Also don't hate but I've been thinking of the Nokia Lumnia 710 as well... I've heard nothing but great things about it; albeit it wont be an Android device

If you consider to buy a Lumnia device i would realy recommend you a Lumnia 800, its about 60€ more but you will be ALOT happier with it compared to the Lumnia 710.

I like the Lumia 800 but it is not optimized for T-Mobile USA 3G data band Only will work on EDGE with T-Mobile USA. So the 710 might be good enough for now, unless I go with that Nexus.

But WP7(.5) is also a very good OS

I think you should buy the samsung galaxy s2. Its a fast phone looks grate and the camera is superb. Its a little expensieve but you get a whole lot in return

Samsung Galaxy sii or Galaxy Nexus

Just picked up a new Nokia WP Lumia 710 on Amazon Wireless. I have 30 days to return it for a full refund, so let's see how this works out.
Isn't the Galaxy Nexus only on Verizon? I didn't really want to spend anything over 400.

Which SGS2 is the best?

Hi there, I have an xperia x10 and the thing is getting out dated. I would like to switch to the Samsung Galaxy s2 but when I go to look there are like 50 different variants...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II I go to wiki and it shows me the different ones and who provides them.
I would like one with the 1.5 ghz dual core at the least, or am i mistaken? do I wan the hd screen?
Please help a brotha out, help me find the best sgs2
thanks in advance,
Vader
The lte versions need pricey data plans, the hd lte is only sold in korea, the sprint/tmobile ones wont work on rogers network, so that leaves you with the att i9100, the skyrocket or bell's i9100. Out of those i'd get the bell one since it has a physical home button and the largest userbase, or if you prefer capacitive ones get the att one. The skyrocket has a weaker cpu/gpu.
Look my friend , just buy the regular samsung galaxy s2 (GT-9100)
# it's good phone at the most
# main model not a secondry one e.g (GT-9100G) Or the 1.5 ghz one
# most support as it's the main model
# the 1.5 ghz is not the one that u gonna need it will drain out your battery life and so much heat u should face . Beside the 1.2 ghz works fine and runs all u needs
# when u choose take the most fimiler one to avoid any conflect with any experince
That's just what I see , at the end it's your call
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Psh, the 1.5ghz isn't as efficient or powerful as our 1.2ghz.
$1 gets you a reply
DO NOT get the crapdragon version. The exynos has most of the support and is MUCH faster. I still cant figure out how people are selling the lte version for more in GTA area. please get the exynos.

I came from an X10 as well. Get the Bell GS2. I guess you can get the Telus GS2 (which is the same as T-Mobile but with Rogers bands) but trust me, get the international (Bell) variant.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Ok so basically we have narrowed it down to Bell or Telus or International because they are the only ones that support the Rogers connection. What I don't get is why the snapdragon is so crappy? Does it overheat? Like usually you think well higher ghz means faster, it is this similar to like Intel cores that have a lower clock but are faster than an amd processor where the clock is higher? Its like a technology efficiency type deal?
Also do I have to switch providers if I buy the bell or telus one? I am planning on just buying the phone outright instead of changing my phone plan...
Thanks for all your guys' help I really really appreciate it!!!

Don't bother with the telus one, it has a weaker soc than the regular sgs2. The bell/internation sgs2 is identical, once you get it simply root the phone and unlock it with the Galaxy_S Unlock app from the market, it'll work on rogers just fine.

Thanks for the input, I know the SGS2 will be getting ICS but I have been keeping my eye on the Galaxy Nexus, it has a really nice screen and I really do enjoy having a great display, but as my x10 has a 8 mpx camera i feel like it would be counter productive in some senses. The galaxy nexus also doesn have as good of a processoror gpu as sgs 2 i wish they would make the galaxy as good as the sgs2.
Also i think the shape and concept of the galaxy nexus is much more appealing than the sgs2. Now im really at a dilema....galaxy nexus, or sgs2.

The better performance in benchmarks is all because of ICS. In my opinion, when SGS2 gets ICS, it beats the galaxy nexus in everything except the screen.

SGS II i9100 vs SGS Advance i9070

Which one is better SGS II or SGS Advance?
galaxy s2
Xda
For me SGS II
It depends on how much you want to spend on a phone. Obviously the SII is better, but for the price, the S Advance is a great option.
If you don't want to spend too much, I recomend the S Advance. It's a great phone for sure

I deffenetly would go with the S2 ... it has the flash, for one, it runs 4.0 android, it has the better screen, and better look's, from my point o view
in the end, you and only you can decide
Go for the Galaxy S Advance!
There are a lot of requests in the "New section request thread" for this phone - so i think soon there will be some devs picking up that phone.
For comparison:

I rooted mine and removed all the bloatware, installed Go Launcher EX and am very happy now with this device. I don't know what more you want - except ICS...

If the amount you pay more is worth 1200 quadrant points then go for the galaxy s2. But I don't know why you need a phone that makes more points in a benchmark - this s advance is fast enough for everything i tried yet...

Galaxy S2 tops galaxy advance in some ways (but most specs are same).
Galaxy S2 only has a little bit higher Ram than Advance (around 300mb more), a lil bit bigger screen (0.3" more), faster GPU and a lil faster cpu (400mhz more...but it doesnt make much difference)

As stated, if you want the better phone . . . the choice is obvious .
I thought I was addicted to changing devices; I used to get a new device about every 3 months. Apparently, I was just waiting on the Galaxy S2; I've had it since release and I'll have it for the duration.
Better than Nexus in Quadrant?! :O

Worth it to buy N.800, possible to flash to win 8?

Hi! I'm looking at new smartphones, and a friend reccommended the Lumia 900, because the windows phone 8 update is coming out soon, and has good reviews and solidity.
The 900 is just a bit large for my hands and x_x .. Is over the roof in price! Meanwhile the 800 is a nice size, has similar specs, and is more down-to-earth in price. My question is just, will it be possible to flash/upgrade it manually/at home later on via information from this forum? I'm quite tempted!
Your feedback is really appreciated!

I suppose it depends on where you live. The Lumia 900 is much cheaper and readily available in the US. A black one can be had for $300 off contract.
Maybe if development in the Lumia 800 progresses, we may be able to see the WP8 in the near future, but I won't count on it.

Yeah you are right, in Finland Lumia 900 is about 450€ at cheapest, and Lumia 800 350€.
I expect the 900 and 800 to fall a degree in price when the next windows 8 development comes in October- my hubby has said to expect a fresh Lumia phone. I have no idea yet. I do like the feel of the 800 a lot better than the 900 though, after putzing around with them in the local 3 store.

There were rumours that they used Lumia 800s as development phones for windows phone 8 and as the old phones as well as new phones will use ARM chipsets, it should technically be possible to get WP8 running on older devices.
I would love to see that coming
DOn't fear, for you're on XDA. the guys here are top notch, they will find a way to stuff almost all if not all the windows 8 contents in the rest of the lumias...
News, Nokia Lumia 800 is a phone series, Nokia plans to release an 800 Windows 8 model, possibly in December.
Possible MS might try to accquire Nokia.

what is the best Android phone at the moment?

I'm planning to buy a new android phone this week
I had the HTC one X and I will not ever buy HTC mobiles again

Galaxy S3.
Do not get Samsung, trust me they do not have the craftsmanship and it's features are mediocre at best. It's exfat is broken and the screen breaks easily thanks to 20% thinner gorilla glass; its very expensive to repair because it is glued on it.
I recommend you phone such as: Motorola DROID razr maxx hd(uses kevlar back cover which is the same material used for bullet proof vest, and it has the largest battery life of android on its size), HTC butterfly if you could get one(has 1080p ips rgb display on 5" size, quad core s4 pro, adreno 320, 2gb ram, microsd, 2nd best camera sensor atm first is lumia 920), the upcoming Sony phone that also has 1080p display and quad core s4 pro. If you want the absolute best that is currently available atm, you cannot get it because it is only available on sprint and the phone is called EVO 4G lte which uses anodize aluminum construction, kickstand, and microsd slot, krait cores, 2nd best camera sensor and the fastest Brower atm(sun spider score on its stock browser is 1.2-1.3k on ics

I think you little hard on Samsung, even I'm not a fan I can see how they won that large market share by providing alot of feature, good hardware and varieties
Motorola is almost rare here in my market, I thought of the Maxx series for the large battery but the Note II battery numbers are really impressive
No More HTC, I've using HTC devices from mid 2010 and the big failure in HTC one X (lousy battery, overheating, poor screen protection, got three scratches without a reason ) and for the record, my touch buttons are not working and I'm having it repaired at the moment by replacing the full touch screen
I think that replied on siwo.jack as well
Lumia 920 I guess it will be great but it yet pretty early to judge and I was for two and half years an android user so I'm not sure about winmo 8
Sony Phablet yet to be available and yet to judge either

also when it come to my country it will be late and priced to the roof
S3 i would say... and S2 is still a best option
:good: go for s 3 ... nice phone ... Note II is also good option but it all depends how you are going to use it. if you carry it daily S3 and S2 are good options ... Note II lil difficult to carry around daily in some crowded places ... fear to loss it
technically both are best phones ...

I think while the Samsung Galaxy S3 is great, you can not really go wrong with the new Nexus 4 by Google. The price point is just incredible. Of course, if absence of LTE doesn't bother you.
The big question always is, "what are you going to do with it?". Different people have different priorities. For me, camera/screen is a big factor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll find a better camera on an android phone than the S3.

Apart from the screen the 5S is either better or equal to G2, check the benchmarks

Apples to oranges. Do you want a touchscreen jitterbug device or an Android based smartphone? That's what it comes down to at the end of the day. How about you go to the store, play with both, and come back and tell us what you chose and why.

Meaningless comparison/data. Actually using both and buying based on one's particular usage is the only comparison that matters.
Totally different devices and experiences. I don't think anyone should try to compare the two. First choose Android or iOS then decide from there. That said ...

you coudl get a good phone, like the G2
or you could get the iphone, aka baby's first smartphone
I don't know about posting in a G2 forum because the majority of people here are going to say G2.
That being said I have an iPad for Apple stuff and my G2 for everything else. Even though people are a little apprehensive about the LG UI it does grow on you (I was a big Nova launcher user). It really depends on how you use your phone.

Go with the iPhone 5s. That phone is pretty cool like the other side of the pillow.

Thanks everyone ! I'm leaning more towards the g2 , hopefully that stays there lol ! Also , I hope LG updates their phones !
Ya got a lotta moxie posting that here, kid!
But seriously, I entertained the iPhone 5S as well. I don't want a smaller screen, though. And while I'm not addicted to flashing and modding my phone, I would like to have that option. If LG lags with updates, I can just grab a ROM from the community here.
Go get the 4s update to ios7 and save $200 its the same thing. People got to understand its not hard to make a phone benchmark high, its also easy to make an iturd look fast because it does absolutely nothing, all it has to do is render a few small icons on a little dippy ass 4 inch 720p 5 year old retina display! Take an ijunk and put half of the features this phone or the s4 has and it will hardly run!
If you have to ask this question you should probably buy an iphone and be done with it. The advantages of android will probably be lost on you.
Anyone asking that question here should buy an iPhone. Enjoy your purchase
