[Q] Mobile Data Not Working After Update - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guyz my s2 mobile data not working after updating to ics 4.0.3....plz help

I have the same issue.. with noticing that it was working before but when i changed the ROM it's not anymore ..

Have you tried entering your apn settings manually? Go to mobile networks under wireless and network in settings, click acess point names (I have GB on mine, but should be similar on how to get there on ICS) and enter the apn settings of your carrier manually. (Google apn settings "your carrier")

You have not updated you have flashed a leaked beta buggy test rom .
Check your network settings check your modem .

I think the best thing to do is ignore the answer in post #3, and also ignore the 2100+ posts in other threads dealing with ICS ROMs.
Ah, you've already done that. My bad.

I'm goin' to get back to GB and get the APN's then copy them and install them on ICS hope this works ...

Uh, did you read my post? Just google the apn settings. "apn settings XXX", where XXX is your carrier. No need to revert back to GB.

Quick questions

I'm wondering if you just install a custom ROM on top of it or is there any procedures? I'm using kwbr and looking to switch to VBNROM. I searched but couldn't find an answer.
Also, how do you change APN in WM?

You can install on top of other ROMS but they just remove the previous version
I would go for Task29 before change ROMS. It removes all software and leave you with a blanc phone
Then install a new ROM. This way your sure of a ROM that didnt got mixed up with wrong settings
About the APN just do a forum search .. there are threats explaining wich apn to use

[Q] Cant find my correct mobile network with CM9 based roms

Hi all. First, thanks to anyone who can offer any help. Second, whenever I use a rom based on CyanogenMod 9, my network shows up as Orange or T-Mobile. I live in the UK and should be on Virgin Mobile. My other roms pick it up ok. I can not manually find Virgin in network settings. Any ideas on how I can correct this. Many thanks to any ideas
I use a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100
Flashed CyanogenMod 9 using the noob proof method of Odin that is described on the website.
You do not have CSC for your network .Enter network settings manually .
OR
Flash CPW carphone warehouse CSC as that covers Virgin/TMobile .

Thanks

the problem isn't from settings, i flashed cyanegenmod and 3g was worked. but i don't like it. the orginal jellyBean is greatest.
Some ROMS are not configured to work with your network. Asking your network to refresh your signal usually works. They send you a system message with settings which should fix your data issue. Once installed and you reset your phone you will have data. I have to do it for some ROMS.

[Q] Please help me out ASAP

Hi,
So I downloaded this " http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-revolutionary-s5-v3-buy-s5-t2602543 " ROM and everything seems well until I noticed that there is no signal. SIM Card is not being read by the ROM. I am new to the modding scene and I'd like a clear explanation on how I could fix this problem.
I have a International GT-I9300.
Do you have a valid IMEI? From which ROM did you come from?

I don't know what an IMEI is, but I firstly came from a normal rooted 4.1.2 firmware. It was a stock FW. But now, I use a " aokp_i9300_kitkat_nightly_2014-01-14 ". I'm switching around ROMs to experiment, and I seem to love the S5 ROM except that the mobile network won't work.
I've seen this as a solution ""If you don't have reception (no signal), here's a quick explanation: THANKS TO S0ul_
It means you flashed a new modem over the MG4 one. It's not a bug, that's because Samsung has changed the format of the EFS partition with the MG4 baseband and now the older modems (MC2, etc) can't read the IMEI from the EFS, hence the failure to register your phone in your carrier's network.
To fix this issue you need only to install MG4 modem from aroma installer"
But I do not know how to apply it on my phone.
bump.

You had to backup your EFS partition/folder before, try to search in sdcard if there is folder or file like efs_backup, efs.bak, efs.zip, efs.tar.gz etc maybe aroma did it.

Stop to flash any other rom. first try to search for that file or folder because the first rom you installed uses AROMA and MAYBE it did a efs backup, otherwise try to flash a pre MG4 modem to fix signal.

Don't flash or do anything else like restore an efs back until you guve more info.
You have not answered my question above. Is it only mobile internet you have issues with? Can you still use wifi, make calls, receive calls, send and receive texts? If you can do all of that your efs should be fine and it points to apn issues which can get mixed up when flashing roms.
@raksati
You need to read up on efs thread before giving such info, flashing a pre mg4 modem will solve nothing as it can only read efs V1, if he has indeed corrupted the efs then nothing will be able to read it.
What I think you ment was flash mg4 or above which can read V2 but this is only required if using 4.1.2 or an early 4.3 which no one should be using these days.
