Screenshot "Click/Shutter" Sound? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I searched and couldn't find anything, but has anyone figured out how to disable the shutter sound when you take a screenshot with the s-pen? Its sound is incredibly loud, especially in an office setting, and doesn't quiet down with the camera shutter sound turned off.
Edit: It's a "media" sound so turning down the media volume helps, but I usually keep that at max cuz I listen to music in my car. It would still be nice to just disable this.

Put the phone in silent mode first. You can do it easily by using the volume down rocker.

Thanks, I suppose that is a solution, but it'd still be nice to just disable the damn sound so I don't have to worry about turning the volume up and down. If anyone else has figured out how to just disable it I'm eager to hear about it.

Isn't there granularity on the sound settings? Try lowering the system bar.

There is, but it's media, not system volume.

I disabled it, its in the camera settings.

The only option I see there is the shutter sound for the actual camera itself, which I do have disabled. However when I take a screenshot I still get the click.
Are you not experiencing the same thing?

Hmm, no that is weird, I'm not getting that.

Is your media volume turned down maybe? I'm sitting here taking screenshots, hearing the click (even though I turned it down via media vol) but my camera shutter makes no sound.
WTF Yo!?

I guess my media volume was on mute, sure it is easy to fix with a rooted phone once a dev digs through and finds what files to edit/delete.

Heh okay, thanks for digging around for me. I figured it'll get fixed with root, was just making sure I'm not crazy and wasn't missing anything.

Make ringer volume and notification separate ICS

OK, I'll try one more time. I found a great solution to a huge problem in that my ringer and notifications on on the ICS Rom's have the same slider. WTF??? This was a major issue for me. I want my phone to ring but not want to hear every email and text that hits my phone. I just found and app on the horrible named "Play Store" and it's called "ICS Enhanced Ringer Control" and it works. Yes it's $2.99 but well worth it if you are one who is like me and very frustrated about the volume control problem.
Maybe I'm late to the party but I've tried I think all the ICS Rom's and this was an issue with them all.
If that helps then I'm happy for everyone else also.
Thanks for pointing this app out. Truly stupid thing to removed this option from ics. Why did they do it?

It's one of the great mysteries of the modern day why this was not changed in ICS as it was great with gingerbread, froyo etc. Must remember that the ICS we have here is a "leaked" version being used on these Rom's, at least this is my understanding.
On gingerbread you could select if the notifications were tied to the ringer, you can't do that on ICS?

Thanks for this! I have tried a few apps that said they could seperately control the volume, even paid a buck for one, and they can't over ride the system setting...I hope this works because I also hate that...

Ok maybe I'm just weird, but is there a way to connect the ringer and media volume? It drives me up a wall to have to turn down to evolume in YouTube to watch a video when my phone is already on silent....
Try Audio Control, it's by far the best volume management app in the Google Play store. There is both a notification and ringer volume for ICS or Jelly Bean.
Really helpful developer too.

Awesome Hi-Fi Fix (no root)

Working consistently with Google Play Music, including all-access streaming. Also, downloaded Pandora to test and it worked (free stream). I assume it should work with other players, as well.
"Working" defined: toggle consistently de/activates, without additional work-arounds; panning consistently works when enabled.

I'm hoping its supposed to resolve the DAC and AMP only being utilized for the stock player and TIDAL. Spotify still sounds pretty bad.... But not sure if because its 320 ogg or because its not being amplified. Tidal flacs sound amazing with the V10 so far. Huge improvement over anything else. Will try running flac files from the stock player soon.
This does allow more access to the hifi dac but it still doesn't work in every app. Tested with google play streaming and it works, still doesn't work with poweramp or YouTube for example
This gives me a reason to not use BT for music in car anymore
I see. Is there a fix for the volume not going past 30 when the DAC is on? The slider can go up to 75 but it jumps back to 30 no matter how many times I try to move it up.
EDIT: Fixed. It was the "More volume steps" option in G4TweaksBox. Turned it off and everything is back to normal.
I still cant get it to work with any app that plays alac files, (Gone Mad, Onkyo, Poweramp, etc.)
This wouldn't be too big a deal to me if the stock music app could play those. I don't want to convert all my music files that are lossless to flac...

Nevermind, it was G4TweaksBox. I had the "More volume steps" option enabled and that interferes with the DAC volume.

Bugs I've found with 6.0.1 tmo s5

I updated to 6.0.1 a few days ago. Phone is completely stock. No root, no mods, etc. All stock. Please post yours as well.
GPS does not talk to Google maps when screen is off. Gmaps is up to date.
Notification quick settings do not preserve user choice after restart. They reset to default. How was this missed in testing?
Auto brightness is far darker than previous version and too dark for use indoors. It's fine in direct sunlight but it was better before
Do any of these have fixes in the settings or are these just broken?

For the google maps, I put in a destination and allow it to navigate me there. When I turn off the screen, it says, "GPS SIGNAL LOST" and navigation stops until I turn on the screen again. If I approach a turn or merge with the screen off, it won't tell me anything because it's not getting GPS signal from the phone.
I am completely stock so I updated through the settings menu.
I think i figured it out. The auto brightness is now adjustable on the fly. We used to do that with mods! Wow nice
And battery saving mode turns off the GPS when the screen is off when on battery power. That's stupid. It also won't allow Pandora to change songs when the screen is off, power saving mode is on, and battery power
Still no fix for notification custom quicks

Is there a permission which can disable the battery saving screen-off mode for something like Google Maps, or perhaps decrease the frequency of GPS updates? Seems like that would be the smart thing to do (get fix every 10-20 seconds instead of every second when far away from an approaching turn and increase frequency of sampling when close to a turn).
Power saving mode also wont allow Entune, Toyotas app for connection to vehicle, to play Pandora on its own.

I'm having a problem with the notification settings on 6.0.1 GPE1 also. (I do have system-less root, and system-less xposed with only the Adblock and Xprivacy modules).
Everytime I get an email or text message notification, it uses the "zig-zig" vibration even though I've tried setting it to the single long vibration setting. It doesn't seem to be using the selected vibration pattern. Very frustrating.

Any ways to disable camera shutter sound on US unlocked S9+?

Just upgraded from AT&T S8+ to the US unlocked S9+ and very disappointed that I can't turn off the camera shutter volume.
I know you can on any of the US carrier's variant, but due to different international laws, the unlocked model is missing that feature.
Any mods out there to hack this? I know in the older Android, all you need is root to delete that audio file.
It's actually in the camera settings. Scroll all the way down and you'll see an option to disable to shutter sound

Maybe try switching the profile of your phone to "silent mode" or "vibrate mode"
Disable shuttle sound for Samsung S9 unlocked ver.
From main screen. Go to setting apps/Sound and vibration/Change Sound mode to vibrate or mute. It will stops the shuttle sound when take picture.
Maybe flashing your device to a particular carrier will enable it for you. What carrier are you using and does their variant allow for the shutter sound to be disabled?
