Evo 3D good to -10° C - HTC EVO 3D

Thought this was interesting, apparently the Evo 3D will work down to -15 or -20 degrees (5/-4° F) while the iPhone 4s started getting errors at just +23 degrees.
So if you're ever stranded in the cold make sure you keep your phone warm.

Thanks for posting this. I was just asking myself if my phone was acting crazy because i was trying to use it while I was standing outside in the cold when i got off work. I thought it was just me.

The touchscreen on my phone started to malfunction long before -10c

Used it daily for temperatures ranging from -20 to -10C here in Canada...never really seen it malfunction.

But your not just laying it out in the open allowing it to reach ambient temperature either. It's most likely in your pocket, your hand, your car, etc. keeping it shielded from the cold. But at least you know if you did drop it and it reached -10, it would most likely still work.

Phone should work fine in the cold. Only thing that would cause it to act funky would be some hot hands on cold glass the steam from your hands might cause some random touches or a slight lag...
Like tryin to type a text message with wet hands ...

3d is not for everyone.. takes a little getting used to.. but hope your eyes get used to it.. its a really cool feature.. with all the reviews, it made it seem to suck.. but its actually pretty damn cool.
It get's better once you find the distance that you need to hold the phone from your face to watch it comfortably. I took a bit for me but it's really enjoyable. The 3D effect of the movie is great.
F you all
I say this because I'm jealous and the sprint store I went to view it at hasn't had it at all this week, either they are lying to me or really unlucky. they said they were suppose to have it on Monday.
anyways I really hate the Nexus S i got a week ago and NEED the Evo 3D.
OP.. do your eyes hurt for the 3D movies at the theatres or with those glasses?

welcome to the internet! you can probably answer your own question.
back on topic, I got used to the headaches from my 3DS. I played about 8 hours one day and woke up the next day and had a all day headache. so I'm probably gonna leave my switch to 2D and only use it once in a great while.
get some glasses or sell your phone.
I think 3d is fail at the moment, but maybe later their will be better displays.
Has not bothered me yet but if no root within 30 days then it will really hurt my eyes bad and go back to sprint

Your not the only one but obviously part of the group..it bothers me that people feel the need to post comments on a thread just to.diss the name people call a phone..who cares..I call it whatever i want..u do the same..add something to the thread instead...I've seen a lot of these posts and i think It's juvenile..
anyways I don't really have any complaints..I believe we still haven't seen the true potential of the phone yet..people think the e3d isn't faster than the og but i think the difference will become more apparent in the future .
Define "problems". I've noticed some hardware issues (yellowed screens on three of them that I've seen so far). My friend who has the other one on my plan has the yellowing issue and his phone reboots at random, but the guys at the Sprint store will replace it no problem.
Aside from that, which is easily fixed by visiting the store, my only problems would be with Sense 3.0. It introduces some nice features but honestly, I just think the stock Android interface looks and feels better. That's just my opinion. I am waiting for a CM7 port or some other interesting custom ROMs.
P.S. Almost forgot, the camera gets kinda buggy in certain light settings. It is the auto white balance issue, makes some of your pictures look green. That seems to be a software issue though, so not a big deal. Someone making a custom ROM should be able to fix that. Or maybe HTC will quit dragging their bums and learn to code and test.
All in all I'd give it an 8/10.
this phone has a lot of bugs. camera is really bad, esp in low and high light. the screen becomes unresponsive in spots at times. apps force close a lot. the outside speaker is really low, even after adding volume+.
if the Photon was unlocked i'd trade my evo 3d in on it. for now i'm thinking about selling my 3d and going back to original evo.
oh yeah, signal on this phone is the pits as well.
It aight, its adequate until the next super phone comes out this winter.
I've had mine for a few days now. Keeps freezing where the only way to fix it is to pull out the battery. Has randomly reset on me a few times too.
Are these common problems? I might as well take it back and get a new one.

not me no chance
My biggest gripes with the EVO 3D are:
The 3D camera not allowing me to take photos while the phone is in portrait view. I can't say how many times in the past three days I've been trying to compose some interesting shot of a object in 3D, only to have the camera deny taking the shot simply because the gyro is telling it it's upright. <grrr>
Can't wake the phone up straight into the camera app by pressing the shutter button (or holding it for that matter).
Umm... that's about it. So far at least.

Dude buy a tranny from a wrecker for like 1/4 that price. Usually you get a year or 10k warranty with them. I've had friends do this and 3 years later they are still running strong.

Considering they've already taken the time to take my tranny out, disassemble it, and diagnose it, I'll give them the business. I am very aware that I could get a cheaper and possibly better deal elsewhere, they've already put a bunch of time into it and they should be rewarded. That's just my belief and of course, YMMV.

I would stick my hand in that toilet so fast....
I dropped my old Palm Centro into a cup of water, it fully submerged, and as I pushed my hand in the screen started flashing and then shut off. I took it out, yanked the battery as fast I could(if you had a centro you know how hard it was to pull the battery cover) and then let it dry for a day. The next day I stuck the battery back in and it powerd up nice and worked fine. The only problem was there was a water spot under the screen that dried and it looked like a little smudge spot

HTC Evo is a epic failure....

Sorry HTC but you fail. Lets first start off by saying I was by your side in the beginning. But after awhile you realize how much of a dog the EVO is. Unfortunately most wont realize the magnitude of failure till you own a GS3.
It hurts my fingers typing this cause i was so anti samsung. The root of the failure is Sense and it's resource hogging ways. The broken multitasking is just a cover up from HTC to squeeze some performance out of a already sluggish phone. Just hitting the home button is a nightmare with all the loading it does.
HTC's failure rate has been abysmal, base on what I've seen and heard from Sprints corporate store in Burlington Massachusetts.
Im sure I might get flamed from a few people here, but I just wanted to vent my displeasure with HTC and it saddenings me watching this Titanic sink to the level of nokia.
That being said, those wondering if the grass is greener on the otherside? My answer to that is a big hell yeah.

I agree on the multitasking front, HTC should fix it and stop calling it an "intended feature". At the very least stop reffering to it as multitasking, HTC.
While I don't like Sense, you can't really blame HTC for it. Samsung does the same thing with Touchwiz. What we as customers should demand is either a way to disable these third party resource-hogs or petition them to release pure Android builds for their phones (which I believe HTC did for the Desire).
I doubt the above would happen and I refuse to purchase Samsung phones (based on horrible experiences I've had in the past) so what I am really hoping for is for the next Nexus phone to be build by HTC. Awesome hardware and pure Android software would be pure bliss.
