i'm really, really enjoying this tf201+dock. the battery life is sick. the cpu is a beast that hauls on exynos 4210, and that was the hottest ARM SoC ever. it's running the best android software available for a tablet right now, which is seriously underrated. it's the best dedicated gmail and gtalk clients available, it's got one of the fastest and most compliant mobile browsers for any tablet. it's easily rootable. and holy crap did i mention it has a real keyboard.
so yeah, this will get pried out of my dead hands, or tossed whenever the real transformer comes out.. whichever comes first. i can't wait to ditch this if the real deal ever actually hits, because this one is just the cheap gobot knockoff of what a dockable android tablet should be.
how is it a knockoff? go look at the exacto thread, or the vulcan pinch poll, or any of the numerous "none of this crap works, is that normal?" threads we enjoyed for the first 6 weeks of the tf201s release. these units are stitched together like the $40 "louis vuitton" bags sold on lexington avenue with upside-down "L"s.
i'm "lucky" because my unit doesn't have the big problems, but even a "perfect" tf201 is a near-constant reminder of what this product would be if it was made by the right company. i noticed one of the reviews posted here made the point that "the ipad2 wins in having better power and volume buttons". who the hell cares about power buttons? what matters is tegra3, right? well, it turns out that the power and volume buttons on the tf201 suck. they're hard to feel for, hard to press. and then you realize there is no "wake up" key on the keyboard. (please, someone make my day and tell me a secret key combo to wake up the tablet screen.) but there isn't, so you find yourself looking for that little power nub over, and over again, until asus punishes you into knowing intimately how bad of a power button you have and f*ck you for buying it.
and i think it all really just boils down to this being asus, a company with an already long history of ripping off other taiwanese manufacturers (hello, gigabyte) and trying to differentiate by dressing it up with lipstick and trademarked BIOS features. i bet asus engineers were saddened when they learned there was no centerpiece HEATSINK to decorate on the tf201. asus does not slave over the perfection of products and release them with an id-style, "when it's done" pomp. asus hammers out products like M&Ms, spraying the public with buckshot and knowing that some will hit. there is literally zero history of any fundamental innovation coming from this company until the tf101. the first detachable/dockable android tablet with battery in dock. how did that happen? because lenovo is making theirs after, not before asus. was it an accident? mistake?
now imagine a world where transformers the toys, the tv show, the awesome 80s movie with that weird-al yankovic song, all of it never existed. and then along came GOBOTS. well, they'd be pretty cool. and you'd play with them. until the real transformers came out, and optimus prime's head transformed into another robot that punched leader-1 in the face.

Uncheck MobileDock Battery saving mode in Asus Customized settings
This will drain more power when asleep though
The Transformer Prime is more of a Megazord.
Ahh, another hater. There are plenty of web-sites for you to sell your gobot and buy an iPad.
There is a unlock button on the keyboard dock atard.
Really, what would that button on the top right do?

the top right button puts the tablet to sleep (and locks it if you use a lock). that's why that picture of the lock is closed.
for keyboard wakeup it appears there are two modes: either none of the keys wake it up, or all of the keys wake it up. as a previous commenter mentioned this is defined by the "MobileDock battery saving mode" setting, which you obviously have enabled as this allowed you to rationalize that a closed padlock means "unlock".
there isn't much reason why asus couldn't have made an unlock key, or at least not a very good one. the dock has its own battery. a key could have been wired to turn on its power while in battery save mode, just like every laptop ever.
i hate to troll but....
you dont like? Why dont you just try if it will blend then... ?
I typically refrain from contributing to pathetic rants and crybaby posts because ultimately all they want is the attention from these kinds of posts. And responding to their over indulged tantrum in either a logical response or sarcastic whip only results in an escalating flaming contest. But I'm just sick of coming to this forum for useful information and only seeing another copy an paste complaint from one of the other hundred waisted space posts.
My TFP is the best f**KING super computer I have ever owned. combined with the dock, I can do things I never thought possible from an android OS. It has become my laptop allowing me remote access to the rest of my environment, my media center, my entry point to the digital world, a video phone for long distant family, and it functions in a hundred other ways that has improved my life. It's the damn swiss army knife of tablets.
For all who read this, I'm on XDA to better myself by learning how to use and improve the technology I own. I'm not hear to "listen" to you whine. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
Go somewhere else to have your pity-party. Leave XDA for useful contributors and those looking to learn.

it was satire. i actually really like my tf201. that's the first thing i said. it's the best tablet i've used, and it replaced my thinkpad with something less powerful but more useful.

Well, with Honeycomb that was indeed true, but with ICS I also could unlock my Prime with it?
When my Tablet is attached to the dock I lock it with the upper right key. To unlock it, I slide over the touchpad, screen goes on and then press the "lock"-key to get to my homescreen.
Battery saving Mode is on I guess, because waking it up with keys don't work.
I don't know, but is that your problem?

this is interesting because my touchpad definitely isn't waking up the tablet, with or without the battery saving mode enabled.
are you running HC or ICS? and out of curiosity, what is your MobileDock version in Settings > About tablet? mine is TF201-DOCK-0206.
@OP u just wasted precious time of my life of which I could never get back for this and I normally don't respond to BS posts, however sell your prime since u ain't man enough to handle, buy an ipad 2 or better yet a fijutsu tablet and then most importantly turn it gps on and go play in traffic in a major highway near u. Hmm. Which is worse? Those starting new threads to discuss issues already documented? Or those pretending that the hundreds (maybe thousands by now) of issue posts including three home page stickies from the manufacturer themselves don't exist because their Prime is purportedly "perfect?" So hard to decide.
No need for 6,000 more of these posts

So far I've only found one major flaw with the Evo3D
(Well, besides the WiFi issue, which isn't a design flaw, which is what I'm talking about here...)
Those damn capacitive buttons!
Don't get me wrong, they occasionally have their place. But damn! After a couple of weeks with the Evo3D I'm really annoyed with HTC... Why did they have to stick 4 capacitive buttons on the front? Why not use real buttons like on the Desire.
The one thing I hate about them (besides just liking the feel of real buttons) is that they're waaay to easy to activate. While it actually took a bit of pressure and effort to press a button on the Desire, on the Evo3D it's enough that you barely touch it, just scraping it against your hand if you're repositioning the phone, and BLAM! You're back in the home screen, which is really annoying if you're in the middle of a game!
Who's with me?!
Unfortunately, it seems as if it's a major trend not just with HTC but also with other manufacturers. The Galaxy S2 is the only flagship phone I can think of, that still has a regular button...
I loved the original evo because of its use of capacitive only buttons. It seemed like the o ly phone that ran with a completely flat, sexy screen. But with this one. I'm a little over it. But I get why they kept them. Its the evo line signature now.
But yes... They are WAY too sensitive. I feel the whole screen is more sensitive and I wish that was turned down a touch. But the capacitives are way more so!..
Welcome to the party!.
I heard that there is an app that can prolong the time it takes to active the touch sensitive buttons. Just cen't recall the name on top of my head.
I cant believe the whingers in EVO3d forum, whinge, ***** and moan! and then praise the sgs2, its hilarious
I have all these devices being compared and let me tell you this, SGS2 has Capacitive buttons as well, hahahhahahaha.
I suppose if you love an iphone look-alike crap ass boring UI with a blatant form factor and home button ripoff sell your EVO3d and go buy one and stop moaning! SGS2 is a nice device but its spollt by Samsung's horid boring UI (including s**t PC syncing software), shocking cheap plastic feel and really bad home button that feels like pressing a nursery rhyme button my 4yr olds toy (Im not kidding)
The EVO3d is not only smooth and snappy it has a quality feel and is very nicely engineered, just becuase some clumsy fingers not used to other devices other than fruit phones!
Great party!

This is the general forum so give the guy a break. **** if you disagree with him state it. I'm glad i don't have any moderator/administrative rights on this site or i would be cleaning house on a lot of members. Ohh and just to stay relevant to the topic i have a love/hate towards the buttons myself. interested on hearing more about the delay app if anyone has any more info. thanks! Well i guess its time for me to stop typing and time for all the d-bags of the xda world to bash this comment.

Back on topic, I agree. there's just something about these buttons that are really over sensitive and i'm forever catching them when i don't mean to. There wasn't a problem when i had the sensation or the DHD on loan for a bit, but you'll get used to them after a while. I did, it just takes some time.

This is why I usually lurk..... Anyway, I agree that I often accidentally press home when playing games, especially when I am at a difficult point. I do think the capacitive buttons just look so good though. In the end, I would take capacitive buttons over physical, but I wish you could set certain apps to only exit if you double tap home.

Yeah, imagine that. Objective criticism of an inanimate object.. which is apparently grounds to insult the intelligence of a living person.
didn't know your penis was stuck in the Evo3D and the OP's thread caused you physical pain.
oh it didn't? yet you still felt the need to post and misspell something regarding his "coordination" (which is funny in and of itself seeing as though you were referring to "hand and eye coordination" which both is required, along with a 3rd grade understanding of the English language, to spell.)
The only thing that bothers me a tad about this phone is that in a dark room, my led lights bleed slightly at the bottom. Oh well.

chill out. you can't tell me that you aren't tired of useless threads about how much people hate sprint and their phone plans/phones. it gets old. i have accidentally hit one of the soft keys while texting MAYBE once, in the 2 months i have had the phone. again, once, out of the thousands of texts i have sent in that time, and hundreds of times playing some random game or performing some random task.
seriously, hand-eye COORDINATION, something else we learned... in kindergarden.
Just learn to hold your phone properly and it's not a problem.
A couple of my friends recently got EVO 3Ds, and they had the same complaints. I watched them use their phones, and they tend to hold the phone with their thumb across the bottom edge, A slight movement up and they accidentally touch one of the capacitive buttons. Interestingly, these are the same friends complaining that even the hardware buttons are too sensitive (which I only agree with regarding the volume rocker).
Neither myself nor my wife have this problem as we hold our phone with our finger around the back. Now I'm not trying to be Steve Jobs here and say "you're holding it wrong", but you simply need to be aware that the entirety of the front of the device is touch sensitive and take that into account in how you handle the device.
From the looks of it, future Android devices won't even have any buttons of any sort on the front of the device, and will truly be all screen.

Can anyone enlighten me on the performance of the screen digitizer.
I have been testing several note taking applications on my TFP. Although I have lousy handwriting the TFP makes it even worse. At first I blamed myself and the rather clumsy big tipped stylus and to improve the results I downloaded Touchscreen Tuner. A nice application but minimal improvement.
Then I also noticed it is impossible to draw accurate on the TFP.
A straight horizontal or vertical line is possible but when you try to draw a straight diagonal line it becomes a wave line. Now I really got worried. Maybe my drinking habits had given me this unsteady hand. So I got out a ruler and drew a diagonal line along it. I was relieved that I could continue drinking but what a shock to see the result. Again the diagonal line turned out as a wave line. (See the screen shot)
It turns out the grid of the digitizer is much too widely spaced. I estimate the distance between grid points at about 5 millimeters. And apparently the algorithm to interpolate between the grid points is so insufficient that a contact on the digitizer between two grid points is regarded as a contact with the nearest grid point. The algorithm doesn’t calculate a point in between.
Another way to see this is when you pick up an icon on the home screen and slowly drag it diagonally across the screen. It will not follow your finger or stylus smoothly but it will sway from left to right and stay behind a bit and then catch up again.
A big plus for the TFP for me was the possibility to accurately draw and take notes while working in the field.
As it is advertized and showed by Asus in promotional videos.
That is also what the Notes application was designed for.
Again I am afraid that Asus has (next to GPS, Wifi/BT issues, performance and screen faults) promised us to much goodies to be true.
Does anyone have a solution to this shortcoming or maybe can test if they can reproduce my findings. Maybe it is a malfunction in my TFP.
Please let me know your solutions or findings.
By the way. I also tested a HTC Sensation, a HTC HD and an Ipad 2. On these devices it is perfectly possible to draw a perfectly straight diagonal line.
Seems the behavior is the same on my TFP, except that I tried drawing the diagonal with my finger and it came out a lot straighter than your screenshot. Not nearly as straight as horizontal and vertical lines though, but less waves that what you're showing.
I used a Belkin stylus.
To draw the line I used the edge of a magazin.
I tried to apply equal presure and speed while drawing.
The issue is best seen in a diagonal line under 45 degrees.
There is an app on the market to tune the touchscreen for this and Galaxy Tab, it helps a ton. Touchscreen Tune I think its called.
It is $5 though but with the app, good freewriting application and a decent pen, handwriting is a lot easier.

It largely depends on the speed you draw it. If you go really fast its pretty straight. Go really slow and its wavy as hell
Maybe I am drunk....
The finer the stylus the wavier the line. Used my finger, no waves.
Use the application mentioned above....
I had a jot pro with a similar problem, except my writing varied greatly based on pressure. If I pressed down hard enough it would write like you would expect, but otherwise it did some crazy stuff. Might just be that particular stylus though

I am not asking if people have proper handwriting.
I think the grid spacing is to wide.
But maybe it's my Prime.
Can you post a screenshot of a perfect diagonal line made in Supernote.
This is a well known and well documented issue. It is present on loads of devices. There have been a few threads about this already.

You are wrong on this. Touchscreen definitely has different chip in TF201 (Atmel)!
Also isn't your handwriting done while zoomed in?
So obviously you don't have a TF201.
And obviously the hardware (and also the screen) is totally different.
But if you are willing to help us out and explain to us what we are doing wrong we would be gratefull.
If not then i think you should get back to the TF101 forum.
It is of no use posting an image of what you can do on your TF101.
I can post multiple pictures of the complicated things I can do with pen and papier.
;-)
But that is not the reason why we bought a TF201.
I hope there is someone out there that can help.

What you are doing wrong is you're not adapting. You're trying to use it like pen and paper. When the tf101 first came out, there were many whiners who came to FDA whining that the tf doesn't feel like a laptop.
Imagine people trying to use pen and paper like chisel and hammer on stones. Or imagine people trying to use the desktop like a typewriter.
The jot on tf doesn't feel like pen on paper. Why? Because its not pen on paper. Adapt or move on. Imagine flying an airplane like driving a car. Complain about that.
Added by edit.
The point I was trying to make is this. Yeah, I zoom in when I write. So? It gives me the freedom to draw out more details than I can with pen on paper. I can also change colors at will. Don't have to carry around all the notebooks and stuff. It took me may be 2 note taking sessions to get use to it. I don't even think about it anymore. Stop trying to use this like pen and paper. Zoom in, do whatever you need to to adapt. Our ancestors adapted from chisel and hammer to pen and paper. And now you're trying to use a stylus on tablet like pen and paper? Why not complain that a car doesn't ride like a horse? Or a train doesn't ride like a horse pulled ferry?
Do what you need to to adapt. If you can't adapt, move on. No need to get stressed out by it.

And I can just print out the pdf of my notes whenever I want.

Your notes look good, would you mind giving some tips or maybe starting another thread with some tips on how to take notes using a stylus and what not. For example, are you writing in portrait mode or landscape? It looks like portrait but I don't know of that's due to formatting. Any tips would be appreciated. I'd like to be able to use mine for notes on occasion even though my livescribe pen handles notes just fine.

Found this on reddit/r/Android, might be pretty cool to try, and super cheap as well!
Basically you take any pen, stick a piece of paper in the tip, and wrap it with some anti electrostatic discharge plastic of sorts.

Seen it and tried it. Pretty lame, but that just may be me. The thing is, the digitiser on the Prime IS a piece of junk, sure the chip is great, but the actual capacitive layer is absolute junk.
I love my Prime, but my brother's iPad2 makes the Prime's touchscreen look like Fisher Price "my first tablet"
I have touchscreentune installed, which makes the screen actually usable, but I will look long and hard at specs when I eventually upgrade.

any data to back that up? or just your opinion?
Of course not, he just want's to jump on the band wagon
I have had my prime now for 2 weeks. This is after having borrowed a friends prime for nearly a month and a half. I have used both an iPad, and iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and the Eee Pad Slider with windows 7... The digitizer on this works fine. It is no different than anything else save for it's processor can actually handle the input speed and response of 10 separate data points, and the fact that he fails to address that the primes digitizer will handle all 10 touch points without a slowdown in data processing tells you he has no idea what he is talking about. Stop propagating bull**** to make you seem "cool" like the whiny *****es who's "GPS doesn't work" oh my god! Who cares? really. I get a 5 Sat lock on GPS test and so far, my random reboots stopped after .15. I had a single issue with HDMI out, then I swapped the cable and moved it to a different input on my TV (i.e. not the one that has been pulled on by my kids, and not the micro cable that came with the atrix) Seriously. I know some have had issues, but I have 7 people that I work with who have primes, both C1 and C2, 3 more that I talk to in my old unit who bought them as well, biggest complaint? Reboots before .15 ... I think it was a quad core issue with ICS, it wasn't ready and Asus rushed it. Stop complaining, and realize you are just regretful you spent 5 to 600 you didn't have at the time and now you want your money back.

I could say the very same to you. Everyone knows that the Primes digitiser is rubbish. You merely have to write something on it without using touchscreetune to see how awful it is.
I also have no issue with the money spent on my Prime as I didn't pay a penny for it, it was a gift, so get your facts straight before throwing around wild accusations of me being a "whiny *****" as you so eloquently put it.

OR
An apology
;-)
Will have to try that line out mostly use it as my Everyday web surfing, ebook , college and pr0n (until GF comes and I hit the home key fast)
Have no scratches on it and fully covered in protectors on screen and back so I consider it on loan and treat it carefully till the tf 700 comes out.
Anyway I can't even draw a straight diagonal line on paper... so my paper is broken too

Really...you're gonna compare a tfp to a pos ipad 2? I have an ipad 2 for my 4 year old and he says "its for babies."
I'm not really seeing this "can't draw a diagonal line" issue either. Firstly, I can say that I have never EVER had the need to draw a straight diagonal line. I'm not sure if you have some sort of odd diagonal line art or something.
But the inquisitive side of me took hold and I opened up supernote so I could make an annotation of a diagonal line. I drew a straight diagonal line. Which any imperfection in the diagonal line was 100% my fault as I said before, this was my first time even attempting to draw a diagonal line. So *scratches head* this argument is only valid if 1. You're beneath the age of 4 and need an ipad or 2. You have a fettish for diagonal lines. But I don't get it nor do I see a difference.
Oh and btw I typed this out on my tfp keyboard. So I looked at my son and wondered why the ipad doesn't come with a keyboard dock....then i remembered
Toddlers can't type
There was an entire thread about how crappy the Prime's touch screen is on the Apps forum. You actually need a separate app, Touchscreen Tune (and be rooted) to use a capacitive stylus for anything other than drawing huge letters. If you can compare the Prime (not gonna start a flame war by mentioning the ipad), just compare it with the original Transformer. I have both and the original Transformer is so, so much better for writing.
Nobody cares that it can track 10 fingers at once. We do care that I can't write smaller than 1 inch letters, or can't draw diagonal lines without it being wavy. Maybe you don't need to draw diagonal lines but as engineers, math majors, people who like to write in chinese or japanese, etc etc, all need straight diagonal lines.

Made this with my finger since I have no stylus available.
No enhancements here, just an Onscreen Screen protector:
The red lines have been drawn with the line tool, the black ones free hand.

Duhhh
The line created with the line tool has nothing to do with the digitizer. You just input a starting point and an end point and the prime calculates the image to show.
If you look at the freehand lines you see the wave patern.
Doesn't matter if you use a stylus or not. Actually with a stylus it gets worse.
Just take a book as a ruler and put it on the screen at 45 degrees. Then draw a line along the book (finger or stylus).
Wobbly lines ;-)

Mine is wobbly because i used my free hand to draw. But it seemed quite ok for freehand drawing because it looks like how i draw lines on paper too.
I don't know if this is allowed in this section, but I am specifically curious with a question regarding development of a calibration app for the s-pen. I'm wondering if this is something that devs *can* do, or if this is not possible (for whatever reason).
I really hope it is, and that we can get something going. I have to depress the nib on my s-pen more than I would like in order for it to register. It's not bad, but I would prefer it more sensitive such that just the weight of the pen itself was enough to register.
I believe such a calibraiton app is possible, because even though my pen takes a bit of depression to get it to register, I know it is "activated" by the phone well before it even touches the surface of the screen. I have seen times where the pen does not register actual "touches" or "clicks", yet does interact with the phone, which leads me to believe that the pen is actually recognized by the device at a bit of distance before touching, but doesn't actually "click" or actively perform like your finger until the nib is physically depressed beyond the calibration point.
If we could just change a setting that essentially says "this is where the nib zero point is", and change it to suit our needs, and our individual pens, that would be AWESOME. One other thought, though, is that it may not be possible to achieve what I'm thinking, if there is no "signal strength" (for lack of a better term) as the pen gets first recognized and then closer to the screen. If the pen is reporting "0 nib press" until it is actually physically depressed a bit, and the "signal strength" can't be used as another calibration factor to allow it to simulate touches and clicks when it's just "close enough", then maybe it's not possible after all? I'm thinking something can be done, but I guess I'm not 100% certain.
If you want to see what I'm talking about where your pen is recognized by the device, but doesn't "click" or anything, just let the screen timeout from not touching it (while it's on). When it first dims, to warn you that it's about to turn off, just hover your pen near, but don't touch the surface. You'll see that it wakes it back up. Yet I've never had my pen EVER "click" or interact with the device from this distance, and it ALWAYS requires the nib to be pressed.
This post is meant to serve as food for thought and proof that the sensitivity should be more than enough, but there is just some calibration setting that is prevent the pen from being more (or less) sensitive.
You post in this section if you are personally developing something.
And yes, I would also be interested in some sort of calibration tool. It's a shame Samsung didn't include one.

this definitely should've been posted in the q&a section or the general section, not here, this is the development section , please move or delete!
Sorry. I was hoping the detail of the pen activating when near the screen might be a light bulb to some devs who view this forum. Thought it was a relevant "development" detail, didn't want it to go overlooked in the general section.
Mods, please move the thread if appropriate.
I'm testing TouchScreenTune for the developer Vitalijus, and found that Da_G's OC kernel is missing KALLSYMS (TouchScreenTune requires it), i assume this means ATNT stock is also missing it.
I PMed Da_G to see he can plug it in, hopefully he can and our calibration problems will be solved.
From my understanding all that is needed is to set CONFIG_KALLSYMS=y CONFIG_KALLSYMS_ALL=y in the kernel.

Yes, many people are having this problem with the bottom(about .3mm) and right(about .01) side. They have not aligned the SPEN correctly to the borders of the screen.
Hopefully they fix this soon...
Hi,
I added in the requested KALLSYMs support.
If it can be determined that there is a fixed offset common among devices, this can be fixed at the kernel level.

I wrote this for a friend last night while I was drunk and figured you guys might appreciate it as well.
early thoughts of DNA:
I love holding this phone, even at its size. With a case its about as big as I'd go, and the case makes the volume rockers more accessible and tthe power button easier to find.
The port cover is a *****. Im contemplating pulling it out, i noticed that after pulling on it almost to the point of pulling it out has made it easier to close. Inductive charging is nice but I use my phone allot while it's plugged in so its tough.
Screen is beautiful, 5 inch is a sweet spot for me. Any bigger is too big, and while I can deal with smaller, I like this size. I threw a 1080p movie clip on it, and while it looks amazing, the difference between it and 720 on a screen of this size isn't exactly noticeable. The only sore spot with the screen is that since many widets are a lower res, they look extremely tiny on the DNA screen, though I've only seen this with Beautiful Widgets and photo previews within some 3rd party apps. (see screenshots).
I don't mind the physical buttons, though I'd rather have all 4 in lieu of three, the extra space the menu button takes up on screen in some apps is annoying. Holding down the home key brings up Google Search/Google Now which is a nice feature. The biggest drawback of android recently has been not having a fixed search button, I use it ALL the time especially with now with google now (no pun intended)
I've noticed for some reason it has trouble staying connected to my WiFi at home, but at work its fine. I read one other complaint about this. Also, a few times this morning, I got a PUK locked - contact your carrier message. a reboot fixed it and it hasn't happened since this morning. I blame it on network issues.
I can't comment much on battery life because I've been really using the phone, setting it up to my liking, but I at least haven't been disappointing. I think this will last. I previously used an S3 and a rezound w/xt battery. Im thinking this lies somewhere in the middle.
Having only 16gb of storage was a bit of a toughie for me as I tend to download allot of random crap. But I'm hoping now that I've embraced the cloud, that between Dropbox for large files, Google music for music, and g+ for photo storage, I'll be OK. I just wont be able to have all the huge games I had installed before.
Overall, although not enough time to post a proper review, I'm happy with this phone. I've always applauded HTC's design and build quality. Simple yet solid and this phone is the same. Great stuff.
Feel free to post any Q's.

I have to agree, so far I have no complaints on this phone. I have a problem with the gel case I bought from Verizon because of the power button hole at the top. It doesn't make much sense to me why they would cover up the volume rocker and not the power button. It just seems awkward to push into a hole to hit the power button. "that's what she said"...
Not to get off the subject but...
Where did you find that battery left widget in the photo that you posted? I NEED one of those. Sorry...
I have the same complaint about the gel case I bought from Verizon , so I took a wood nail file to the top part surrounding the power button and made it more flush ... Save for a minor discoloration it works swell now

JuicePlotter. It does alright, and works in conjuction with juicedefender (battery saver app).

Which weather widget is that?
Thanks for the review, echoes a lot of my feelings since picking up a DNA to test versus my Razr HD Maxx last week.

Beautiful Widgets weather widget w/ICS skin
I've also found it to be a pretty good phone. I came from a dinosaur Droid X and I'm pleased overall.
My main issues:
1. Like the OP, I hate the microUSB cover, but I realize that it's there to seal the device, so I can deal with it. Also, the port itself in reversed from what I'm used to (DNA pins face the front of the device, rather than the back).
2. I did the standard Netflix test by watching Hugo last night. It looked amazing. However, the Beats audio must have a noise gate enabled, so portions of the film where the background noise fell below a threshold became completely silent. It was really annoying, so I turned Beats off. On another positive note, the phone never got hot in 2 hours of near-continuous watching.
3. The volume buttons are very easy to inadvertently hit while holding the phone for video viewing.
4. Bloatware. This is by far the worst I've ever seen. I had 3 pages of apps before I even downloaded a single one of my own. Won't be a problem when we have custom roms, but WOW. And on a 16 GB non-expandable device, too.

You can disable the bloat, one great thing that was added in ics
Love this phone so far. If I had any beef at all, it'd be that the vibration motor isn't very strong. But that's a very minor beef. Also the center power button has taken some getting used to. Love the speed of this thing, especially the LTE here in Houston which is amazing! (hit 42 Mbps earlier!).

That's nice and all, but I really just want to get rid of it. With only 16 GB, I need all the space I can get. I saw some de-bloat scripts on other sites that I might try, but I wish they'd let us just uninstall the stuff and be done with it.

I haven;'t rooted yet to test it, but I have a feeling that clearing things out of system/app will not increase your /sdcard storage at all.

Problem is, when you remove that bloat, you are removing it from /system, freeing up space there, that you can't touch. I'm all for removing bloat, but you won't gain usable space.
dosmoney, what skin or theme are you running? I love the stock android with a hint of HTC look you have going on!
