Sorry if this has been ask but I'm on the phone and not coming up with much through the search. I've only had this phone for a little more then a day.
I've found this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16198978
But it hasn't been updated in a while and I'm just wondering if that is the only and or the best eng hboot available.
I'm on a CDMA Evo 3D rooted with revolutionary I had hboot 1.30 but after root I now have 1.40 s-off.
I do a lot of flashing and just want to be able to fully use fastboot in case I need it so any help would be great.
Also while I'm posting in here does anyone have any recommendations on radios I'm on the ones that came with the phone 0.97.00.0518 and from looking at the radio thread they seem to be a little old.
TIA for any help or replies.

The ENG hboot in that thread is the one I'd think you want to use. As far as the radios go, I'm not super sure. I'm on the same as you, and haven't upgraded nor seen a need to update at this point. My signal and speeds are great, so I figure just leave well enough alone. If you do decide to update to the latest radios, don't flash just the radio. You need to find an all in one zip by xHausx or freeza to flash all the necessary firmware. There may be even more all in one zip's floating around, but I know those two definitely have one. Good luck.

Hello XDA Users,
I got for 3 Days my EVO 3D.
The first thing I did was updating my EVO 3D to get some nice 3D Games.
Well after a quick search on the market I got an app that want root access for my EVO 3D.
My HBoot Version is currently 1.49.0018 so I want to root it.
Is there a way to downgrade it to 1.49.0007 - 8 or upgrade the Hboot Version to 1.50 to get root access?
best regards
Don't update to 1.5 whatever you do. If you still ahve the 1.49 go ahead and look in the 3D general forum at the stickies for a good rooting guide.

Ok so I've had this question forever and I'm not sure its ever been addressed.
I rooted via revolutionary so I have s off.
for whatever reason I decided I wanted to have h boot 1.5.
I know about the kernel dilemma with hboot 1.5.
Does anyone if that would still affect me even with s off?
Does anyone have a link to unit 1.4 that I can try and flash through recov?
Thanks guys,

There is no benefit. Its locked down so there is absolutely no reason to upgrade unless you don't like having root access.

If you ever wanted the newer hboot version (I don't see why anyone would ever want it) you could flash it but I don't know if it will keep S-Off. If it does, it will be locked so you might have to use HTC unlock to get the features of S-Off. Even then, you might still have to flash kernels via fastboot.
TLDR: Don't flash HBOOT 1.50.
Wanna trade phones? I've got 1.5 and I really wish I didn't.

No need to get pissy, I was simply asking if you think there are any advantages of having the 1.5 hboot over the 1.4 or the ENG hboot. I mean, there are no new featrues. In fact, if you wanted all of the hboot features, then the ENG hboot is your best bet.

Ah, good to know. It can be rather difficult to convey and understand sarcasm on the internet, especially on these forums. Anyways, as long as you have S-OFF, that's all that matters. However, if you want all the features possible, you want the ENG hboot. Haus has a thread on how to install it in the dev forums.
I did what you did, had 1.40 and flashed the wrong update, got 1.50 LOCKED with S-off. You can still flash ROMs and Kernels with no issues. I just had to reload TWRP recovery. Then I flashed the 1.40 Bootloader and all was well.
You can grab 1.40 and flash from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192306&highlight=eng+bootloader
***To others reading this...do not flash this, unless you are S-OFF with 1.50 hboot***
You do not need to UNLOCK using the htcdev method. Just flash the 1.40 hboot and you will be fine.

They release an official unlock method that still gives them some control. For example, you can't flash a different hboot or a different radio on their unlock method.
What type of features are you talking about? Are you saying 1.4 h-boot over 1.3 adds extras to the phone?

I'm having to come over via insurance and the 3d is what I get. I have a few questions. Is obtaining root on the 3d a difficult process, as doing it on the 4g was simple. Ive noticed that there are 2 different models. CDMA or the other one which one is the one being given out. And overall how has everyones experience been with this phone. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

If you're on Sprint, you have the CDMA version.
It isn't hard at all, if you understand adb. You can root with revolutionary on hboot 1.4 or downgrade if you have hboot 1.5. If you dont want to downgrade try the juopunutbear tool for s-off. It work the first try for me.

Welcome bud, I also got an evo 3d through insurance. Although I think the 4g had a better camera and I miss the looks, the 3d is a lot faster and has a much better screen. I've learned to love it.
Easiest way to do things is follow the htcdev.com unlock process to unlock the bootloader. Install superuser of course, then get 4ext recovery. There is a free version but I would highly recommend getting the paid version as I think it includes the app that lets you control everything from outside recovery. This has a smart flash feature for those who're left with s-on from the HTC unlock and hboot 1.5. It will let you install kernels like you normally would through recovery.
Only problem is, with any sense 3.6 ICS Rom you will have to use chads HTC leak kernel or else you will get boot loops. However 3d and USB mount won't work but you can always mount through recovery.
If you don't want to deal with all that, you can try the wire trick method to get s-off on hboot 1.5 so you can use the stock kernel on sense 3.6. It's stickied here in development. Hope all that helps.

The thing about the 3d is that its a way better phone than 4G. Except for camera of course. But I think all the 3d's come with S-on and H-boot 1.5. HTCDEV really helped me out. When u root, try WarmTwoPointThree ROM. Even faster loadup time and comes with beats audio
Thanks for the feedback.. Im not going to lie. I love my ole evo but the last time I dropped it Did something to the Battery. I have a 3500 ex battery that if in the phone it will shut off every 10 to 20 mins. that and the charging port is failing. At least I get another HTC.
