I'm not being callous, but don't use a mac. Both methods will work on a windows machine.
If you can't access a win pc, which would be weird btw, and can't figure it out on the mac, maybe try it in a win VM running on the mac.
The sudo password is the same as the user password that you use to log into your mac.

Hello,
I just got my first Android phone, the Atrix 4g. So I'm relatively new to Rooting although I have jailbroken my iPod and my iPhone but I know jailbreaking is much easier and simple. My problem is that when I try to start GingerBreak.exe, nothing happens. I've installed all the drivers, set the USB Connection to "None", and turned on Debugging. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I start GingerBreak.exe, I suppose it appears on your phone but nothing appears or opens on my phone nor computer.
Can anyone help me? Anything is appreciated!
Thanks!
Edit: BTW, I have an external MicroSD card mounted as well.
Get adb and type adb devices in command prompt

Blehh, as I've said, I'm new so can you please tell me what adb is and where to get it?
And how would I use it?
Download adb from superoneclick. Using command prompt navigate to the directory. Then type adb devices.

Fixed guys.
It couldn't detect the phone because I needed to download the MotoHelper drivers from the Motorola websites, the x64 drivers downloaded from the guide didn't contain the Motorola ADB Interface driver.

Reading and watching YouTube on rooting the note seems to be done on a pc. Is there way to do it on a mac?

Yeah, basically, or virtual machine. You need ODIN to root, and there's no ODIN for mac as far as I know. I just booted into windows in boot camp on my laptop.
I did set up a Windows 7 Virtual Machine using VMware on the mac mini in my office, and it worked fine to flash via ODIN as well, so that's also an option if you don't want to actually make a windows partition.

ODIN for OS X
Windows ODIN wrapped in a wine wrapper in order to work in OS X:

So, as a noob, with an ATT Galaxy note, and a mac book pro. Is there a step by step guide for the use of the Odin/wine wrapper file?

Put your unlock.bin into toolkit folder, and just follow other steps in order, also copy supersu to your sd card and flash from within recovery. hasoon has made our lives easier with AIO
Sent from my HTC One XL
also make sure the path to your AIO folder has nothing but single words. If you dropped in it the desktop and your name is two words, it might have trouble. Move the folder to your c drive and try from there instead.
I used AIO on win8 pro with no trouble
No system on phone and sd is clean.

You could do the option mount > usb-otg
But you need to get a piece like this to work. See picture. Google usb-otg and check pictures

I just googled adb sideload tutorials and found this: http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/2013/12/how-to-copy-rom-zip.html
It might not be a perfect method but I only needed to copy a file.
Which makes me wonder, why recovery doesnt let you browse your storage when connected to a pc.
