Done all the "fixes" but still no OTAs. Now what? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have done the ratchet update to add my serial number and it shows up. I have manually updated my tablet to .11, then to .11.1, then to .13, and then took it back to .11.1, but I still have a BOKAS tablet that does not get OTAs.
I have fully read the Serial No thread, I have PM'd Gary and gotten no response, I have called the ASUS helpline and been offered an RMA.
As it sits, I actually never have had the WiFi, BT or GPS issues and I don't have bleed on the screen. I love the tablet, but would like to get the updates.
Can anyone tell me from that list/rant above if I have missed anything? Why don't I see the OTA. I am in Minnesota, so I should have gotten it by now, right?

Manually update it to .13 and then go to Settings > About Tablet > System Firmware Update and click 'Check Update' and it should say an update is available please check system tray or something like that and the update will be there.

I will try that again and let you know what happen

Even though I did it this way once prior, for the sake of completeness and to be sure I am following through on everything, I just did a manual upgrade to 9.4.2.13 and then got the Successful Upgrade message.
I went to the Settings and checked there, it shows my serial number and also that my build is .13.
I then went to System Firmware Update and selected Check Update. Reported back "there is no update available for your device currently"
Again, to make sure that it was not related to network or firewalls or anything like that, I connected to a different WiFi LAN and it still says "There is no update available for your device currently."
I was able to get the .14 build from the ASUS website so I have downloaded it from there, and will be manually updating again, but I would like to be able to get this running automatically at some point.

11.1 couldn't update to .13, according to various reports on xda because it was a "beta build" to correct certain issues with .11
.13 to .14 should have worked assuming the update checker could contact Asus' server. It's been known to act a bit wonky at times so that refreshing the update checker doesn't necessarily work.

yeah, well i tried everything, including clearing out the DMClient but it never worked.
I went ahead and updated manually to .14 and I will wait to see if it fails when the next release comes.

Market has a mind of its own

For the last few days, the market has worked perfectly at times and other times it will take 2 minutes just to load the first page. I'm on wifi so I don't believe that connection is a problem. Also, when I receive a notification for app updates, it will go to the downloads page but will be blank. Does anybody else have this issue or know a way to correct it?
btw, I'm on leak v3 if that matters
hey ive been having the same problem for awhile now,im also on leak v3. but im not using WIFI n when i do it still happens, dont know what it is. maybe others have had this problem but thought nothing of it,we'll see
rebooting the phone and going straight to the market seems to fix it temporarily.
-scratch that, I can get into the market but can't update anything.

[Q] Unable to check for updates

When going to the update page in the settings, the update button is not enabled and it just hangs there. There's no error message or anything. Does anyone else have this problem? I have ICS and am not experiencing the serial number unknown issue.
Bumping this thread. It's still an issue. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
I just ran it and it works fine on my Prime.
Has it worked before? Did you change any settings?
FYI - I am also in Pittsburgh but no issues. You may want to check that GPS/location is enabled, so it doesn't appear as if you are out of the country. You can also download the update from their support site and manually update, but you will need to get it resolved eventually.
It worked fine when upgrading to ICS. I had absolutely no problems. All GPS and location services are enabled. No settings were changed that would stop me from checking for updates. The tablet isn't rooted, by the way.
I'd prefer to not update from the support site, because as you said, it needs resolved.

lingering update

I have updated my tp 3 times now but the update does not hold. I have rooted my device and use rootkeeper to back it up. Whenever I do something that requires root access after an update it will immediately prompt me to update once more. This is very annoying. Anyone else having this problem?
You know there are several updates in line from box to current? What does it say the version is in settings, about tablet?

I have had my prime for a while now and I try keep up to date. It says its version 9.4.2.13 yet it prompts me to update anyway. It will say it is up to date just after I update it but when I access the root of my device an update will pop up again.
Well bud, update to .14 cuz it be out.

[Q] 4.0.6 killed GPS

I've tried everything but no matter what I do I cannot get GPS lock.
In GPS Status I don't even see 1 satellite!
Whilst the lock time was slower than I would have liked in 4.0.5 at least I could get a lock (eventually).
I never tested my 80 G9 with Honeycomb as I upgraded to ICS on day one.
Are the Archos dev team aware of this issue and is a fix in the works?
I don't really want to reformat and revert back to an older version.
Lot of users have complained about GPS not working in ICS. Archos seems to think doing a Android reset from the system menu resolves the issue. Some others have had success with stopping the google maps "service" using the system monitor app.
You could try this, but my feeling is this will also be temperory until there is a proper fix from Archos/Android.
If your hardware is okay, then either one of the above should get you a lock, but not sure if that would remain forever ( ie, you may find that the GPS does not lock after few days..

Thanks for the reply.
I'm new to Android so can you please explain what you mean by "Android reset from the system menu"
{Edit} I have found the reset option, but I have about 2Gb of apps I'd rather not have to re-download and install.
I have already tried killing the maps "service" and that didn't help.
is ICS working properly for ANY device out there LOL!
this is yet another reason im not updating just yet. not that i'll use gps, but damn there seems to be a lot of bugs.
I'd noticed that yesterday (running surdu_petru's rooted 4.0.6-update), but a reboot brought it back. A couple of minutes ago, my 80 G9 was seeing 11 satellites and using 6 in GPSTest.
It's weird how some people have no problems and yet others have no end of problems.
Would love to hear something from one of the Archos dev team as to whether they are aware of a specific issue with 4.0.6 and GPS connectivity, and whether they have a fix planned.
I'm wondering whether I should wait for 4.0.7 and hope for a fix or whether I should just go back to 3.2.80
Question : if I do decide to reformat and install 3.2.80 will I forever be nagged by the Archos update to install 4.0.x ?

[Q] Missed update also notification pulldown

Ok, so I'm on at&t and I got the notice for the 4.2.2 update. I wanted to do a factory reset before the update, which I did, but now when I go into settings and check for updates it tells me there are no update available. I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to whats going on and how I go about getting the update now. What's even more frustrating is the 24hr wait time between update attempts. Is there any way around any of this. By the way I am stock and unrooted.
Also a secondary question is about the notification pulldown. I don't know if it's just coincidental to this factory reset, or something that I amazingly never noticed, but I can pull down the notification tray from the lockscreen. I can't believe I've never noticed this before. Is this supposed to behave this way? Is there a setting that I've missed that was reset? It's annoying cause it easily unlocks when I put the phone in my pocket. I can't believe it's supposed to work that way as it completely defeats the purpose of the lock screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I had your exact same problem. I decided to follow the suggestion @grigoriisi provided and it worked. Step by step, this is how I pulled it off.
1- I reset the phone to stock settings, after which point I suffered your same problem. I checked for updates and it said my software was up to date.
2- I went to the Time/Date settings and changed the date by 1 full day. By this point, I checked again for updates and it found one and started downloading the small update.
3- After the phone rebooted, I checked again for update and it said my software was up to date.
4- I then moved further ahead in time by another full day. After this, I checked for update and it found the full update and began downloading it.
5- Afterwards everything went as expected. Once the phone was up and running (And fully updated) I reset the date to the correct one.
Note: Some networks (as in Office WiFi or not optimally configured home networks) may prevent the phone from reaching the update server in the first place. Check for the update using your LTE connectivity, and once it starts downloading switch to the WiFi.
the trick of checking for the update on LTE worked! Switched over to wifi after getting the notification and am updating. Thanks!
