i have s-off with hboot 1.50.0000 - HTC EVO 3D

i just got a refurb shipped to me and it came s-off... am i the only one who has s-off with 1.50? could my phone possibly help the devs get s-off for other people?

Nah i have it too. Whoever had it before used team revolution on hboot 1.4 then used htc's method on 1.5. So now you have 1.5 with s-off.

Aww lucky. I been thru 4 E3D and I never got one like that I wish I did. How is it possible?

Damn, just tossed a thanks when I meant to hit quote.
Anyways, it was described above hwo it happened. I did this on mistake and rolled back to 1.40 afterwards, as I retained S-off with 1.50 hboot.
Unless you mean how is it possible, in the sense that how did that guy manage to score an S-off device? Someone had issues with a rooted device and exchanged it, so...pure luck.

Every little bit counts. Not sure how you'd go about dumping the system though. I'm sure someone here could show you how.

Hey OP, thanks for sharing. There have been a few S-OFF E3Ds reported to be floating around in the wild and as far as I know, a system dump was given to teamwin. At this point I think this is something the devs have had access to and I doubt would do much good now. However, your gesture is much appreciated thanks for offering up what you have.
Thanks just looking to help
The difference to this from the one teamwin got is it it a ship S-off hboot instead of a Eng s-off hboot like the one teamwin got. Mind posting a pic for proof?

[Q] New Evo 3D owner need advice

Hello all,
I traded that sorry BB Playbook for a lovely Evo 3D. Now I want to root 2.3.5 and I have Hboot 1.5. There is a lot of information that I have combed through but its really confusing. I have a Nexus S and an Evo 4g rooted without issue, but EVO 3D appears to have too many ways to root and I'm not sure where to start. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Check the stickies of the development forum for how to downgrade your hboot, after that, use revolutionary to s-off your phone.
Better yet, here's the downgrade thread

I would recommend htcdev.com for the official 1.5 unlock. Its easier and safer than downgrading your boot loader.

@OP stay away from HTCdev.com do the downgrade it is well worth it in the end yes it does sound scary that you have to brick your phone to achieve h-boot 1.4 with s-off but it works 100% I have done the method and now sitting with an evo3d with h-boot 1.4 s-off running Meanrom with the Anthrax kernel.

Seeing as you HAVE to use the HTCDev method to unlock it in the first place, I would say you have failed. Massively.

I recently had my EVO 3D replaced by sprint, kept rebooting randomly even after superwipe and flashing completely back to stock. Received a replacement with 1.5 hboot. I downgraded it just fine, never used HTCDev method.

If you are new to rooting and not very computer savy I would recommend htc's unlock method it will give you root albeit with s-on. But if you understand Linux and are good on a computer. I say go ahead with the down grade by unknownforce. I'm gonna do it this weekend. It'll be nice to have s-off.

Now, now guys. Let's give our neighbor across the pond the benefit of the doubt as he is on GSM and cannot downgrade boot using unknownforce's method.

S-OFF for new hboot?

Anyone know if there will be an S-OFF method for the new Hboot? The sprint reps updated a buddy of mine's EVO without asking him and alas he now has the upgraded hboot.
Is there a way to revert it back?
Thanks All
Absolutely not
Sent from the depths of hell
To clear up the above post: there is absolutely no way of reverting back.
However, it might be possible that someone comes out with a way to achieve S-OFF on newer hboots. Did your friend make it clear to the Sprint rep to not update the phone? If he JUST bought it he can simply get it swapped out and make sure the rep doesn't update this time. If it's in for repair it might be tougher to get the situation remedied.
If you've ever accepted an OTA, theres not an S-0FF.
Chances are we will find an exploit for h-boot 1.15, but 1.19 is probably going to be very far down the road if ever

I doubt that there will be an s-off for 1.15. In fact it would make sense to abandon it and start working on the latest hboot to find an exploit.

Theres a good chance that there had been some exploit in 1.15 for them up update it though. That vulnerability would have been patched in 1.19

No sir, you are very wrong, with all due respect.
There are more(most likely) exploits to get s-off in 1.15. Once one of those is found and you can get s-off, you can then update hboot, firmware, etc, and remain s-off.

If I'm already S-on Hboot 1.15 is there any reason not to update?

Rxpert, can you please send me in the directions to acheive S-Off since i to have 1.15 hboot? I've looked all around no luck yet. Is it posssible to acheive S-off because of the 1.15hboot since LazyPanda isn't an option?:good:
There is no s-off for hboot 1.15 yet.
The reason you should not take the OTA is because there is a new hboot, which means it will probably be a very long time before you can get s-off on 1.19.
If you can hold out awhile longer, s-off should be possible on 1.15, then you can do whatever you want, update radio, etc.

Cloaker, do you have any reference to back up that hboot 1.15 s-off should be possible? I can't find anyone that is working on it. I've read others saying LazyPanda are working on it, but can't find that either. Just that s-off isn't possible on hboot 1.15 as well.

I know what you know, but if you look at the evo 3d and most phones, the pattern is that the first hboot is cracked quickly, the next one soon after, and the third takes a while(at least a year). There are still plenty of devs that haven't upgraded to the LTE yet.
Also, since htc has updated hboot again, has led many to believe on this forum that HTC found an exploit in 1.15 and patched it. With the phone this new, I bet s-off will be achieved with 1.15 relatively soon. But again, no sources, just my possibly flawed logic.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
If anyone knew 100% that it would be possible to crack it would already be cracked.
We are making assumptions bbased on the fact that HTC released hboot 1.19. They don't usually do that unless it patches vulnerabilities used to gain S-OFF
Does anyone know WHY HTC doesn't want us to have s-off? Even if we void the warranty doing it through their method. I would be completely satisfied if HTC dev let me have s-off.

Because S-OFF gives you the ability to really screw things up. They are protecting you from yourself
I understand that logic, but at the same time I don't. If I want to mess up my phone, let me. If they don't want to cover it under warranty, I understand. But let me mess my phone up. Lol

The problem is its hard to prove your phone is rooted once its really bricked. So they end up replacing it under warranty anyways.

What if they let us get s-off by providing our serial numbers? It seems like it would benefit them to let us get s-off via them. Then they could blacklist our serial numbers, if we do it, there isn't much they can do because as you mentioned, it's hard to tell once it's bricked.

I wonder if one reason they close the exploits as fast as they can, and the reason their unlocker wipes the phone, is a liability issue their lawyers told them to do. So nobody can do this to somebody else's phone and access "sensitive data" or something.

Yesterday I did the deed, and got S-OFF. I was running a 1.12 hboot after downgrading several months earlier. Had to RUU up to a 1.19 hboot for the Racun to do it's thing. Otherwise it was a quick, and painless operation. If you need help go the #unlimited IRC channel on freenode.net.
