Hi guys,
I was testing the rom slimGen 1.4 v20 ..., before I change my BB to new v20 using LGMDP.
So I flashed the rom slimGen 1.4 v20 ... start OK ... work fine.. nice.
But, When I was trying install some apps from market or using local .apks, I receive message of incompatibilities, and cant install...
some apps like: Viber, Tweetdeck, and others.
So, I back to v10 BB, and re-flashed slimGen 1.3 v10 ... I tested and work normally again...
Anyone know why this happened?
Thx.
I've noticed that when I flash a certain kernel, my phone somehow loses compatibility with some apps. And I know for a fact that slimgen 1.3 uses a different kernel than slimgen 1.4. Try flashing slimgen 1.4 again, but switch to another kernel (something other than franco's kernel, because that is the kernel that gives me issues with compatibility). I don't know if this works, but it doesn't hurt to try
Yup I also had some apps like lane splitter, shine runner, etc. when I flashed the new bb I lost compatibility with those apps

Anyone know what the best kernel is for a Stock 2.2.1 ROM?
der cavermans v3 as far as i know.
havent tried the franco kernel yet.
Franco's is alright but if you want to see any real difference I suggest flashing a custom ROM cause the stock ROM just sucks and from what I have read and seen videos on YouTube for official LG gingerbread update is just as bad

I would, except the few Custom ROMs I have tried, I don't get Data for some reason. Only the Stock ROM allows me to use data.
u have to enter the apn settings in access point names, which ull find in the current stock rom.
note it down.
type it down in custom roms.
it will work then on.
I have used Mik's kernel with V10B and everything works fine ... including data ... try it ... PM if you need help
I'm currently using Franco Kernel 11 + Extra Tweaks, seems to be running well.
link for caveman 3 please

Hello, I'm having something quite annoying with my Atrix 4G.
The problem is that sometimes when I'm playing any Tegra powered game, the phone restarts all alone, it's totally random, it can happen loading a game, sometimes while I'm playing, and sometimes it just don't happen.
I'm worried about this. This mean my Nvidia chipset is broken or it's just something driver/soft related?
How can I fix this?
Regards.
PS: It happened with my official firmware and now with CM7 too.
Quick question---what kernel are you using? Are you using Faux's kernels with both ROMS, and undervolting either? Have you used the v6 supercharger / converted any partitions to ext4?

I have no idea what I'm using, I just see that crash and erase my official firmware and install CM7. I have some android basic knowledge, which no include any kernel subjetcs, I just know how to install ROMs and stuff, but I'm a quick learner.
If you guide me about some possible error it may have I could fix it.
Thanks for your quick response.
I would suggest re-flashing your ROM maybe it's just a bad flash. On the other hand you can just go ahead and flash one of faux123 cm7 kernels and see which one works best for you even the O.C ones you can downclock i notice that issue with kernels mostly.
So Im trying to OC my Evo to play n64oid(yessss)
and Im flashing the Silverneedle kernel using Kernel Manager Lite and it hangs on the Flashing Kernel screen. The wheel just keeps turning,am I doing something wrong?I've waited over 5 minutes and it still hasn't completed,am I just impatient or what?lolI've backed up the stock ROM,do I need to change my ROM?
Please help I really need to get N64oid working as thats one of the bigger reasons why Im keeping this phone, the 1.2ghz CPU is just too tempting to not OC and N64oid lags currently, but some people have it playing perfectly on there Evo3d's?I did a kill on all unnecessary apps and it still lags, idk but I need my n64 games
I don't think that kernel plays well on the latest 2.17 build.

Ah which one would you suggest then?
Keep in mind I must be able to OC
OK good news:I sucessfully flashed a Antrhrax Kernel
Bad news:Wont let me OC or install another one.
Kernel manager just keeps going back to the list of roms after I attempt it,what gives?

If you are wanting to run oc you will need to find a kernel that is built to run on the current software your phone is on.. Such are you 2.17 or 2.08? Are you rooted running a stock rom ?
Hey guyz...
I just rooted my s5 2.3.3 407 olleh rom
Now I am wondering what all I can do with it...
Can any1 suggest me some nice tweaks or apps..
Also can any one tell me how can I overclock... Cuz setcpu has the highest limit to 998 ........ How can it be 1500 or something like that

Root is the most powerful aspect to being able to get the most from any device.
It unlocks access to the root of the filesystem, so you can change almost anything. Also root is essential to get more functionality from your device, a lot of software requires root access to work.
In your case, try a new kernel, i am sure you will be able to overclock using Pheonix kernel for example.
To be honest, why not install a custom rom?
Everything is done for you, and kept up to date with bug fixes.
If you like the rom you have, my recommendation is the DSC rom as it is an excellent rom.

M planning to flash dsc on my stock rom
With stock kernel
Will my fone b able to overclock then or I still have to flash different kernel.?

If you want to be able to overclock and undervolt the processor, you need to install the Phoenix kernel as the stock Gingerbread kernel does not support either operation. You WANT to install the Phoenix kernel anyway as it has fixes above and beyond overclocking that aren't found in the 407 kernel. If you're coming from Froyo (Android 2.2.x), you cannot use a Froyo kernel with a Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x) ROM, unless of course you want to render the device unusable until corrected.
I had stock froyo
Then I updated my rom to official olleh one...without changing the kernel
Nd its working cool

When you change ROMs using official Dell packages, all the components are supposed to be updated to match the ROM. This is to minimize incompatibility. Therefore, when you upgraded to 407, the baseband, recovery, and the kernel should have been upgraded at the same time as the ROM itself.
In this case, you happen to be one of those for whom the kernel wasn't upgraded. And while the Froyo kernel on Gingerbread seems to work, the combination cannot be as stable or as functional as having a Gingerbread kernel with a Gingerbread ROM. The point however should be moot now as you've installed either DSC or Traveller DSC, both of which have the Phoenix kernel.
yeah now my streak has dsc
with pheonix kernel

I am still learning here, a newbie. Please apologize me for my lack of knowledge.
When I first started, I read quite a number of forum until I got quite confused, but has opted a choice. After numerous attempt, I managed to flash my DS5 with Longhorn 2.9.3 using CWM. What I found out was my Baseband(BB is what they call it, am I correct?) was still 347, which later I read somewhere here, I need to have BB407 instead. Was struggling to get 407 installed, but finally manage a solution.
But I still have not really understood what refers to a Kernal, and a Baseband. What they use for, etc...
Can someone please help to explain. Thanks.
My DS5 About phone look like this now. I am wondering if the part, second from below on the picture, is a problem = "MOD VERSION : UNKNOWN:
Can anyone comment on that? Thanks.
And also, I still can't overclock my DS5 using this ROM, max still at 998. I have tried SetCPU and Antutu CPU Master, and I read many forums to find out how, but none seems to work. Have I missed a step on installation or...? Can anyone help on this? Thanks.
BTW, I might decide to try DSCv2.3 (perhaps starts off with DSCv1.0, before upgrading) or Streak MIUI 2.4.20.
Any advice on those? Thanks.

The search engine is your friend. Learn how to use it please. In the meantime, I recommend either DSC or Traveller DSC. Read the instructions in the first posts of each thread and you should be good.
Thanks you for the encouragement, suggestions and instruction.
use dsc 2.3
it has rooted rom with phoenix kernel wilhich would allow you to overclock your device using any app

So i am trying a lot of roms and kernels lately due to some issues i got that i posted in another threat. And after i flashed a nightelf exp kernel, my play store was missing. I tried flashing stock GB rom .62 (with kernel) and everything was fine. But when i flashed nightelf kernel again now my play store AND my dialer apps are missing. When i flash the rom i want (Gin2Jellybean) they are still missing.
What should I do?
PS: even if i flash the gapps zip all gapps appears except for play store. And i already tried adb pushing too...
Just tried with Lupus GB kernel and now the vending.apk and dialer didn't gone missing. Could that be any kind of incompatbility between nightelf kernel and stock .62? It's strange because i think i already did that before...
I don't know what's the problem, but if you plan to use Gin2JellyBean, you can just use the Stock kernel. It works really really well. No lags and battery life is good.
It's a good idea, but i'll miss the OC, and 2 way call recording from a custom kernel.
