Samsung Galaxy S running ICS 12
For some reason all my calls go straight to voice mail with no notification on the handset. This started in ICS version 11 so I upped to V12 and all was good, that is until I ran Titanium back up and restored my settings. I've reinstalled ICS 4 times now checking fewer and fewer items to be restored but it still happens.
I can't find the voice mail setting that would allow me to change this feature/bug so a heads up there would help. Just exactly which box to leave unchecked in Titanium would also be a great help.
Also, does changing to the GB boot loader change the boot time?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
Jon
My solution has been to only restore apps and manually configure the rest. It's a nuisance to have lost all my text history but that and contacts were the only thing I was trying to restore. Contacts are backed up to the sim card so no real loss. Once I have it dialed in, I'm going to make another back up. Don't really know what else to do.

Recently wiped and started from scratch on Warmrom due to a messed up backup and suddenly I'm unable to send or receive any MMS messages.
Out of pretty much nowhere, I'm suddenly getting "Download of message unsuccessful - Generic network failure" when I try to download picture messages and "Failed to send after multiple attempts - generic network failure" when I try to send.
I haven't installed anything that would mess with my APN settings or MMS settings in general.
I've tried multiple fixes including clearing the data for my phone's MMS app as well as checking my APN settings for errors and problems with APN Backup and Restore - I couldn't find anything way out of the ordinary. I've also tried PRL and profile updates multiple times from settings.
Any ideas?
Edit: Apparently the "proxy" was stuck on from when I was on WIFI. I thought I messed with it, but apparently the settings didn't stick properly. Re-edited them and rebooted and messages are at least coming in now, but I'm still getting the generic error when I try to send or receive MMS.
Edit2: Also tried wiping MMS settings via Titanium. No go.
Edit3: Just restored a backup I made a month ago, back when my MMS messages were working. Again, no go. No freaking idea what could be going on.

How would I go about updating my profile manually aside from "System update > Update Profile"?
I've already used that method. Is there another way to do it that is more likely to stick? I know there's a technique involving one of the hidden setup screens, is that what you're talking about?
Edit: Called Sprint, they said they reset remotely and then told me to hit ##3282# and reset my profile. I need to install that epst.apk that allows for the process, so I'll come back here if it works.
Ok weird. No matter what I do, I can't get the data menu to come up, even with alternate EPST. No freaking idea what is going on. Hopefully whatever the sprint rep did will fix it in time.
Final edit: Figured it out. Apparently it was just a series of unfortunate events that led to me having screwed up messaging. The newest nightly of Warm seems to have a problem getting to the data screen even with the old EPST.apk, so I had to revert back to a Nandroid I made early December, reset my profile from there, and upgrade to the current version again after that to get my text messages working properly again.
I have recently purchased a new i605, rooted, unlocked, and installed TWRP through Casual. And flashed CM10.2-20130827-Nightly-i605. I finally received my SIM cutter in the mail today, and pulled the full size Straight Talk SIM out of my Skyrocket that I have been using with no issues for almost 2 years, cut the SIM, put it in the Note 2, and entered the APN settings. It is receiving good signal, showing the "H" and "H+" the majority of the time. I can make voice calls, receive voice calls, send/receive MMS, and have good data sending and receiving. My only issue is, I can only receive SMS, and when I try to send (or reply to one already received) I get the "Message not sent" error. I saw a possible fix, of updating your SMSC, but I have no clue how to find what my SMSC is in order to input it, and haven't been able to find it either. I tried editing the way the telephone numbers are stored from +1 250-250-2500, to (250)250-2500, +12502502500, +1 (250)250-2500. I also saw where someone found a fix for their situation, where they had accidentally set Google Voice to send text messages. I went into the settings on my Voice app, and that setting was turned on, so I turned it off. But I am still having the same results when trying to send an SMS.
Does anyone have a clue as to how I can find what my SMSC is, so that I can try that fix for the issue?
Did I post this in the appropriate subsection of the Verizon Note 2 forum?
I'm in the exact same situation you are. Send/receive calls, receive texts but can't send texts. I received a new note 2 through insurance two days ago and did the same process of rooting the phone, except I flashed jedix17 on it. So I'm guessing the problem lies in the roms? I haven't had time to switch roms to see if that fixes it though. I'd like to see if there's an easier alternate solution as well.
Ok, I got to playing with the "fixes" I had already attempted, for a second time. Google Voice was set to send SMS, and I would change the setting in Voice to make the messaging app send SMS. Well, I noticed that after closing Voice, then going back to the settings in Voice, it would be set to Google Voice sending SMS again. So I Force Closed the Voice app, and uninstalled it, and the issue cleared up. I have no idea why the app would be automatically changing it's own settings back, after closing it though.
I see. Then it seems you and I don't have the same root problem. I don't have an alternative texting app, so I guess I'm off to reflash my rom.

Did you figure out your issue? If you flashed Gapps, you may have Voice+. Check in your app drawer just to make sure.
Yeah I have fixed it Thanks for asking (and yeah I did check and I did not have voice). Reflashing the rom did indeed work
When I upgraded my M7 I restored from my TiBu due to some important old messages and I think I selected to restore app/data instead of just data and it appears to have borked my app - person calls, I get missed call notification but no indicator that a vmail was left and nothing new appears in the app.
I guess it restored back to T.5.3.4.42 which is old from M7....got the latest T.6.0.1.15 APK from @OMJ (many thanks), installed and it went thru like it was a normal upgrade from the old app but I'm still not getting either notifications or messages showing up in the app.
I was on chat with Sprint they had me update profile, reprovisioned on their end, had me check numerous settings and nothing. Asked if I'd do a factory reset and I laughed.
Any ideas are welcome.
Whatever Sprint did behind the scenes finally took. got a call, declined it, went to vmail and then all the vmail tests from yesterday and this one showed up.
Mod please close thread.
Suddenly, my phone has decided to block ALL calls, even from my favorite contacts and voicemail. I just cannot receive incoming calls. The notification shows "Missed call from (blocked) [contact name or phone number]." The [contact name or phone number] part shows the name of the contact or phone number that is being blocked.
EDIT: Outgoing calls work just fine.
I have disabled blocked/black lists on the phone app, removed any restrictions from Hangouts/Voice and any other apps that interfere with the phone functions. I have restarted the phone and restored the phone app from Titanium. I have frozen/uninstalled any third party apps that provide calling/texting functions, such as voice, hangouts, talkatone, etc. I have even cleared cache and removed default app options from phone/contacts.
This problem suddenly started and I just cannot figure out what may be causing this problem. When I search online, it shows listings of apps that block calls, etc., but nothing that addresses my problem.
I am an advanced user - I have root on my current phone (Galaxy s3 with 4.4.2), and have installed custom roms on previous phones (an old Charge, s2, S3), etc. I am not a newbie, so, PLEASE answer my issue without condescension - THANK YOU.
I do not want to factory reset my phone - any ideas about what might be causing this problem and how to resolve it?
Phone info: Galaxy s3 with 4.4.2, rooted, on Verizon (I535).
Thanks.
Verizon tier 2 tech not helping
Tier 2 tech hasn't helped at all!
My only thought would be that what ever file that handled blocked calls got corrupted, and it wasn't removed when you uninstalled it. The only thing that might help is reflashing the rom. Now I never advise a dirty flash due to issues that can come of it but as you don't want to factory reset then it might be an option.
As you are not a noob my suggestion would be to format just the system partition, and reflash. Or you could just reflash. Either way is not 100%
Verizon thinks it might be a SIM card problem. So, I'll replace it and see how that works. If not, a bloody re-flash it will be.
Any other ideas in the meantime?
Thanks.
Hey all,
I purchased this phone off Amazon about 6 weeks ago and instantly feel in love with it. And this was right before they announced that Sony would be selling these phones in local retailers in the US.
I've noticed for the last few weeks now, however, that some texts are coming in multiple times. It can range from 3-7 times that I receive the same text, and you can imagine how annoying that'd be. Sometimes, when I send a text to someone, I'll receive a duplicate of the previous text I got from whoever last texted me. Sometimes, I won't receive a text until much later- up to hours later. To top it off, sometimes MMS or group texts won't come through without prompting me to download the text. It wasn't bad at first, as it would happen sparingly, but now it's constant.
I've tried many options, from
- switching and updating/downgrading texting apps (Hangouts, Messenger, Stock texting app)
- editing and switching APN settings
- clearing my phone's cache.
To give some context, I transferred over my data from my Moto X 2013 and moved everything to my SD card the next day after transferring everything. The phone is not rooted. I'm also on AT&T but haven't contacted them about the issues yet (I would rather avoid hours of basic troubleshooting, unless they can actually fix it).
I'd really like to not have to lose all my text messages, and I shouldn't have to. Has anyone else had a similar problem and managed to fix it? What other routes should I try? If factory reset is the only option, what's the best way to back up and restore all my data (contacts, photos, texts)?

are you using the stock texting app? I had these issues when I tried to use a 3rd party messenger a very long time ago. other than that Ive not had this issue.
also maybe check out your system time, something might be up with your towers in the area. I use clocksync as cricket had issues a few months back and I fell in love with the app.

Thanks for the reply,
I use Hangouts as my default texting app. The week that I used the Stock Texting app, I still received duplicates and delayed texts, so I switched back to an interface that I enjoyed more. (Also, the Stock texting app is sometimes really slow when opening conversations)
My system time is on point, but I went ahead and turned off automatic sync for the time and dates.
What settings do you use for Clocksync, and did it fix any texting issues? I just now installed it.
Update to Marshmallow. See if that fixes the problem

Come to think of it google talk is what I was using when I was having those issues haha. probably not related but its something to keep in mind.
i use 1 hour intervals only when awake. idk if you need to be rooted or not for it to work.
There may be a problem with your sim card. Had this a while ago on another phone. Got the sim card replaced and it was gone
A few days later and I have some updates:
1. Have yet to change out my sim card. I will be going to ATT tomorrow to see if that fixes the issue.
2. Marshmallow update is not yet available. However, if I read it right, won't it disable using an external sd card? I wouldn't want to be rid of that feature, it was a big selling point for me.
3. I switched to the stock text message app, and it seemed to work well. It stopped duplicated texts from happening, but some MMS texts don't come through to me at all, and if they do they appear much later. Some texts I receive don't come in until about at least an hour after the contact sent it. Sometimes even 7 hours. Not to mention, the app itself is terribly slow.
4. I tried to switch back to Hangouts for a day after downgrading the app and using the stock texting app, but still had the existing issues from before.
5. Clocksync hasn't done anything for me.
Double Post,
Update:
It appears that getting a new SIM card did the trick after all. Went to the store on Saturday, days ago, and the texts don't appear to be duplicating and they seem to be showing up on time. I'm even back on Hangouts again. Yay!
You just need the patience to deal with how busy the store may be.
If anything changes, I'll let y'all know.
