Need advice - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I just got mines 3 days ago. I know the pros and cons of rooting since I have my Evo rooted( see my signature ) . Should root my Prime or not ? I am I missing much ? The thing is, I know how time consuming can be. Or can I just root and dont flash roms , just to get superuser and Titanium back up and such ?

Rooting was actually very easy thanks to these guys...

But as far as I know you can't install new ROM's just yet. But for running apps that require root such as TB, it works great.

Best Root method

Hey guys my buddy has his Verizon Galaxy s (Fascinate) and wants it rooted so i can throw miui on it for him. What the best most current way and if theres a one click that would be great. Thanks a lot guys, enjoy your new years!

Find my guide in the general section and look up section5
You do not need to root to install Miui.
There are reasons to root a stock rom, but there seems to be a general misconception on why you root, and when to root.

This!!! I missed the miui part....yea no need to root if your flashing a custom rom!!!
I think a lot of people are used to other phones like HTC and Motorola where you have to be rooted to flash roms. I thought it was weird too when I first got the fascinate coming from those other brands. I like that Samsung leaves the security essentially wide open on their devices.
Yeah I have a evo 3d running miui and my buddy wants it. What's the way you guys recommend

lol wow i had no idea that you did not have to be rooted, like the above guy said im a HTC guy and its just the way im used to doing things.
My buddy is jumping up and down right now like a little douche nozzle.
If he still wants to root, SuperOneClick is the easiest. Just make sure usb debugging is on.
Just Odin cwm4 fixed for cm7. Then flash miui in cwm. Su is preinstalled on miui.

Totally agree, normally I like to get root straight away but with the Xperia S I just feel no need at present.

Totally depends on what you wanna do with it.
I needed root voor titanium backup and root explorer. If you don't need this then there is really no need.
At the moment I don't see a reason to root. The rom is great and stable. The only reason for rooting I see now is if you want to install/flash a host file to stop all the ads.
There's also a nice framework mod out now with quick toggles in the notification bar. Like there is in cyanogenmod.
I have still not rooted the xps. Will probably do it when some good custom roms are out..

If you use a rom does that change the phone completely or just a part? Or does it only add something?
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
It depends on the Rom. If CM9 or even CM10 reaches the XS then you get a completely different user experience. If you use a custom rom based on the existing XS NXT skin then it still is Sony interface.
I have not yet needed to root yet myself either.
I would wait for ICS before i do any rooting. Only reason i would root is to get rid of bloatware and those annoying ads.

.21 update - No Root For You!!

Is there even anyone trying to root .21??
I really do not want to unlock.

Yes there are ppl TRYING to root but it will take some time. Unlock or be happy what you have

Shame to be in this boat again (no salvation from voodoo here), especially when this thing has such a nice stock ROM. Alas, with the avail of unlock versus effort needed to root, I expect we'll have to flash, flash, flash.

[Q] To Root or not to Root? that is the question?

Ok can you lot give me a few good reasons to root my transformer prime and install a new ROM. I've been looking at some of the ROMs and they all look kinda.... **** lol no offence. they just look to much like the prime unrooted but with a few changed to colour really :/
i rooted my SGS2 and installed the muiu ROM i think its called and thats great i llove it. it looks different and that's what i want
someone prove me wrong please
Do you want full control over your device? The ability to get rid of the asus crapware and run your own things? I too rooted my SGS2 after about a week of owning it and haven't regretted it.
With root you can install adblockers, backup tools (proper ones), overclocking
If you're technically minded and want to get the most out of your money then root, if you don't want to risk damaging your Aluminium piece of sexy then don't.

Aokp is gone but that was the best.

Rooting is definitely the way to go, doesnt affect your ability to get ota's and what not, if you want to unlock i say wait a lil bit longer to find out when or if ASUS is going to release nvflash to us, granted it definitely looks promising giving Gary Key's latest update.
That said if you want to unlock you can still get AOKP from jermaine just not from here, whether he is still supporting the rom is an entirely different question
hmmmmm ok i dont know i suppose i could just get root access and keep it as stock then. im going to have to find out how to root this now sigh lol research.. i'll look it in about 3 hours lol
I would highly suggest you root it since if any things happen you can just factory default the tablet and it'll be unrooted
So there's really nothing to loss rooting it
Just make sure after you root your device you backup the root so you don't loss it after you update the prime
lol you lost me after backing up my root. =/
i just tried to use sparkyroot but it doesnt seem to be working. im going to look at other methods.
dont think i can root it can i im currently on 9.4.2.21
Check the general thread, there is a way to downgrade and then root it without unlocking.

Oh well i will search more then, cause i thought that stock jelly bean couldnt be rooted, if i can what software should i use? Thks
No root to date. Had you rooted it prior and usd some rootkeeper tools you might still have root now.
Im sure there will be something out in due time.
