lingering update - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have updated my tp 3 times now but the update does not hold. I have rooted my device and use rootkeeper to back it up. Whenever I do something that requires root access after an update it will immediately prompt me to update once more. This is very annoying. Anyone else having this problem?

You know there are several updates in line from box to current? What does it say the version is in settings, about tablet?

I have had my prime for a while now and I try keep up to date. It says its version 9.4.2.13 yet it prompts me to update anyway. It will say it is up to date just after I update it but when I access the root of my device an update will pop up again.

Well bud, update to .14 cuz it be out.

[Q] OTA service/process?

Is there a specific process/service that could be blocked/delted/frozen to stop the OTA from constantly happening? Or is it quite deep system within the Android OS?
I'm currently running the first release of GB OTA, then went ahead did Revolutionary and then flashed SU to get root.
Now its not a big deal when the phone does try to update, it just fails(not sure why it fails, but I just get the "!" and blue android icon). I just normally go in hboot and wipe the cache and good for a few days.
Well now its been really like trying to get the OTA going. Every hour or so it re-downloads it and try to install it. Only 8am, and its tried 3 times since 6am. :/
I really don't feel like loading a custom rom(kinda afraid I might brick it), i'm quite happy on how my phone is setup now. Other then this minor annoyance it never crashes or locks up.
Have you tried freezing
com.smithmicro.dm or HTC DM?
I have so many apps frozen that i can't remember which it was. I also don't use stock home, which freezing some services causes issues with.

Done all the "fixes" but still no OTAs. Now what?

I have done the ratchet update to add my serial number and it shows up. I have manually updated my tablet to .11, then to .11.1, then to .13, and then took it back to .11.1, but I still have a BOKAS tablet that does not get OTAs.
I have fully read the Serial No thread, I have PM'd Gary and gotten no response, I have called the ASUS helpline and been offered an RMA.
As it sits, I actually never have had the WiFi, BT or GPS issues and I don't have bleed on the screen. I love the tablet, but would like to get the updates.
Can anyone tell me from that list/rant above if I have missed anything? Why don't I see the OTA. I am in Minnesota, so I should have gotten it by now, right?

Manually update it to .13 and then go to Settings > About Tablet > System Firmware Update and click 'Check Update' and it should say an update is available please check system tray or something like that and the update will be there.
I will try that again and let you know what happen
Even though I did it this way once prior, for the sake of completeness and to be sure I am following through on everything, I just did a manual upgrade to 9.4.2.13 and then got the Successful Upgrade message.
I went to the Settings and checked there, it shows my serial number and also that my build is .13.
I then went to System Firmware Update and selected Check Update. Reported back "there is no update available for your device currently"
Again, to make sure that it was not related to network or firewalls or anything like that, I connected to a different WiFi LAN and it still says "There is no update available for your device currently."
I was able to get the .14 build from the ASUS website so I have downloaded it from there, and will be manually updating again, but I would like to be able to get this running automatically at some point.
11.1 couldn't update to .13, according to various reports on xda because it was a "beta build" to correct certain issues with .11
.13 to .14 should have worked assuming the update checker could contact Asus' server. It's been known to act a bit wonky at times so that refreshing the update checker doesn't necessarily work.
yeah, well i tried everything, including clearing out the DMClient but it never worked.
I went ahead and updated manually to .14 and I will wait to see if it fails when the next release comes.

Update .21, Google maps pathetic performance!!

Strangely enough after update .21 and after the latest Google maps update, it keeps crashing without any error message. Now I even tried removing the maps update and cleaning up the cache and data from setting-apps, still no use. Since it crashed even after restoring previous version of maps, I suspect issue with prime update.21, had anybody else faced the same, any solutions?

Yes, same issue here. I found that a reboot seems to fix the problem for a few days.

Change the damn heaadline for ****s sake, it looks like something positive on the surface!
Changed subject. More to the liking, is it! Eh!!!

I have the same frequent google maps crashing problem. Reboot helps for a day or 2. Currently I have ver 6.5.0. The crash happens frequently, and no error message. ANNOYING!!!

Maps been working fine for me here... even checks me in fine on latitude when i get home or to work...
guys, the crashing has nothing to do with the .21 update. I had this happen to me prior to updating and after doing so. I actually did a soft reset after updating to .21, and I have not have any google map issues since.
FYI, A soft reset DOES not erase any data, think of it as a nap during work, it rejuvenates the Prime

Worked fine for me after taking the OTA update to ICS.
Works for me as long as I don't use a password.
SHVR MAXX
Don't have the OTA update (one of the ICS leaks) but it works fine in WiFi mode with a password for me.

Foxfi fails on Razr after ICS
I am having issues with my Moto Razr since ICS. Foxfi only runs after a reboot. If Razr has a fresh boot, FOXFI works well. That's stinks....
If it runs for a while, and disconnects, (accidently or for a reason), a fresh boot is required to restart FOXFI. Annoying....
Error message received: Foxfi fails, use Bluetooth.
I go to Bluetooth and that fails, too.
I stop all Foxfi services, try to connect still fails.
So, both options fail unless I reboot phone. This does not happen with other members of my family using Samsun, or older phones. Any ideas?
Also, prior to ICS I was able to us Razr native/stock Bluetooth to connect my phone's 4g data to my Ipad3. Now, that fails too, as does FOXFI..
Am I doing something wrong? I don't think so, and so many others on the boards are having similar issues. I've tried so many of the ftxes and add ons, and nothing helps,
I've notified Foxfi but have not yet received any response. Any help is appreciated.
Unrooted, .211 OTA. FoxFi works fine, with or without password set. If anything, it works quicker than on GB.
I hate to say this, but after I OTA updated to 4.04 my phone wasn't running to well - I did a factory reset and used Titanium Backup to restore my apps and system settings and my phone worked very smoothly... Perhaps a reset will work for you?
Okay finally upgraded to the official OTA version of ICS. Tested FoxFi and it works perfectly, both with and without a password.

Boom!
skadoosh!
Sorry for such a slow response. Oddly enough without changing anything about 6 days later it just started working. Kind of odd.
Not working for me. I am on the latest ICS eu leak (Epsilon V2). The device is connected having the correct IP address but the device cant connect to the internet.

Have you tried installing the FoxFi add on package from the play store? I don't know if it will help, but I have it installed and it works for me.

Update android doesn't work

I've tried to update android time and time again, but nothing ever changes. I'm still running android 2.2.1 on my HTC thunderbolt. I've factory reset more than once and now I've rooted to see if that would change anything. In the screenshot below you can see that on the status page it never seems to recognize or put in my phone information. It's correct under about phone software, but not when I try to go to the status page.this has been like this since I bought the phone when it first came out. I'm thinking it might be the reason why I can't update. When I select check update a dialogue comes up that says something like "checking for updates", then it just goes away and doesn't do anything.
Thanks for any help.
