hi everybody,
there is something about the sgs2 which bugs me. on my old nokia i used to listen to fm radio and use shazam to find songs. when i try this on the sgs2, it says something like the microphone is in use by another application. Is it just me or is this a common problem?
i think you should try to use SoundHound. it is in my opinion much superior than Shazaam. cheers

i guess that something is kinda wrong. i think maybe a wipe should be done by your part. but how to find which app or anything else is using your mic?
is your mic working during calls and voice recording?
this is very strange.

so, i connect the headphones, to have the radio working. and here's what soundhoud says: soundhound is unable to detect a working microphone. another app may have locked the microphone.
and shazam says: couldn't tag music.
everything else works fine, and they can tag music if i have the headphones not connected to the phone.

i have never triedn to tag music with headphones on. maybe it is in all devices and the device can only use the inbuilt mic to tag. i have to check this.
but i can't tonight. tomorrow i will and let you know.

Shazam is far superior it tags more songs for me than sound hound and I've got the paid sound hound.

you are probably right, but in this thread we are looking for a solution to tag music from fm radio.
I too had the same error when trying to tag music using either Shazam or SoundHound.
What I think is whenever we start the FM radio, the phone jams (not the correct term, but I guess you got my point) the microphone from usage by any other applications. And both these apps are dependent on the microphone to tag the music. So both fails and gives the error.

If FM record was possible, with the given ROM and libraries, then in theory Shazam or whatever should be able to work with FM.
Is there an FM record function in the stock app ? Or does a common recorder app record FM ? I only have an original Galaxy S and this doesn't seem possible, but the schematics indicate it should theoretically be possible for the audio libraries and/or kernel driver to support this. But that's just theory...

I'm hoping there is a way to record FM radio on my phone. I have an MP3 player from Creative that does it already, but I'd rather use my phone.
I tried messing around with the stock FM player and couldn't find anything that records.
Is there an app? Any suggestions?
I would like this as well as a video editor

IDK if this is what you want but i found this ... http://www.appbrain.com/app/audio-recorder/com.schass.recording.audio
or you could tape both headphones to the mic and play the radio... LOL JK it would work though

not an app but it works... i recorded the radio with an av/3.5mm cable pluged to phone and the other end into the computer... or you can use just a straight male to male 3.5mm jack cord for direct connect if you dont have av to 3.5mm
Hope this helps sorry i dont have an app for that LOL
I have google voice working well for sms and go contacts. I just wondering is anyone making calls with their nook tablet?

I tried with GrooveIP but no luck.
No luck with Csipsimple or Sipdroid. I figured one of these would be the first to get mic/headphone support.
I have tried Skype but when the person who im calling answersthe call it force closes, havent tried any other app.

the only thing the mic can be used for right now is the built in nook functions and voice search. i don't think we will be able to use the mic for anything else until we can get a custom rom on it
I do all the time, download groove ip from the market, it links to your google voice account

I agree with you, though i will give obion a try too, i already have an android smartphone for voip calls but it would be awesome if we could have it in the nook, in fact is one of the reasons i bought the NT and not the NC. It is definitely a must have feature, at list for me .

No, it's surely can be used in any app. Because it's working in Hi-Q MP3 Rec (Lite), for instance. BTW, the sound quality is very good.

I can confirm that as well, I downloaded "Voice Recorder" from the market to record notes, and it works. What gives? if some random app can get access to the microphone, why can't the VoIP apps do it?
I'm trying to figure out how to make a call somehow as well.
Has there been anything new on this front yet - just bought and rooted a NT and would love to make calls with it
I used skype on mine and it worked well.
The closest I have gotten is with Skype or grooveip.
Skype FCs when the party being called answers. Each version I've tried has acted a little differently so I am still hopeful that an update will work some day. With the proliferation of tablets I know they are working on it though not necessarily for the NT.
Everything about grooveip seems to work but the microphone doesn't seem to be recognized and the speaker does not work. The speaker plays the ringing sound while trying to connect (and the volume is adjustable) but upon answer it does not play and the volume function is Xed out just as it would be when you are muted at the lowest setting. Volume buttons do not respond. Other than that there is definitely a telephony link between the NT and the phone being called. This is version 1.1.8 I'm trying.

Would you mind sharing? I am quite interested in getting Skype to work. No success as yet.
Here's a basic (possibly stupid) question. Is the NT headset jack a mic/earphone jack or just a headset jack? I couldn't tell from any of the teardowns.
im not sure but it could be a lib/s missing or existing one that need to be modified, ill try to look into it ask some devs i know and report back
I downloaded textplus and it is SO ClOSE to working! I can use it to sms and I can receive calls and make calls. The person on the other end can hear me BUT I cent hear them!
Also there is twin thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363215&page=10
and one interesting comment
I also have success with iPhone mic + talk-a-play. I note /etc/astound.conf shows both mic channels ON. Could this be part of the problem? Linux Alsa doesn't work with Skype unless you turn one channel off because the 2 channels cancel each other out. Someone who really knows Alsa needs to have a good look at this file. I don't really understand it, but it definitely gives a description for a mic.

I'm playing with asound.conf now, and it seems to be the right place to look. I managed to break HI-Q recorder from working, make 'fring test call' be heard (not me), and even make device stuck from full boot (removing asound.conf from adb shell saved me) =)
I want to ask something intersting. Is here any application for Neo which enables our devices to send or emirate or stream radio frequency. For example we start to stream one song on frequency 108.00Mhz and turn our radio on and listen that song on radio. I saw lots of little accessories for car with usb for that but I want to know is it able to have that on Neo. What is with hardware support, is it possible? thanks
Someone did something via Bluetooth.

Welcome, i have problem with bluetooth headset
When i click the call button it works very well but when i click pause/start/forward/backward buttons the phone doesnt catch that everytime i sometimes need to click 10 time to let the phone catch it so can anybody tell me where is my issue exactly?
Hi I have the same problem I thought it was just me but I guess not I am clueless why it does that
Did you test it with a different music player?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 2
I have tried Pandora and Google music
And I tried power amp
So no one has any answer?
I have the same setup and the same problem. Did a bit of research before buying the headset, and I realise that this is a common issue. The LG headset works best with LG phones, but not others.
Any suggestions
That is weird, I have been using this headset with my Note 3, and I have not noticed any issues at all. I use this headset with Poweramp, Google player, Your folder player, and n7player. I am not having issue with any of the mentioned player.

Well yea I tried it before asking here but spotify still plays on my earphones instead of playing on my bt device

You want the audio to be diverted into 2 separate audio receivers. As far as I know, androidv in particular cannot do that.
Well, samsung, note 9 in particular, can do it so I was kinda wondering if its a software thing that can be made available to other android devices.

Samsung got the "separate app sound" but I kinda switched to mate 20 pro. It's a lot better except maybe the speaker and the "separate app sound" feature.

Oh man I really wish the devs would look into this thread. It would be so cool if this is actually made available to all android with bluetooth 5.0
I'm also searching for a porting of this feature since forever
