Any root/build prop mods to increase bluetooth connectivity quality? - HTC Amaze 4G

Like the title says, we found a mod for better connection/fast data speeds.
Any mod out there to get a better quality connection to my BT headset. I really cant get more than a few feet away before it cuts out.
I have a Motorola HX550

I have the same headset and have gotten to at least 10ft away from mine before cutting out.
My mytouch4G would cut out after what seemed a football field away. Don't matter much to me as my phone is always close to me, but the further away the better I am sure for many.

that doesnt make sense, newer phone, worse connection???

Titan - Bluetooth issues with Motorola S9 Stereo Headset

Hello,
I have the Verizon version of the Titan, with the newest ROM / Radio installed as of 7/5/08. I am having issues with a Motorola S9 Stereo bluetooth headset. Whenever the headset is more than about 2 feet away from the phone, the performance is intermittant. I get about 25% of the signal when listening to Media Player or TCPMP.
Does anyone have any information or troubleshooting suggestions on how to fix this issue? Any and all responses are much appreciated.
Thank you.
I have the same phone/headphones and have the same problem. I believe the headphones aren't meant to be used far away. I keep the phone in my hand but if its in my pocket sometimes the music will cutout. I'm assuming since it's meant to be used in a gym they didn't make it very strong so people don't pair your headphones with their phone thinking its their headphones. I also have a pair of sharper image bluetooth speakers and noticed that I have to keep my phone within 5-10 feet or else I'll have the same problem. Maybe our bluetooth isn't very strong either.
same here
Same issue. I can't walk with the phone in my pocket and the listen without music cutting out. I am returning them this week. They do work well, however, if I have the phone setting on my desk.
i have similar issues, they work great indoors, the problem is outside...
the manual does say that other signals outside interfere with the bluetooth signal, and i definitely find this to be true.
i was able to get a price match at bestbuy, so mine only cost 40 bucks.
I figure theyre worth that for when im on the train or bus, or when im at the gym. signal works fine for those times, just not so great walking/running down the street.
Outdoor issues
I agree, the issues seem to be mostly when using the devices outdoors. When indoors, I can go 30 feet away and the signal is clear without skipping. Outside, when the phone is in my pocket, the signal cuts out every 5 seconds or so.
Any ideas or suggestions helpful.
Thank you.

[Q] AOSP bluetooth/ HTC bluetooth

The bluetooth for sense sounds horrible with loads of static. The aosp bluetooth sounds way better in comparison. Is there any way of getting the aosp version into sense roms? When I had my tmobile g2, I switched between sense and aosp roms. Bluetooth worked from very far away on aosp and the sense roms would barely work with the phone in my pocket. That is the case now with the thunderbolt. I have the BT on my right ear and my phone in my left pocket. I have to pull the phone out and put in my right pocket to work. Ive tried numerous roms, Lighting, bamf, tesla... all the same. I'm pretty sure this wouldnt be the case in an AOSP rom though.
I haven't experienced this at all... Ive had VirusRom RC1B3, Das BAMF, The perfect Storm, and now I'm on Lotus. I've tried Ziggy's kernel, adrynalyne, and the 1.76ghz kernel from RichardTrip.
I use BT in my car with my alpine deck and with a plantronics headset. No issues steaming my music or pandora from my phone to the deck. The BT module I have hidden in the dash to so it's not out in the open or anything.
Could just be your phone? Did it happen when the phone was on a stock ROM ? I had GPS issues on all of the ROMS I tried until I got Lotus installed. Locks on quickly now and is accurate. Maybe try that rom?
I also have not experienced this... I've been using mine with a Jawbone Jambox with no issues whatsoever with either one... I've gone through about 4 different roms/kernels and combinations.
My BT's been working great with TB. Which BT device do you have?
Im experiencing this as well, maybe not that degree though. On my old D1 i could leave my phone in my car, an go as far as close to 50 feet from it before i experienced signal breakup. On my thunderbolt using the same bluetooth as with the D1, about 10 to 15 feet from the phone is max before signal loss. Maybe the bluetooth radio on these phones is weak, or turned down to save power?
I don't have any issues with distance, but the sound quality is horrid. Lots of posts can be found regarding the issue and there's no fix. Simply because most people claim to not have the problem, and no one seems interested in finding a fix. The bitpool of the stock bluetooth stack is set to low as a default (it's current setting is the lowest possible setting) and it needs to be increased. If we could just get one dev to take a look into increasing the bitpool setting this would all be resolved. Regardless if you "don't have an issue", increasing the bitpool setting can only help everyone.
The problem is real, it's not the hardware, and it needs to be fixed.
Yes, it's horrible. I had to stop using BT in my car, and just use a aux cable. From what I've read, there is a setting for BT called "bitpool" that by default on Android is set really low. I gather this is kind of a quality setting, where lower is easy to maintain a connection but lower quality sound.
CM changes this to a much higher setting, which results in much better quality. I really only experience this in my truck, my Sony BT headphones don't really have this issue unless I turn them up.
My D1 didn't have this issue, but my Samsung Vibrant was worse than the TBolt (IMO). Different manufacturers will change the bitpool setting, and I guess HTC doesn't change it from default. I really can't wait for CM7 for a variety of reasons, this being one of them.
That's just my experience.
I have 3 different BT devices paired with my TB; Jawbone Era, Sound ID 300 and Moto H17. I haven't experienced any sound issue, let alone static.

Exactly. CM uses a different bluetooth stack than HTC does. I'm wondering if it's at all possible for them (them being the CM devs) to maybe make us an update.zip to just apply the bluetooth stack and get rid of the crappy closed source broadcom one that you can't make any changes to.
Is the AOSP bluetooth stack multipoint? I connect to phone and A2DP/music with two different devices.

Bluetooth Death Grip

The phone's been pretty good so far, except for the Bluetooth output. I have a Bluetooth stereo in my car that I used constantly with my OG Evo and it worked great; I could play with it, walk around the car with it in my pocket, etc, and it would still play the audio flawlessly. With the 3D though, it has to be sitting out in the open. If I grab it, the audio cuts in and out. Even if I hover my hand a couple of inches above it cuts in and out (which should be cause enough for a replacement since the phone and receiver are literally two feet away from each other). This does not make me a happy panda.
Is anybody else having Bluetooth issues? Can anybody test theirs out to see if the problem exists outside of just mine???
paired with my xps15 ..playing VanHalen walked the 3vo two rooms over( about 50 feet) and still playing ..pissing the gf off tho ...she wanna know why I'm playing around with my new toy ...well ...gotta go ..gnight all
It has been solid for me so far. My happiest moment was when I tagged the button on my Plantronics 655 and voice dialed the wife. Haven't been able to do that since the WinMob days.
Haven't tried to pair mine with my Sony head unit, I'll report back if i can remember to tonight
Thanks guys. Sounds like it might be isolated to just mine. Looks like I might might be visiting Sprint again soon to get a replacement. So sad considering that I just traded in my original launch-day Evo that never had a single problem with it
Just reporting back in...
A2DP on this phone paired with my car's headunit is the most rock solid A2DP connection i've ever had. My epic would occasionally skip, and it was noticible that the driver sped up and slowed down to compensate for connection variations... but with the 3vo, you wouldn't have known the difference if i had plugged it in the 3.5mm jack.
I have mine paired with a Blackberry stereo receiver which is in my glovebox. This morning, I got out of the car to fill up my gas tank and grabbed my phone out of habit. When I was done filling, I tossed my phone into my pocket and hopped back into the car before I realized that I had been moving all around with my audio source. The streaming Pandora didn't stutter once through all of that
I think It's the best connection I've ever had.

I'm having much better Bluetooth quality with my E3D than I did with my Evo. With my OG Evo, if my phone was in my pocket and I turned my head to the right (with Motorolo S305 Bluetooth headphones), the signal would cut in and out. However, with my E3D, I haven't had a single problem with it at all yet.
I have the same setup, no problems whatsoever

Bluetooth Issues

I have just recently gotten a rezound about 3 weeks ago and I have noticed issues with my bluetooth. Not all, but most people I talk to on the other end say my voice is muffled and has lots of static. I can't figure out how to remove it. I've attempted turning everything off (wifi, gps,4g) and the static is still there. I've read about some people having issues on vzw site and HTCs site but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere here. I'm am running the latest ICS leak, which has nothing to do with it because the phone did it before I updated the firmware. This is all on a Plantronics M100 that worked flawlessly with my Dinc. If I can't resolve this I may have to return this phone for something else because I HAVE to have a working bluetooth. If anyone has a bluetooth that works great let me know and ill try it to see if I can get one that works. Who knows maybe this bluetooth doesn't like this phone. Anyways, thanks in advance...

I know what you are talking about. I use a samsung hm3500 for videos and audio because it supports A2DP. But it is also just a Bluetooth headset. Probably the coolest one I have found. Great for watching videos without headphones.
(Sorry that was me babbling)
Anyway, yes I have the same issue with the HM3500. People tell me my voice sounds muffled, but when I switch to the phone mic, it sounds much better. I assume it is just a low quality headset? I only paid #10 for it.
I use a jawbone era. It works the same on this phone as it does on my dinc and my charge.
I mean.. I MIGHT be the phone. Call and get a replacement, if its still a problem then get something else I guess.
The best thing to do to check it, is to call yourself and leave yourself a voicemail. Talk with the headset, turn it off and talk with out it. Go back and forth s few Times.
Repeat with the dinc.. compare the quality yourself. It has been my experience that other people are bad at accurately describing problems.

Quick troubleshooting
I have had occasional problems too on my phone, but the wife's does not.
Check how you hold the phone. There is a mic hole on the bottom edge you do not want to cover with a finger, I did. Take off the back cover and check that the mic hole is open, not clogged.
Does the audio input accessed by the keyboard (for voice recognition text input) hear you and work well? If that does not, the phone isn't picking up your voice. You could also try making a voice recording and playing it back to check the quality.
Try a bluetooth headset or car radio handsfree. If those work fine then the problem is likely with the phone/mic. That will involve a replacement.
Ill try the voicemail thing. The problem is with my bluetooth not the phone mic itself. When I switch to that people say I sound much better. I have tried several different ways of holding it with all the same result. I made several phone calls last night and some were land lines. My wife said one time I sounded staticky and the rest of the time it was better. Other calls I made the other people said static as well. I don't know what would cause it to be intermittent like this.

Bluetooth
I would try a different bluetooth set. I use mine with a bluetooth motor cycle helmet head set and it works just fine. Also with a Motorola stereo set sounds good to.
Ok really starting to get pissed at this Rezound. Got another headset to try and....same results. Callers on the other end say I sound extremely loud like my mouth is right on the bluetooth and the audio is very muddled. Why is this all the sudden a problem??? My other bluetooth worked great with my original incredible. If I can get this resolved I'm ditching this phone and getting something else because I NEED bluetooth. Someone please tell me a headset that works for theirs and I will try that one!

Well I can say the fm radio works way better.

So at work sometimes 3g isn't stable to use Internet radio. Before on the original evo I didn't get good signal. Now with this evo its clear as heck. Same headphones and same position. I guess that's one good thing until lte turns on.

I've found that as well. When I run out of podcasts, I like to listen to NPR when I'm running errands or grocery shopping, and my OG Evo would work, but there would be too much loud clipping static (using the headphone cord as the antenna is really a kludge).
I just tested this the other day while out on my new Evo (with the same headphones). I was expecting similarly mixed results, but I was pleasantly surprised. Still not perfect, but (anecdotally at least) it was much better. It's not a scientific test, but I'm happy with it so far.
