You might have to flash your old modem since the CWM backup does not contain the modem and most ICS ROM's come with non-compatible modems.
Cheers!

Hello,
I come to you because I have rooted the original ROM and installed a recovery cwm.
I made a backup of my original rom before installing CM7.
I have important business data on my backup of the original rom, I wanted to do a restore, but the phone gets stuck on the "galaxy ace".
Could someone help me?

EDIT: I went in my recovery mode to see the options well u click on advanced restore and then " restore data" ... cheers
Your solution
I know one another method.
U should reinstall another rom wich cointais the APK ext4 in order to transform ur filesystem from etx4 to rfs.
Let it work, it will take several minutes, and then, ur system will be again rfs.
U should then go to recovery, and restore without any previous wipes your stock nandroid backup.
When the restoring has ended, reboot normally ur phone and u will have ur stcok rom as like as u did ur backup.
Enjoy!!
(i 've used it several times, last time yerterday night, i have proved it on Ks5 ks9)

Nandroid backup after flashing a new ROM?

Is it recommended to create a new Nandroid backup after flashing a ROM and setting up the phone again?

Yes, that way if something is wrong with the rom or you don't like something when you flash it you can easily revert back. Grab Con's Flashable recovery helper, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547496 . Make a backup, and when you want to restore it flash the recovery helper first. It will take you to bootloader with a newly created ph98img, let it update and reboot . Now, you will be in recovery again . Just select backup/restore..select restore and then the nandroid you just made . This time it will restore the nandroid including the kernel.
Otherwise, when you restore a nandroid you still have to remember to flash the same kernel that was in the nandroid because with S-On our backups can't restore the kernel.
P.S. just remember to remove the PH98IMG zip from the SD card afterwards or you will have trouble booting back into recovery if you don't.
If on the .22 firmware, dont backup android secure. Also if restoring an ICS nandroid while currently on ICS no need to flash a kernel.

Issue recovering via nand in jellybean

After successfully completing a nand backup in siyah recovery to external sd, The md5 sums either fail or says system wasn't restored. Mainly want to backup the ported rootbox 2.3. A backup of a gingerbread stock rom to internal sd worked. Can someone break it down for me?
If the MD5 fail, the backup is no good and you shoudnt even try to use it.
Its not recomended restore stock roms since the sansung kernel has a bug that can brick your device.
If you have any spaces or odd characters in the name of your backup it will fail Md5 check sum

He said gingerbread stock Rom. Not ICS. But either way, it wouldn't matter if he restored a nand of it as long as he didn't wipe data / factory reset. Not to mention the paradox that he could NOT have made a backup of the fully stock ICS Rom with the stock kernel installed cause you need a CUSTOM kernel installed to get CWM so you can MAKE said backup.

That is quite the paradox and the achievement if he could backup stock ICS with Stock Kernel.

Migrating from 4.1.2 to 4.3

I'm currently on omega 43.3 based on xxemc3 with modem DDDLJ1. Planning to move to a sammy based 4.3 rom. Are the following steps ok? Or do I need to add more
1. Backup up data + EFS
2. wipe internal sd
3. boot into cwm
4. install.
A little confused about the modem. Which one should I install ?
Also once I've moved on to 4.3 in case I need to come back to 4.1.2 what are the steps I need to follow?

Nandroid backup + EFS backup + titanium backup + whatever you back up your sms with if applicable
Wipe data / factory reset from recovery
Flash ROM
Use whatever modem you want, it's not relevant.

the modem being compatible with efs v1/v2 will not cause any issues?

Well yes, that's a given. The modem that comes with the rom will work, or reflash the modem you have now. Obviously without an EFS v1 backup, you cannot use an EFS v1 modem. This hasn't changed. But why anyone would need an EFS v1 modem nowadays is beyond me.

Reason why I asked about the efs v1 modems was that I still haven't moved on to the newer modem versions. Have'nt updated since omega v43.3. Guess it's time to change
Thanks for this usefull post

Well hopefully, you should be able to restore EFS v1 backup after flash and use an older modem. But before flashign latest rom, you could try and flash just one of the latest modems and see how they work for you.
But while flashing the new ROM, you'll get a new modem so you don't need to bother you with a EFS backup. The backup is only here in case of troubles.

Since a new custom rom only rewrites the boot, system and data partition there's no need to backup anything more if you want to try out a new custom rom.
