Is this the stock file or the upgrade file? I assume it's the upgrade file but I want to be sure. Will it undo the root?

Wouldn't have to change its name to, "update.zip" for it to be recognized? Because we don't have CWM Recovery, update.zip is the only thing that's recognized.

Does anyone have full gapps for the V7e? The one fron Charlies only contains the Market. I need the calendar and contact syncs. I tried the one from CM7 but it didn't work.

I've received my Viewpad 7e recently. (You get one for free at Strato, Germany right now if you book Strato's cloud Service "Hi-Drive 500GB")
When I go to Apps - "FW Update" I always get an error message ("Server cannot be reached. Try again later" or something likewise).
But the header says something about Firmware 20120216, which I'd interpret as a newer update from February, 16th, 2012.
Does anyone else receive this error message?
Does anyone know something about an FW Update from Feb. 16th or has even succesfully installed it?
greetings from Germany

Theres update? 2012 ? Mine was last 2011 no news of updates. What version are you in now. Mine also says error in the ota update fw. Server is down now.

Can you post your current FW version ?
When I am reading the news at http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2012/02/18/6129697.htm, I am thinking that they maybe created a new FW just to include their specific "Hi-Drive" app

You might be right about the Hi-Drive app... This app comes pre-installed in this specific viewtab 7e.
So that would mean no improvement to the firmware, only the additional app. Can anyone explain to me what interest Viewsonic has to enable a different market and not to allow the google market?
I find this very annoying. In the installed Market is only a small percentage of the apps the google market offers.
I'll check about my current firmware later, don't have the Viewtab here with me

The last update i receive was they added apps and fixed some bugs. No changelogs. Its getting annoying because they dont even make the effort to upgrade to honeycomb or ics

Not sure this is new but here is an link to the latest official FW (v11252011) including a kind of changelog: http://ap.viewsonic.com/in/kbase/article.php?id=649

Thats the last update after their release. We're expecting honeycomb but fat hope.

So the "Update" to the above firmware would - if it should work after all - bring me to a non-Strato-branded, stock viewpad 7e like the ones you guys have, shouldn't it?
Question is: would I also lose access to strato Hi-Drive?
Because another weird thing that I did realize right now is, that my VP 7e is featuring the "AndroidPIT market", not the "1Mobile market" after all.
So if I "downgrade" to 11252011, will I be able to install the Hi-Drive app from 1Mobile market?
Questions over Questions....

So, here's now the Firmware info:
Android Version: 2.3.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-svn, [email protected] #226
BSP Version: 1.2.9
FW Version: F70_VSDE_S_W_C_02162012
Hardware Version: MP
Touch Version 201100811-1102
By the way: FW Update App gives this error:
Error in Server.
Some exception happened in the Server now. Please update next time.
In the title is this text:
FW Update (Version 20120216)
That means the Version in the FW Update Titel is the same as the installed Version
Sorry, but as luik said this is probably only the Special Strato-Version of our Firmware

Maybe mine is diff from yours. But im running gingerbread 2.3.1

[Q] How to get OTA's after Rooting / Unrooting?

Hi Friends,
I rooted my device Desire HD and then, I unrooted it.
Its back as it was when I first bought it,
Ther problem is it is still not Updating, it's been 2 months since I unrooted it,
My android version is 2.2 froyo,
My software no: 1.32.405.6
My build no.: 1.23.405.6 CL278359
Baseband version is: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
The Question is how can I upgrade it to Gingerbread.......
Thanks.
First of all, just for the future; the title "How ????????" doesn't attract people. The title should be a proper title about the topic of the thread.
On topic: Are you running stock ROM? Have you tried to type in *#*#CHECKIN#*#* on your dialpad? (*#*#2432546#*#*). This will force the phone to check for updates.
Thank you again
Sorry for the Title.....
Well I typed the (*#*#2432546#*#*) on my dial pad and it said checkin succeeded...
but no update was done ..
What should i do next
Thanks in advance

Well you could Root it again, install a custom recovery and flash a Gingerbread ROM yourself?

Can I upgrade it to software version to: 1.84.661.1 Release Key.
So I can Upgrade it on air to gingerbread 2.43.661.1 Release Key

Look for ROMs that have [STOCK] in the thread title like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059563
I'm not sure if that one does, but some will allow you to continue receiving OTA updates.
Be patient, look around the forums and do your research.
I am still a beginner with it
So should i root first then install the ruu gingerbread or i should just install it without rooting?

Android 4.0.3 (release1a) update! But did not see any difference.

Android 4.0.3 (release1a) update! How to Rooted?
My sys version changed from 4.0.3 (Not PreRooted) to 4.0.3(release 1a) not rooted.
My updated yesterday, but did not see any difference.
Information on this update:
Android 4.0.3 (Release 1a) Now Available for Tablet S
Posted: 08 August 2012 by Jas-n
Categories: Tablet
Tags: Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, S, Tablet
Today, Sony released a new update for the Tablet S* that fixes the initial boot isses, something we haven’t experienced nor heard about ourselves.
There are some additional update points, however, they’re a bit odd…
Android 4.0.3 upgrade
Adds Small App function
Adds the slide show effect pattern
Support direct playback media media file on the SD card memory (Tablet S)
1, 2, and 4 were all part of the last update that came with Ice Cream Sandwich, so we don’t know why they’re included in this update, unless there’s tweaks to them. We’ll find out after I update.
Nope, can’t see anything new, probably notes on the previous update.
The update weigt in at 9.9MB, however we urge you to update via Wi-Fi only rather than 3G in order to avoid any nasty data use charges.
As we only have a Tablet S, we’re not sure if this update applies to the Tablet P as well. If you do own one, let us know.
Anyone know any more information this update?
It is possible to make root?

There is performance improvements in the homescreeen and remember, small updates like that will not change the kernel so no, you cannot root, The only way Sony will change the kernel is when they put a new version of android like Jelly Bean on and placing a Jelly Bean kernel on it and just maybe Sony will allow users to root just because its maybe the last update if its going to be fully fixed.

Correct?
Sony has to provide us with a way to unlock the bootloader. Trying to do it without Sonys help is like trying to fly to the moon without NASA

If the tablet becomes rootable again and someone does find ways or something, both yes but has far has i know, its a no for both.
There is APX mode that i entered today but i cannot get back in after the first try even if i got it right in the first time, if you can find the correct files, get NVFlash and get the combination correct, maybe you can get in but its more for making the device unbrickable (Depends on files) but hopefully someone can find a way in since APX Mode only works on Nivda Chipsets.

official t mobile ice cream sandwich update wednesday

t mobile says the update will be here for the springboard this wednesday be on the lookout for it
And it looks like they plan to give us jellybean at some future date.

So how do us "flashers" get the update since they are no longer considered spring boards?

Someone with a stock Springboard has to catch the OTA update URL in order to let us analyze what's in the zip. Depending on which files are full images and which are patch files, that will determine what needs to be done in order to flash a Springboard from the MediaPad ICS firmware.
If it's like other OTA zips for this unit, it will contain a full set of radio files but some of the system files might be present as patches. If someone can post the URL to that zip I will try flashing just the radio part to see if that stabilizes the radio on my tab.
If we're lucky, the ICS upgrade will be such a radical overhaul that it will include full images of everything we need in the zip.
Hey guess...brand new springboard owner here!!! mines is as stock as it can be....what can i do to help?

Hey guys, I recently won a T-Mobile SpringBoard, and I quiet like it. When I got the device I went to System - About Tablet - System Updates (Google), and it said there was an update. So I made it download the update and install it. But it was just a newer version of Honeycomb. For a little over a week now I've been trying to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update but the thing just says the tablet is up to date.
Is T-mobile doing a slow roll out of the update or something? I'm not a T-mobile customer, but I don't think that matters since it did do one over the air update already.
Any clue what's the deal?
Thanks!

It should show up somewhere in the log once you have received the update notification. Please post a screenshot of the notification too.
Just for comparison this is the URL of the update from "older Honeycomb" to "newer Honeycomb":

I would assume this URL would take a similar form.

yeah I got the same problem, downloaded file but no idea how to open it
- on your external Storage create a folder 'dload' put the downloaded file in this folder and rename the file to 'update.zip'
- power off (completely!) your device, press 'Vol+', hold it, and press power
- hold 'Vol+' until the green Android appears. It should start updating

New to the springboard and glad to have come across a site that has some information on it. I have been waiting for the update for a couple days now, I also downloaded the update zip that was posted a few posts up. When you say "external" storage, are you referring to an SD card? And I am assuming this can be done on a factory springboard? I would rather do this than wait for the OTA to hit my device. Thanks for your help, this is an awesome forum.

Downgrade from 4.025 to 4.07

Hi.
I'd like to downgrade my Archos g8 90 from 4.0.25, root version, to standard 4.0.7.

Not sure I fully understand your question (maybe a language translation problem), but...
The short answer is... you can always install whatever the LAST official Archos firmware you ever had installed (or any newer higher official Archos firmware) by going into the Recovery menu (hold Volume up or down from a fresh start up), but...
I am really confused because you said you had 4.0.25 rooted... and then you say you installed SDE... and that makes no sense to me at all because you would have had to have had SDE installed to ever even have been able to get any "rooted" firmware installed to start with. So, can you please list just what you have done, and which firmware all the way through things in the exact order you did them?

[ROM] Lenovo a760 clean android rom wanted

I'm looking for a clean android multilanguage system without china applications and letters for lenovo a760. Have anyone tested customs ROMs for this phone? Android system which is installed on the phone is not userfriendly and I have a problem with many applications and Aero.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434453 Try to root with this method. Remove ONLY HAVIEST CHINESE SYSTEM APPS, we still don't have a rom to flash if we delete important stuff by accident. . Use more locale 2 until maybe a ROM is developped. As an alternative market use www.1mobile.com
When I get my phone I will try to build a rom for it. I kind of know how to do it...never built one before though Any help would be appreciated
Any update on this? I've been searching for days to find any sort of modification for the a760 but to no avail.
I like the current stock rom, however some apps are in Chinese and i would like for these to be translated so i can use them.
I'd also like the latest firmware, i downloaded it several times via the OTA updater but it just sticks on 100% and if I try to access the file through the file explorer it says it's corrupt.
Thanks.
Sent from my Lenovo A760 using xda app-developers app
Once I receive it i'll start experimenting I should get it in about 1 week I guess...
I've managed to download the latest firmware for my a760 I downloaded it from my pc as when I did it on my phone it hung at 100 %
However I don't know how to install it. It's currently in the googleota folder (where the phones OTA updater downloads it too) but nothing happens in system update menu in settings.
I've tried to flash from stock recovery using sdupdate but it says no file found.
Do I need to rename the zip? Or move it elsewhere? I've had it on the root of the sd too.
I'll be more than happy to share the file with you so you can tinker with it, just let me know if you want it. However I'm guessing the majority of it will be Chinese like our current rom.
Thanks
Sent from my Lenovo A760 using xda app-developers app
Right considering this is the only thread on xda in regards to the a760 I will list my problem here.
I download the ota update, I couldn't install it via the phone so I flashed it through Cwm recovery, it worked and put me on the latest version, however I think I may have pressed a few wrong buttons in Cwm as it was in Chinese and i installed it blind using previous knowledge of Cwm from other devices,
Anyway the phone is operational but the new version won't allow me to use anything Google, not sure if this is fault of my own or the Chinese rom makers want us to only use their app stores.
Each time I open play store it just closes instantly, not FC it just won't load. Also when I open some apps they do FC, such as titanium backup, play services, superuser (English one) ect.
My final issue is that I cannot mount system as RW, i am rooted but still can't mount RW.
I don't know if my problem lies with the recovery image, the one i flashed before all this was a Chinese Cwm image for A706 (many reports of it working for the 706 and it did for me)
My logic is that if I can flash the stock recovery image all will be back to normal.... After the update Cwm has gone, I have android stock recovery 3e now. Any opinions on this?
Also if anyone has or knows where to get the older firmware that'd be great as I preferred it over this new one. I have asked the seller to source it for me but no reply as yet.
Thanks, and sorry for the massively long post!

i was also trying to flash the recovery but no luck. How did you manage ? I was trying to push it with adb...We have exaclty the same issues..Have you try to flash the gapps threw the recovery ?
This is wthat am trying to do..Flash the recovery in order to flash the gapps
I flashed the recovery using an automated bat file, I think basically it was just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img or adb flash recovery
I do not have Cwm any more, since I updated I lost it and ended up with stock android recovery.
I've had a 15 hour shift at work and have only just got home so haven't been able to get on the PC and try n fix it. But I will have a quick go now before I go to bed.
Can you link me to or upload the gapps? Are they the correct ones for a760? This may fix my Google issues

Here are the gapps for 4.1.2 Gapps hope you fix it
I used this to restore my device and just started the whole process from the beginning. http://bbs.antelife.com/thread-407-1-1.html
Its is a clean stock firmware with 99% of the Chinese removed, However it is an older firmware but works great !
I am now using this until I or Someone else has the time to modify and translate the newest firmware release.
Hope it helps ! Keep me informed with your progress !

Do you know who did this firmware or if it has a new one with android 4.3? I liked this firmware!! What is the newest firmware? :good:
I've no idea who made it. I stumbled across it when I was looking for a fix. It's not the latest firmware as I am offered an OTA from under the settings menu.

That's the reason I found this topic. I tried to update via OTA and it was installed other system completely chinese and without google play, for this reason, i'm afraid to try to update again...
This update: A760_1_S_2_001_0133_130828 (418MB), but I don't know if it'll install the chinese firmware without google play or not...
I also installed it and it gave me too many problems. It's more Chinese than the current rom and would not support anything Google. Gmail / play store / play services all blocked.
My advice will be to stick with the firmware u have at the moment and wait for someone to modify it. Or have a try yourself. The link a few posts back will restore ur device if anything goes wrong

Cool! Thanks!!
I don't know if I should ask here, but I have an app called Device Manager Service (red icon) and the same is deactivated. What does it do?
And another suggestion for developers, some screens in brazilian portuguese are with wrong translation or without translation I don't know if it's lenovo's fault or something, but if someone can translate or modify, I could help
