Proximity and light sensor - Motorola Droid X2

I'm having an issue with the proximity and light sensors. They stop working after a period of time. It's hard to duplicate but seems like it happens more when I use Bluetooth headset. It happens at least once a day. Reboot fixes the problem till the next time. Is this a known issue? It does it on eclipse and cm7 not sure about blur as I haven't been stock since I got headset.

[Q] Problems with Light/Proximity sensor?

Hello everyone, din anyone else experienced problems with the light and the proximity sensor? On my SGS2, after few minutes of intense usage (usually after surfing on net via Wi-Fi, when phone gets hotter) the above sensors get stuck.
More precise, using a Sensor Tester, the light sensor shows either 0, either 16000, whilst the proximity sensor doesn't update values at all (stays at 0) when putting the hand near (or on it) and taking it away.
Again, anyone else experienced? Might be a faulty unit or is it a general behaviour?
Thanks!
Bogdan M.
I have the same problem but with the proximity sensor only
I sent it to warranty, next week I will see the resolution. Hopefully they'll replace it as faulty.
cheers.
Same Here
Sames Here, went back to warranty still waiting the answer
Ya me also facing the same proximity sensor issue from the last few days. the sensor is not working during a call. It started after I updated a game (diversion) and the facebook app from the android market. god knows what is the reason. Tried DHD proximity Recalibration yesterday. it says Kernel not found "- ps_kadc not found.
I will try to reinstall all the firmwares using kies today and see if the problem get solved. will let you guys know

[Q] Proximity Sensor Issues

I am having some problems with the proximity Sensor of My Razr XT 910...
Sometimes the sensor just wont activate In call leaving my display powered On resulting in unwanted taps...This has happened 3 times since I got my phone a couple of weeks back...
Once the sensor knocks off the only way to get it to work again is by restarting the phone...
Anybody else faced this problem with the Razr..
No... If it was a hardware problem I would tend to to think it would do it every time.

Have you tried cleaning the screen? Do you have a case on it that might be overshadowing the sensor? Bubble under the screen protector?

No Case or screen protector...

Yes, me. Exactly the same problem.
The problem disappears after rebooting...
Try turning off "in pocket detection"
It's in settings/screen/
This causes the sensor to be on 100% of the time, which might be a problem.
Otherwise, try updating if you haven't.

[Q] CM7 - I keep hanging up on people!

So since I've moved to CM7 I keep hanging up on people when I am trying to hold my phone between my ear and shoulder because my jaw bone hits the end button. I don't recall this happening ever with Blur. Is there a prox sensor that is supposed to disable the phone when it's up against your face? Where is this setting in CM7 or is it just an issue of buttons being in slightly different places w/ CM7 than with stock? If so, is there a phone replacement app that anyone could suggest?
Have you tried turning the screen off (via the power button) before holding it to your face? That was something I desperately wished I could do on my old Moment, because its proximity sensor sucked, but the power button served double duty as the end call button.
Interesting idea. I didn't consider trying that. I also noticed under Call Settings an option "always use proximity sensor" which I enabled and will try. Maybe my phone thinks it's horizontal when I hold it that way.
It is a vertical horizontal thing I believe. Phone needs to be pretty much vertical for the proximity sensor to come on. You can test this in a dark room. Call a number and watch the sensor illuminate. It should look like a red dot near the earpiece. Then move it towards horizontal. You should see it cut off.
Sent from my MoPho. All typos are the phones fault.
ypu may need to do another fresh clean install. completely wipe everything then flash the rom again?
The "always use proximity sensor " setting seems to have fixed it. I must have had my too horizontal.

I was just going to mention that. I found the setting while tooling around in the cm7 settings. Glad you got it fixed.

[Q] Proximity sensor

Right after I replaced the rear camera in my phone it seems like the proximity sensor died as when I try to call the screen immediately turns off and locks until the call has ended.
Proximity sensor finder indicates that there is an object 3cm away but there is nothing actually there and the indicator is just stuck on 3cm.
What should I do?
I'm on cm9 btw.
Bump
Same issue
I have my stock camera and run CM9 AOKP, and I have similar issues with the proximity sensor. I read somewhere that it was an issue with CM in general and always discounted it as such. I did set up volume rocker wake and use that to wake the screen on call.
Do you use facelock? Try disabling it. Its a well known bug in CM9 that effecting proximity sensor...
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Using the volume buttons doesn't wake the phone.
Note sure what facelock is.
Thanks for the answers.
my wifes proximity sensor started acting up along with many other problems. this all happened right after the last OTA update. I sent it in to moto for repair. I was suprized i didnt need a reciept. I bought it on cl used. went to motos site and they showed me how to check if warranty was still good
Phone was imported so no warranty is available.

Ok, I figured and putting the proximity sensor really close to a light source makes the screen wakes.
Also, using proximity sensor finder I did see that the proximity sensor responds when putting it really close to the light source.
It seems that while replacing the back camera, the rubber cover of the proximity sensor fell off. Is there any way I can replace it or improvise something that might suite?
Thanks.

Proximity sensor problem during calls.

Hi there:
am I the only one that has problems with the screen not coming up (turn on) during calls if you separate it from the ear. And most of the times when I touch the screen it goes back off ignoring the touch command. This creates a great problem when I am in a call and have another call coming in. Also although using the power button works sometimes, it does not work all the time and I end up loosing the call. It is really frustrating and is happening in both CM9 and Official ICS. I think is a kernel problem or a hardware problem. Anyone experimenting the same??
I don't have that problem.. Official ics..

I had the same problem also. Apparently, it happened after I put the screen protector. To solve the problem, I cut the area around the proximity sensor and the no more problems during call. (official ICS)
