Yes & No!
NO:
If u are just flashing Rom after normal Factory reset, Cache & Dalvik cache wipe..Nothing will harm ur partition i.e the Partition in which U store ur songs, images etc
Yes:
but definetly ext2,3,4 partition which IF u have created for using a2sd script or link2sd will be erased.

Link2sd.. New rom..

So i want to try a new rom.. I use link2sd for all my apps.. Any tips for a easy switch.. Do i need to redo everything or is there a easy way?
Thanks

Another Link2SD user here.
I use Titanium Backup to backup apps before flashing new ROM.
If the new ROM is just an update (example Andy's first Phoenix to latest update), I wiped data, cache, dalvik cache but didn't reformat the sdcard before flashing ROM. If it's a different ROM or you want to change the partition type/size then reformat.
Flash ROM. Reboot.
Then flash gapps, install Link2SD, run it and follow the instruction to recreate mount script. Reboot.
Install Titanium Backup & restore apps.
I don't remember if the apps are automatically linked, but if they aren't, you only need to use multiselect to batch link them in Link2SD

Why would I need to format the SD card before flashing a new ROM? You mean format the second partition right? Not the first one.

How do i get my apps using link2d ,back from 2nd partition after i wiped data :(

I have been using Link2sd for a while now and just wanted to know is there a way to get all my apps/games back after flashing a new rom and performing a full data wipe, cache wipe, after factory resetting...etc my phone.
There should be coz all the apps and there data, .dex files and lib files etc, are already there on the second partition. Isn't there anything I can do. I just dont want to reinstall everything again.
thanks

If the data is still on the second partition, you can try opening link2sd, press menu> more > relink application files. I think, though that cwm will wipe the second partition (or /sd.ext) if you perform a factory reset.
Are you sure the 2nd partition is wiped as well when I do a factory reset??
Coz I see that there is used space in the partition... But when I check /data/sdext2 thru ES File explorer ..its empty!

If you ask how about your 2nd partition after you wipe data, wipe cache partitions, I answer your partition is well but if ask how your file applications after you wipe data I say your file has deleted..

M sorry but I didnt understand...
Is it possible to relink my applications now or not?

Q. I upgraded/changed my ROM and I can not see my linked apps, their files are on the 2nd partition but the system can not see the apps. How can I make them available, do I need to reinstall and relink them again?
No, if you didn't wipe data when updating ROM the only thing you need to do is to run "Recreate mount scripts" from "menu -> more" within Link2SD and do a normal (not quick) reboot.
If you wiped data, after executing "Recreate mount scripts" and rebooting, run "Relink all application files" from "menu -> more" and then reboot. All of your linked apps should be available again after reboot.
If you also wiped dalvik-cache, in addition to the above step run "Link dalvik-cache files".
Found this on the link2sd site... i did as its told here... but when i "relink all application files" it says no files found to relink ... :/ what do i do...
Best way is to backup using titanium backup. About the factory reset for me (rage kernel + CWM 5) it formats the second sd partition.

Yea I guess il have to buy the pro version...does link2sd move the application automaticlly when we backup or do we hav to link everything later...cz my internal memory dosent hav enough space to backup all the apps at the same time...

Using the Wipe Data delete also the pictures and videos?

Guys the other day I did a wipe data from original recovery and it deleted all the data in /sdcard, is it normal?
Yes. It's the same as factory reset.

it's a strange. The Galaxy Note II doesn't erase the /sdcard. Why is there these differences?
Because you should use a custom recovery for this, it doesn't wipe your internal sd

Good response. Then The offical kernel format also /sdcard ? Instead custom recovery not format /sdcard ? Is it true?

[Q] Erase and Flash rom

I have from many month installed and tested various different rom on my i9300.
NOw I'm using Final Chaos with Android 4.1.2.
Every time I install a new ROM normally I use following procedure:
star in recovery PhilZ Touch 5
Wipe data / Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe Dalvik Cache
after install the ROM e standard boot.
Some times after all initializiation procedure, I found on the internal rom some data already downloaded or received in the past (ie. icon, some images) How is it possible?
Normaly I restore only rubrica from google and nothing else. But wipe data / factory reset doesn't erase all internal rom?
Total wipe mounts and storage in recovery .
Format cache sdcard system data and preload .

I use the Chaos rom , so you need a full wipe with that rom , so you can do what was suggested by jjegan or you could use Megawipe , seach for it on xda , flash that , it will wipe away everything that is from the past rom (SO KEEP THE ROM IN YOUR EXTERNAL SD CARD) , but back up everything from your internal sd card , whatever you need , and then flash it , then flash the Final Chaos once again
Edit: here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832326

Yes Chaos rom is a zip file ... keep it on your external sd card and flash from that (but the Dev for chaos says to flash from internal sd card. .. because you want to clear all waste from the internal sd card , you'll have to flash from the external sd card. . But if you experience problems after flashing , move the rom.zip to the internal as card and Wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partition , format system under mounts and storage and then wipe dalvik cache under advanced options and then Flash the chaos rom from the internal sd card. . Good luck

No not needed as far as i know, i have never restored it. . Just remember it will wipe out the system , so you need to have a rom in the EXTERNAL sd card to flash. . Or your phone won't boot. . But it's always goodto backup your EFS ..

follow this procedure - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44009547&postcount=66329
Sorry bud it doesn't seem to work, I am talking about the data partiotion where the rom data is and stuff, and in recovery when I select wipe data, the data doesn't wipe, and after a long time the phone just restarts, but thanks for trying
Mate flash custom kernel like dorimanx 9.43.tar by odin ,boot into cwm wipe wot u want and reflash stock rom by odin or flash custom rom and all will work
