No. Your data and applications will remain. You could try out this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970543. You flash a kernel the same way you flash a rom (you don't need to do a full wipe though; just wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache when done).

2.2.2 => 2.3.5 Help needed before proceeding

So, I had Froyo 2.2.2 and installed OpenOptimus. I Had to update the baseband for it to work, I did it and the phone works fine. I am very pleased with it, but i want to test mik's ROM for 2.3.5. Do i have to update the phone to 2.3.5 or just flash the zip? I see that it is for old baseband only. Can i return to the old baseband by wiping everything?
Please help me!
you can just flash the zip for mik's rom (but make sure you wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache)
to change to the old baseband:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149530
no u dont need to update ur phone just flash but before flashing wipe all data, dalvick cache, cache, also format all data.
So, do I really need to downgrade the baseband? Or can I just do it like a normal flash?
And wich one is the old baseband?
I am new here, sorry for so many questions

Yes. V10 is old, V20 is new.
v10e: old baseband
v20g: new baseband
so yes
And i wanna know one more thing before proceeding, will I be able to use data transfer? (2G/3G) ?

yes as long as you flash the old baseband
Look what i will do, step by step.
1)Wipe all data
2)Insert USB Cable (if that dosent work i get in recovery)
3)Install OLD baseband
4)Copy Cyanogen to SD Card
5)Flash ZIP from SD Card
6)Reboot
Right?

How much SWAP ?
Ok, partitioning.
if u worry flash the old baseband
then flash back to original froyo rom
then root and bla bla bla
so u no need to worry the baseband thingy at all due to official froyo is running old baseband
I got another problem now...
What/?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
No service. HALP!!!
u running what rom now ?

[Q]Flashing from siyah kernel to speedmod kernel

hi guys need some help here.
i am currently on Checkrom v4 + siyah kernel.
I want to try speedmod kernel to see if it's better for my phone.
How do i do it? Do i have to clear cache or wipe any data?
TIA for the help
Generally when I flash a new kernel I wipe cache/Dalvik before I flash the new kernel, flash the kernel, boot back into recovery & wipe cache/Dalvik again, reboot & enjoy.

hybrom v11 isnt booting (blackscreen) on sk17i

Hi,
i tried to flash hybrom v11 (comming from cm7.2) i followed all instructions but it doewnt boot.
I am getting the android and then a blackscreen.
I also tried to install a different hybrom before, but no chance Does anybody has a hint for me?
Thanks in advance,
ede
Did you wipe cache, user data and dalvik cache?
If you are coming from CM i suggest you to flash a stock rom with stock kernel and boot the phone. after successfully doing it, then you can try to flash hybrom v11
besides, it is good to ask this from boof (the creator) in the hybrom thread
Hi, I have a st15i 4.0.2.A.0.42 with stock firmware.
My system is rooted, bootloader unlock.
How do I install this ROM?
I must first upgrade to build 062?
If so, how do I build on the root 062?

Flash the stock ROM .62

Shutdown.
Flash KRsh kernel v3
Enter Into cwm
Flash HYBROM V11
WIPE EVERYTHING

Hi,
thanks for that, it worked. Is this the kernel you suggest for that rom also after installation? Or would you flash another?

What Version of Cyanogenmod Should I Install?

i got an htc inspire. i want to install cyanogenmod. i want speed, stability, and good batt life. what version of it should i install?
The stable one is most of the times also the fastest
Go to www.cyanogenmod.com and look up desire HD and install a stable version, download and flash via recovery, make sure you full wipe!
Should be 7.1
Hope this helps!
Regards

Yeah that's correct, when flashing any Rom a clean installation is recommended, but make sure you make a full backup with recovery before wiping or flashing just incase anything goes wrong

If you have a Custom recovery, You can flash any CWM package..
Before flashing, you need to wipe data/factory reset, cache partion and dalvik cache to be wiped.
I can easily switch roms between ICS and GB no problem...
Sorry, bad topic
