to change by a HTC
you are the best, I encourage all devs, is that you can with this, I encourage and give them strong these of SE, thanks!

[Q] Should I reallly unlock this bootloader? (Sony Live Walkman)

Please, forgive if this post does not go here, sorry!!!
I have a Sony Live Walkman that I bought without any phone company in between. (Sorry my English doesn't help, don't know the exact term for that).
I checked, and it says that it is allowed to unlock bootloader.
But my question is, what is the benefit in my case? I don't have any garbage from any company loaded on my phone, the loader image is from Sony.
I can't grasp really well why is there the need to unlock bootloader. I'm new to Sony, I just had a LG - and the only concern was to ROOT and nothing else.
My Sony is rooted already. Do I need to unlock bootloader? (I'm just repeating myself a lot, lol) - and let's supossed I do unlock it: what happens? what new things I can/cannot do/break/etc?
Thanks a lot in advance for any info you could provide me, I learnt a lot in these last months, and with this Sony things are.... different....
Kisses
Unlocking bootloader lets you install custom kernels and ROMs. If you do it via official way, you lose your guarantee and your DRM keys, that means you will not be able to use TrackID and some other little features. If you patch it via unofficial way (test point method) you lose nothing. Anyway, if you don't intend to change your ROM, don't unlock it
Sorry that I'm a bit slow , but what is the "unofficial way" to do it?
I don't plan to install any custom ROM, but would like to try some new Kernel - and I believe I have to unlock bootloader for that?
I managed to root without unlock it, I wish I could flash a new kernel the same way
Unfortunately, you can't flash custom kernels without unlocking the bootloader. Check THIS thread, you'll find useful information
Well the unofficial way will allow you to keep your drm information and you will be able to keep using the track id app. here is a video of the method you need to follow to unlock it the unofficial way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgYAZoqsk9E, the video it's from fast gsm but it is the basic procedure of the test point method the only difference it's the software you will use and of course that it is free.
Thanks guys, very useful info. Just one last thing, cause one of your responses confused me:
The official method will let me flash Kernel
the UN official method won't
is that right?
Thanks again, promise I'll read all those articles now.
any method will let you flash a custom kernel the only difference is that using the official method you will lose your drm (digital rights management) for protected music, the usage of the track id app and any way of officially update your phone (over the air, ppc or sus) and using the unofficial way (test point method) you will keep the drm, track id and you will be able to update your phone using ppc or sus.

Perfectly welcome!
Well, I been finally reading about this unlocking booloader stuff.
The so called " via unofficial way (test point method)" looks very complicated, like I could really break something. I mean, wires? Needles?
I think I will go for the official way., even if i don't like the idea.
Did official method also.
It is much more simple, just on the computer.
You will loose the track id feature, never used it anyway.

Oh well, I may be a bit slow - but couldn't do it. Any method.
The test one, I tried, but could understand the dynamics with the program, and got lost.
Te official one, couldn't follow the instruccione given on the Sony site. All those commands (fastload.exe bla bla bla) didn't work, and the Pc never asked for any driver.
I only hope someone could upload a guide step by step, that would be wonderful.

The trick is to use a hair dryer to take out the back stick (under the battery) and then you will find the tp I posted a video before.

Total noob in regards to Sony and customizing

I'm not sure where to start in regards to Sony.
I myself have a Galaxy S2 and read the Bible there and got great advice/suggestions in the forums, but the Sony bit has me confused.
I have an old Xperia X10a sitting collecting dust (it's about 2-3 years old now) and since a relative wants to get a smartphone and an Android more specifically, I thought this would be perfect for her, in case she were to mishandle it or lose it.
So first, I have to unlock the phone.
Then what I'm confused about is this so called "bootloader", is this something I need to worry about or not?
So unlock phone, then, what?
Thanks in advance.
Meant to put this in Q&A, sorry Mods.

You don't need to unlock the bootloader. just follow this thread that root it, install the Xrecovery(0.3) and flash donutHD 2.2.9 and you never have to worry about anything else. Or and unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with sim unlocking to work on different network.
So tell me how it went and ask any questions.

Lol flashing is hard for this phone e compared to others. Half the time the kernels don't flash because there's only two files in it instead of a lot for the loader.bin. like the othernight I flashed a kernal and wifi was broke and the phone was stuck sideways. Its different and I understand I'm in the same boat. Took me almost 13 hours to get this thing to stay rooted and unlocked. Used superoneclick to root and everything said I was except the flashtool lol.

All kernels that I tested was flashed with no problems. the .bin files aren't problem. All kernels which I had worked as they should. Wifi was not broken, and if it was broken, theres an update package to fix this, or you can ask in thread whats the problem that wifi is not running. ...... well sry man but I havent got problems with rooting or flashing. I think this phone is the easy task not the hard one.

I agree with harviak.. I had only one issue till now n that was when I was a complete noob and hadn't followed the steps correctly. I got it workin myself after that. So don't get scared of customizing.
Btw if ur cousin is on a different network and ur x10a is locked to a certain network then the bootloader has ntn to do with what u need. U need to remove the simlock. Look for an appropriate guide here on xda
And if u feel interested in putting in a custom ROM unlock ur bootloader (look for a thread called flashtool and check out the guides there)

[Q] How to root Omnirom kernel

Hello guys
b4 i tell my problem id like to apologize in case that this was already discussed or in case my knowledge of android aint yet "high" enough.
To understand me fully ill write the whole story that ive done on my mobile in the quote.
P/s: its for my 1st time having an android in my hands.. so all my knowledge gained was during yesterday and today.
Yesterday i received the S2 i9100M from canada with gingerbread and sim locked.
Later that day, after i done a little reasearch on forums.. i succeed to root and unblock it ( sim unblock) - used galaxy_s unlock
Cz my CWM was ver 4. i wasnt been able to install OmniROm (kitkat 4.4.2)
Today, i installed a jelly bean version, and install a CWM ver that fits kitkat ~ though i dont know reallly how it changed by it self to TWRP.
After this .. i installed omnirom and gapps (standard pack).
And here is now the problem, i can't unlock again the sim.
As far i understood.. though when turning on the mobile it gives me yellow triangle, that the kernel is not fully rooted (?) ~ also downloaded an application from market, dont remember the name.. but used the same one yeasterday to see if it was rooted or not.
But, IF i want to unlock sim.. i got to have it rooted so id have the possbility to run the superuser and the galaxy_s unlock application.
ps: also i deleted the files that were stored by galaxy_s unlock application, and that causes error in aplication even after reinstalling it. ~ however i hope this is gonna be fixed after flashing the rom again and wipe...
Click to collapse
So the question is : How to root the kernel which is installed by Omnirom ?
Sadly.. i didnt understand much about kernels.. so i ask you how to go through this problem with unlocking the sim..
Meanwhile.. id really like to stay on omni, cz i really like it ~ the simplicity, but in case that there is no chance to stay on it cz of the simcard.. im prepared to use other roms as well (but still preferably kitkat).
update
Heelllo again
since i had no ideas from you, i decided by my self to try instal cyanogenmod rom since it has the option of root. ~ instalation completed and root works as well.
But now.. the the biggest problem i have.. is cz i can't unlock the sim
tried Galaxy_s unlock from helzing(?) but it didnt work out.
tried .. galaxy S2 sim unlock and the app stops at 4/5 ~ the application seems its crashing
also tried one more application (dont remember the name) but it wants to pay 3 dollars to install pro version , while guaranteeing me that it has a code for me ~ and i doubt about this.
Any ideas ?
Ps: sorry in case i shouldnt post again here
Try *#06* in dailer, does that return your imei?

Hehe... i didn't =D
u gave me wrong code =D ~ *#06* , BUT its *#06#, thats the reason it gave me that error.
However, now i flashed to jelly bean, and now again to CM (damn kitkat is da best)
Tried again those 2 applications : Galaxy S unlock and Galaxy s2 simunlock
1st.. didn't work =(
2nd.. stopped working at 4/5 process
Is there any other way to do it for free ?

well today i installed this rom again, to see.. if i really was so sleepy and didn't see the rooting possibility.
well in anycase.. i didn't find it again. dunno, maybe i missed it somehow, but i doubt there is this chance.
In CM this option for root its easy to find, didn't have same luck/success with omnirom.
~~~
Meanwhile.. i was shocked when i used CM for a while.. just to try it... Battery had 80%, did a reboot and had only 20% -_-
Happend this to me more times, though not more such in big differences, and i can't tell the same to had it on omni.
~~~~
back to my problems...
after trying to get simunlock on : CM kitkat, Omnirom kitkat, Jellybean & Icecream, everytime had the same failure procedure, tried each for at least 3 times.. (i also mean that i totally wiped the system, install the rom, and try again)
in the end of the day, i tried to get on the stock ROM and it worked (gingerbread) ~ used Galaxy S unlock
Now the question is ...
How to install any newer ROM (preferably kitkat xD) w/o loosing the network access ? =D
Sorry if this had been already somewhere posted, haven't yet seen.

[Q] Xperia sola - Battery Drop problem

Hi, im a newbie on this forum so im sorry if im making any mistake. I have xperia sola from September 2012. it was working well untill almost a year back. Check this
I'm having same problem since then , maybe because of overcharging or maybe because I had some battery monitoring apps installed. so from a year or so my phone cant stay up for more than 10mins and im living through it, at first i had no idea how to fix it but when i checked sony forum i got to know it can be repaired by SUS/SOny pc companion. I know all the steps about installing ics because i have done it by myself after buying this phone.but now i cant because i have slow internet it will take forever to download it and there is no Sony service center in my city. I searched about cyanogenmod and I really feel like trying it on my phone but im scared because I haven't played with the ROM thing ever so i may brick the phone and then blame the developers. I can download all the files required for cyanogenmod overnight on my phone and transfer them to laptop and do the further steps. but the problem is , what if my phone turns off during installation process? will it get bricked? and will it even solve the battery issue?
ok i cant post links over here i was just posting sony forum's thread.my phone's battery has problems it drops from 100% to 0% from 90% to 0% , just at any point, i cant use my phone without charger being plugged in

I see. So are you on official stock ICS right now? or not yet? I don't get how you need to install ics by yourself, as aren't xperia sola's shipped with ics installed already? Anyways, try one of the ff:
A. Recalibrate your battery stats (search a battery calibrate app in the play store. I think it requires root.)
B. Try a new battery
C. If you can, try doing a factory reset to see if it's an app's fault or a system service or something. Or maybe try removing apps that keep running in the background. I don't think flashing cyanogen will help much if in your stock rom the problem already exists.
D. Or if it's not a software problem or a battery problem, then maybe it's a phone hardware problem. I had a neo V that had a short. So battery life was cut. battery always gets eaten, even when I turn the phone off! Maybe you could try going to a cellphone repair store not necessarily a sony center if your warranty period is already over
Hope this helps

There's is absolutely no risk in the process of rooting. It's what you do after rooting. You can also try eroot or shume root genius. I believe it can work with xperia sola too. Go do it!!

If you can't download, tell the OP. Or, there are lots of ways to root! Search google for shuame root genius, or eroot here in xda by nabeel.

i tried eroot but it didn't work on my xperia sola build number 6.1.1.B.1.54 , neither binary's method worked.
should i try another method? flashing 6.1.1.B.1.10 > using binary's app > flashing 6.1.1.B.1.54 again
but from where should i download flashtool? ive never done this before

Yup! That's quite common and guides for that are easy to find.
Also, before you do the kernel change, have you tried http://www.shuame.com/en/root/ ?
Btw for eroot, shuame, flash tool, and binary's root app to work, drivers are needed.
For drivers, you can find a driver installer within flash tool. Or you could use the drivers provided by sony pc companion. So don't expect any of them to work if you haven't installed working drivers.

any one should work. only can tell, by trial and error.
So your options and fallbacks:
1. your link from sony's website (it says for GB... you're on ICS already right? idrk if this one should work well)
2. sony pc companion provided drivers (recommmended IMO)
3. shuame root genius provided drivers (you should try the others first and this is your last resort)
4. flashtool provided drivers (I also recommend this)
5. PdaNet (really really last resort. not that' it's bad or anything. I just like sticking to officially provided drivers for starters)

I've run out of ideas now.. Maybe flashing a different baseband may help. Note this is a blind guess.. I dont know if it will help or not. I just know baseband does affect battery life. I have never done this myself so I don't know how risky it can be

aww you have already helped me alot. i think reinstalling the official stock rom is the last solution, i wasnt able to do it till now because there is no way to download it on phone, ill need to download it on my laptop which can take up a whole day, i have slow internet :/ but today i found this
http://d-h.st/wg1
on divaksh's post, so should i download it on my phone and transfer it to my laptop and flash it via flashtool, will it work? and it's the official stock rom right? i can just put it on download and sleep, it will be ready by the time i get up, see this thread by nabeel he also recommends to install fresh ROM

Just be sure that the Rom you are about to download is legitimately stock Rom. As I don't know where you got that download link. I am not from the sola forum so I don't recognize the username
It is best to download from a laptop/desktop as phone download managers often make uncommon file types into unusable files. U could go to a computer shop or try downloading it from a friend's house. Then flash it yourself on your laptop
