I have a little problem. I want to give a hard reset to LG Optimus Sol which was initially blocked Vodafone and I unlocked it at a service to work with all networks. Can you tell me if I hard reset the phone will become locked again in Vodafone? I want to do this because the phone does not connect in data storage mode and the bluetooth does not work.
You can tell me if I hard reset will install all the default programs on the phone they had originally?
Or is another posibility to reinstall the factory software without being locked again in vodafone?
I searched the forums but some said that the phone will be locked again and others say that will remain unlocked.
Please I really need the help.
Please I need the help as soon as possible because I really need to use bluetooth when I'm driving.
I want to make hard reset right now but I'm affraid that the phone will become locked again.

A factory reset will only wipe data, it doesn't touch the system partition. This means that the system apps will remain the same. It won't reinstall any apps you've removed. You could do this just as easily by booting into recovery and wiping your caches and data. Reflashing your rom may also help. If the problem is in system and not data, wiping data won't help. I'd suggest a wipe and clean install, or perhaps a different rom.
Since all phone models are different and I'm not familiar with yours, I can't tell you whether or not a hard reset will lock the phone. I wouldn't think it would, but that's a question for Google or your device's specific Q&A forum. When searching be sure to search for your specific phone model since the answer can vary from phone to phone.

I searched on google but Optimus LG Soil is not yet introduced in the forums anly a few topics. There are no results about this phone in particular. And custom ROM is not yet developed for it.

Hello All,
I have decided to return the Atrix and possibly get the Inspire. My question is:
I have rooted and installed Adeo v0.1
Is there a reason I cannot simply unroot and do a master reset to return the phone or are there other steps I need to take?
Thanks in advance for any help and I am soory if this is posted somewhere here as I could not find it........
I know I cannot Master reset during the install of the Rom but have not seen anything about after completed?
you can perform the reset to wipe your personal data, however the options added by doing the rom adjustment will still remain.
At&t probably wont care, or realize to check and say "HEY this phone can reboot if you hit the power button"...
other then that, your fine, and from what ive been keeping up with in the dev forum, many have already returned, or sold doing just that.
so you are ok to do the factory reset, yes.
regards,
killster

A factory reset removes ANY data that is not 'pre-installed' by the rom.
Basically, its as if you just turned your phone on for the first time but instead of with the rom that came with the phone, it is with the rom you have installed.
You do not loose root because what actually is giving you root is code added to the kernel (hooks) and since the kernel is part of the system, it cannot be reverted to its original state, any changes made to the kernel will remain after a factory reset (Android at this time does not keep multiple backups of system files like Linux or Windows does - sometimes called shadow copies).
If your rom did NOT come with SuperUser pre-installed, you can simply redownload it from the market (if you were rooted).
One other thing, a factory reset also removes any cached data (davlik for example) as well. This is why it takes so long for the phone to boot after a factory reset or after installing a rom that does a wipe before installing (the phone has to rebuild the davlik cache when it reboots which takes some time).
If you are interested in specifically what a factory reset does and does not do, I recommend asking Google, its a very informative resource.
I'll just toss this out there; I got my phone a few days ago, and it was pretty sluggish on stock TW; adding ADW ex didn't help a lot, so I did a factory wipe reset yesterday, and it fixed things right up!
Did it to my wifes phone too, and it fixed a few little issues she was having too..I read some posts saying that it should almost be mandatory to do a factory wipe when you first get this phone, which i thought was weird, but, proved beneficial for both of our newly acquired Notes...
Absolutely, Android is alot like windows, it begins to just start performing badly. Typically, a simple reboot fixes things but one in awhile, a factory reset doesnt hurt.
So how do you do a factory reset????
just got this modded Atrix from a friend. i think it is unlocked, cause its now running a custom ROM (dont know what it is though). it's also rooted now. well i dont want to go on and mod this phone myself for now cause im still studying how to.
i want to do a factory reset, cause of the google account. i cant get to remove it's sync. when i try to press remove account it just says i need to do factory reset cause some apps still uses the account. question is, what will happen if i reset my phone? will it become locked again? or may unrooted?
sry for the noob question.
What rom is it running? Technically, a factory reset is just a soft reset that deletes user data etc., and doesn't unroot your phone.

honestly, i dont know what rom it has right now. any ideas how to identify? well does factory reset remove the unlocked status of the phone?
The boot animation could provide some hints as to what ROM is installed. Settings > About is a good place to look too. As for other questions, I think you need to do a LOT more reading and learning. You seem to be confused about several aspects of a phone that have absolutely nothing to do with each other. For example: factory reset, lock/unlock, root - none of those have anything to do with the other. Next, you keep saying "lock" or "unlock" but you don't specify WHICH lock/unlock (yes, there are several).
In short - you can do a factory reset without any worries, and then you should probably get on to reading about concepts and terminology of an Android phone (since a lot of this is actually not even Atrix-specific).

well i was talking about the unlocked bootloader dude, sorry for the noobness. haha. anyways i'm not that new to android phones. i've never done a factory reset before, that's why i've asked this silly questions. later i'll post my ROM. thanks for you reply sir.
All of the normal steps to moving to Ting don't work. I was told by their customer service that I would need to do a factory reset and put the phone back to OEM status in order to activate the phone on their service.
Roommate's phone that he got from one of his friends who had given him the phone already rooted and possibly a custom rom...not sure. I found "Gummy Settings" in the system settings so I think it is a custom rom. The fact that he already had it rooted means he has no idea what was used to root it or anything like that.
Can someone help guide me on what I need to do to get it back to a state that it can be setup for Ting?
I am totally lost at this point and I'm not sure if a factory reset on a custom rom would cause any permanent damage or not.

Rooted won't keep the phone from activating, a custom ROM might or might not depending on the ROM.
The "normal" way to activate a used Photon on Sprint or a Sprint MVNO like Ting is:
1. Set up an account with Ting and enter the MEID on the "Enter ESN" screen. Be sure that Ting accepts the MEID as valid and able to be used.
2. Do a factory reset. The reset will not harm the custom ROM if there is one. It will however delete all contacts, accounts, ringtones, saved messages, user installed apps, etc.
3. After you reset the phone it will restart and run hands free activation which will activate the phone on the network. Hands free sometimes fails but it will give you an option to retry. You may have to retry a few times especially if coverage is bad.
If handsfree fails, post the Android version, Baseband version and Build number from the Settings > About phone screen and some one here may be able to tell you what ROM you have and how to get it to activate.
Here is a screenshot
I have taken a screenshot of the "About Phone" portion of the Settings and attached it to this post. Hopefully this will help narrow down what needs to be done.

Definitely a custom ROM. Have you tried a factory reset yet?

No I have not because I was told on a different site that doing the reset may mess up the phone depending on the ROM and since I have never heard of this ROM, I decided not to risk it without further information or someone who knows more than me (not hard to do) could guide me on the next best step.

The ROM you're running is Gummy 1.2.2. I'm not familiar with that ROM but the ROM thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633931 I recommend reading the entire thread and if you still have concerns about factory resetting or activating, post your questions in that thread.
If you want to go back to stock see the last part ("Return to Stock/Relocking via FullSBF flash") of post 6 of Lokifish's excellent "!!!LOOK HERE FIRST!!! Motorola Photon Compendium a.k.a. all things MoPho 06/11/12" thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393519
i originally posted this question at the noob thread, and got this answer, which i don't totally understand either:
my question:
with the avast article coming out last week, i'm wondering how someone (me) with very little techno ability knows how to properly erase ALL my data from my old galaxy note android phone (which i'd like to sell). i keep reading that yes, it's a problem, no, the factory reset will do it, blah, blah, blah.
i've uninstalled all of my downloaded apps, encrypted the phone and done a factory reset. will this do it? should i do the encrypt/reset several times? what else, if anything, do i need to do?
i've tried searching the forum for this info, but didn't get anywhere (maybe i'm using the wrong terms?)
thanks!
answer provided:
i would do the factory reset 3 times from stock recovery.
try searching your phones forum, if you dont know how to get into stock recovery.
it is just a couple button combos when powered off, but not all phones are the same or i would just tell you what to push
what is a "factory reset from stock recovery" for a galaxy note (original)? i've done the phone's factory reset....is that the same thing?
thanks!
nevermind....found a youtube video that shows me how to enter stock recovery and find the wipe data option.

I might be wrong but that is still a factory reset. If you want to be sure about secure data shredding there are many apps that apply secure data wipe, military grade wipe, or write zeros on device storage.
