Someone is finally making a car cradle for the Touch Pro 2 that Verizon and Sprint (Not T-Mobile) should be able to use and its cheap. I emailed the U.S. seller and he said it fits though it is really for the GSM Euro versions. No surprise though as it is passive only. Heres a link to their website: http://www.buygpsnow.com/HAiCOM_Car_Mount_HTC_Touch_Pro2.aspx
Anything is better than a squeeze cradle
I have one ordered so will update a review but at $12.95 and $2.50 shipping kinda hard to go wrong even if it only lasts until Proclip gets off their duffs.
I found a coupon code for free shipping. It is hit or miss apparently but worth a try. Code is 430.
Edit: Code did not work

nice find. please let us know how it works. i have a vzw tp2 as well and have been searching for a car holder. right now it sets on my passanger seat...
Just a quick question, why do you think squeeze cradles suck?
I've not had one but was considering a universal mount from Arkon, which is a squeeze cradle.

Its been years since I've seen a phone thick enough that the jaws need to be anywhere near as deep as the vast majority of the squeeze cradles on the market yet they still make them that deep, at least the ones that are big enough to hold a PDA. This would not be much of a problem except they use soft foam in the jaws that is almost invariably also very thick. When you squeeze it tight enough to keep the phone from falling out, it has a tendency to roll the foam right down over the screen making it difficult to use things like the slide tray in Touchflo 3D. It is also difficult to remove the phone as after a short while the teeth of the jaw start wearing down and it sticks closed making the button hard to push. And thats with a good cradle like and Arkon, which is what I have been using. Lesser quality cradles are even worse. There are better squeeze cradles that address these issues but they are all for Iphones. Saw a nice one the other day with nice thin jaws and rubber grips that fit the phone perfectly with a friction lock instead of teeth and a cam but it had and Ipod cable and FM transmitter built in making it very expensive at like $69. Looked real nice too with a nice shiny finish like the phone has but at that price, wasn't going to buy something that I had to cut up to use. To bad the company did not make one with a USB cable instead. Unfortunately most of the good stuff is made by companies that drank large quantities of the Steve Jobs kool-aid years ago.

Thanks for the response, very good reasons not to go with a giant squeeze cradle.
I've been looking at this mount http://www.arkon.com/phonemount.php
Curious if anyone else has used it with the TP2.
My phone works splendidly with a $15 squeeze cradle from Walmart. It's not too thick, secure, and does not obscure the screen.
I have an old Treo 650 Pro-clip mount that works perfectly with the TP2. The phone slides in securely and comes out easily. Obviously no active connection but it works great. I put double sided tape in the back of the of the mount and it holds my Fuze perfectly as well.
yo Techitrucker,
you ever get that car cradle. i am really thinkin bout getting one, but would like to hear some first hand experience with it, especially since we both got vzw

Just came in the mail on Saturday. The cheap shipping took one week to the day. Quality of the cradle is very good. The clip at the top is actually spring loaded, not just plastic that bends back, like the Seidio holsters. It is removable if you won't need to use the cradle in landscape to make it easier to take in and out. The cut out at the bottom is definitely for the CDMA phones. It should work with the European versions also. THIS CRADLE WILL NOT WORK ON THE T-MOBILE VERSION AT ALL. It is a perfect fit for my Verizon phone. This is not a cradle you want if you need to use the keyboard while it is in. For me that is not and issue and it makes me uncomfortable having plastic wedged between my keyboard and screen anyways. Seems like it would be hard on the slider. The windshield mount is very nice. It has push button friction locks instead of screws for the joints and the rotation is spring loaded so its easy to rotate when needed one handed. The suction cup is very large and has a good positive locking mechanism. It is larger than the average suction cup so if you need a dash disk like I do, you will need the largest one you can find. Unfortunately it does not come with one. Since they are selling this so inexpensively, that probably a place they needed to cut their losses. The quality of the cradle is much higher than the price. The cradle does not use a standard mechanism to join it to the mount so you will either have to use the one it came with or go to the website and see if they have another kind of mounting solution. This is really the only limitation I can find. You will not be able to use it with your Proclip solution if you have one. Any more questions you have, just leave them in this forum.
thanks man sounds sweet. yeah i am just lookin for something to just hold my phone in the car, and this sounds great. thanks for takin the time to review. i am only a couple hours from the websites store, hope it doesn't take a week, hah. buyin one right now.

I had one for my Touch Pro and it was nice enough but it kind of made the gap between the keyboard and phone wider over time. If you absolutely have to have the keyboard open while driving its probably the best on on the market, though to me that keyboard open is just and invitation to disaster. Its hard enough to keep hands off the phone while closed They are not inexpensive by any means. Depending on how you need to configure it you can easily spend well over a $100 bucks. The powered cradle alone without a car specific mount is $60 which is competitive with other powered solutions, but the non powered ones at $40 bucks seem more than a little like highway robbery to me especially since you will still spend $30+ on the mounting solution for the cradle. Still, if you need that keyboard open its the only decent solution at this time. They have no powered option for Verizon yet, but the non powered one they have listed for the AT&T Tilt 2 will work on Verizon and Sprint. The phones are exactly the same shape as the AT&T phone except for the ports on the bottom. If you want a fitted cradle but don't need the keyboard to open while mounted, this is the posted cradle only real solution I've found, but its inexpensive and good quality.
Now if you want the best of both worlds, I was wrong about the Proclip mounts not working with the cradle. They make absolutely the best mounting solution hands down since there is no damage to the vehicle. They have cradle adapters on the site that will make it work and the price is not to bad.
http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionp...egoryid=&p_year=&p_countryid=0&p_leftorright=
The suction cup on the cradle is 3.25 inches and this adapter is 3.5 inches so it should work.
I'm not a fan of clamp holders or suction cups, had enough of unintentional flying objects. I usually make my own holders that slip into a vent clip from theclip.com
http://theclip.com/store/Ultra-Clip-with-Vent-Mount-p-16176.html
This time I found a perfect custom made touchpro2 holder for $1.35! It clips right into the vent clip with just a little grinding on the vent clip. It holds the phone solidly and perfectly positioned for easy phone use and GPS mapping.

Nice find on the holster. Never had a problem myself with a good suction cup holder and nothing bounces like a Freightliner. I find that taping a small vanity mirror to the dash works much better than those little round plastic disks since they where designed to stick to glass. If you have two phones and two holders like I do, the small rectangular one they sell in the automotive department at Walmart will hold both and its only 2 bucks and looks nice. I am not a fan of any kind of vent clip. The two worst enemies of electronics are heat and cold and something as heavy as a PDA is going to break the vent eventually. What I have done in the past is use something like this: http://theclip.com/store/The-Clip-Mount-p-16156.html with a holster or case.
I'm going to get the holster. Been looking for one that faces out like that.
I already have a clip in the car so won't need to take my mount with me when I get off the road.

BRODIT or PROCLIP here in the USA. They have been on the market for about 100 years. at least :-D
They make active, passive, ... versions of their mounts. For almost all available mobile devices. Great quality.

Just spoke with porclip.
The t-mobile version has not been developed and they do not expect it to be manufactured soon.

What? What does an armband have to do this looking like an iPhone. There are valid reason to want an armband. Running or going to the gym are time when an armband might be useful.

Time to bring this thread back from the dead!
I have been looking for an armband for a while. Is that one good? It doesn't have a way to close at the top, couldn't the phone fall out?
I found that same case on eBay for $11 shipped.
http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-ARMBAND-P...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item2558426b9e
This phone is thicker then the iPhone by 4mm but could it fit in an iPhone case? I might swing by the store tomorrow and try sticking it in one.
Yes, the Tilt is tight in the sleeve. But I haven't had any issues with it falling out during my workouts, etc. I think the sleeve actually is an iPhone case, but I might be wrong. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
im looking for one that has another slot/compartment for cash. nothing too big, just a little slot.
I have been on the hunt for a armband that I can use that I don't have to take the bodyglove case off that I use. I have tried a few of the stores around my area and they are all made for iPhone and with the case on they are all just to small.
That armband on eBay looks great. Just worried about water getting in if it started to rain while running. Suppose I going at least hold it upside down if needed till I got home.
I think it makes sense putting it in upside down so you can glance down with it on your arm and read the screen if needed.
Now...any recommendations for some decent application that displays speed, distance run and tracks my route for uploading to Google Earth? Saves buying a Garmin 405!

Try Endomondo - it uploads automatically to its own site and you can extract the track info from there. Mine's been off a little bit with my TP2's GPS chip, but I don't know if that's the chip itself, the software, or the fact that I run with my phone in the pocket of my shorts.
Do NOT buy the "BoxWave Motorola Photon 4G DuoSuit, Slim-Fit TPU Skin Case (Jet Black)" for $9.95 on Amazon.com

Reserved For OP
My Review:
I have the case. I purchased it on eBay. It is very form fitting. It feels sturdy, tough, and yet soft. It is elegant in design and swift in feel. It feeos like it will do a great job of protecting the phone from dings and dents. It is very nice. The only downside, it has a very thin line of demarcation around the sides that make it feel weird. But don't let that stop you from getting a good case. It allows access to all of the ports, HDMI and MicroUSB, and covers the power and camera buttons, along with the volume rocker. It does not scratch easily, if at all. I give a total rating of 4.5/5.0 stars.
EDIT: I forgot to add, it is a pain in the behind to use the power button.
looks like a nice case, maybe would order one so it can take turns with my Otterbox commuter I'll wait for your review
Do you use the sprint car dock? Curious if it fits with the case on. I got the Bestbuy hip case/holder combo and that case doesnt fit the dock with the insert removed.
I unfortunately do not own a car dock. Sorry. I think it may fit though.
I will add a review on the second post of the thread that says "Reserved".
I went ahead and ordered one anyway. I will let you know if it fits.

Well I received my case yesterday... It fits the Mopho nicely however the power button is a slight pain to hit.. If that kernel ever comes out with the slide on capabilities with the four bottom buttons it wouldnt be an issue.. It does NOT fit the car dock but DOES fit nicely in the Best Buy's Platinum Series belt/hip clip and comes in and out of it much easier than the hard case for the Platinum Series. The rest of the buttons seem to work no problem. Just the power one is an issue for me. I may just need to put a little more M A N into it I dunno.. Anyway just wanted to let you all know my experiences so far. Wish I could find one to work in this dang car dock. Nothing does that I can find so far.

Hey guys I have been searching for a long time now for a folio style case that will fit the transformer WHILE docked. Searching here found me nothing.
I have only EVER found two (on amazon) that fit exactly what i am looking for but they have had mixed reviews.
I was just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like or has any experience with the following cases:
This one has a removable section for the keyboard dock which clips on to the main tablet case (which has its own cover for when not using it with the dock)
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Transformer-KeyBoard-Portfolio-MiniSuit/dp/B005JFIS50/ref=lh_ni_t
This one is a single piece built for use with the dock all the time.

Yes and no. without the keyboard in, there is nothing to keep it from sliding out the bottom, but you can hold it. I'll upload a pix when I get home from work showing it if you want. Kind of hard to explain.

Thats why i was leaning more towards the one with the removable part for the keyboard (the first one i linked to).
That way you can use it with and without the keyboard and still be fully covered.
personally i find all these cases aesthetically horrible, i really dont want huge triangular bits of leather on the keyboard corners and the leather around the screen it just makes what is a beautiful tablet look like something out of miami vice!
but maybe thats just me.
LOL i do agree with it taking away from the beauty of the tablet, but im not a fan of sleeves and need something that i can keep on it at all times or whenever i need it. There are so many nicer ones (i.e the official transformer folio, looks smiliar to the ones made for ipads), but they are made for the tablet alone and must be removed to dock it, which sucks.

like i said you cant close the case completely with the dock attached, but when i am out and about i just detach the dock from the tablet and put the whole caboodle in this:

Yeah i remember seeing that blurex one and loved it because it doesnt have a bezel it has less noticeable clips which shows off the transformer much better. How is the hold though? how exactly does it work?
But yeah im not a fan of sleeves. so that would be out of the question for me (although it seems like thats the only option sometimes)

Yeah, BULL3TPR00F, I'm in the same boat in terms of what I want.
I'm not sure if its possible though, you'd think at least Asus would have put something together that did the job otherwise (let alone all the custom makers).
I think that blurex looks like it might be the best of average solutions to the problem. One thing I am concerned with is are the clips gonna eventually loosen/break if I'm constantly switching the tab between the dock and case?
bob dylan, do you have an opinion on that?

i very much doubt the clips would break, i dont know what they are made out of but they are sturdy as hell, i cant bend them at all when i press on them or try and twist them( maybe some kind of metal skeleton underneath? dunno). this case is very well made indeed, the clips do not leave any mark on the tablet at all.

just to clarify, with the blurex case i dont ever take the case off when using the keyboard dock. the case is fine with the dock as the back of the case just folds up behind the tab when the dock is connected and the keyboard is being used flat on a surface.
the only draw back to this case is that it doesnt close fully when the keboard is attached, you can close the tablet and the dock the usual way you just cant close the case fully. so for me i dont have a scenario where i need to take the case off.
when i want the tablet on its own i just take off the dock
when i want the dock attached i attach it and fold the back of the case up behind the tablet
when i want both and i am out and about i take the dock off and put the cased tablet and dock in a neoprene sleeve.
I ordered the same Minisuit case you linked originally, with the removable dock part.
In theory I think this fits my use case best. I have a toddler, and also toss it in my computer bag, so I wanted it protected/always covered, if it is docked or not.
I do really like the case. Its seems OK quality for $30. Having the ability to undock it and carry around just the tablet is great. I found that I was carrying around both the dock and the tablet often because I was worried about something scratching the screen. So Now, I carry just the tablet around with me much of the time, with the folio case protecting the screen.
Typing with the dock/tablet sitting in my lap is much better with the case on. It makes the base less rounded, so it is less enclined to tilt forward in my lap. Plus the corners of the case raise my wrists up off the keyboard slightly, which makes it feel more comfortable.
The case seems to be a little fiddly though.
The hole for the camera on the back sometimes gets in the way of shots.
It sometimes the tablet doesn't want to connect to the dock without undoing the elastic bands that keep the cover secured to the dock. I've just started leaving those un-done, since even if it connects, it seems to limit the tilt angle. And the elastic strap sometimes covers the charging light on the dock. And that works mostly ok. The snaps on the back sometimes are hard to work as well.
Thanks for the detailed description, you mind uploading some pics from various angles and what you were mentioning about the straps and whatnot.
Thanks!

Before I bought it, I stumbled on this review. Check out the 5th image here (also a decent review, lots of pictures)
http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-accessories/6182-minisuit-folio-case-review-tuff-luv-clone.html
You can see the elastic strap that keeps the underside of the case attached to the dock. Scroll a bit further down, and you can see the picture of the two attached together. The reviewer didn't seem to have any problems with the straps. I can make it work ok with them on, but it just seems to make docking a bit harder...and it definitely seems that they get pinched when reclining the screen back fully.
But they're not really needed. If you have the two pieces snapped together, the snaps hold the base piece in place. Really what the straps do is to keep the case from falling off the dock when the transformer isn't docked. And you could put the straps back on in that case...
Cool thanks
I own a real Tuff-Luv case and really like it. Worth what I paid even if that's about double what that clone costs. It does add some bulk.

Yeah i decided to splurge and grab the real Tuff-Luv case off amazon (Veggie leather, never seen the genuine leather anywhere aside from the official site). It is quite expensive but i do believe the build quality will be better than the knockoffs (also the MiniSuit knockoff does not have a cutout for the left speaker, and ive heard of minor issues with alignment of the holes (for cameras, etc).
when it arrives in a couple weeks, i will post pictures.

I was wondering if any has come across a leather "smart-sleeve" for the Z3? I don't think the term really exists so let me explain.
I don't really like cases, but I don't really like a damaged phone either. The compromise for me would be a leather sleeve type of thing - like this random one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Lea...lePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item4627d52959
But having to take out the phone just to check the time or see who is in fact calling would greatly decrease the protectiveness of said sleeve. So I thought a "smart-sleeve" with cutouts for the mic and speaker along with the window from a smart-case would be the perfect solution.
I haven't been able to locate any of this sort though and I don't believe my sewing skills are up for the task
Would you think there would be a market for this type of deal (And feel free to snatch the idea btw) or am I the only one thinking this could be practical?

Regarding what you mentioned; this is the best way to enjoy your device and guarding it at the same time. I've been using leather pouches since a long time throughout all the phones I've bought and been enjoying it. I use the tpu back cover case when going to the gym or with any outdoor activities.

Yup but yet they are unpractical as I need to take it out of the sleeve when the phone rings - and the risk of me dropping it when I do that is unappealing. That's why I wanted a quick window in it

Surely the official case is ideal for what you describe?

No that is a flip or book case - not a pouch. I've had one of those for my G2 and didn't like it at all - the "door" is in the way most of the time
//M
Oh I see. So you want a pouch like the one sevoflurane suggested but that has cut outs so you rarely need to remove it?
I think, as you say, you'll struggle to find anything like that. The official book case is the only one I know that has the smart window anyway. I think you'd need to make something yourself.
Perhaps buy the official flip case and a leather pouch. Cut the front off the flip case and cut aligned holes in the pouch. Glue the case front to the inside of the pouch. You'd have to make sure you know how the flip case triggers the smart window on the phone so you don't accidentally remove it.
Don't know how handy you are but it might be tricky to make that not look terrible!
Another option is a smart watch. I have a Pebble which is perfect. Obviously has the time (it's a watch!) but also shows me notifications and stuff without even taking my phone out of my pocket. I can even see who is calling and dismiss the call if I don't want to answer it. Pebbles are pretty reasonably priced too and can do a lot of other funky stuff.

Yup exactly what I wanted
For the window the trigger most probably is a small magnet (at least it is on my G2), that shouldn't be much of a problem fitting in a pouch. As for a DIY kinda deal I think i might need to look for somebody else as my sewing abilities lack a lot to be desired :silly:
I've been on the smartwatch route for quite somme time, but has decided to go with a fitness tracker instead (Basis B1), it actually provides me with something on top of my phone, which a smart watch does not. But it is a good idea though
//M
Smart watches have fitness features. Pebble has had a recent update and there are a few excellent step counters, swimming counters etc but I'm not gonna try and sell you smart watches.
If you are careful, you could probably customise a pouch without needed to do any sewing. You only need to cut it in the right places and you wouldn't need to cut through any existing stitching. If you bought a couple of cheap pouches you could experiment with the cutting before you spend too much money.
Another thought, you might be able to use NFC to trigger the smart screen so then you could just stick one of those in the back of the pouch.

Not to derail completely - but no other fitness tracker can keep up with the Basis in terms of features (Heart rate monitor to name one). But on the positive side they have announced an upgrade which has smartwatch capabilities
I guess I need to find myslef a few cheap pouches for the purpose of experimentinga bit. Good idea on the NFC - at least if Sony is more open to their smart-window than LG is

If you do go for this, or find a case that suits, please update this thread. I'll be interested to see your solution.

Sure - I've ordered a rather cheap one from eBay, should arrive next week: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yousave-A.../390946403503?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
I'll see if I can mod it to my needs :silly:
If it is working out, I'll do it with a more premium leather case

No worries, thanks - I found something similar on eBay from a German dealer, so will see what thats like when it arrives. Appreciate the replay, thanks again!
Just received the case I ordered from eBay - what a crappy piece of junk. It's by no mean made for the Z3, I've send the seller an email but wont probably do me much good
Anyway if anybody could help figure out where the magnet to detect when the door is closed it would be cool - my tries have lead me nowhere so far
