Network/Service/Reception Issue - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I bought an used HD2 (Leo) few months back. My phone was working fine but lately the Network just dies. I need to switch the Phone radio Off and then switch it back On for the network to come back.
It is not a service provider issue as there is no such problems in other phones. I have also tried hard resetting the phone but the issue still persists.
My Phone details:
OS Version: 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
Manila Version: 2.5.20181527.0
ROM Version: 3.14.405.2 (04666) WWE
ROM Date: Sep 29, 2010
Radio Version: 2.15.50.14
Protocol Version: 15.42.50.11U
Sorry I'm a n00b so don't have much idea about this. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

**BUMP** Somebody please help me with this issue..

2.15.50.14 radio gave call dropping problems for some so would be a good idea to try a few other radios (have a link in my Sig for another popular one)
If ou do not have HSPL you will need to install one prior to radio flashing. Use HSPL4 for easy flashing of all HSPL versions.
You could also try a WM6.5.x custom ROM as they are far far better/less buggy than any standard ROM for HD2 & also have many better features.
If your signal is really weak maybe you have antenna problem on HD2 but if signal strong when connected antenna is probably ok.
You could also check SIM is clean & feels a firm fit in SIM slot, if loose you could put som tape on back of sim card which will make it push more firm on contacts & perhaps help !

> My SIM is already taped and it is pretty new so I can rule out this issue.
> The signal is strong and it goes blank all of a sudden so MAY be I can rule out antenna issues as well.
> IIRC this thing started after updating to the latest ROM. So I would like to try out any other Radio version. I clicked on the link in your Sig, it took me to now defunct Megaupload. Could you please guide me to the thread where I can find the Radio also please guide me to the HSPL thread as well.

I have updated link in my Signature.
HSPL4 can be found HERE
I would recommend a WM6.5.3 custom ROM from NRG or perhaps Artemis, the standard ROMs even latest are rubbish compared to a well set up custom build.
Also worth checking all radio settings are suitable & do not rule out operator.
I had similar issue of loosing signal at times & not being able to reconnect easily.
Tried sim in other phone & never had issue, called network & they sure it me or my phone but it was network registration issue linked to handset IMEI ...
Check everything & assume nothing ... hopefully it is latest ROM or Radio simply not working well with your network !

Thanks Mister B for all the help but as I said I'm a n00b and I'm a lil scared to flash to custom ROMs as I have never done it before. I will try to flash Custom ROMs over this weekend. If you dont mind can I please PM you if I need any help?

Try the radio in my sig first & see what results you get before a ROM change.
Could still be hardware or operator but unlikely, if problem persists flashing ROM is a good idea to eliminate software/firmware issues ...
Take care & if you have a TMOUS (t-mobile US) HD2 take a lot more care ... PM me if needed ...
Out of interest what network are you on & what settings ? GSM or WCDMA or AUTO, What bands ect ?

> Installed HSPL4 and set it to 3.03.HSPL
> Flashed Radio to 2.12.50.02_2
Will wait for a week and see if this has resolved the network issues.
Next step will try to install custom ROMs. Can you please tell me some good some ROMs out there? I saw NRG ROM thread and got confused seeing so many different variatons!
I got the phone from UK. Currently using it in India and the netwok is Idea. Network Type and Band Frequency are set to Auto.

what hspl did you choose? it isnt enough to simply say ' i installed hspl4', , did you use hspl4 to set 2.08.hspl? or 2.10.hspl? or 3.03.hspl?
The reason i ask is because 2.08.hspl or 2.10.hspl will cause issues on a 3.14 rom.
Go into bootloader, if the spl line DOESNT say 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl then run hspl4 again and choose 3.03.hspl

@samsamuel
I used HSPL4 and set it to 3.03.
This is what the bootloader says
SPL-3.03.HSPL XE
is this good?
Updated in my previous post about the version.

yea that's fine. It was a long shot, but always worth checking.
I agree with prev poster about 2.15.50 being a bit odd, it seemed to always drop the signal in my pocket where other radios wouldnt, and i remember back when it was first released i read something about it havign mroe agressive power management, perhaps too agressive? Ive used 2.12.50 for several months now, and although it still gets weaker reception than any other phone ive owned, its pretty stable, signal-wise.

Exactly the issue I'm facing! Hopefully the 2.12 radio will solve this issue for me.
I thought this is some hardware issue and never bothered to check the forum. Should have done this long before. But why did HTC make it is so agressive power saver that it would lose the network! A case of not testing the radio properly.

I like the NRG ROM in link below.
http://www.slingfile.com/file/jF7ho7r9tH
I use an older build myself as works better with my lingvosoft language software.
Artemis is also popular but NRG 23699 build was so stable & last WM6.5.3 to work well with split screen apps I stuck with it ... works great for me, highly customizable & stable ROMs.
You would need HSPL 2.08 for this ROM & best to conclude if issue resolved via radio before flashing a ROM.

Day 1: Had no network drop issues today. Will check with people who often call me to check if they got any caller unreachable message to confirm if my phone's network didn't drop out.
Day 2: No Network issues
Day 3: No issues
Day 4: Network dropped out once. Battery drain was less.
Day 5: Unable to connect to wifi!! Is this because of the new radio?
Day 6: Still unable to connect to wifi

Mister B please help me with this wifi issue. Should I try changing it to any other radio version?

Odd, I have heard of no wifi issues with 2.12.50 radio ...
check wifi power settings & perhaps try another radio or ROM.
Personally I would be inclined to get on an NRG ROM & 2.08HSPL & see how things go.
Also don't rule out hardware antenna issues with your device which are improved by stronger performing radio.

Will try installing NRG ROM this week. Will update here on the progress.

Any idea how much will it cost to replace the antenna?

Could be just the case of poor pressure on spring contacts to antenna & just need adjusting ...
As you had no wifi issue before it could be Radio not working well with HSPL version & ROM.
Try another Radio or as already mentioned try Energy ROM with 2.08HSPL & see how it goes ...

Also can somebody please let me know how to do a bad block test.
I found this in one of the post from cajunflavoredbob
Load any ROM onto your SD card.
Boot into CWM.
Go to Mounts & Storage
Format Boot, Cache, and Data
Go back to the main menu
Go to Advanced
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Go back to main menu
Flash the ROM you loaded earlier
Go back to main menu
Go to Advanced
Select Report Error
Once it is done, go back to the main menu
Go to Mounts and Storage
Mount USB Storage
Plug in the USB cable to your phone
Navigate on the SD card to /clockworkmod folder and copy the recovery.log file to your PC.
Upload the file as an attachment to your reply post here for us to see.
What is a CWM and How do I boot into it?

Unstable phone signal.

Hello all.
I can't get a stable phone signal in my QTEK 2020.
I installed WM2003SE 2.06 and I try'd radio 1.18, 1.14 and 1.08.
The 1.18 is the worst for me, the outhers work great in the first Hard reset.
When I first Hard Reset my phone, after the update of rom I get good and stable signal, but when I start installing some stuff on it, the signal becomes instable, and the worst is that if i'm on a low signal area and if I lose signal I have to soft reset the QTEK or enter flight mode and then turn it of to get signal back.
Anyone had this problem too?
I searched this forum and found some posts about this, but no solutions.
If anyone has any solution, please help me with this.
Thanks
first of all after hard reset , you said your phone signal is stable so it should be from the software you install later on. Try to test each software which one made your phone signal bad.
In some case the radio rom is the problem for me the best is 1.12 . I have tried 1.18 1.14 but I got unstable signal so I decide to use 1.12 instead. Another way to solve unstable signal is , the setting in phone option to use manual network instead of automatic and uncheck all the network that it is not your phone service provider network.
Thanks for your help.
I made all the ajustments that you told me, and the bigest diference that I notice is that when I lose signal, I recover it much faster than before, but the signal is still week.
Can you tell me where to get radio 1.12, I never seen it for download and I like to test it too.
Thanks again.
check your email
radio 1.12
I also have signal problems. lots of breaks
Can you please, also send me the 1.12?
Thanks
Thanks for the file.
I will test and then I post the result.
I've just upload radio1.12 rom to the FTP server . Get it there
(in himalaya folder)
I have also problems with my signal stability.
Can I also have the 1.12 radio version
I've tested all versions except the 1.12.
After testing the 1.12 radio, my problem is the same.
I Reinstalled the 1.72 Rom with radio 1.14 and it's a little better, the only problem is that now I have WM2003, not the SE.

New ROM for JASJAM 1.31.305.2_106_6275_1.38.30.10 from Telstra

Hi Guys
I have just noticed that there is new ROM published on www.clubimate.com today.
As far as i understand it is the same OS version as installed on all JASJAMs sold by Telstra, but just with new radio and maybe new extROM ?
What i dont understand is why it says 1.38.30.10 instead of 1.38.00.10 ?
Maybe some additional customizations for their NextG network ?
Here is the link:

Hey, good find!
Dunno if i have time for flashing ROMs today but will have a look at some stage. Lol, dunno what's with the standard OS but nomenclature of radio rom is intriguing.
PS just noticed you're in adelaide. Good form

am doing it now... stay tuned
I extracted the radio rom. It is 1.38.30.10, flashed it with the new Custom RUU works great. I'll test it today to see if there's any noticable difference between 1.38.00.10. Here it is if anyone wants it. When it doubt use Force Using SSPL.

Hi all, I've just installed the WM6 Black 1.2 and Hard SPL 1.10 Oli to my Jasjam, very nice. It took me all last weekend to reinstall the Applications and data.
My current ROM is 3.22.200.4 and Radio Rom is 1.20.31.10. I've just want to know:
1. Is it worth just install this Radio Rom only 1.33.30.10 to improve my GSM reception and WIFI.
2. Also if I install the Radio Rom only- do I still have to reinstall every Applications AGAIN.....
Cheers

About 1000x said there is NO improve in WIFI with radio ROM...this is part of the OS and not the Radio ROM...yes it is worth if you have any older version than 1.38.00.00

It depends on the way you do the install...cause the latest RUU (original one) make task 28 on the end of the install and this mean HARD RESET...I will do my update from SD card...

Well I've been using it for a day now and haven't noticed any huge improvement in the radio but I with more use it may prove to be better.
Noticed the new MS Packet Video player. Guess this is to solve the problems Telstra customers were having with no Foxtel sevices on the Jasjam. I believe it was an issue of Media Player not being compatible.
Also a few small changes to Telstra customizatons. No changes to WM5, still AKU 2.3.
Maybe my imagination, but I thought I used to be able to turn on Flight Mode (radio off) and still have WiFi on, but can't now. Also the tab in Phone options to Update Time has gone, and there seems to be one less tab in the WiFi settings. Guess you can get them back with reg hacks.
Funny how everyone raves about how fast WM6 feels when they first install it... this update made me realise how fast WM5 feels when it is a new/clean install.
I uploaded the Radio Only with the Olipro RUUWrapper so it wont HR after you install. Also NON rapidshare mirror.

As a further enhancement to the Next G (TM) network, Telstra will carry out a platform upgrade which will affect i-mate JASJASM users and will require them to carry out a software upgrade for their handsets. This software upgrade will be available on a CD and on the www.imate.com/jasjamsupport website.
Customers who purchase an i-mate (TM) JASJAM must be informed prior to purchase that their i-mate JASJAM handset will require a software upgrade. Customers must be told that this software upgrade is available on the www.imate.com/jasjamsupport website. CDs with the software upgrade will be available on request from the website soon.
Post the network upgrade, the customer will need to have installed the new software on their device in order to maintain simultaneous voice and data connectivity.
Before the network upgrade, all Telstra i-mate (TM) JASJAM users will be sent an SMS, followed by a direct mail piece with instructions on how to facilitate the upgrade.
Note: the customer must download the upgrade to a PC then to the handset. There is no provision to download directly from the imate site to customers handsets.
Customers are advised to backup all personal data prior to downloading the software to their device.

From that link, the enhancements :
The essential service enhancements include:
• Network enhancement: this upgrade will even further optimize the performance of your i-mate™ JASJAM on the Telstra Next GTM network, taking full advantage of all the latest network enhancements and ensuring you can continue to make/receive calls during a data transmission eg. Direct Push Email.
• Time Zone fix: currently some of your appointments may appear to be shifted forward by one hour. This may have occurred when daylight savings commenced. The service upgrade will help stop this occurring.
• Unknown USB device driver fix: you may have seen an "Unknown USB device" error message appear on your screen. It is extremely intermittent, and only experienced by a small number of devices. The service upgrade will help stop this error occuring.
• Screen Backlight fix: you may have experienced your back light not turning on making it difficult to read the screen. It is extremely intermittent, and is only experienced by a small number of devices. The service upgrade will help stop this occurring.
• Freeze fix: you may have experienced your device freezing up. It is extremely intermittent, and is only experienced by a small number of devices. The service upgrade will help stop this occurring.
• Bluetooth® fix: this enhanced version of Bluetooth® is designed to improve the ability to connect your i-mate™ JASJAM to other Bluetooth® compatible accessories eg. Bluetooth® headset or car kit.

While it's technically OK to use with the radio ROM you created, it's bad advice in general (particularly if you have Hard-SPL installed). The "Force SSPL" option should only be used to upgrade/downgrade Hard-SPL. The latest Custom RUU (V4) has SPL auto-detect. When it doubt, use that!

Return to shipped ROM - Had enough, need another phone

Hi,
I have been having major issues since buying a Vario II on T-Mobile.
I am on my 3rd Vario II handset.
The 1st was returned due to it not returning from standby.
The 2nd had the same issue but also had some keys that did not work.
When the 3rd arrived, it too had the standby issue so I decided to go to mobile 6 with it. It worked well for a few days until I decided to upgrade the radio. Since that I have had nothing but trouble.
I have tried loads of radio stacks 1.24, 1.27, 1.38.10, 1.38.11 and the 1.40.
For some reason the signal stays at (!) most of the time and I had to switch the handset off and on again a few times to get a signal....It is as though it is in flight mode constantly.
The good news is that it no longer has the standby issue.....pity that as a phone it is completly useless!
Before I return the handset I was wanting to flash the original ROM. I spotted that http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
has the UK T-Mobile ROM however I get Error 260: Update Error when trying to install this ROM.
Can anyone help? I love the phone when it works but it seems that I am going to have to get rid of it
Thanks
Aidan
go back and read the wiki some more and look for SSPL...
Most probably you have a >=1.11 based bootloader and are trying to update with a <=1.09 RUU.
Take the NBH from the rom and use RUUwrapper to flash it.
I'm awaiting my 3rd vario II from T-Mobile.
1st- came up with a no gsm error by itself (unrepairable, as spl 1.09 and no KITL)
2nd- screen problems and buzzing noise. Sent this back within a week of receiving it.
I just hope I get another one with no issues and it works...
From the maker
Maybe you can get the original shipped rom from the website of the maker of your phone. Or if T-mobile's website has a forum, you could possibly look there. As an example, HTC is the maker of my phone and they offer the Cingular shipped rom for download. It's worth a try.

Gotta ask, What ROM have you flashed to the device? If you havent tried a newer ROM (the latest HTC rom is good if you dont wanna go WM6) i suggest you give that a go first.
It's very strange what you're having. I mean this is your third and it is not working.
It might be a bad reception you have or software related issues. Many people here have your device and no complains except the ones who bricked their devices while flashing. If I were you I'd do more readings to either help you figure out the problems or go back to original ROM.
Or maybe its a certain app that your installing that is causing the problem.
Any chance of an app list?

(A)If you wanna get rid of it..you may send it to me would like to have another one..
I have tried 3 flavours of WM6 ROMS, Live, Black and Duttys. Due to the problems I have had, I have been running them without any other applications.
I tried to flash using RUUWraper.exe. I extracted the NBH for T-Mobile ROM I downloaded from Wiki and placed it in the same folder as the RUUWraper.exe and started to flash it. It got to 13% and then it failed. I ended up flashing Black 2.0 again to recover it.
I also noticed in Wiki that there is a procedure for reseting the radio stack. I have tried to do as it suggests, using MTTY.exe and using the following instructions
password 0000000000000000
set 1e 1
erase a0040000 c80000
erase a0cc0000 c80000
erase a1940000 640000
set 1e 0
However, my device does not like the password string and complains that it is the incorrect password.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Flash original rom and exchange this phone, it's a faulty unit.
Be extremely careful when flashing radio.
Unit is in being repaired.
Why do you say be careful when upgrading the radio? Is it possible to break the radio?
Thanks

anything can be broken... but it just so happens the radio can cause catastrophe if it fails
Just got done with a Cingular Rep with the same issue (radio going dead all the time) Turns out its an issue with the SIM card wigging around in the phone. The test I tried was this:
1) reboot phone after removing batt and SIM
2) LEAVE PHONE on table. Do not move it.
3) test phone for a while send/receive txt msgs phone calls
4) pick phone. Move it around. Rotate it in all directions move it up and down.
5) retest connectibity.
6)if it busts remove batt and see how easily the SIM moves around in the socket.

ATT 8525 with a T-Mobile SIM - Sorry!

Appologize for posting the thread twice... I wasn't sure if this goes to the Hermes or the Herald forum...
Hello All,
I recently got an ATT 8525 and I'm trying to use it with my T-Mobile (US) SIM. I was able to successfully unlock the SIM and CID with an util/rom I found on this site (I think the post was from Pof). And I also re-flashed the phone with the latest ROM available.
But after about 5-10mins of usage the signal dies and when I reboot it says No GSM. Looks like the Radio ROM gets corrupted. I tried just re-flashing the Radio ROM and that doesn't help either. It works for short while and again the signal dies.
And also, I'm unable to install any of the generic ROMs (Fantastic Mobiz, PVET 40005) Although I'm connected to Active Sync when I run the Step 1 (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe), I get a ERROR [222] : DEVICE NOT RESPONDING. And when I run the step 2 directly (update_rom.bat) I get an cannot update itsutils.dll maybe in use error.
As you can tell I've been messing with phone a lot for a couple of days with no luck and my frustration level is kinda high
As of now here’s where I stand. I re-flashed the phone (Image: 3.62, Radio 1.50) and it’s on the “Tap the screen to set up your windows based mobile device” screen. I plan on leaving it on this screen until I can a good solution.
I would like to get rid of the ATT ROM and install one of those hybrid generic ROM that is not Carrier specific. Any help will be much appreciated. Share your ideas, I’m very experimental 

ok ur going all over the map here.. did u hardspl first? also pvet 40005 isnt a hermes rom.. um try hardspl first THEN flash to a new rom maybe once you successfully do that then try a new 3.62 rom.. i run austinsync buts its naked..just like i like my women. ha. but if ur looking for a full blown try fun_key's rom or blinkys.. these arent carrier dependent
hey man jakeypoo, Thanks for your reply. I kinda figured that I was all over the map.
Okay first appologize my ignorance. What is a HardSPL? I did a search on this forum and I found Hard-SPL-V7.zip. Is this a good version to use? Also when I run the exe, All options are grayed out except for "Force Using SSPL" and "Is it Hard-SPL". What do I select.
Thanks!
Hardspl v7 is the latest version out there, its the one for you to use so that you're safe from future mishaps.
I also have an 8525 on T-mobile... so no worries.
Hope this helps.

2. Installed the latest ATT ROM (ver 3.62 radio: 1.54) I had to do this because the radio on the phone was corrupt (says "no GSM" on the start screen) and couldn't install just the radio rom. kept giving connection errors.
3. Installed Schap's WM6 Pro 3.57 hoping this would get ride of the ATT ROM and my intial problem (no GSM) will go away.
Everything was fine for like 15 mins, then my phone just froze. I reboot the phone and sure enough the radio ROM was gone (no gsm). ;(
Running out of ideas.
1. Could this problem be because I'm using a TMobile SIM on a ATT's radio ROM?
2. Is the radio ROM specific to the phone type and provider(ATT, TMO..)? Is there a generic WM 6 radio rom? If yes, where can I find the latest version?
3. Any bright ideas?
Thanks again!
Current phone details...
ATT 8525
HERM100
IPL: 1.04
SPL: 2.10
ROM 3.62
Radio: no gsm
I was able to flash just the radio ROM - version 1.51. But again after a few hours the Radio got currupted. I also tried to follow the instruction ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems#problem5 ) to use the mtty.exe utility, but I don't get a USB prompt. I get Cmd prompt and if I still enter the password, it says invalid password. please help!!!
And how do I do the USB monitor capture? I could post more details that way. I'm using my girl friend's old razr now and it's painful!
I have used my t-mobile sim on AT&T rom's and other roms with no problem. I would try going back to a factory rom and then changing back to a cooked rom just to confirm its all a clean install. also, try downgrading your radio to a 1.47 or 1.48 (those have been proved pretty reliable across many cell providers).
Thanks Whistler. I'm going to start with the 1.48 version and if that doesn't work I'll try the 1.47 version. Not giving up on this.
I found 1.47 to work very well with t-mobile even when traveling...
Thanks Galaxys. I just installed the 1.47 radio. I have fully signal and the 'E', but I can't receive or make calls.
It almost looks like my TMO SIM is not compatible with the 8525. It always works for the first few minutes after an install and then stops working.
I'm very certain the phone is in good condition.
Should I try an older radio version.. like a 1.24 or something ?
Can I install just the tmobile radio rom?
I'm also going to install TNT 2.0 pro so I have the exact same set up as you and see if that makes a difference.
no luck!!!
wow... after all this time and effort still no luck. There's got to be something very basic that I'm not doing right. Senior members any help???
I have spent a lot of time reading the wiki pages and dead hermes thread. Tried out a lot of suggestions listed.
try the way i posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337125

Sounds like your doing everything right, because your flashed rom, radio, and Edge network are all functional. Since only the GSM calls don't work, I would go back to Tmobile and get a a new Sim card installed (they should do this for nothing & test it while at the store).
Also, if U got this device on ebay your IMEI could be blocked. see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322587
Try to flash the entire UK T-Mobile ROM, then remove the internet settings and install the correct CAB for T-Mobile.
UK ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337163
PROVIDER SETTINGS CAB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311446
a-h-t1, Junner2003 and galaxys - I'll try all your suggestions.
a-h-t1 - The first 2 steps went through fine. While I install the radio ROM as part of step 3, the installation doesn't go past 0%
I'm going try Junner2003 idea now. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.
install stops at 11%
Hi Junner2003,
I was trying to istall the UK Tmo ROM you suggested and it stops always at 11%. I've had this problem with other ROMs as well (12%) but after a few tries the installatons goes past it, but real slow. Any ideas?
Thanks for sending me the links... very helpful!

Hi Galaxys,
I don't think the IMEI is blocked. Or maybe it is, how do I find out? I don't have any of the symptons listed on the link you sent (don't hear the beeps or anything).
I originally had a T-Mobile wing. The LCD screen cracked (don't know how). And ofcourse TMo won't replace it.

I got 8525 from my company. It's almost new. Only used for a day on an AT&T SIM. This phone is free, and so I really don't have much to lose... so all out experimenting
Tried insalling from the micro card, even that stops while installing GSM. pissed!!! Why would the darn Radio not update???
this may sound stupid but if all else fails, why not...
my mda use to have signal then it would just disappear as well after 15 min or less..
turns out the sim card wasnt pressed in properly.. so i just put a piece of paper on top of the sim card to make it thicker and get the battery to press it down harder. and it solved all my problems...
just a suggestion..good luck

See this post here for a possible reason (and technical explanation/theory) for your device stalling during radio update. The fix suggestions at the bottom of the page may help you - in particular :
Try cooling the device down a bit before flashing as the PIC chip (where your radio ROM is held) may flash more reliably/easier when cool. Don't ask why - that's from it's datasheet ;-)
The paper on the SIM card is a good idea too to rule out dodgy SIM connection - Great idea r0mmel

I have US Cellular also. Read the thread on how to unlock you phone. You will need to update your radio also. DCD 4.1.2 is the one I run and it is very good.
Start by going here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Titan
Or this post is more orientated to USCC
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24511&highlight=uscc
Howdy,it's a breeze, just a bit scary at first but well worth it. Holla out if you need some step by step. 1. get good unlocker, 2. update radio to the latest dcd's offered. 3. upload carrier (uscc, right!) it will say cellsouth but dont worry, its just a name we can fix later, then load dcd's 4.1.2 rom. Set your GPS com to 4 and baud to 4800, dont let window automatically manage, too slow.
I was wondering how your coming with all the reading. I just ran accross your post and reminds me of doing this to my uscc titan last weekend. Always write ALL of your information from EPSt (##778 send) save it as a text on your computer, easy access....If you lose any info, I've got it here on mine. Let me know how it goes, really hard to mess up, dont worry....KC

Hi friends ..
I have a problem hopefully can help me, is the following.
I have a 6800 Titan U.S. Cellular and try to upgrade the ROM DCD 3.2.6 but made the mistake to put the ROM in the SPL 1.07.000 or blocked. When completed the installation of the ROM, my phone restart but it did not run the windows just stays on a black screen that says HTC Smart Mobility and no more progress is just there. in the bootloader (3 colored screen) shows that the SPL is 1.07.0000 and even more I've tried the stick olipro 2.40 to unlock the SPL and will not let me.
When you start appearing in small red letters that said R 1.64.00, D 3.2.6
Please help me no longer do that, I think it broke. !

Try updating it via the micro sd card. I believe this happened to me once and that is what I had to do. Just follow the instructions in one of the previous links.
And the radio is to old for that rom.

when told by the method of the microsd card, refer to NueSPL 2.47? because if so, for that is required to synchronize the phone with active sync so to put the exe in any folder of NueSPL and then format the card in fat32. The problem is that my phone can not synch with the active zync, that otherwise can have a flash card 2GB believe that this affects the flasheo through titaimg.nbh because all that I have just run is the gray screen with the legend that says "Loading ..."
I too have a USCC 6800 with 2.17.557.0 and 1.64.00 on it. I am new to the whole phone flashing scene, and have spent literally all day today on these forums searching and reading. Did you get yours working, and if so, what did you end up using? The main things I am looking for are GPS support and windows mobile 6.1 instead of 6.0, if that is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Would the upgrade for the Alltell/Sprint versions of the 6800 on the HTC site work with the USCC version? From what I can tell they are the exact same handset, just with different software features by their respective service provider.
i just put wm6.5 on my phone, its running...OK but too slow, I'm gonna go back to dcd 3.3.4 or maybe try a different one.
I am still hesitant of changing anything with mine. I guess I am too afraid of choosing the wrong thing and bricking it. I think I have a pretty good handle on how to do it, but not so much on the various files. If anyone has a good (tested) setup, please share the links to the various files.
Just wondering, are any of you who are having problems with flashing from the Kenosha, Racine, or Milwaukee Area of WI?
If so, I may be able to help you. I go to school in downtown Milwaukee and have flashed USCC roms on my phone many times before. I could unlock your phones and flash them for you as long as you payed me for the time to do so.
Thanks
Dave
