How does 50mV more impact battery?
I get fairly good battery with 1.2GHz with a 50mV undervolt. I want to overclock to 1.3GHz, but it has 50mV more (even with a -50mV Undervolt) then 1.2ghz.
1.2GHz = 1300mV
1.3GHz = 1350mV
Both are -50mV undervolted.
Will I still get good battery with 1.3GHz as well? Is it worth it?
It feels faster, but I was just wondering how much 50mV more will impact battery.

I wouldn't worry about uv except as needed for stability. If you find it enjoyable to play with and push your hardware then more power to you. But you will save a lot more power by using a black theme (red is second best)

Just overclock to 1.9ghz.. It will be super fast. And there's espresso protection on the kernel that does it so it's safe.

Can someone post all available frequencies(the voltage for lower than 600MHz and how much battery will it take comparing to the lower frequencies, eg 864 takes "x" battery more than 844)
Is there safe to use 864, and does it take to much battery, or not?

frequencies below 600: 122, 245, 320, 480 (all of these use the same voltage)
frequencies above 600: 652, 672, 691, 710, 729, 748, 768, 787, 806 (the difference in battery varies depending on your governor and usage but generally, the higher the frequency the more battery it eats)
stability-wise, the only thing that can go wrong when you oc to 864 is a kernel panic. other than that it should be safe to use. however, in the long run i think it can harm your cpu (and yes it does use a lot of battery)
this is my understanding. if someone does not agree, feel free to point out what you believe is wrong

All that can be added to what sweetnsour said is that there are three more frequencies over 600: 825, 844 and 864 MHz. But the chances for our CPU to be stable at any frequency above 806 MHz are very low.
Another notable side-effect to the overclock, beside quick battery depleting, is CPU overheating. I found my CPU to be stable at 806, but I went back to 729 just because the phone warmed up so much faster. At 729, I sense no difference compared to 600 MHz.

Yes a rooted with other tuning needs no oc, but what is thr highest that will not harm anything on a long term...
And does 122-480MHz really have same voltage?

This is highly subjective, no one can tell for sure, except maybe the manufacturer. Buy in theory you should be safe with any frequency at which your CPU is stable and does not overheat. You will sell or trash the phone long before the overclock will affect anything.
And remember: the CPU spends a fairly low amount of time at the high frequency; most of the time it will fall back to the minimum, as long as there are no tasks requiring high processing power.
As far as I could gather in the 10 months I spent on this forum, the community agreed that 729 MHz is the most convenient value.

I personally dont use Smartassv2 as it has some wakelock problems, so try different governors and find out which works best for you.
Btw, you are using the wrong kernel for your rom(6.5.8), you should be using fserve kernel or 4 Sept kernel by Franco (.32).
Yaa 480--729 is the perfect.Above 768 phone becomes unstable.

Undervolting - Post your settings

I'm curious as to which voltages people are using who choose to undervolt their device. I know I've seen some scattered posts around but am yet to see a thread, if I'm wrong feel free to close this one and direct me to the thread.
Mine are:
1200 mHz
1200 mV
1000 mHz
1100 mV
800 mHz
1000 mV
500 mHz
900 mV
200 mHz
900 mV
I made very small drops over stock as I'm pretty new to it so I didn't want to risk going to low.
I'm on UnNamed 2.2.1 with Entropy 12/08/2011 and CPU set to 1200-200 mHz on demand.
I'm trying to get an idea for what people run for the best mix of battery life and performance.
1700Mhz @ 1500mV
1400Mhz @ 1275mV
1200Mhz @ 1175mV
1000Mhz @ 1075mV
800Mhz @ 975mV
500Mhz @ 875mV
200Mhz @ 850mV
I havent done a whole lot of tweaking to find my optimal settings. Im hoping to have time to play with Zep's 3g turbocharger to see what i can squeeze out of my data with different modems. Im also about to move to UnNamed 2.2.1

There isn't a thread because you are supposed to figure out the settings yourself. EVERY DEVICE IS DIFFERENT. What works great for one person may crash another's device, what is just barely stable on one person's device may be far from optimal on another.
If every device were the same, THE STOCK VOLTAGES WOULD BE LOWER.

These values provide a baseline for others to start from. I never guessed I could go down to 825mv until I saw another thread on the i9100 section. But I understand your point of view as well.

Can I overclock to 1.4GHz with Good Battery?

I would overclock to 1.4ghz all the time. I just like my battery a little more then speed.
My battery is doing great @ 1.2GHz -50mV. But I kind of want more speed.
But 1.4GHz is 1400mV.
My battery drains in less then 2-3 Hours.
Is their a way for an oc to 1.4GHz without a big battery hit?
Or some speed tweaks?

Happy medium, 1.3GHz? I use "No-Frills CPU Control" from the Market and it works really well.

enyo... I have tested with glitch kernel at 1.7 ghz and i currently hold the record benchmark for this device on antutu using performance governor. After testing for a half hour at that speed i fell asleep with the phone stuck at that speed. I'm typing this message with that phone now. That was done with glitch v13. The most i ever got from high clock speeds was freezes and reboots.
However, if you get stupid with live oc the story can be very different.
But to give an idea of what my phone handled back then, go to the cm7 glitch thread and check what the gpu/buss speed was at 1.7ghz. But remember that those bus/cpu speeds, and voltages were finely tuned by tk , and you probably won't be able to push that hard with live oc.

It's all luck. Chance. Fate. If tk has not burned his phone yet i would say you have a lot of catching up to do to get the mileage he has. I had mine overclocked 1.5ghz for a few months.. And guess what, i have never monitored temp. But hey, i pay an extra couple dollars a month on top of insurance for lifetime warrantee. So i think my phone burning up would fall under that. But anyway, your stressing out to much over it.

no heat and i use it daily...first time i can ever say this when overclocking to 1500. i agree with neh4pres posts...becareful with live oc it can screw your device up quick. most folks will never see any benifit by using live oc imo anyway. part of the reason why i just use vc...
I actually use 10% live oc and 1200mhz step... All voltages stock. Fully stable and it FLIES

I must have every bit of speed. That said here's the setup:
ICS AKOP 25 Glitch 14 B5 for 6.0
1200 step with 118 LOC
Glitch OnDemand with some OV and UV. (see pics)
Live OC is the way to go as you get a boost to your GPU and RAM in addition to the usual CPU bump.

thx a bunch for this nfo. just used ur voltage settings for my device and was able to overclock into the 1300mhz range from the 1200 step. im impressed since last time it was very unstable at 1200 for me.

with the devil kernel i have been running 102% loc between 200-1000mhz. on glitch i can oc up to 1500mhz with no loc, soon as i add any loc the device freezes. im guessing my leakage is not dialed in correctly for glitch, also i get a bit nervous playing wit arm voltages.

Well what are you over clock preferred settings. Mine are min: 1.024 and Max: 1.92 governor: smartassV2 I/O scheduler: deadline.

I run 1.22 Max and 245 min. Its bad for the CPU to be clocked the way you are.

What's your battery life like? And as stated above, that can't be good for the processor.
Excessive heat is the worst thing you can do to a processor.

Its been pretty bad I guess that's why I just changed to Max 1.408 and min: 368

Oc really isn't even necessary on liquid ics. You'll never notice the difference if you out it back down to stock.

How is he overclocking on a ics rom anyways since we dont have kernel source I didnt think we could overclock ics roms yet.
I overclock to 1.2 ghz max and minimum either 245 or 368 mhz.
My battery life is pretty good, I'm running AOKP

The kernel is a modified gb kernel. It has oc capabilities.

Yea I could see voltage being a major issue for a processor. If the voltage is to high it would heat the processor up though. Soooooo..... you're right back to heat being a huge factor.

Leave the speeds stock and undervolt. When undervolting don't ever check save for boot or whatever until you are certain those settings won't cause you problems. If you undervolt to low it will reboot your phone. Go to high and it could overheat but I doubt you will need to do that for any reason. I would start with a -50 uv and see if it is stable for a few hours. If you think its good -25 to all for a few more. I usually can't get below -75 across all voltages but every phone is different so some people can go -100.

Can I do this with setcpu?
Or would you recommend a different app?
Because when I started setcpu, it set me on 1036MHz max and 245MHz min. and the governor is set on lagfree, and then the scheduler is set on deadline.
Not really sure what to do here... lol.
Forgive me... like I said, I'm new to clocking.
I haven't touched anything since I started the app.. I was too concerned to.
It's not set on boot yet.
There's also a page for profiles and another for the governor... both of which are have me looking at them as if I were one of the three stooges looking at a supercomputer.
I have no idea what to do.

Use incredicontrol. It's easier to use and profiles don't help much anyway. I would setup as 1024 max 245 min smartassv2 governor deadline scheduler -50 - -75 undervolt across the board.

It's not giving me a 1024 max.
It jumps from 960000MHz to 1036800 MHz max. and then the min. is set to 245760MHz.
Next tab (SVS) has 850 in the box on the right all the way from 24576MHz to 245760MHz. Has 875 in the box beside 368640MHz, then 900 beside 768000MHz and so on.
Are you saying that in those small boxes on the right beside the xxx MHz I should lower that number by 50 all the way down to what I set the max to be?
Say from where it says 850 all the way from 24576MHz to 245760MHz, I should change that 850 to 800? And just -50 from every one all the way up the the MHz that I set as the max?

I am over locked to 1400 Max and 245min. Gives me nice battery life and great speed. ESP with the new Liquid ICS v.1.5 MR3

Running Jester's AOSP ICS MR3 ROM, with SetCPU allowing from 245-1408. I have a custom profile for screen off to allow only up to 768 as well.
