[Q] File Transfer Between Ubuntu 12.04 and S3 over usb cable - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been facing this issue long back still not able to transfer files between My Ubuntu system and Samsung S3. I have googled and tried many ways ( installing mtp tools, etc ) but none works. When connect to my Ubuntu system Im getting a error like "Error initializing camera: -60: Could not lock the device" and two window will open with i9300 ( One will be phone memory and another will be memory card ). But none files or folder is visible. Does anyone any idea why this happen ? How can I solve this ? Or Guide me to any website which has the solution for this

Sometimes the easiest way to resolve USB issues is to reboot both devices, phone and computer.
Otherwise, double check sdcard is inserted all the way and make sure on the device to select mount on computer. sdcard won't appear on the desktop until the device makes it visible to the desktop via the user selecting to share the sdcard on the desktop via usb.
Hope that helps!
It did hat to restart computer thanks been rooted on the 4g for awhile but just got a 3d

File Transfer

What is the best way to transfer rom files to the phone? I didnt see a way to do it with the sync program. Is there some additional software i could use in windows? I've been using android commander to push files over via adb.
I am using total commander. It can push everything to the phones memory.

First xp scan for hardware is far more weeker than win 7 or 8..
So for all the proprietary drivers u need to manually push the driver for divices.. in xp...
Google xperia sola drivers for xp u will get drivers from the support center of sony or any other uploader.
Once u get it Go to device manager add drivers manully... select all devices .. custom location search on system.. install.. accept all red flags from system... once done ... restart ur system... connect again.. if not SUCCESS in mtp tgan usb mode..
Could have helped u for searching drivers.. but i am travelling right now...
If not than better to upgrade ur self to higher system.. may ask u wat u like aboit xp so much??
All the things u can do on 7 now... anything supported in xp is supported on 7...

Maybe someone can upload a blank nan droid backup with just the system partition. If they had your variant of the HTC One.

You could do the option mount > usb-otg
But you need to get a piece like this to work. See picture. Google usb-otg and check pictures

I just googled adb sideload tutorials and found this: http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/2013/12/how-to-copy-rom-zip.html
It might not be a perfect method but I only needed to copy a file.
Which makes me wonder, why recovery doesnt let you browse your storage when connected to a pc.

I mount USB storage in TWRP in the mount option in TWRP and connect my USB. This method has worked but getting the PC to know it has storage can be s little annoying.
